Do come here early as his Penang hokkien mee solds out before 1.30pm as it really depends on your luck on the amount of crowd on that day.

There are other food stalls for you to try it out too. As been here couple of times for their food and turns out to be not too bad.

Johnny Hokkien MEe (6)

Fried chicken smells good but have yet try before.

Johnny Hokkien MEe (7)

The colour seems legit and smells good.

Full House Cafe in Taman Subang Murni is quite comfy and clean. The owner pack nearly every wall with fan.

Johnny Hokkien MEe (12)

Here you go on Johnny Famous Prawn Noodle in Subang. Been here couple of times as the ingredient put along in it is very inconstant. Believe is due to the stock of the day. Sometimes you got shell prawns, sometimes you got other prawns. So this is just for reference purpose.

Johnny Hokkien MEe (11)

Soup is quite solid, thick and pack with flavour. I do love my prawn noodle with 1 full spoonful of chilli to enhance the spiciness and flavour of it. Quite generaous for a prawn noodle stall to give you 2 big prawns and it is only RM 8 per bowl.

Noodle texture he is quite different as the yellow thick noodle is slightly more chewy in texture that give you a nice chewing bite that is near to al dante spaghetti. Loving it.

Johnny Hokkien MEe (9)

He is also well know for his Koey Teow soup. Available in Duck meat or Chicken meat. The soup base is pack with flavour too and wont be disappointing for your appetite in breakfast or lunch. Quite generous in ingredient too. Ranging from RM 7 onwards.

The new comer is Chicken Rice stall, turns out to be above expectation. Gravy is on point, rice do have the chicken stock flavour and roast pork is worth to order. Not the best but the better ones.

Johnny Hokkien MEe (18)

Bak Kut teh turns out to be good too. Taste of the soup is not too strong with herbs taste which many will like it and gives you the slight dry orangy skin and mild herb aftertaste. @ RM 12 (ala carte)

Johnny Hokkien MEe (19)

Char Koey Teow smells good upon frying, but it is just below average. Lack of wok hei as it needed and if the owner can fry it slightly longer then would be perfect.

Penang folks in KL, there is one good news to share as the Famous Penang 888 Hokkien Mee had open their first outlet outside Penang. This stall is rated as one of the top three best Penang Prawn Noodle or Penang Hokkien mee had opened its door at Kota Damansar, Pj. It was a random stumble when I was heading to my usual Chilli Pan Mee place and they just operate just about 2 weeks.

[Update 28.2.2018: realize that the shop no longer operating after i went the third round today – after operating just less than 3 months – SAD]

As manage to speak to the owner, as this is a collaboration of the original 888 hokkien mee son and his best friend to open up this shop and it is run with the original recipe from Penang.

888 hokkien mee (2)

Menu is pretty straight forward.

888 hokkien mee (3)

If you are here during lunch time, it is pretty pack for first 2 weeks in operation.

888 hokkien mee (4)

The smell and the look is certainly on par with Penang standard where I felt that the broth is lacking its sweetness compare to the original in Penang. Loh Mee soup is on point where it is thick enough and it will be my next aim to order both.

888 hokkien mee (5)

Since they are rather new, I tried their Prawn Mee with Siew Yuk and siew yuk is not bad.

For yin yeong or mix soup, I added on their garlic base gravy to enhance the soup taste, just to my liking

Loh Mee is not bad. Quite on point to the one in Penang. Soup base is thick enough and pork slices are just nice.

888 hokkien mee (10)

After that the owner ask about feedback and manage to find out that why the broth is lacking because the broth boiling process started late whereby 8 am and open for business at 11.30am, as compare to Penang they boil the soup from 9am and start business at 5pm hence the thickness of the soup base is there. The owner advise to swing by from 3pm onwards to enjoy the best taste of the soup.

Will definately drop by again after 3pm to enjoy my pippin hot bowl of Penang Hokkien Mee in KL. Best of all, it is easy to find parking during weekdays as you just park inside Sunway Nexis basement carpark and just walk out, as the parking is free for first 2 hours.

Finally, I have found one of a authentic Penang Prawn Noodle or Penang term known as Hokkien Mee (which is totally different from KL version). This new shop Prawn Noodle King at OUG that just operated about 2 weeks is now serving one of a very authentic Penang Famous Mantis Prawn Hokkien Noodle at Macalister Road. The owner have retired from the hawker center and one of a regular KL folks that love it so much bought the recipe over and now continuing the recipe in KL.

Penang Famous Prawn Noodle (4)

In this shop, they only focus on the most authentic serving of Prawn Noodle. There is no menu yet at the moment however these are the classics from the original owner:

Penang Famous Prawn Noodle (5)

It is hard to find such a great chilli that they cook from strech with careful selected chili ingredient and cook over long hours. It is so fragrant that two spoonful of this, make the prawn soup broth more flavourful and spicier.

Penang Famous Prawn Noodle (6)

If I get to choose mine, I would always go for add Roast Pork + Pork Ribs  + small shrimps. @ RM 17.90

Penang Famous Prawn Noodle (7)

Love the clear soup base that filled with prawn head taste and sweetness of the broth is pack with flavours from bone and shrimp. After taste of it do give you a nice lingering sweetness that stay afloud in your palate.

Some of you might not like it as it is filled with sweet ending, however this is one of a classic recipe that we Penangnites love.
