Summer movie had started with a big bang, follow with a release of The Avengers from Marvels Super hero. On this part of the movie is all the previous super hero movie had come to its final episode by gathering all of them under a secret agency S.H.I.E.L.D. Loki were trying to take over earth and these super hero are called upon to work together and protect it.

Well, abit boring at the front and after the gathering, I would say its another great movie to watch at cinema, best to watch in 2-D effect. 😀

Overall ratings 7.5/10, not bad lah . . ~

– The movie rated by me is by my own personal preference. Watch it at your own risk –

chefedwardlee

EDWARD LEE
EXECUTIVE CHEF
OWNER OF 610 MAGNOLIA

Chef Edward Lee’s story – and his food – could only happen in America. One part Southern soul, one part Asian spice, and one part New York attitude, Lee is a Korean-American who grew up in Brooklyn, trained in classical French kitchens, and has spent the better part of a decade cooking in Louisville, Kentucky.
Lee’s passion for food is only surpassed by his sense of adventure; it is, after all, what took him to Louisville from a successful career in New York City. In 2001, on a cross-country road trip, Lee wound up in Louisville during Derby Week, the busiest dining week of the year. On a tip from a friend, he sought out the eccentric chef of a local gem called 610 Magnolia, finagling an invitation to work in the kitchen for the week. Impressed with Lee’s passion and skill, the chef offered him the restaurant less than a year later, and his Southern adventures began. The rest is history.

A James Beard finalist for Best Chef: Southeast in 2011, he has been featured in Gourmet and Esquire magazines, defeated Iron Chef Jose Garces on Food Network’s “Iron Chef America,” appeared on the CBS “Early Show” preparing an eclectic three-course meal for a family of four for under $40, and was most recently seen on “Top Chef: Texas.” Lee continues to seek out adventure, whether fishing bare-handed in a Kentucky creek, hunting for venison, working in a slaughterhouse or dropping in on a friend’s restaurant to cook for a few days. He approaches his professional and culinary life with candor, humor, and –most importantly – the same spirit of adventure that was the original impetus for his success.

I just cant wait to attend this event and I shall share what had happen in the event on my next blog post . .hehe~

When all thoughts about street food or hawker center, a street food which one of my real favorite that located in the heart of the city that covers variety nice food and also one of the place that most people would not want to miss is one of the classic and famous street, New Lane. The street is packed with side by side hawker and even some of the stalls are repeated with their very own originality and depends on your taste bud. Every stall enjoys their own customer.

New Lane

This place was sardin packed with tourist on my last dining outing there. When I was back for Chinese New Year, I visited this place twice as I did miss some of my favourite stalls and most of the stalls here worth to be recommended.

New Lane (2)

Even people from the west came by here to do their food shooting.

New Lane (3)

One of the stalls which is very famous or a signature of the street is the ‘Chu Chap Chuk’ with all the pig spare part hanging in the stalls and one of hawker that start operate around 5pm then you can see a lot of old and young came by to ta pau back. RM4-RM6

New Lane (4)

If you do not like Pig Spare Part porridge, then you can op of ‘Duck Porridge’ which is very good too, with its well roast duck meat chopped and added in it with the aromatic duck sauce.

New Lane (5)

Fried Oyster in this area is pretty good too, with its big oyster added on after deep fried egg base.

New Lane (6)

There are 2 ‘Wantan Mee Noodle’ that I like the difference is the noodle used. This stall the noodle tend to be not so springy but it has its own style and I like their ‘Sui Kow’

New Lane (7)

This is one of the best ‘Tong Sui’ that you can even customade the ingredient that you want. One of their signature is also the ‘Almond Soup with Yau Char Kuai’ and I believe the other stall that they are operating at Lebuh Kimberly.

New Lane (8)

The tong sui soup base which is cook to perfect taste that suits me because its not too sweet.

New Lane (9)

If you are looking to taste the local taste of ‘Char Koey Teow’ this stall had always been frying nonstop even I prefer to take it myself is even faster than sit and wait.

