Browsing

Past weekend, I get a chance to follow BangsarBabe for lunch outing. Then she introduce us one of her favourite spot in Lucky Garden that she come very often which is Anuar’s Kari Kepala Ikan (Anuar’s Fish Head Curry)/ Bangsar Fish Head corner. On this spot, its hard for you to miss as during lunch time, it will be very pack and long queue.

bangsar (1)

Then only get to know that, he is no stranger to many local residence there and had attracted many loyal patrons since operating the business 30 years ago.

bangsar (2)

bangsar (3)

This is one of the most simplest stall that I ever come accross that attracted so long queue, with the stall only selling, fried chicken, fried fish and curry fish head,

bangsar (4)

bangsar (5)

The fried chicken is hard to resist whereby I thought I only wanted a piece and ended up having another 2 more. Fried to crisp and well marinated that make it flavorful. Not a big piece but just nice.

bangsar (6)

Then Riff told us, Sotong is a must and fried fish. For curry fish head, usually he and bangsarbabe could not finish and since so many of us here, we must eat the fish head. All are good, with sotong is fresh and chewy, well marinated, curry fish head is huge and curry is mild follow with pairing of fried fish. Just perfect.

Now only I understand why its famous because if you wanna get cheap good food, this is one of the place to hunt for it. Limited choices but good enough to please our tummy.

bangsar (7)

After our heavy meal, a stone throw away, comes to this famous Indian Apam which is a must have after your meal. A very traditional type of eatery that I came across for the first time.

bangsar (8)

Alot people came here for the Tosei and others.

bangsar (9)

This is another busy stall known as OM Shakti Chelo’s Appam stall, sell vegetarian food.

bangsar (10)

bangsar (11)

This lady busy preparing and coordination with 6 woks to meet customers demand, as this apam is cook with small fire.

bangsar (12)

Order Mee Goreng, its pretty plain and nothing to shout about or maybe in my mind, I was thinking of Penang Mee Goreng.

bangsar (13)

This is the famous Indian Classic/traditional apam. I have never come across in this version. It was done with perfection that it smells so good.

bangsar (14)

Crisp on all corner that is aromatic that I even steal my friends portion and right in the middle is filled with coconut milk and sugar. A bit moist and enjoying every bite of it.

If you are looking for cheap eats in Bangsar, then head to Lucky Garden to hunt for cheap nice food.

Halal

Remark: In the mornings, they serve roti canai

If you are there during the night, I find that this tai chow, Sin Lai Ping is good and cheap . Worth to give it a try. .  (NON-HALAL)

Usually when I am back Penang, a week before I will bug my friend to bring me nice places to eat or their latest discover, (sounds like I am a foreigner or outstation guest). Restaurant Hock Chuan Heong is one of the place that they usually will pop by for lunch is this traditional Hokkien dishes in Macallum Street here.(I used to stay here for 7 years, didnt know such shop existed.)

Oyster (1)

For those who are not familiar around the area, it would be tricky to locate it as its hidden behind a row of shop house that Pos Office Malaysia would be the landmark.

Oyster (2)

This place its famous for its authentic Hokkien dishes especially on their Oyster series. Its super pack during lunch time and it is advisable to do early lunch.

Oyster (3)

All the dish serve up pretty fast and this is what happen when you have 2 girls very hungry and cant wait for me to complete taking the picture first by snapping some of it first.. 😀

Oyster (4)

One of the dishes that must have is their classic Fried Oyster (Oh chien) . In most of the version that we have is either crispy or starchy and back to traditional its starchy. Fried to aromatic and dipping with their special chili sauce that makes it taste even better.

Oyster (5)

I cannot remember when is the last time I had this dish, that it was too long ago, that it used to be one of my grandma’s favorite dish. Found back the authenticity place for it, Oh Mee (Oyster Noodle) comes with generous ingredients and the gravy is slightly mild and find that noodle is over cook that make it too soft. Overall its not bad that many old people will sure love this taste.

Oyster (6)

This is Tau Kua Suan Na dish is fried and cooked with lots of leeks, added with little 5 spices powder to bring up the taste a little more. Gravy is nice and pour it onto rice, is good~

If you are looking for some authentic food then this is one of the place to hunt for. One of the set back of this location is limitation of Parking and best to park around Post Office area and walk towards behind it, or residential around that area.

