Browsing

Last long weekend over Raya, had nothing much to do and decided to drive to Klang met my friend for a simple meal hunting. Of course when you are in Klang, one of the thing to hunt is definitely Bak Kut Teh. As my arrival around that area for lunch time, to get the best Bak Kut Teh is surely out of topic, as far as I know those famous one usually have to go early morning and even sold out before 8am, was introduce to Restaurant Qe Xiang.

klang bkt (1)

Well, my friend brought me to one of her favourite outlet, Restaurant Qe Xiang that is located in Bandar Baru Klang that is actually not that far off from Federal Highway. She told me that, last time this outlet operate in small outlet at the same spot as recent years, they only expended with build up of front portion.

klang bkt (2)

Its one of the place to get Bak Kut Teh during lunch hours as this outlet operate from 8am-3pm

klang bkt (3)

Just only 2 of us we order 2 pot with dry and soup version.

klang bkt (4)

As the dry Bak Kut Teh we order the soft bone part and the meat is braised till soft and gravy is thick with dark soy sauce. A bit spicy at the end as they added chili padi, and I think I had better ones in Puchong.

klang bkt (5)

Here comes the soup Bak Kut Teh as I am surprise by the generosity of ingredient that the serve along as I ordered mixture. Soup is less herbal as I always prefer mine to be thick in Herbal taste but taste for people around here, they prefer less herbal. Soup is a bit thick with sign of boiling quite a while with all the meat being in there and its sweet.

klang bkt (6)

Multi layered pork intestine. Good!

Bak Kut Teh here is surely not one of the best, yet I do not mind to come back here again for another round as the price are pretty reasonable with 2 big pot for 2 of us with 2 rice, and drink is about RM38. Soup is refillable upon request.

If you are always in a hurry or need to take away something simple and nice yet cheap, Chicken Rice is always top in the list but with Sum Lam Fatt Chicken and Duck Rice had made its name around the neighbourhood is one of the popular place to hunt for when think of Chicken Rice.

Lam Fatt

If you were to go during lunch hours, you are expecting a que in this shop.

Lam Fatt (2)

and guess what, its only 1pm and all the chickens are gone while we are waiting for the guy to replanish it.

Lam Fatt (3)

I just love the ‘Chap Chai Soup’ which is spicy with dry chili yet sour with the sour vegetable and cook it hours with duck meat and bone. I just finish this bowl of soup. RM4

Lam Fatt (4)

The chicken taste good, juicy that had been soak with the soy and a bit of sesame sauce, and the ‘Siew Yuk’ nothing to boost about~ RM6 for 2 person.

Surely, I have no complain about this place as it is cheap yet the service is fast.

My dad like to ta pau from this shop if he did not go down town.

Penang as my hometown, neither did I know that, I actually made another great discovery that thanks to Lingzie that brought us here. I have always known that Kajang Satay which is very famous to folks in KL and Selangor but I just got to know that Ah Basri Satay is actually very famous with local crowd especially during lunch hours as its nearby the industrail zone.
In the afternoon you can expect this place to be full house even though its far away from town and nearby the industrail zone but nevertheless, its a great discovery.

Ah Basri

This shop actually is a combination of what the 1Malaysia concepts truely are. Behind this shop, there are actually a few partners which is Chinese, Malay and Indian owner that had come out with this concept which I am really proud of.

Ah Basri (2)

and yes, they are actually moving to a new premises which is bigger, new concept, air condition and brought the satay to another whole new level. You can expect more variety of satay choices and what is that, is for you to find out at their new branch as when the tauke told us about it, I was already hoping to try that new flavour.

Ah Basri (3)

Their special pit area of bbq’ing their satay.

Ah Basri (4)

Turning the satay under the warm charcoal that making sure it does not burn the meat and add on with their own special oil to bring up the taste and make the look of it, yummy, delicious and cant wait to salivate.

Ah Basri (5)

You can expect quite a huge range of satay compare to the normal hawker stall on the road or kopitiam. You can expect such meat as chicken, beef, lamb, deer, ostrich, horse, rabbit, duck, turkey, squid, prawn and fish. It also offers normal, black pepper and also tom yam flavoured satay.
and the price would be :Original Chicken RM1, Tomyam Chicken RM1.20, Black Pepper Chicken RM1.20, Original Beef RM1.40, Original Lamb RM1.40, Horse RM2.00, Squid RM2.50 PrawnRM3.00 Cow Stomach RM1.50.

Ah Basri (7)

The most important of all in satay is the gravy of it, filled with nice thick peanut sauce that rich with flavour and add on some of their chili to bring up the taste of the gravy is truly aromatic to dip along with the satay.

Squid Satay

Ah Basri (12)

As the satay is very flavourful, and we requested to ask Sunny to be our very own embassador that he is enjoying every bite of his satay. My most prefered which is Lamb and Black Pepper Satay which had been marinated and bbq very perfectly, juicy and soft yet aromatic and besides that, do not look down on this place that the waiter and waitress here had been profesionally train and they have excelent customer service.
With them moving to their new location, I would not mind visit their new stall for the very next round and their satay stick is actually big in size.

