Christmas is around the corner and many people are gearing up to prepare and cater to this happy celebrations of the year as you can see malls already filled with decorations and what is lacking is only food! As for this round, we are very happy to get specially invited for a home cook hearty meal preparation.

Ann is a entrepreneurial lady cum self learn chef had turn her home into a place to specialize cater for private functions that her intention is to create quality food instead of quantity food. You can expect the best from her few signature dish in her list and usually what customer do is that they give her a budget and just ask her to prepare all her signature dish.

homecook (6)

What is well prepared for us for the night is all oven baked specialties. Baked potatoes with capsicum .

homecook (7)

Baked Tomato . .

homecook (3)

Star of the night is this huge Pork Roll that had been specially hand pick by the chef to cook the best for us.

homecook (4)

Roast to perfection with the skin is so crunchy even with the knife cut thru it, it had a huge crack sound eccoed in the room and every one is just staring at it, just waiting to get a taste of it. Aroma of roast pork filled the room that makes every one even more hungry. The meat is so soft, juicy and the skin is crispy with a bit saltiness where it is suppose to be.

homecook (5)

For just 1 Pork Roll, it is enough to cater for 10-12 pax and depends how you cut it. It cost about RM160 per roll and have to book in advance.

homecook (1)

Next, we were showered with Lamb that had been slowly cook in the oven with her own special herbs that ensure the taste soak inside the meat.

homecook (2)

Such a huge chunk of meat and after cutting it, the meat certainly does not look dry and the smell of the oven baked lamb meat when she cut it off smells wonderfull

homecook (8)

This gravy is one of the secret to make the lamb even more nice.

homecook (9)

The homemade sauce is perfect that is not too thick, filled with a bit black pepper taste that pairs very well with the lamb.

homecook (10)

This is my great dinner for the night with juicy lamb and soft meat pork  . . .

homecook (11)

And lastly to get the satisfaction kick in, we get to enjoy Lemongrass drink which is just perfect to end the meal . .

After this meal, I certainly know that where to get one of the best prepare homecook meal and also knowing where I can host my private functions in the future. She only cater 20 pax max in one session, so that every one able to enjoy her food. The best part is, not only you need to go over to her private kitchen, you can also hire her to your place and cook provided you meet all her kitchen requirements on the order you place on the day!

Certainly, this is one of my recommendation for food if you want something unique . ..

Her signature dish currently for Christmas is Turkey, which is highly recommended by some of her friends. Do try out if you do order.

I might have been selfish in sharing food places at times or another way to say it, I have forgotten to blog about it till I look thru my old folder. If you are craving for Japanese food yet you are a bit tight in pocket? well, there is this place I went so often with my ex-colleague and friends, is this Nihon Kai, Japanese Restaurant located at Old Klang Road which is a hidden gem in the area.

For this post, you might think I am being lazy, reason is  I have lost this receipt and its a combine pictures of many occasions I went there.

nikon kai (1)

The shop is very hidden but yet they enjoy brisk business for lunch and dinner. One of the reason they are always full is their generous portion of serving at economic price.

nikon kai (2)

There are 2 levels in the shop that mostly cater for 2 – 4 pax and if you have bigger group you will be seated upstairs. .

nikon kai (3)

nikon kai (4)

So during my last week in my ex company, they did a farewell for me in this restaurant again, we book the whole tatami section . . .

Alright, this is a highly recommended Japanese restaurant by me if you are referring to the price and quality. Do not over expect it~

Road trip for food is definitely fun, especially when you go with a bunch of all hungry eaters that are responsible to eat and pay only, as on the way up north to Penang, we decided to do a little food hunt in Ipoh for early breakfast at Foh San (富山), and I have dine before at Ming Court Dim Sum which is quite disappointing  . .This round, we all agree to try out the famous Foh San Dim Sum which I heard so much over other bloggers or they rate it as best dim sum in Ipoh.

fu san (1)

We reach around 11am and there are still strong crowd inside the restaurant, with many people waiting for tables, as I have heard that strong crowd will pour into this outlet as early as 7am-9am which is the  most peak. .

fu san (2)

They used to operate in a smaller building as their business boom that had attracted many people from near and far, this is the new restaurant outlook which had expanded to 2 times bigger compare to their old outlet according to my friend.

