Last weekend, I had a very short trip back to Penang to help my friend photo shoot on his new range of food that going to promote for the next 6 months which I have previously blog about it (click here to view) and while I was there, I manage to think back to find a place that it had been long time have never dine there. Kedai Kopi Chip Heng

When I was a kid, my dad used to bring me here, that I used to bugged him on weekends, as it was quite a distance from Penang to mainland to hunt for this meal and at that time I was addicted to their soup taste, sour veggie.

Yam Rice

When I reach there, I remember one of the shop used to be my favourite but I could not remember which is the one as there are 2 shops side by side selling the same thing but different taste, as I lost my memory, I just chin chai entered one of the shop which turns to be Kedai Kopi Chip Heng.

Yam Rice (2)

What they sell is called, Yam Rice (one of their main selling item) to go along with soup that filled with mixture of pig’s spare part.

Yam Rice (4)

You can choose the parts that want to be added in into your bowl or mix everything ( I love it to be mix of everything) in the small bowl boil it for a while till its cook, then they will add the soup after that.

Yam Rice (3)

Yam Rice (5)

This is ‘Salted Vegetable Soup with Pork Innards’ with one of their special taste was the soup base, which is created much from salted veggie (Kiam Chai – in hokkien) and it had been quite some time since I last taste it and find it another feel like sour plum which happens to be quite strong which me and my friend find it quite weird but as I remember the when I was a kid it doesn’t taste like that (more on sour veggie).

Yam Rice (6)

Then the auntie introduce us their ‘Tau Yew Bak’ that had been stew for quite some time till the pork intestine its very soft and a bit chewy and if the meat would have been softer a bit it would have been perfect. I just love the taste of the Tau Yew as it similar to my grandma’s cooking that I had long missed. We just finish this bowl within seconds.

Yam Rice (7)

If you are in this coffee shop and ordered white rice it would be just very weird (would be more like ordering Wan Tan Mee without Wantan) as they are famous for their ‘Yam Rice’.

Love the Yam Rice that have diced yam cubes are deep – fried to a crisp, add in sauteed dried shrimps to cook with the rice till its not too dry is just delicious to go along with the soup.

Yam Rice (8)

The best part is all the pig spare part must dip with their special ‘In house Chili’ to add in the kick of it.

After finishing the meal, I am still not satisfied that it doesn’t give me the umph of it then went to the next stall to tap au back their taste and while I was at home after reheat it again, I just found out that that’s the shop I wanted to go with its strong taste of sour veggie. Both shop also had their own customer with different taste wise, hence for me, I love the one next to this shop and as I remember, my cousin loves this shop compare to the one I like. (depends on your taste bud)

Total damage for 2 pax is RM15 including drinks which we find it very cheap.

Most of the time back to Penang, I will always go hunt my fav Ramlee burger not until recently the favourite stall had expand its stall. Its like you play restaurant city in FB. Even the some part of the stall got sponsored by other company. With 1 helper, hire additional 2 to help out but cannot deny that, this is one of the best burger to eat in town. Never fail to impress.

An hour after our breakfast and check-in into hotel, headed to this placed called Jonker’s walk area. To try out the Chicken Rice ball. A thing that was told must not miss.
When we reach there, the crowd is just so gilar.. a bunch of people waiting outside including us under the hot sun. Luckily, we did not wait long to be seated inside. This picture of queing is after our meal. Siau..even people take umbrella to que.

The ah pek never stop chopping on the chicken.

The reason of so many people waiting outside is the shop have limited space.

What I have been told by my friend, that the chili here is very nice. Me being want to try on everything, so just take lah~

The most famous thing in this shop is the ‘Rice Ball’. I find it its quite sticky, yet tasteless. If it was abit dry and flavourful, surely it would be nice.
The chicken chop till so geli and was inform that the ah pek had help us to remove the bone. Nothing special on the chicken to comment about.
This shop is nothing special about it which I feel, there is other chicken shop in KL or PG taste much better than this. Just that its in Rice ball form but one of the most famous shop around the area. What I feel on this shop is OVERRATED!

Continue my very back date post. It was on the 4th day in our travel itinerary, that we have to wake up pretty early to go to Wong Tai Sin. For me, I always go to a trip I slept very little. Go walk around till very late, wake up early and walk again and enjoy my breakfast. So after every 1 got ready so my friend bring us to this shop…

This shop were run by this 2 lady, busy serving us that suddenly come with a group of ppl. My friend told me that the ‘Chee Cheong Fun’ very nice and also the ‘Siew Mai’.

I just enjoy eating their ‘Chee Cheong Fun add with Siew Mai’ here, is quite different from what I had in PG or KL which is they did put peanut, chili, and sweet sauce. HKD12

I after finish the first portion and I enjoy my ‘Siew Mai’, I ordered another one. It sure do have the canteen feel that I ate when I was in primary school. 🙂 HKD7

This is how I enjoyed my food. Pasar Malam style. That’s y standing nearby the drain. So when the sauce drip will go in there not on the floor which makes it geli!

I just do not know where am I, so the easiest point for me is just take the picture. 😀
There is a 7-11 next to it.

After a quick breakfast, we faster faster head to Wong Tai Sin, but glad that it was on Sunday morning, so the crowd wouldn’t be that much.

