Pork Chop

Browsing

During MCO, alot of us like suddenly become masterchef! I have seen suddenly my friend bake such a nice cake. For me, I always call my cooking as Chin Chai cook (means simply cook). This is my 15 minutes Chin Chai Cook Pork Steak during the period.

This is my first time cooking pork chop:
when I put into my @taufulou instagram stories, I always got curse by my friend, saying that the way I cook is not #chinchaicook at all. Some even challenge me to share my recipe. When i Chin Chai cook, I really mean it. No recipe, with actual measurement. All about AGAK-AGAK.

Once I find my cooking pass, then I will start to track back what I have done, like this home cook pork steak.

home cook recipe

Here you go. My chin Chai cook recipe.
1. Pork Steak
2. Fresh Garlic
3. Fresh Thype
4. Potato – Cuz I want to do Mash Potato

Marinate: Simple:

  1. Sprinkle Black Pepper
  2. Sprinkle Salt
  3. Sprinkle any other ingredient you think you like.
    1. Add only. My second round cooking, I add in herbs.

Remark: Important steps: If you wash your steak! Do remember use clean cloth/ tissue towel to dry it off. If not when you put into your frying pan, you gonna have huge fountain of oil and could burn your hand cuz of water in it. REMEMBER!

[Update: 1/5/2016 – now have move to SS2)

Damansara Uptown is famous for a eatery place whereby we can hunt a few nice place to eat with a great mix. One of the latest addition outlet to the area is this Private Kitchen that I have been told that they started off with small little privite dining and its popularity had grown then they have to operate into a shop. Hence Private Kitchen was the name and now is available in bigger space  with both ground floor and first floor (more for private functions or family gathering).

Private Kitchen (1)

I have travel to Hong Kong a few times and yet find something similar here. Hong Kong food is definately must not miss. Well this new discovery,Private Kitchen is no ordinary shop like those restaurant in shopping mall as they are offering more authentic home cook Hong Kong Cuisine. The man behind the master creation is Chef Lam with experience of more than 20 years on him. Being in Malaysia for less than 18 months, he had creatively come out with many unique dish to impress.

Private Kitchen (2)

A cosy dining area with wooden chairs with many pictures that resemble on Hong Kong that certainly makes you think you are in Hong Kong Restaurant.

Private Kitchen (3)

Private Kitchen (4)

Private Kitchen (5)

Chicken wings are well deep fried to golden brown, crisps on all edges, with mild spicy and salty at the end. A great way to start off our dinner.

Private Kitchen (6)

Follow by this delicious Smoke Duck with Mango. Juicy and chewy slice of smoke duck which is aromatic and blend well with light sour sweet mango, perfect! – recommended

Private Kitchen (7)

I love my meal to start off with soup, and this double boil soup.

Private Kitchen (8)

Is just a great way to make our stomach warm. Boil along with pumpkin, pork and some other ingredient makes the soup sweet enough just as I like or its just me that love soup, any kind of soup is tasty to me. 🙂

Private Kitchen (9)

As we all had the introduction of the meal, then we head to the next meal section which is their set lunch menu that I am totally jealous with most of the office worker working around the area. Set lunch start off with as low as RM 7.90 and below are some of the items can be found.

Hong Kong style steamed chicken in sand ginger powder noodle soup @ RM 9.50

Private Kitchen (11)

Finely chop ginger slices is one of the extra condiments that you must not miss out to pair with the chicken. I finish it and asked for another additional. Not too spicy ginger taste which had tone down and suits many people I think. Well, if you are not a ginger person its worth for you to give it a try.

Private Kitchen (12)

This is no ordinary steam white chicken. Been perfectly marinated and bath with ginger serve along with hot soup noodle is one of the way to satisfy your lunch. Soft tender chicken meat, with slightly fragrant sauce that blends well with the noodle soup. If I drink the sauce it will be too salty as it is not meant to drink that way. I pour the gravy into the soup it made it extra flavorful.