fu san (3)

Modern tea house with nice floor titles, wooden chairs and marble and wooden tables are all well place around the restaurant. Now in order to get tables for pax of 10 person, all of us spread out equally into 4 sections, 2 at the bottom left and right and upper floor left and right. It really depends on your observation and luck to get a table, as you have to monitor your table closely with other public customer around too. . .

fu san (4)

If you come at 11am, quite a number of items are sold out, which is some of their signature item . .  will come back again for next round . .

fu san (5)

As all hungry eaters are ready to hunt for food and this plate I do not know what’s the name, its like a pao and sprinkle with pork floss, taste a bit dry and not my choice of item . .

fu san (6)

‘Malaikou’ is one of the best I had so far, super soft and spongy, and great in aroma . . have to eat it while its hot.

fu san (7)

Water-chestnut cake a bit more like jelly and slices water chestnut inside is fresh and something to eat after your hearty dim sum meal as closing ..

fu san (8)

fu san (9)

A simple delight that must not miss is Siew Mai, Har Kau then followed by some corn pork dim sum . .

fu san (10)

Pai Kuat

fu san (11)

Chicken Feet

fu san (12)

fu san (13)

Lai Ngau Pau – is pronounce something like that, which is a must eat item! this was the last piece I manage to get as the pork meat melts in your mouth and the gravy inside is just nice to make it perfect! highly Recommended. . .

fu san (14)

fu san (15)

Loh Mai Kai

fu san (16)

fu san (17)

Porridge is also one of their signature which is also a must have item to try, as the texture of it silky smooth, mild in taste and just add a bit of soy sauce is just perfect. Highly recommended

fu san (18)

Fried loh pak kou, not many restaurant can fried this evenly and nice, as this restaurant is exceptional that fried till some edges are a bit crispy, not too big piece and got wok hei . .

fu san (19)

fu san (20)

fu san (21)

fu san (22)

fu san (23)

Their Egg Tart turns out to be impressive too, crispy side soft egg yolk spread in the middle. .

fu san (24)

By the end of the day, we were all very satisfied with this meal as we rate this one of the best Dim Sum so far we have come across, fresh, and not only that, the most important is their price which turns out to be pretty cheap, as we paid only around RM18 per pax for alot of dish!

Now only I understand why so many people flock to this restaurant, even I did a road trip down to Ipoh just to eat this dum sum and they like it, and ask when shall we drive down again. No doubt that this is one of my recommended Dim Sum place if you do pass by Ipoh.

I have never been to Bali before, but its a must visit place for me very soon after I have got tempted by alot of my friends on their great scenery and especially on the food! Well, since I have not been there, and right now we can get a taste of how actually Balinese food taste like The UMA. I have actually dine at this restaurant a few times that I just did not blog about it and I guess I should now ..

uma (1)

The Uma which located in Kota Damansara next to the Strand that offers a great selection of Balinese food and best of all, its a shop that offers NON-HALAL food. The chef cum owner had work in Indonesia previously and decided to come back to spread Balinese cuisine to locals.

uma (2)

The whole interior was decorated to get as much feel of Balinese as possible, with wooden chairs and tables, and if you prefer something different for dining, you can head upstairs.

uma (3)

uma (4)

With simple decoration that put on the wall of scenery of paddy field, makes you feel like as if you are dining next to it and up in here, they do not have chairs, that offer to sit on the floor style with pillows for your comfort.

uma (6)

They are reasonably price with the portion they serve, you better opted to share and it is advice that for a pax of 3 person you order 2 person’s meal. If not enough then only decided to order extra.

uma (7)

Jus Apokat (Indonesian Avocado Juice) behind – RM 9
Fresh avocado & milk drizzled with chocolates! I am not a Avacado fan but its good, not too thick nor milky

Es Timun Segar (Fresh Cucumber, Lime and Mint juice) – RM 7
Refreshing cucumber mix with lime and some mint. Its the best drink among all, really a thirst quencher. I do not mind to have another 3 more glass. Highly recommended~

uma (8)

Soda Gembira – Milky Air Bandung

uma (9)

Roselle another refreshing drink . . .