This is the only day that I have taken the train so empty as it was early morning and the best part is, you have to zoom your eyes very far till only you get to see the end part of it and I wasn’t standing on the other end, behind me there are still like 3-4 more compartments. Normally, the train is sardin pack with ppl.

Surely this train is much faster and bigger compare to our very own local Putra LRT or KTM Komuter.

Imagine, our Putra LRT x10 sardine pack like every morning rushing hour.

After short ride and exchanges of stations we had reach Wong Tai Sin station.

This is the exit that lead to the entrance of the temple.
We took a lot of pictures from the very eating spree till here and already took more than 100++ pictures already. Sot liau!

The main entrance that lead to the temple.

What my friend told us that, the temple really very ‘lenggg’ as what you wish for will come true. This is more real when during Chinese New Year everyone is trying to be the first and you have to squeeze through and cramp with the ppl as if you are the very first person to put in the joss stick what you had wish for is more ‘lenggg’.
It will be once in a blue moon I go for Tiew Cheam or shaking a holy stick which you were be given a cylinder that fills with a lot of sticks then you knell and start to tell the god what you wish for and look for a guidance. Then a stick will fall down and you have to go to a counter to take what it meant. There are good luck and bad luck.
For the very first time, when I Tiew Cheam, it happened very fast, just within a minute a stick fell.
more pics of the temple which I didnt capture : Wong Tai Sin Temple

So I remembered the stick number and went to claim what it meant, too bad it was in Chinese and have to locate a stall to help me to translate which is located behind this stalls.

The guy in that stall doesn’t look genuine as before me, there is a very young pretty lady and that guy told her that, ohh..your luck this year no good, then you have to do this and that and will perform a small ritual for you on the spot. Then it took place and it just took around 5 minutes for the whole process. When I saw the lady what she paid to that guy, I got shock. What the hell…this short thing cost HKD500? Wah lau eh..the earnings in here is even better than Doctors.

Then next, it was me and my friends turn, so I decided to let her go first as always ladies first. Surprisingly, what the guy said to the lady is nearly the same version as spoken to my friend. Then asking her would she want to perform the ritual or not. Of course we weren’t very superstitious, DON WANT Lah!!!! (HKD500…= RM250) cuz we were just playing around see how this kind of thing and ppl want to tell us. Then said that what she got in the paper is no good this and that

Next it was my turn, as the guys face had turn very unsatisfactory as knowing us are not ‘WATER FISH’ (people that are easy to believe on what the other person say or easy to be con). What he told me is the same as what he told my fried. WTF!!!! And we were very piss off… as my friend was behind me to help me to listen what he wanted to say cuz I’m not really good in Cantonese and for a translation in that paper cost HKD20. Totally not worth it and told the rest of my friend to try out other stalls. Wouldn’t careless on it lahh..just that dislike that guys attitude on trying to CON us.

What you seen in the pic is exactly converts on the back ally how many fortune teller are there.. The rest what my friend got is their feedback from it is more genuine.

As I always watch Hong Kong series that this ‘fan’ thingy is very good for luck as it spins, your bad luck away and bring in good luck. . . . So kaypo a bit and grab 2.
Both cost me HKD60 after a great bargain from my friend.

Next itinerary on the list is go back change and bath, head to Hong Kong most expensive shopping area. Central and dinner at one of the best Japanese restaurant which my friend had arranged.

It was Sunday and do not know what to eat..then go google up. Found out this place then remember that my friends from Pg brought me there years back. They said that one of the very nice Lam Mee to dine there. Instantly go and kidnap my friend to dine with me.

After agak agak trying hard to remember where is it located and manage to find out at last.

The restaurant does not offer much variety but then sufficient to satisfy you but the crowd is still so pack. Full house from the time we sat till we left.

Looking nearby and found out that at alot ppl ordering the ‘Yong Tau Fu I only ordered, Fried Sui Kow, Fish balls and Fu Chuk. It was so so only. Cost RM0.80 per piece.

This is their famous ‘Lam Mee as previously mention by my friend that it was very nice. Still think that last time its much better compare to now.RM4.50 for this.

This is the ‘Dry Mee which taste not so good. More like mee kicap. Rather disappointing on this one as my friend did not finish the meal also. RM4.50 for this.

This is my very very first time that I ate burger in the afternoon. Usually this kind of stall is during at night onli can find or dine at night but just that coincidence saw this stall then stop by and order. The most surprising is for the first time I also see a burger stall doing promotion as in the banner.

The stall which is located on the junction whereby every 1 can see it.

Ermm..declare that they are No.1 Francais of burger chain..no idea..what bout Ramlee burger?

This guy is so busy preparing for the burger as I was waiting my burger for at least 20 minutes. Was not in the right timing as the customer before me she order 15 burger.

This is during my turn also have so many order in que.

Of course the only thing different of the order from PG and KL is the burger special.. In KL is burger special = Burger egg. Y don they called it that. As in PG burger special means egg + Cheese. Funny for KL.

Tadaa…nearly done.

This is my order of ‘Burger Special + Cheese’ RM4.80 but got disc of 80cents because he asked me why I keep taking photo’s from his stall, told him that I am a food hunter and will post in my blog. Then after he heard that he charge me RM4 only. I was so happy for the first time I got paid RM0.80 for helping to post. A good start to mee. hehehe.

This is another burger which is the plain chicken burger. Actually the taste of the burger is just so so. Again compare to pg its still some diff.