Remark: The owner is a quite lansi (arrogant)

I am very sure that many of you or 90% of you out there have dine before in Old Town White Coffee, which I have one in my office area in Jaya One. We often have headache during lunch time and when I suggested Old Town White Coffee Signature for breakfast or lunch most of them reluctant to go along because of the food quality.

When I received an invitation to review on Old Town White coffee food I am very surprise and why do they need to do a review since its pretty well know. Then decided to give it a try to check what is going on.

Old town (1)

Heading to Old Town White Coffee Signature outlet in 1-Utama which, there are only limited outlet and food choices in here are more.

Old town (2)

They event do sell your favorite coffee pack and instant.

Old town (3)

Old town (4)

Menu in here is definately different compare to those normal Old Town White Coffee Outlet and pricing also different which is slightly more expensive.

Old town (5)

Range in here are 20% more . . .

This is one of their latest edition to their new range of food product.

Old town (6)

Ice blended range is very impressive which is totally out of my expectation. Flavors are blended well and not too sweet, surely for a price like that its worth recommending at RM7.90. I love their mint series.

Old town (7)

Garlic Butter Toast @ RM4.60. Sometimes I do take this for breakfast and its pretty much different compare to their normal outlet. Its much stronger in taste and the small of garlic while its serving already tempt us.

Old town (8)

Fried Dumpling @ RM5.90

Old town (14)

One of my favourite when I was introduce by my colleague during tea time is their  Curry Puff @ RM4.90 as she bought as many as 20 pieces to treat all of us. Its slightly pricey of course but when you have the nearest outlet then this is one of the obtion. Ingredient in there is pretty generous.

Old town (10)

This is the first time I see they do have Tomyam Rice in the menu and decided to try it out. Smells good and taste nice, not to strong of tomyum spices which is just nice and rice is fried with wok hei. @ RM 11.90

Old town (11)

Their signature item which is Supreme Rendang Chicken Nasi Lemak @ RM13.50

Old town (12)

Supreme Javanese Mee is pretty good too. Gravy is thick enough and well presented, surely I wont mind to order [email protected] RM9.50

Old town (13)

oh, this is the star dish of the night that caught many of our atttention, even with some say you serious wanna order this. I say why not give it a try. Came out every one finish this dish within seconds. For a Halal Fried Kuey Teow in Egg Gravy/”Wat Tan Hor” @ RM10.90 it taste marvelous. Fill with ‘wok hei’ with gravy just thick enough to pair along with the koey teow. Surely one of the best this in the whole menu and I did came back dine again on this dish after our review. It still taste good in this 1-U outlet. (others I have no idea) – highly recommended~

Old town (16)

Strawberry Snow Ice @ RM6.90

Old town (18)

Peanut Snow Ice @ RM6.90

Old town (17)

Mango Snow Ice @ RM6.90

With their new desert on the menu not long ago, its a great addtion and among 3 flavours I like Peanut and Mango. Soft shave ice, just nice for our hot weather (opps not, rainy season)

Last long weekend over Raya, had nothing much to do and decided to drive to Klang met my friend for a simple meal hunting. Of course when you are in Klang, one of the thing to hunt is definitely Bak Kut Teh. As my arrival around that area for lunch time, to get the best Bak Kut Teh is surely out of topic, as far as I know those famous one usually have to go early morning and even sold out before 8am, was introduce to Restaurant Qe Xiang.

klang bkt (1)

Well, my friend brought me to one of her favourite outlet, Restaurant Qe Xiang that is located in Bandar Baru Klang that is actually not that far off from Federal Highway. She told me that, last time this outlet operate in small outlet at the same spot as recent years, they only expended with build up of front portion.

klang bkt (2)

Its one of the place to get Bak Kut Teh during lunch hours as this outlet operate from 8am-3pm

klang bkt (3)

Just only 2 of us we order 2 pot with dry and soup version.

klang bkt (4)

As the dry Bak Kut Teh we order the soft bone part and the meat is braised till soft and gravy is thick with dark soy sauce. A bit spicy at the end as they added chili padi, and I think I had better ones in Puchong.

klang bkt (5)

Here comes the soup Bak Kut Teh as I am surprise by the generosity of ingredient that the serve along as I ordered mixture. Soup is less herbal as I always prefer mine to be thick in Herbal taste but taste for people around here, they prefer less herbal. Soup is a bit thick with sign of boiling quite a while with all the meat being in there and its sweet.

klang bkt (6)

Multi layered pork intestine. Good!