I have always love F&B industry. I just do not know why, as my passion grew stronger in this industry. Just wish one day I can own one cafe too. Its like how I feel very happy when I heard any of my friend are into F&B business, with most of them are quite successful. Another friend that I am proud off that he started his small little cafe Coffee Chemistry Signature  which is quite well know among my circle of friends that located in Sunway Giza (click here) and now he had expand to a new classy and bigger outlet.

Since he just open his new outlet, me and my friend just head there to had a simple dinner and also to try out some of their new range of food.

Coffee Chemistry (1)

With new rebranding under Coffee Chemistry Signature that located on the ground floor of newly open First Subang Mall that host a few famous brand like Overtime, Library, Chatime and a few more.

Coffee Chemistry (2)

Coffee Chemistry Signature had a totally new concept compare to their first outlet as I guess that they have improve more and had turn to a more serious restaurant now.

Coffee Chemistry (3)

A place which is more for dining purposes that had divided into two sections.

Coffee Chemistry (4)

They also have a more private sections which can host about 8-10 pax at one go.

Coffee Chemistry (5)

For students or more leisure working people who like a place to chill can head to their cozy sofa area, sunk your ass there, order a drink and you can just relax there or can make yourself busy.

Coffee Chemistry (6)

Busy as in they have many types of board game for you to play.

Coffee Chemistry (7)

Flipping thru their menu, they have extend more food and choice of drinks already.

Sometimes to dine in a restaurant to give us good memory, food taste definitely will attract us to be back there as there is one new restaurant with its catchy name Chyniss Restaurant which a new restaurant located in SS2 mall that will serve best Chinese cuisine that combines into under one roof..

[Close Down]chyniss (1)

chyniss (2)

chyniss (3)

chyniss (5)

chyniss (6)

Tawau Special Fish Maw Soup with chinese wine. This huge bowl are able to serve 4-8 pax and if you love your soup to be rich in ingredient, this is one soup I am recommending. The ingredient in it is very generous that every spoonfull is chewable with it. Some people might not like it because of the texture or too rich in ingredient as we find it is just nice for all of us.

chyniss (7)

3 Cup chicken known as Sam Pui Kai

chyniss (8)

Which is surprisingly good, cuz it is similar to the taste that I had it when I was in Taiwan with strong taste and well coated sauce on the chicken and cook till soft. If you eat just like that, the taste might a bit too strong, and as along with rice, its just perfect. Basil leaves might look alot as I find it, the taste is not too strong.

chyniss (9)

Pork meat that had been soaked for a few days in herbs, comes this good dish ‘Salted Pork knuckle’. Look solid from its look, once you hear the cracking sound of the skin in betwee, that is where your saliva start dripping with its a bit salted herbs aroma filled the air. Pork lovers, this might be one of the dish for you to hunt for.

chyniss (10)

One of the most unique vegetable that for the first time I taste on it is called ‘Moonflower’ that is very nutritious that cook in clear fried style. Texture of it is very soft and abit soggy, as it was well fried in clear style.

chyniss (11)

Fried Garupa Fish with Thai style in plum sauce.

chyniss (12)

With fish meat been slice out with equal thickness then deep fried till its outer layer is crispy then showers along with the sauces. Normally, I do not really take fish, as the fish meat is very fresh and the best is the sauce that soaks onto the crispy skin and soft fish meat.

chyniss (14)

Next dish that open our eyes big big is by serving this huge ‘Crab in Kam Heong style’.It was well fried with wok hei and taste of kam hiong just soak onto the crab shell and meat. We just enjoy this dish.

There are three sizes of crabs available here at Chyniis; Indonesian Mud Crab in medium (RM50 per kg) and large (RM75 per kg) size, and Australian Mud Crab which is huge (RM120 per kg).

chyniss (13)

Next that me and Jason really like it is this, ‘Sauteed Lai Mien’ . love the texture of the noodle which is springy and well fried. Recommended~

chyniss (15)

One man behind this great this is this chef that had been one of the neigbourhood for many years. . No wonder all his dish that prepared are very aromatic and delicious.

chyniss (16)

One of the most unique desert that you must try, but it is not always available, depends on your luck if the chef do prepare it for the day.

I have no doubt that this is one of a recommended restaurant if you are hunting for nice chinese food both the aroma and taste will thrill you. The restaurant is also conveniet that jockey service is available directly infront of the restaurant for arond RM4-RM5.
