This would be the third time to Korea and many of you asked me how is my trip, I guess now I have to dig back my last trip food guide and slowly introduce to all of you as I was here to attend the Ultra Music Festival 2017. After arriving and drop our luggage, the first stop which is just a stone throw away from our hotel is this Myeongdong Kyoja, located right in the heart of Myeongdong, Seoul.

Myeongdong Kyoja (1)

This is a famous family chain that have a few outlets right in Myeongdong. A a family-owned restaurant that had been operating since 1966. A simple restaurant that offers only four items on the menu. A place that specializes in dumplings and noodle soup.

It is 11am when I am in this queue and will be forever a queue to this outlet. If I am not mistaken they recently had gain an award to be part of Korea Michelin Guide 2019. That shows how good and consistent they are.

Myeongdong Kyoja (2)

Also they are being nominated with one of the best.

Their homemade garlic-laden kimchi is awesome! love it. More toward sourish and hint of garlic that is just  nice.

Myeongdong Kyoja (7)

Their signature item Steam Dumplings @ 10,000 won (estimated RM 35)

Myeongdong Kyoja (8)

Steamed to perfection that skin is soft, not so sticky, an alternative of Xiao Long Bao but Korea version. Mince meat not too dence yet fragrant with the veggie had in it. A perfect dish!

Myeongdong Kyoja (9)

Chopped Noodles @ 8000 Won (estimated RM 28) is quite similiar to our Pan mee. Filled with mince meat and they top with dumpling. Soup punch with flavour, not too salty and little “so called wanton” is spot on.

Every every level consist of different product category and the main intention that my sister wanted to come here is for their Pink Cafe at the roof top.

When you are in Seoul, Korea, there is one particular breakfast shop that is quite hype up over past two years. Isaac Toast (이삭토스트)  is definately one of them that also regard as one of a must have toast place or breakfast place if you visit Seoul. As my schedule is pack with food, and knowing Isaac Toast in Myeongdong is super congested, so found out that they have another outlet at Insadong which fits well in my itinerary.

Isaac Toast has over 700 retail stores in South Korea, with overseas branches in both Macau, Taiwan, and of course the latest news that they will be opening their first outlet in Kuala Lumpur at KLIA 2 – Arrival Hall

Isaac Toast (2)

drop by this shop after visited Gyeongbokgung Palace. This shop is like stranger in the street. Do not have to queue super long and just get it within 5 minutes.

Isaac Toast (3)

Very simple and straight forward menu. It feels like you are doing the toast at home. Some interesting flaovurs are like : Bulgalbi (3,200 Won), Bulgogi (2,800 Won), Hot Tteokgalbi (3,200 Won), Hot Chicken (3,000 Won), Steak Ham (2,800 Won), Bacon Best (2,800 Won) and Ham Special (2,400 Won).

Isaac Toast (5)

Since it is a simple food that prepare at its best so we hit on Ham & Cheese. Honestly, the bread do taste like Gardenia that is toast to perfection. What makes them so special is that they have this special sauce and sweet honey which gave very good appetising sweetness that is not overpowering yet keeps you goes on bitting. Ham is fragrant and it is just so good to pair with their well done airy egg. .

Simple to perfection.

If you ask me to wait for 30-45 minutes for a toast at Myeongdong, I guess I would have not proceed as they have 700 outlets around and I did try one stall at the road side that did similiar toast which is pretty on par to Isaac Toast. Just that they are a large chain that sits at Myeongdong that kinda make them a super star over past 2 years.