Bak Kut Teh here is surely not one of the best, yet I do not mind to come back here again for another round as the price are pretty reasonable with 2 big pot for 2 of us with 2 rice, and drink is about RM38. Soup is refillable upon request.

This place is totally new to me as Nicole told me she is gonna bring me to her favourite nasi lemak stall in Uptown I was like, “huh, there got famous Nasi Lemak one meh?” she said yes! just meet her there and I could not even remember there was one located along the stretch of HSBC. Have not met her in ages as she is busy travelling around and its a great to see her again. Village Park Nasi Lemak is one of a famous nasi lemak that gain huge popularity.

village park (1)

It is a place surely to  impress and I was here at lunch time. Its chaotic in Uptown as to find a parking spot at this time is your worst Nightmare!!! The only choices is to double park and being risk of either being kena Saman or Tow away. Be sure that you are there to monitor your car. I have seen a group of people came out from a restaurant and looking for their car as I saw their car got tow away.

village park (2)

Its amazing to see how this shop got huge coverage on media and not only that. As behind the payment counter you can see some celebrity and even our PM, ex PM Tun Dr Mahatir and many others came here to dine before.

village park (3)

Well, parking is not only the thing you have to be concern at as inside the shop is also chaotic, as the queue on this rice counter had build to outside and customers are pouring in.

village park (4)

Look at the Ayam goreng is just so tempting.

village park (5)

and my friend told me this is one of a must have!

village park (6)

Prices are slightly a bit more expensive for a plate of nasi lemak cuz you are dining in a restaurant.

village park (7)

This is how full house it would be and many other people behind me are waiting too.

village park (8)

This is a portion that according to my friend their signature ‘Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng’ @ RM 8. Something simple yet delightful, as rice is fragrant with light santan taste, fried chicken is nice and I would love to have mine with the extra crispy left over from the fried wok. Sambal is not bad as I prefer it to be more spicy and I was told that it used to be spicy and due to general taste bud, they have tone it down.

village park (9)

Kangkung Belacan order extra for side dish.

If you start comparing, I would compare it in this way, as Village Park Nasi Lemak they are cheaper than any malls restaurant that have to offer and taste much better or one of the best so far. If you compare with the makcik pakcik little stall on the road side, cant be comparable as those are street food category and of course their price is much cheaper and you can find a few stalls that taste better than them.

As this place is not that far from my place, I find that the price and quality is pretty decent. Been returning for couple of times already. 🙂

I have work around PJ for quite a while and it excites me during lunch time that I have seen many bloggers blog nice food around this area. It was something that I have discover recently as I have been craving for nice Koay Teow Th’ng or Koay Teow Noodle soup and asked my friend, he said. . You siau ah, one of the best Koay Teow Noodle Soup one just located opposite your office la which is at Section 17, walk also can reach. I am a bit stun when he answer me that.Restaurant Chang Jiang White Coffee offer a Penang version of Koay Teow Soup.

koey teow thing (1)

Then Ken (Foodpoi.com) with his good effort, he purposely drive all the way from Kota Damansara to bring me opposite to eat. kekek~ Its a small little stall that operate below the low cost flat and one of the BIG setback is the parking. Very limited parking space and some idiot drivers will double park infront of the shop to make it worst.

koey teow thing (2)

According to my friend, normally you have to wait for an hour to wait for it as its one of the famous one. Best to head to this stall before 12.30pm to enjoy the

koey teow thing (3)

This is where you place your order with what kind of noodle you want.

koey teow thing (4)

Lunch time its usually filled with office crowd. Its a bit warm here so you  might be just sweating away.

koey teow thing (5)

If you are a coffee lover, just do not miss their cofffee, strong and thick as to my liking. I had 2 glass and the ffect on me was dead sleepy after that. – Highly Recommended!

koey teow thing (6)

Here is my bowl of Koay Teow Soup Noodle

koey teow thing (7)

I always prefer mine in Koay Teow + Noodle for this and the koay teow is smooth and silky. Soup base is sweet that know they have make their efford in boiling it with other ingredients to make it there, add on with fried garlic. For add on’s they add on chicken for me which is also one of their signature as you can order the whole plate by yourself. as we reach there late, it was already sold out. Portion is pretty big for a bowl of RM5

I have dine here couple of times after that only just blogged about it. hehe

If you are looking for Penang Version Koay Teow Soup, definately this is one of the recommended place as its quite near to Penang taste version. Service is quite okay too on their buzy’ness level.