New Lane (10)

Deep fried with wok hei and its very cheap too compare to Lorong Selamat and to me it taste much better than there.

New Lane (11)

New Lane (12)

I just love the ‘Curry Mee’ from this stall, with is clear santan soup and home made chili that stir in it makes it extra umph and chili aromatic that mix well in it.

New Lane (13)

Even though here had been my favorite but I this would be my first time to try on ‘Chee Cheong Fun’ here but of course my still all time favourite is the one at Genting Kopitiam at Island Glades.

New Lane (14)

It was steam well soft, yet the traditional method is with har kou (prawn paste) and add some chili is good, and some people do eat it with oil and sesame. Another version of it.

New Lane (15)

If you are craving for ‘Ikan Pangang Bakar’ . . .

New Lane (16)

this stall really serve a nice pangang fish but its just that overprice.

New Lane (17)

‘Beef Ball Soup’ in this kopitiam served very good lembu soup base.

New Lane (18)

Strong taste of the soup yet with the cow spare part is something I cannot resist. Dipping it with chili sauce is just taste fantastic and there are people who actually pour the whole chili sauce into the soup, stir and eat it. RM4-RM8

New Lane (19)

Another stall of ‘Char Koey Teow’ which is located inside the kopitiam is my dad’s favourite but I do not really like it. (again depends on your taste bud) RM4.50

New Lane (20)

New Lane (21)

This stall ‘Wan Tan Mee’ we prefer to order the soup base instead of the dry one, another one of my favorite stall. It depends on my mood to go for which 1, sometimes I prefer the road side and sometimes I prefer this. Both is equally good. RM3

New Lane (22)

New Lane (23)

New Lane (24)

For desert wise, there are two stalls located at the end of the street which is nearby Sunway Hotel. One is the ‘Apong Telur’ and ‘Kuih Ketayap’ which is 5 pieces(can mix) for RM2.

New Lane (25)

And last my FAVOURITE ‘Apom Manis Stall’ which I had been patronizing since when I was a kid till now. I find it this is the best so far and it is even better than Apom Guan (located in front of Union Primary) and the owner which is very funny. This stall was started by his dad and now the son had took over.

New Lane (26)

There are 2 type of base which is the normal one (classic flavor) and the one with Pandan (aromatic in flavor)

New Lane (27)

As I always love the one in ‘Jagung’ and ‘Banana’ is not bad too. I just love how he added on the extra flavour on the kuih base as when I bite it, I can still bite on the tiny coconut slices in it that makes it very aromatic. I always ended up having 5 peices even I am very full.

This year, I guess some couple would be happy and some couples would not be happy as Valentine’s Day this year falls on the first day of Chinese New Year. I would say it as double happiness but to most couple they would most probably be at their each individual family each. To me, every day is also a Valentine’s Day and sure we can bring forward the celebration couples of days earlier.

But there in Malaysia there are many franchises in the market but you can only see one by CPK is to maintain their best quality to ensure customer satisfaction that originates from the states. Thus, with their originality which their head chef often check in, California Pizza Kitchen as prepare a special menu for most of the couples to celebrate this wonderful event by introducing the special menu.

California Kitchen

This restaurant had always been my favorite restaurant with its nice ambiance over look the KLCC water fountain, and sure its good place for me to catch up with my good friend over a great dinner and a long relaxing conversation.

California Kitchen (2)

This place is usually packed with lunch and dinner crowd. If you are looking for a good spot by the window, it is advisable to go there early.

California Kitchen (3)

With the friendly host, we ordered our drinks that looks very good in the menu. ‘Strawberry Banana’, the taste of the banana did not over power the strawberry, yet it is very freshing to drink in this hot weather. RM12.50

California Kitchen (4)

I just love my ‘Mango Strawberry Colada’. The taste it was blended so well, that I keep sucking on it till I had brain freeze, not too sweet yet its something that I prefer. RM 12.50

California Kitchen (5)

Kick off with the very first dish in the menu. ‘Lettuce Wraps with Chicken and Shrimps’ When it was served, honestly I look real plain like the normal restaurant fried, but I have underestimate this dish. Perfectly fried with ‘wok hei’ filled with scallop, shrimp, water chestnut with a bit of crispy noodle is something that I enjoy. RM26

California Kitchen (6)

Then I was taught to eat it with the lettuce and wrap with it. It taste alot better with it.