Private Kitchen (10)

noodle in the soup to pair with the chicken

Private Kitchen (13)

Noodles with mince meat & fried egg in tomato soup @ RM 7.50

Private Kitchen (14)

This is no ordinary instant noodle. Well, I often got scolded for ordering instant noodle at restaurant because of the pricing and its easy to cook. Sometimes I just crave for it and cant help it. This here is a must try. It look pretty ordinary or simple yet the hidden ingredient why I love it so much is they cook their own soup base with tomato and pork that makes it sweet enough (something like ‘Loh Shun Tong’) filled with mince meat and a simple sunny side up. Love the soup as its slightly sour tomato base and we just finish it within seconds as the instant noodle cook to springy. – highly recommended

Private Kitchen (16)

If you love to have some pork, then you can opt for this Typhoon shelter noodles with Pork Chop in Chili and Garlic Soup @ RM 15

Private Kitchen (15)

Comes with deep fried pork as the side dish and noodle, perfect for raining weather at this moment.

Private Kitchen (18)

Stir Fried Pork Ribs with Rice @ RM 12.90

Sweet and soup pork ribs might looks ordinary, but this is a well balance taste, mild sweet and more pineapple sour taste as they cook along where you can buy chunks of pinapple. Deep fried pork are in cubes and soft that pairs well with the rice.

Private Kitchen (20)

Fried Rice Portuguese Style with braised pork belly & Seafood @ RM 16 is filled with wok hei and too bad that they don have sambal or chili oil to pair with. If not it would make it more outstanding.

Private Kitchen (21)

Private Kitchen Stir Fried Prime Beef Fillet with Strawberry Pepper Sauce @ RM28

Now lets head to more of its ala-carte menu. Begins with this is pretty unique dish with me, as strawberry is being used to cook along in this dish.Cook till the gravy is well coated onto the beef, tender soft and juicy with mild pepper spicy after taste makes it a great dish for me.

Private Kitchen (22)

Something creamy and palatable then go for this one of my favorite for the night, Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Special Salad Sauce @ RM32. Me and Ken just enjoying this dish by just munching it half a plate with it well coated salad sauce, sweet and slightly creamy that make it appetizing.

Private Kitchen (23)

Creating your taste bud dancing, Stir Fried Squids with vermicelli   in Special Chili Sauce is next to hunt for. YOu have to eat it pretty fast and if not, the vermicelli will soak the soup pretty instantly. Soup taste of it is pretty amazing lime, sour spicy and squid is just fresh, chewy bouncy as I like. RM 28

Private Kitchen (24)

oh oh, this dish is pretty Hong Kong style as Portuguese Style Baked Chicken Chop @ RM 18. Slightly can taste on powdery ginger curry taste which definitely relates back to HOng Kong dish as the chef hvae slightly change the ingredient as he mention the ingredient here is pretty good and the base of it is potato is amazing. -Recommended when you have your rice.

Some of you might find the curry slightly powdery but that is what Hong Kong curry taste like. 😉

Private Kitchen (25)

I know I am being called taufulou, yet this is another amazing by the chef. Crispy fried Tofu with Salt & Pepper @ RM 16

Private Kitchen (26)

The chef have made the toufu so delicately soft that nearly melts on your tongue  with crispy base outside with light after taste of pepper and the bite of it taste as soft as taufufa. Is the chef special mixture to make it outstanding. If you have beer on your side, this would be the best option!

Private Kitchen (27)

another dish that was gone within seconds as the aroma of the spicy garlic trail on our nose that make it so tempting. Private Kitchen Typhoon Shelter Prawns with Chili & Garlic @ seasonal price. Huge succulent prawn being deep fried along with chili and garlic make this dish simple and nice.

Private Kitchen (28)

Any vegetable with pork, I am up for it. Private Kitchen Sautéed Chinese Chives with Dried Shrimp and Shredded Dried Cuttlefish @ RM18 is a well balance vegetable that comes with me, and the best part is the small little salted fish is crispy and the saltiness that bite after it with the vegie and pork.. ooo so hard to resit!

Private Kitchen (29)

End with this healthy herbal jelly. Not many people will like it but its something unique to end off with. I am okay with it and I believe my parents would love it.

