Jacksons Burger @ Section 14, PJ

Burger joints are popping out every where, and its a trend. Well, lets go something classic in street style that I recently I was introduce a homemade street burger patty that run by Chinese couple. I have read Jacksons Burger is homemade by the uncle himself quite a while back and only remember bout it when Ken bring me over to dine at this stall.

Its not too hard to find them as I have read some blog that they always move around. Well, I have been here a few times and its still in the same location. Their burger price is definately cheap.

They do not have a proper dining in around the premises as they run the burger stall in a little truck and we can take their plastic chairs to sit there and dine. They sell soft drinks too.

What is interesting is that they do have their special homemade CRAB patty that Ken ask me to try. Of course I do a mix then, beef and crab.

Of course my burger need to have added egg and cheese. If not it would not be a perfect one for me.

Then my burger is ready, it smells very good with the fluffy bread being well pan fried that I can even smell the majerine of it.

Smack in betteen the bread and all the ingredients, here comes the Chinese version of burger that is pretty similiar to another famous stall in Penang, Hill Side. The patty are grill to little cruncy for my Crab patty and beef are just perfect. For afternoon lunch, its a good satisfying one. For Chinese to come out such burger, they are consider good. Surely cannot be compare with Ramlee burger as its slightly different style

Famous Mille Crepes Nadeje @ 3 Two Square, PJ

I believe many of you that head to Melacca/ Melaka will stop by at this famous mille crepe that is always pack with people (click here). Well, good news for many of us that now the famous cafe had expended its wings to KL and being their first branch, Nadeje now is open at 3 Two Square, PJ which is nearby Jaya 33.

In the premises itself, the cafe is located inside one of the lot and if you are coming in thru Toyota Entrance, that would be the most ideal entrance to hunt for this cafe.

I have heard some of my friends that they have to queue for quite a while and as long as 30-45 minutes for their cakes. I guess luck is on our side when we reach its only 2 person away and within 3  minutes we gotten our cakes. Its a weekday lunch. 🙂

concept of their cafe in KL is totally different compare to their main Branch in Melaka. Its more contemporary design and seating are pretty limited with only 4-5 tables in door and another 3-5 more outdoor.

In this cafe mostly are cakes and coffee are available, more like a tea time hunting ground or craving for dessert then this would be one of the option.

Not only that, as this round I notice that they have doughnut added into their range and as usual, there are many choices of crepes to hunt for.

This is my crepes for taking away as usual I prefer their Original.

Well, people, now you need not drive all the way to Melaka to hunt for your favorite dessert shop as now they are open in this area for less than 10 days.

Every year, some of my friend are looking forward for their prosperity set from McDonalds . This special limited edition burger had gain its popularity since 1994 and capture some of its loyal fans throughout the years. This limited edition burger is also only available in Malaysia back in those days and not only that, it has been so successful that countries like Singapore and Hong Kong have followed suit, serving the McDonald’s Prosperity Burger in its restaurants to a growing number of fans around the region.

The McDonald’s Prosperity Burger consists of meat patty made with 100% beef. Dipped in a signature black pepper sauce layered with crunchy slivered onions and tucked in warm sesame bread, all it takes is a single bite to discover the great taste of the McDonald’s Prosperity Burger. BarCode @ Jaya One, PJ

A new outlet had surface in Jaya One recently with more like a bar heading towards the night, as I often walk thru their premises daily till I come across they do sell Set Lunch and decided to give it a try . .Many of us are unaware of this location as this outlet as BarCode is located directly above Starbucks as there is a small door inbetween Starbucks and Ducking to lead up to this outlet.

This place would be quite a nice place for after work as they played R&B music or hits top 40’s and over the weekend the crowd is not bad.

One of the set back for lunch on this place is you have to sit on the bar table, as the staff are very accomodative, they can shift outside table to inside upon request as it would be great for many customers.

Bangers and Mash as the mash potato is super good, soft and nice yet I do not mind to have the whole mash myself.

The star among the choices are this Lamb Chop, well marinated, and the sauce pair very well with the marination and there is abit of lamb taste as I prefer it to be. – Recommended!

Chicken Parmigiana fried along with bread crumbs and cheeze on top.

Another dish that I often order is this Spaghetti that prepared well with a bit sourish tomato, cheeze sprinkle and very generous with the amount of sausages given.