California Kitchen (7)

I guess heavy meal had make me loves salad, as when they serve ‘Miso Salad’ (with grilled chicken Full – RM 22, Half – RM19, add grilled shrimps – RM14) my eyes was starring at the whole greenery plate, looks plain but tempting to me.

The saled is very fresh that top with Miso Dressing is my favourite among the others. Not too strong of miso saltiness that just makes me eating more than 2 plates.

California Kitchen (8)

If you are someone who loves some meat on your salad then ‘Chinese Chicken Salad’ (Full RM 23, Half RM 20) Soft Chicken Meat breast that top ontop with sweet and sour dressing is good to start off with by giving you more appetite.

California Kitchen (9)

‘Thai Crunsh Salad’ (Full – RM 29, Half – RM 26) that added on with peanut dressing do taste abit like Gado-Gado(indonesian food) but in American style. Love the peanut sauce that blend in well with the fresh salad.

California Kitchen (10)

‘Garlic Noodles’ with mild in taste, something light which is not too oily yet the flavour is just right. I would say its hard to cook to maitain all the mild flavours in it. (Add Chicken RM 29, Add Shrimp RM36, With Chicken and Shrimp RM39)

California Kitchen (11)

Surprise me not with ‘Kung Pao Spaghetti’ (add chicken RM29, Add Shrimp RM 36, With Chicken and Shrimp RM39) never thought that it could taste so good in spaghetti, springy spaghetti with a bit of spiciness added with fresh juicy prawns as I just loves this the most. Then only realize that this one of the best seller in the restaurant too.

California Kitchen (12)

When normally go for pizza I would request Tabasco but in CPK they do have another special sauce that goes on very well with the pizza which is Cholula Hot Sauce.

California Kitchen (13)

‘Peking Duck Pizza’ RM 33
Pan roasted duck breast, Mozzarella cheese, soy-glazed Shitake mushrooms, crispy wontons, silvered leek and ginger Hoisin Sauce.

California Kitchen (14)

Loves the crispy edge that been baked in the firewood oven had made the pizza taste much better but as I always like their thin crisp add on with the Chululo sauce, its just hard to resist.. Some people might find it weird as Peking Duck on Pizza?

California Kitchen (15)

As the meal coming to an ends, I tried on their Cocktails with their very own signature ‘CPK Tropical Tea’ RM18.
Dark Rum, Fresh Lemonade, splash of mango juice and fresh brew ice tea

California Kitchen (16)

California Kitchen (17)

‘Electric Lemonade’ RM 20
Vodka, Fresh lemonade and a splash of Blue Curacao

California Kitchen (18)

At CPK, their desert is hard to resist. With the quality that they added in, I do not mind to pay for the price and also just got to know that their desert is purely imported from the states, that is why they are abit pricey.

California Kitchen (19)

‘Red Velvet Cake’ is something hard to find in the market, I mean with the originality of it. If you are a big fan of the cake, then this is one of the place to hunt for it. RM 22

California Kitchen (20)

One of my favourite which introduce by Lyssa. ‘Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae’. Loves the thick chocolate base brownie top with a scoop of ice-cream and hot fudge sauce is hard for most girl to resist, if they do not plan to look at their weighing machine for the next few days. (its a bit sweet though but share it with 2 person its just perfect) RM19

California Kitchen (22)

‘Tiramisu’ in CPK had added into one of my favourite list. Abit of alcohol base with strong coffee flavour and very well layered soft base that once put into your mouth the aroma will burst into flavours and melt. Just as I expected. RM22

California Kitchen (23)

‘Chocolate Banana Cake’ is something new to me. Chocolate topping had added the extra kick in it yet it was not too sweet but with the soft spongy cake base.. you just imagine the taste. RM20
