大山脚 X 老巷子 Dua Sua Ka cafe X De Antique is one of a famous cafe in Bukit Mertajam Penang. Tuck right in the middle of Bukit Mertajam town and certainly a place where you can park your car and walk around to find famous food around the area. I Am not familiar with the town there but certainty will find time to explore more.

there will be a chance for you to miss this cafe is it sits in a row of pre-war housesits in 1 way street. Just slow down and turn right at the junction to this big open space carpark.

Certainly a place for instagram worthy from outside to interior. outsides does not look like you are in Penang also.
Inside is design with 2 cafe. Front desk serve local cuisine and local coffee as you walk towards the back part is the cafe kind.

Dua Sua Ka cafe menu is pretty direct.They have big open space upstairs and a place fory ou to chill, chat. There is NO wi-fi in this cafe. Don bother bringing your laptop there to work.

What i read in google is their Watermelon cake is their famous signature. Turns out to be better than expected. watermelon is the whole piece as not the dehytrate version. Kinda fresh and cripsy. Natural sweetness is there, the cream is not too sweet and the base is pretty decent.

Goes well with their coffee. Not the acidic kind that suits to my liking.

Best coffee at AE Coffee @ Penang

It was very random and was aiming for coffee after breakfast. Hit into google to find nearby cafe and AE Coffee was in the list with 4.9 google rating which is super impressive. Only then realize that they are new kid on the block. Operate since end 2022. I would now rate them one of the Best coffee or cafe in Penang is AE Coffee.

Again Ae cafe, their coffee and pastries suits to my liking

This is indeed a small cafe operating nearby Penang Road.

A cafe that is run by 1st runner up in Barista Competition. after I saw this rights behind the counter, my expectation do change higher little. was here aiming to get long black and latte ended up need to aim Single Origin.

2 pager coffee and also some pastries at the counter. all the look of it sure do look very tempting.

Look for a transparent mini menu that sits above the order tab. There is where their little special hidden menu of the day or cake of the day is available. On that day Tiramisu with Alcohol and Cheesecake(which is their signature) is on.

As we were so full, was here for coffee and the pastries were too tempting ended up with cakes and Madeline for the morning.
Madeline @ RM 3 is bake to perfection as I always love mine with the little burnt solid edges then in the middle is soft and fluffy butter cake base. This is awesomely good to pair with my single Origin. Oh miy goawd! Must intro you their Tiramisu@ RM 18. It is da bomb or one of the best I have come across in Penang. It is different version compare to the famous tiramisu Narrow Marrow

This is a style by its own, topped with nice cocoa powder, and the base is soft airy light cloud mascarpone cheese and espresso sponge at the bottom with alcohol is not too heavy yet goes well flavour by itself or best pair with their coffee.
My Single origin is Guatamela. the mild fragrant body, less acidic and the aftertaste is just amazing. medium roast kind of coffee aroma stays easily 10 mins. Best! Drink while its hot is mild fruity base yet near room temperature its like chocolaty.

Certainly this is one of my favourite cafe place in Penang for a good cuppa.

Narrow Marrow Cafe @ Penang

Cafe in Penang. Which is the best? I was often recommended to this Narrow Marrow located in Beach Street is one of the best cafe in Penang. It win many cafe hoppers heart of its classic ambiance, offering of fresh made Tiramisu and not to miss out their signature Tuak in Penang.

If you are looking for a place to chill with nice ambiance, I have to agree with many that this could be perhaps one of my favourite cafe ambiance in Penang. Taste of industrial and tastefully decorated with classic scope, mixture of black disk, and other unique antinque. love their Bar table too.

Best of all, it is also one of the best chill out spot with air condition full blast.Other variety of fresh cakes available. Happy Hunting. Espresso Baileys Tiramisu is their signature @ RM 22 per piece. Worth it.

Their Signature Alcoholic Tiramisu. Freshly done from the kitchen. It is soft, ,moist and punch with flavour. Generous amount of cocoa powder too.

Lime Tuak is another drink which is recommended. Super refreshing and punch you with a note of sourness to my linking. Tuak after taste flavour just flows in after that. A right balance.

Ome by Spacebar Coffee @ Penang

Cafe hopping in Penang is one of the activity for travelers to do when they are in Heritage area. Pack with quite alot cafe around the area, Ome by Spacebar Coffee at Lorong Toh Aka is one of the cafe that is introduce by my KL friend. Check this place out with instagrammer @sxnflxwer_ which is also her introduction to this place.

Operating in one of the prewar houses, fit with raw walls, industrial mining lighting and wood elements as the table seating do match it well.

They do have some merchandises available too.

Such a compact cafe, seating arrangement here is very very limited. So most of the people are here to check out the cafe and space is the limitation, many walk away too.

I was told that their homemade bread is a bit hit among the coffee drinkers.

The cafe is fully focus on serving coffee and therefore not much food is available. Specialty coffee is one of their strength too.

A glass of Latte @ RM 10, is a decently price coffee. Not too bad as the ratio of milk and their coffee blend do mix very well. both did not overpower each other. A hint of nice aromatic coffee flavor is prominent as after taste.

seating outside could be nice but it could be very warm too as there are 3 air con compressor sitting right on top of it. Parking here is nightmare too. So do prepare to walk around.

So yah, one of a nicer cafe that serve a better coffee in Penang. I have not done much cafe hunting in Penang, so yah. If you do have do leave a comment below.

Le Petit Four Patisserie @ Penang

Another cafe that was recommended by my friends is this Le Petit Four Patisserie that had been operating for quite a while in their old location in Hutton lane and they have just shifted to this new location about 5 months ago. Was told that their croissant is da bomb, and I should not miss it.

also read up some other bloggers mention that the owner is a Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie graduates in France. Therefore my expectation would be different.

the cafe sits right at the main street of Beach street, where it is just a stone throw away from the famous mural zone.

A cafe with its classic french looking is indeed quite nicely done up. Chequred tiles flooring x cemment with industrial furniture and wooden marble counter, adds up the whole ambiance of it.

A cafe where we decided to gather to meet my Australian friend and I think I am quite late to reach this cafe as we I reach around 4.30pm where most of the items already sold out. Their scones seems to be quite popular here too as I read from other blogs.

coffee here is slightly milder as the milk taste is slightly strong but not a bad cup though.

Caramel Cheesecake

When I see Eclair, I am all excited over it. I have yet found a nice one yet in Malaysia.

Quite disappointing as the texture is hard, dry and not soft with slight chewy. It could be that the Patisserie had been left in the fridge for long time, to give this effect.

Definitely a great catch up with my friends and oh well, desserts were below my expectation and would certainly come back to pay them a visit again to try out other items. Parking here quite be a huge challenge. I park at Lebuh Victoria Private parking space at RM 5 per entry and walk over.

Another new cafe worth to check it out as the coffee suits my palate. Kafka

Narrow Marrow @ Carnarvon Street

IF you are looking for very rustic cafe, then Narrow Marrow at Penang is a little quirky cafe that will impress you with their outlet decor that is filled with rustic and slightly retro feel to it.. Operating in one of a small pre-war heritage shop and indeed the place is quite narrow and tight along the road of Carnarvon Street.

A wall that is near wash off, that give you a glimpese and feel of this rustic feeling. Filled with old classic hawker chairs that made of thin mettle plate and strong solid iron base is just a nice nostalgic feeling added.

We drop by here for their coffee and also their well known homemade Sarawak version of Tuak. In this super hot weather, that sure gifts you the mood of refreshing and yet there is a mild taste of sourish fermentation taste. It is either you like it or you do not like it.