I must say, this is one of the most impressive Hong Kong Restaurant that I have come accross and you do not know where to dine, this is one of a highly recommended restaurant in my list for Hong Kong Cuisine.

I have read a lot about this place not until recently we all came by and throng this place with Andrew’s parents as they are in town for the weekend. It is very hard to wake up early Sunday morning but haven’t been to this place, have to drag myself up. For being first time around this area, I must warn all of you that park nearby the kopitiam as I nearly got rob off my necklace gold chain around 9.30am. I was glad that they people sitting at the lorong at the mamak stall saw what was coming and I was lucky to escape unhurt. SO just be carefull around this area. Yut Kee

Yut Kee is a very old classic Hainanese kopitiam joint that served Hainanese Malaysian style Western Food that operate in the modern town area for very long time since started at 1928 and now which is taken care by the son that we can see mostly he is standing at the counter. The business is very good as you need to be there very early to get seats or waiting time can spill up to 30 minutes wait for a table. This coffee shop serving local specialties with one of their signature is Roti Babi which is not to be miss.

yut kee (1)

yut kee (2)

As the kopitiam atmosphere can still be seen with its a bit run down paint on the wall filled with marble table and wooden chairs.

yut kee (3)

Even hanging pictures on the wall reminds me of the kopitiam that I always go with my grandfather nearby his shop when I was a kid.

yut kee (4)

One of the very refreshing drinks that we really enjoy in early morning is ‘Sour Plum with Asam Drink‘. After taking a sip, we are instantly awake by its strong sourness and it is indeed refreshing.

yut kee (5)

Classic drink is Kopi, Kopi o’ Ice and Teh Ice.

yut kee (6)

The food came pretty fast as one shot they served all the food and filled up our table quite instantly.

yut kee (7)

Starting off a simple breakfast with toast bread with homemade Kaya and butter.

yut kee (8)

off course not to miss is with half boil egg to dip along with my bread.

yut kee (9)

Then Ken mention that one of the dish must order is their ‘Pork Chop’ shower with its gravy brown sauce, thin onion slices, potato and mix vegetable. The pork meat fried till brownish outside and the meat is soft, with its gravy just goes along very well, no wonder Ken mention that a must order dish.

yut kee (10)

One of their Classic signature item ‘Roti Babi’

yut kee (11)

Cut it into half you will see bread fried like along a layer of egg till a bit fluffy, stuff with pork, onion and carrot. Then you pour some Lee and Perrins sauce to bring up the taste. I guess this version and the one that I always had in Penang differ pretty much and I would say I still love Penang Style Roti Babi which is in mince meat form and fried till golden brown and served squarish.

yut kee (13)

Another crowd’s favourite is ‘Yut Kee Roasted Pork Roll’ . They do sell in slices or one whole loaf of it if I am not mistaken one whole loaf is seling for around RM140. Yet I do see many people ta pau back.

yut kee (12)

That is served pippin hot from the oven daily after 11am or 11.30am. When this roll are taken out, the smell of the wonderful crips aroma filled the whole coffee shop as like a super star just walk pass by. First time customer like me, would run out an see what is it about, as it happen the same to other new customer. Next is that we enquire what was it. . .

When this lady cut thru the pork, quite loud crack can be heard to show how crispy it is and its stuff with some herbs to make it aromatic which is only available from Friday – Sunday

yut kee (14)

yut kee (15)

For a try, we order a plate to try on it and it doesnt come cheap. 2 slices for RM15 that served with their homemade apple sauce. The skin were really crispy and the pork meat is juicy and tender inside, not bad for a taste if you are willing to pay for the price for just 2 piece as Andrew mention that last time he came it was only 2 slices for RM10.

Well, I guess we are starting to feel the pain of eating outside since nowdays so many things increase silently. Not bad kopitiam to hunt for breakfast and also I do noted that they do offer quite alot of fried meals that during weekdays it is very popular among the office crowd.

Our breakfast meal price ranges in between RM2-RM15.

