Over the weekend, I was attending a Photography workshop at Bankers Club, and of course there are breaks in between. Then hit down to dinner and walk pass thru Sungai Wang to head to Lot 10 Hutong, I came across this Polo Bun Shop by the name Polo Zai Bakery Cafe. I love polo bun alot and looking at the texture of the bread surely looks tempting and decided to buy 1 after dinner to test the quality.

Guess what? After buy 1 on the first night, we ended up ta pau and buy for the next 2 days of the workshop, including last night. 😀

Some fact of Polo bun or 菠萝包 is the Hong Kong style of bun and very popular in Hong Kong. The word 菠萝 is also a Hong Kong word meaning ‘pineapple’ where the skin of the bun looks like a pineapple.

Now at Polozai Bakery Cafe, they have mastered and specialized in baking these Polo bun with 16 choices of creative and delicious flavors to choose from. I believe they are freshly baked daily to get the freshness and quality of it. You will be tempted by the smell of it although its not so strong as compare to Roti Boy.

I have tried  a few flavours over the past few days. One of the original which is Polo Butter is always the classic. With the cripsy crumbs on the top and butter spread at the base/ bottom @ RM 2.80.

Next I try their Custard Polo Bun, crust is the same as the filling is custard. Find that the filling of custard is not well spread out as I bite half of the bun still there is no sign of the custard and only realize is only 1/4 of the bun, which is one of the corner.

To be adventourous, we bought alot a few flavours such as Durians. Durian turns out to be pretty good and generous with the ingredient, with the durian flesh sticking out like that, can see that they are using fresh durian to insert as the filling.

Another 2 we tapau is Cheeze and Polo Ham Sausage.

The range of their bun are from RM2.80 – RM 5 depends on which selection you are aftering. For first timer, I would definately recommend their classic signature which is the Polo Bun, follow by Custard or durian.

Overall, the crust of the top is not bad, not too sweet and bun is pretty soft. Can say that one of the best Polo Bun that I came across, in overall taste and if they are serve pippin hot or warm, it would surely be one of the top seller in Sungwai Wang.

Bandung is like consider a shopping paradise where we can purchase alot of goods from. Most of the factory outlet there are filled with some genuine, some rejects and some fakes outlets. Of course it depends on your budget and the area that you are heading to. Bandung have 3 districts that are famous for shopping. As the place I am staying is called Dago, an area which is only 5 minutes walk out to this great factory outlet shopping district.

bandung shop

In the streets of Dago, located at downtown area is where this factory outlet are located. The first factory outlet that I went, Glamour already cost me 60% of my budget alocated for shopping. The clothing materil is good, the brand that I love Nudie Jeans which is a famous brand in Australia, is available in this outlet too, took us about 2 hours in this shop as its huge in there. Besides that, can get Polo, Paul Smith, Hugoboss, Ed Hardy, and many more at a cheap price, ranging from ID 45 000 – ID 500,000, which means as cheap from RM20-RM300.

bandung shop (2)

The whole streets have about 20 outlets here, so be prepare to get heavy damage here, do prepare alot of cash when you do come here, major credit cards are accepted too.

bandung shop (3)

In this area also do have Indonesia local designer too, which is about 15 minutes walk from here.

Next destination we went for shopping was highly recommended by my friend is Setiabudi area that is filled with alot of branded factory outlet and one of the famous one in the area that shall not miss is ‘Ruman Mode’ which host alot of international branded brands with some of them are rejects.

bandung shop (5)

Its more like a open concept area and it might look nobody outside but inside the factory outlet, its filled with LOTS of people. They have cafe and Javanese coffee is available here too, besides this the first shop we went in sell LV, Gucci bags with very reasonable price.

This is the 2nd area that I got totally broke for my first day of shopping. Just took me half a day to spend all my money.

The outlet is located at the streets of  41 Jalan. Dr. Setiabudi. All taxi driver SURE know this place.

Second day of our trip. As we wake up early and gather ready to go and hunt for food. Previously at Mong Kok I did spot a shop there already as it was quite packed with people but I think every shop also was packed with ppl that night.

While we reached LangHam Place to go for shopping and we found out that we were too early. Most of the shop had not open yet so we went to look for breakfast. Ask around for the stall on the street where will he recommend us to eat and he ask us walk walk walk further down bout 2 blocks away and turn right.

So ended up in Mong Kok again for the first night when we came out from the subway tunnel. Then I instantly point to the shoop that I spotted before and ask every 1 go in and eat.

I don know how to read chinese so what the heck. Just take pictures and post it up. The funny thing in the restaurant is always ‘A Chan’, ‘B Chan’, ‘C Chan’ means like set A or B or C. Really a Hong kong tea house. Kekekek.
As for me, I only know how to see and point. A half banana like me which know how to speak but do not know how to read, so the only thing to rely on during order food of course is the Pictures. If the pictures quality is good and the food take tempting and come out SUCKS also no choice.
If I am not mistaken this is ‘Set G’ HKD 20 which is 1 ‘Milk Tea’ and ‘Polo Bun’. First thing first. I must say that the milk tea here is far much nicer that any of the restaurant in Malaysia can offer. 10x better than Kim Gary or watever Hong kong restaurant we have. The thickness of the tea and the milk taste is just there. A satisfying drink to start off with.
and of course my very favourite and not to be miss during in Hong Kong which is of course the ‘Polo Pau‘. The top, is perfectly backed and the crust is sweet, the bun is soft and the butter is melting to suits the taste of it. One bite will just take your breath away. This might not be the best polo bauz in the area but to me, it is satisfying though which I had 2.
This is what I order besides the Set G. The name is ‘Jar Jiang Mian if not mistaken, and the taste to me till today is still fresh in my mind and craving for more of it. The best thing is the noodle of course, it is curley curley and just don know how to tell why the wantan noodle in Hong Kong is much better than in Malaysia. The meat is soft, the sauce is sour and abit spicy. When you mix and stir it together, you just want to have more of it. HKD 24
My friend order the Koey Teow Soup’ Noting fancy about it. The soup is like plain water, the koey toew is normal. Plain plain like dat also around HKD 24.

Next of course not to be miss in Hong Kong which is a MUST eat food. ‘Wan Tan Noodle’. As I say on the Jar Jiang Mian above the noodle is just so nice and curley curley and you can just bite the strand of it. It is abit solid which makes you want to salivate more of the noodle. The soup base is good, which had the taste of wantan and they are surely not to kiam siap on the WanTan. Inside it, is filled with 2 big prawns and the taste of it, you would just want to ask for more. 3 is not enough, to satisfaction you need another 2 which makes just ngam ngam. HKD 24

The last dish which is thing the look is kinda funny, ‘Macaroni with Ham’. I feel like the soup taste really macaroni and the ham is just ham. Noting much to comment on this as I only try the soup base.
and of course.. all of us are very full and satisfy with our breakfast…Time to Head to SHOPPING!!!!!!!
