Last round when I was in Melaka, we did alot of food hunt and thanks to Jason introduce us one of his all time favourite nan place – Pak Putra. We were already full day of food hunting and this was the last stop before we head back to KL and all of us were already complaining super full max till want to vomit out.

Pak Putra (1)

Pak Putra is famous among local crowd and now which had grown to draw many attention from other local tourist to hit this place for night hang out area which is conveniently 5 minutes walk away from Jonker Street. It is one of a restaurant that serve Indian cuisine which most of the people are mainly coming here for their Chicken Tandori and Nan, at times it can take at least an hour to be served, that Jason mention that they do not have the man power to take charge off after they had expand.

Pak Putra (2)

This is one of the meaning of expansion.

Pak Putra (3)

Pak Putra (4)

Pak Putra (5)

Tandori Chicken was not up to my expectation and according to Jason, it doesnt taste like that, which normally taste much better, which he mention alot of crowd today. Well, still so far my all time favourite Tandori chicken stall is in KL, Ampang area (click here)

Pak Putra (6)

This is another thing must order, which I cannot remember what is the name.

Pak Putra (7)

This is the special nan that Jason ordered. We name it Jason Mumbles Nan!

Pak Putra (8)

AS this is a special customise nan that consist of double cheeze, double egg, double onion, double something else in total with 6 main ingredient to come out this nan.

Pak Putra (9)

Look at how the double cheeze ooze out when we tear it apart!

Pak Putra (10)

This is how much ingredient that we are talking a bout, with one small bites, its rich in taste, and remember that I said every one complain super full, the plate went out to another table never came back. Ended up we order another 3 more this special nan. IT just taste deliciously finger licking good!

Recommended for the nan if you do drop by in Melaka~

It was recently that, I have tried something new when I was back to Penang for holiday. Then my friend insist that I must try out this, and I did came to this place 2 times the stall did not open until the third time, it was there. Well, I have try out Satay Celup in Melaka, Lok Lok in Penang Island and for the first time, I went over to the mainland Bukit Mertajam area to hunt for food then I have come across, Lok lok in Rojak Style (that filled with prawn paste – heh kor) that if famous among the neighbourhood. My friend called this Chiam-Chiam Rojak.

This is the little stall that park right at the road side, nearby opposite a school and I am surprise to see this little stall flock with many people and it was drizzling still many people stand by it to eat.

Choices available are more like fruits, young mango, mengkuang, jambu air, cucumber and a few more.

The trick is, choose your favorite stick of fruits then just stuff the whole stick into this thick filled with lots of peanut rojak sauce that separate into two section, spicy and non spicy.

This is how it looks like after dipping into the sauce and I find that spicy is challenging, that first few sticks you do not feel the spiciness, but once it kicks in, your mouth will go numb a bit, yet still I keep dipping into the spicy sauce.

As the effect of it, of course your fruits will be fully coated with the rojak sauce, of course it will drip onto the floor like bird shit, what you have to do is. . . ..

spread your leg wide and shove your head out a bit like girrafe, so that it wont drip onto your shoe or shirt.

This is how good the business is, and many people stop by to make a take away of the sauce also.

If you are looking for something new to eat, as for me, this is something new that I was shown by my friend. Price is pretty cheap.

Remark: the stall doesnt have a fixed operation hours, so it depends on your luck!

In Melaka, there are not many area to hunt for food during at night, as the town rest early . . Luckily our friend which is from Melaka, Jasonmumbles brings us to one of his favourite place to dine, at Restaurant Dung Fung, during night time, is famous for this ONLY stall that sells Wan Tan Mee only at Melaka.

Dung Fung (1)

Dung Fung (2)

Dung Fung (3)

It is quite full house and the stall is operate by elderly husband and wife and helped by their son. Their business is very good and if do plan to come here, do have the patient to wait as you will be expecting a wait of around 15-20 minutes and Jason also mention if it falls on weekend or public holiday the business is crazy as at times can wait till more than 30 minutes.

Dung Fung (4)

A simple bowl of Wan Tan Mee filled with generous amount of meaty Char Siew which I prefer mind to have a bit of fats. The noodle is quite springy and the most unique is that the wan tan mee here do add their own style of chili sauce. My first time having this kind of wan tan mee, a bit sourish and salty turns out to be not bad.

Dung Fung (5)

Well, we finish in 4 bites. . . 😀

Dung Fung (6)

Then I see so many people order their Curry Mee, turns out to be not our style, its a bit weird in taste, not really spicy and a bit sourish or I would just say, just not my type.

Just go for the traditional wan tan mee, wont go wrong. *Non-Halal

On or last trip on our enjoyment stay at Philea Resort & Spa for the night, then me, Ken, Jason(Our Melaka  Food Guy) that bring us for a food hunting during the stay introducing the very local delight the non-tourist spot. One of his favourite restaurant he rate the best for him which is Restaurant Chuen How served the best Char Siew or know as Best BBQ Pork in Melaka. Restaurant Chuen How

Seriously, if you ask me how to come here, I am sure I will be lost as pusing here and there to come to this coffee shop as it feels that it quite out from the city center. This shop is famous among its neighbourhood. . .

Look at the long queue, and we were far behind. This shop actually served economy rice, with its signature many people come here to take away the BBQ.

Prices and dishes all are written in chinese and I do not know what it crap about . . .

In our mind, usually BBQ Pork comes in a long strips and this version of BBQ Pork is totally different which is prepared in a very short and thin strips, then you can choose what kind of meat you want, by the look of it I was already swallowing my saliva and just cant wait to bite one strip!

Besides BBQ Pork, many people also order Roast Pork and also order his side dish to be added on for rice for dinner.

Economy rice section for you to choose from . .

Very plain style of kopitiam seating as you don see many dine in, most of them came here to take away . . .At first we are here just to test the BBQ Pork only, after heavy influence of Jason, all of us ended up order many dishes and ended up eating rice also . .

Potato in soy sauce I would say, boil till soft and fried along with pork that makes it nice to go along with rice.

The ‘Asam Gulai Fish’ is one of the dish that must take, with its taste of sour, spicy which is at the right level and we just drink it like soup. Recommended~

Roast Pork is nothing much to shout about and I would say it’s above average.

Super star of the dish, which is the BBQ Pork, as this version is not those version that going to melt in your mouth, and I like this BBQ Pork very much too, as I got to know that it marinate overnight with various herbs and spices then head to chargrill spread with honey to give its sweetness, roast till the edge is burn and crispy. With its super thin slices, and thin fats in between layers, soft meat and aromatic caramelize by it,  once start eating, you will never stop, ! One great BBQ Pork to go after! Highly Recommended!

I am surely going to be back again if I head back to Melaka. Please be there early as usually the Char Siew is sold out after 7.30pm. Average a BBQ Pork Rice starts around RM4 . .

this is what I got ..

It’s not in the town center but rather outside the town. Find your way to Siemens or National Semiconductor and you are on the right route to the shop. After passing by Siemens or National Semiconductor, drive straight until you see a big T-junction and a Perodua center (corner lot) at one corner. Turn towards the Perodua center and go straight until you see Chuen How Restaurant on your left.