Their set lunch are very reasonable with the huge portion they are serving as its available from RM11.90-RM18.90 that comes along with a glass of Ice – Lemon Tea.

The Library @ Straits Quay, Penang

Straits Quay seems to be bustling with alot of F&B coming in with the latest addition that create a wave to many youngster in Penang to hang out and chill is Library that had finally hit the shores in Penang. Ahem! it is not the Library that we go during school time, it is the Library that most young adults prefer to go as this Library had a style of its own that create a similiar ambiance with book shelf and books and they make it with bar, lifeband and of course alcohol to flow within the premises.

This outlet is no stranger to many of KL people as where they had started quite some time ago.

most of the time the place is pretty filled up with its ambiance which is unique to the whole area. What my friend told me that some of the outlet got affected but still, we are pampered with a few choices to sit down and hang out with friends.

This is what I mean fun filled and packed! That many prefer to sit outdoor its beause with sea breeze and if there izint wind there, its pretty humid and by drinking beer you will start to sweat.

One of the reason that I would only visit Library is during their Happy Hour Promotion . During their normal hours I find that their rate on beers is slightly higher than other outlets.

They provide pretty good range of beer choices during Happy Hourz.

Of course I have the opportunity and would grab the happy hour promo and sip my lovely Hoegaarden Beer Draft which is a beer generic that can drink buy both sexes.

Famous Homecook food at Tek Sen Restaurant (徳成飯店) @ Carnavon Street, Penang

In heritage trail Penang, there are many hidden gems with many nice cafes and restaurant. There are one especially are quite well known or no stranger to many locals, even this humble restaurant had manage to attract many local and foreign tourist to flock in. Tek Sen Restaurant 徳成飯店 that had been establish since 45 years ago and now had past to its 2nd generation and its growing, that quality and taste is still well maintain and consistent.

update Dec 2022: Teksen Restaurant Receive an award as now a Michelin Bib Gourmand outlet.

This restaurant had move to its new premises to provide more comfy experience in classic dining, that tuck in one of busy area, Carnavon Street.

Tek Sen Restaurant offer delicious Chinese cuisine, featuring a mix wide range of authentic Cantonese, Teowchew, Hakka and Peranakan delights with many years of experience by recipe passing down and improve.

On its new premises offer bigger and more comfort dining experience for customer yet the whole interior still have a touch of old Tek Sen restaurant that used to operate few doors away.

Start off with Fish Maw Soup @ RM 20 a bland mixture of many ingredient that during CNY this is one of the soup that many people ordered. Clear in taste that makes it a perfect soup to start off with.

Every restaurant has its signature item and in Tek Sen, this Fried Roast Pork is one of their best seller that many customers will have to order if they dine here. Fried till a bit crips on the head, a bit spicy with chili padi, caramelize coated on the meat and usually we had 2 plates of this. RM 28 – highly recommended~

This big juicy prawns is Asam Prawns.  The flavor of tamarind is there, well coated along the prawns that every bite of the prawn is juicy yet the flavor is well balance.  RM 49

Not many people like this dish, Bitter gourd fried along with salty duck egg and mince meat, as the bitterness of it had prevent many people on liking it including me, I used to dislike this dish yet I have been tought on how to enjoy it. Since then, I do order it when I have the change. A dish that fried simple that bitterness of the vegetable is not too strong and mix well with the taste of salty duck egg.@ RM 12

Another one of their signature range is their curry. So we ordered on their Curry Fish (sting Ray) @ RM 23, As I like how my Asam fish is sourness is stronger and after taste of it is a bit spicy at the end. Curry gravy is not too thick and to mix with your rice to eat along is just perfect~ – Recommended

One of my friend always dine here and he never miss this dish which is 3 steam egg. Different types of egg which is (century, duck and normal egg) to steam on it. A dish which is very simple, fragrant as just add on some garlic oil on top then add on some soy sauce, you will enjoy this simple dish alot~ @ RM 6

At Tek Sen, which is a restaurant that many of my friends love to dine and no doubt too that they have gain international popularity from a few types of magazine came by to feature them. A place to hunt if you are looking for nice homecook meal without disappointing.

On the set back about this place is there are very limited parking space available around the area and no matter during lunch or dinner its always super pack! It is advise to go early to enjoy full range of their food list as the later you went, there will be some dish sold out.