It KL it is not easy to find nice and cheap food, especially those neighbourhood cafe which is now quite a trend but one cafe is quite well known in the neighbourhood is Ting’s Cafe which is located in SS2 that I find the food is nice and cheap or I would say worth recommending, a cafe that serve a mixture of Hainanese, Western and some Penang Hakwer Food Selection.

Tings Cafe

For smokers zone

 Tings Cafe (3)

and of course we prefer some where cold and let the smokers walk out to smoke.

I guess recently that I notice, a lot of Non-Halal restaurant start mushrooming especially in serving pork burger. Therefore for all the pork lovers out there, you surely would not want to miss this, one of the latest crave that we got introduce is Betty’s Midwest Kitchen which is located in the heart of Aman Suria. We got here directly after a photo shoot outing at Recreation Park at TTDI.

Midwest kitchen served homey cook food by serving pork ribs, chicken sandwich, classical burgers which are simple yet delicious.

Midwest Kitchen (2)

I just love how they decorate the restaurant with very American and porky feel, with a piggy cartoon pictures on the wall

Thomas Kamper Root Beer @RM5.50 per bottle

We were very hot and sweaty from the outing in the morning and craving for coke to cool down, then the waitress introduce us the root beer, without hesitation I just order because never heard of the brand before and the waitress said it is good.

Surprisingly I love the taste of it, its quite gassy and very refreshing that suits my current condition on that time. It taste like sarsi cross over with coke to get that kind of flavor, I ended up order another bottle.

Midwest Kitchen (16)

House Salad @RM8

For girls plan to go on diet, they healthy range would be their homemade salad top with fresh crisp apple tumble with home dressing.

Midwest Kitchen (17)

Pulled Pork Burger @RM12 – burger with the slow roasted and shredded pork and braised in special sauce

One of their porky burger range is serve with finely chopped pork in their home made sauce end with chunks of onions slip in between 2 slices of fine toast burger bread. The taste is awesome, not very salty as I love mine with add in mustard.

Midwest Kitchen (19)

“Dog Food” Gravy Fries @ RM7.50

When Ken mention this is a must have food, I said lets go for it and when he tell me the name of the food I curse him and when I look at the menu, seriously the name is Dog food. This is by far one of the best dish that I come across, that soak in sea of homemade sauce bake with a slice of cheeze. I kept eating till Ken said, Oi.. please leave some mercy, don finish it by yourself. – Recommended!

Midwest Kitchen (21)

Classical Meatloaf @RM15 – The meatloaf was made out of mince meat and vegetable

If you are looking at something off the menu that we do not get to dine in any other restaurant, then this would be one of the choice. Finely prepared and the catch is with the additional beer sauce that is given and must pour in it to get the flavour up, another recommended dish~

Midwest Kitchen (22)

Grilled Soft Ribs @RM25.50

Season well with sauces and grill till the meat is soft on the meat that one bite pull, the whole chunk of meat come off together.

Midwest Kitchen (23)

Hog Wild @ RM33 – A combination of the virginia ham steak, brats and bacon with mash potatoes, coleslaw in special sauce.

On that day, we were lucky as fathers day was last week and they have this special dish up just for two days, which is usually only available during Christmas. The trick is they do not always get very nice ingredient and its not cheap according to the lady boss therefore she recommend us to try it out.

With her recommendation, it never fail to impress us with the strong taste of ham steak that one bite, the flavor burst into whole mouth and its soft, chewy and thin layer of fats in between just melt in the tongue. If a beer was served on that day, could not be even more perfect.

Now, you guys have to wait till Christmas season to enjoy this special dish.

Midwest Kitchen (24)

Pan Fried Pork Chop with Country Gravy @ RM20

Grill the pork is soft, juicy and tender shower by homemade sauce with some black paper and I just love their mash potato.

Midwest Kitchen (25)

Forgot what is the name of this.

1

At the end of the meal, we were all very full, satisfy and feel so lazy to drive back. This shop of course is a Non-Halal Restaurant but surely I will be back for more for its price, quality and ambience.

Surely its a recommended restaurant by me~