Quite some time ago, when I read at the Star, when always comes to the food section it always attracts me and I will save a few copies and in my wanted list in food hunt~ So this is one of the place that interest me as the area had always been in my list of food hunting. When comes to Thai food, who could resist with a great write up article. I have kept the article quite some time till in the end decided to go and hunt for it.

Its located in the heart of the Entrepreneur park and I could not find the place with the printed address and was about to go to next restaurant till my friend ask me why not give it a call, and only realize that they newspaper print the address wrongly which the shop is located on the very next street. A large sign board like this is hard to be notice.

A kopitiam style concept which is nice and clean that divided into two area with air condition and without. You can just feel the heat if you were seated on the outside.

The shop is still new in the area and in the menu they are offering the usual Thai food variety.

In order to cater the lunch crowd which is usually limited with their lunch hours, so they have come out with a lunch menu which I think is quite reasonable as with the pricing comes with a 2 pieces of kuih and a drink with main course. What can you expect more?
They kuih looks nice and as the lady that serve us is very friendly explain to us what is made off and also its fresh but after one bite I had not continue on second bite as it is solid in texture and felt like its had been left overnight, not to my likings.
I have no idea why I am obsess with ‘Fried Pat Thai’. What I feel like its Char koey Teow in thai version, a bit pale in taste yet the noodle is abit strong and solid felt that its not well fried. RM7.50(Set Lunch Set) comparing with the price, I still prefer the one that I had in Pavillion Food court from the Thai Stall.
‘Fried Glass Noodle with Seafood’ as the glass noodles are a bit salty yet still taste not bad if they were to reduce the amount of salt or soy sauce. RM8.50(Set Lunch Set)

‘Green Curry Chicken’ is one of the best choice if you do not know what to order in Thai Food. When it got serve, all of us our face is like arrhhhhh.. why like dat eh, it was quite watery not with the usual curry which is a bit thicker, the taste of it is quite pale as we have tried better ones before. RM8.50(Set Lunch Set)

With us are being very tam chiak I kept looking in the menu see what we can add on order till I found this ‘Thai Otak-Otak’. It would have taste even better if its fried a bit dry but I just enjoy every bite of it.
‘Fried Belacan Rice’ something quite plain nothing to comment on. RM8.50 (Set Lunch Set)
‘Pandan Chicken’ is exactly what we are expecting, fragrance of the pandan leave and well marinated chicken that well fried and ‘Thai Fish Cake’ is something normal to me but my friend enjoy eating it. RM4.25 each.
In Thai food, it would be a lost if ‘Tom Yam Soup’ is not in the list but we were quite full and keen to try on and only request to the lady boss whether we can just get a small bowl of soup just to try on. Surprisingly the soup taste not bad, its a complimentary from the lady boss.

Desert is always in my hit list, and that day so nice that all of them wanted to try a few of it also. So we nearly order the whole range of it.

‘Water Chesnut’ is one of the signature in Thai desert something that I prefer, not too thick in ‘santan’ taste yet the ingrediant added on just combine the taste well. RM3.50

‘Thai Cendul’ looks like something new to me but it taste like bubur Cha cha. Quite thick in taste as what it is to be and its not in my list of favourtie as I don really like Bubur Cha cha. RM3.50
Among the other two, I felt that ‘Thai Sago’ is one of the best with the taste is nice, not so thick not too wattery and we ended up ta pau another 3 bowls for our friend. RM2.50
‘Mango Sticky Rice’ is also one of the signature desert that would always try on and it is fresh from the kitchen. The sticky rice is soft but if the mango were sweet enough that would be the kick of it. RM5.50

Last week, my friend know that I like to eat so they brought me to this place. Curry Fish Head is also one of my favourite although I do not really know how to eat it except for the fish meat. My first impression when I reached there was like ‘Oh..noooo, sure gonna be hot!’

As we reached pretty early, so the crowd is not so much and the parking space is quite alot. Can just park along the road side.

This is what I would call smoking zone with no air conditioning. They have another area with air condition. When I went in there, were just ngam ngam got 1 table left for us. It is already full in there.
As time pass, the crowd are pouring in during lunch hours.
I did not know what to order there, so let my friend order everything. So this came by for the first dish, Lala Fried with Garlic and Chili’. Clear taste, simple dish but fried to perfection. Got the ‘Wok’ taste and the garlic taste sure do stuck on the lala. Then every 1 was already having a piece of it. When the rice came, already half plate gone.
This is their signature item which is Jiong Jhing Fish Head’ The fish is very fresh as the meat of the fish is just so soft without the stinging taste of it. The best part of this dish of course is the gravy of it. It is black bean sauce with some chili and another taste which makes it so perfect to put on with rice. My friend was happily putting the sauce on the rice till like banjir. Some even just drink it like that. Was not too salty, and u would want more after that. Highly Recommended

Next would be the ‘Curry Pork’. The thickness of the curry is just perfect. The meat was soft and wasnt too hard till you have to much quite long to swallow. The curry is mild and goes very well with rice also.
The vegie is nothing special Vegie with garlic’. Just an additional dish to add along with it.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the food there, and the fish head was very big. The total bill came by RM77 with 2 fish head and the rest. The price was very reasonable for 7 people. Looking forward on returning there.
