[Remark] Its just so funny to see how I write a food blog post 3 years ago as this post was written 2009. Because of the pictures was deleted in blogspot now I have re-visited this place to make it available again. One of my favourite mee goreng – Mee Sotong place.
This is one of my favourite mee goreng stall or I would rate the best Mee Goreng in Penang, came back a few times, but did not manage to eat it, cuz it was close on Sunday and usually came back for the weekend and today, the crowd was suprisingly alot. I mean DAMM alot. I have to wait for 1 hour and 15 mins for this because it was holiday season. Wrong timing to eat.

The pricing consider one of the very reasonable that they are offering with the portion being served. There is usually a queue when you go at, wrong timing. This is the crowd that ta pau, have not include the crowd that are dining in.Those people that ta pau were at least 4 packs and above. Celaka

Tadaa…this is the ‘Mee Goreng Sotongthat been served. My favorite. Tambah Pedas pedas. Even though I cant really take spicy but to the hack, it taste bloody nice. The first 3 mouth I am already sweating like crazee, it is just worth the taste. Alot of sotong on top, taste a bit sweet and you have to stir the whole plate up. It has the ‘wok’ taste, not too dry compare to those like eating dry noodle. It only cost RM3.50 for this. (Now RM4)

mee sotong (6)

To those who could not take spicy noodle yet would want to enjoy this famous mee goreng, you can go for one without chili. Usually anything without chili is quite blend in taste. This plate of noodle is flavorful as they are fried with their own special sauce in it and mixture of sotong pull up the taste.

With the noodle served, you people must not miss this stall. directly beside it. Their Signature drink which is…………………..

‘ Coconut Shake’, it doesnt taste so sweet, have a very strong coconut juice taste, with vanilla-ice cream and of course the coconut meat in it. Only RM 2. It is very famous among all the patrons there.

and for this last drink as being regular, the taukeh very nice, make me 1 very special refreshing juice which is called Limau Shake’ which not many people know about it. After having those spicy food. This will be the perfect drink to go along with it. You will have the feeling ahhhh…so satisfied. RM1.50 for this wonderfull drink

Besides those, Ice Kacang in this stall seems a hit to many people, just that I do not really prefer it. Different taste bud.

A place that I used to come often when I was a kid with my grandparents, that I cant event remember when was the last time I been here. At this field at the end of the corner, there is one place that host many food. One of the reason, most people are here during lunch to tea time is for Lok Lok. This food court that have 2 different sessions that on the left side as where you see now is selling lok lok, char koey teow, and a few other stuff and during night, you will see another different version at CKLam’s Blog. Padang Brown(click here)

Padang Kota Lama (1)

This place is no longer famous to only local crowds, whereby now it had attracted alot of people from other states and for so many havent been here, decided to take my KL friends to visit this place. I am quite surprise that its super pack that so many people are hunting for tables. Of course when you are talking about, holiday in Penang, most of the hawker center will be packed with people.

Padang Kota Lama (2)

Types of lok lok that you can choose from, frozen food, to fresh meats and of course this were not only the option as the full option can filled up the whole table, as we ask the auntie remove those that we are not interested, and when we wanted, we can just head to their stalls and grab back to our table.

Padang Kota Lama (3)

In this area, there are about 3-6 lok lok stalls and I guess their difference is their satay sauce. Usually I mix all in, as the smaller bowl is to add in more spicy, that I can even sweat after having a few sticks.

Of course one of the reason that many people are here is that, Padang Brown Lok Lok are consider one of the cheapest rate, whereby my KL friends also got shock on their pricing.

Padang Kota Lama (4)

Next I was hunting for other food beside Lok Lok then I saw this stall located at the very far corner are packed with people, is this little Yong Tau Fu stall. Of course when you mention that Yong Tau Fu, mostly will relate back to Ampang, but Penang version of Yong Tau Fu is very much different compare to the KL version.

Padang Kota Lama (5)

So I decide to join the crowd and wanted to test how nice is this stall since its packed with elderly also, and I guess its something healthy? :p Price is very reasonable as its stated up in the board.

Padang Kota Lama (6)

and I can tell you that, all those ‘kiasu’ uncle and auntie is like rushing in clipping the choices of food they want, whereby its like a closing down sale!

Padang Kota Lama (7)

So you queue up in one end, take a bowl and chopsticks, then with all the choices available on the table like pig intestine, pork ball, taiwan sausages, homemade fish ball, bean curd, that many more to offer, then you just pass your bowl to the owner and let him cut.

Padang Kota Lama (8)

After 25 minutes in the queue, finally, this is my super big bowl of Yong Tau Fu filled with lots of ingredient, that I bring over to the table, the rest of the 4 of them their jaw dropped and ask me why so big bowl! Cuz I find it cheap and only cost me RM17 for this whole bowl.

Once I put down, they whole bowl starting to get drained out, the soup taste so good and sweet, that they keep drinking on the soup till the last drop and, homemade fish ball is superb, bouncy and soft, their own homemade items, I guess its a must take item that all make it very nice!

No wonder the queue is so long as this is one of a nice Yong Tau Fu stall that I have miss those kind of taste~

Its a highly Recommended stall if you do drop by at this area!
