While we were on the way back from our great exploration of a homestay that is located in Orchard Heights at Karak (click here), we were introduce by Major Ng there is a restaurant that we need to hunt on the way back we need to stop by Bentong right before into Genting tunnel if you coming from Karak, as to disappointment that restaurant, closed for private function. As for second alternative that we got introduce is Restaurant 126 along the stretch.

126 (1)

Its a simple Chinese restaurant with plastic chairs and wooden round table.

126 (2)

This is their signature dish, Pork Noodle @ RM 25 – as the pork slice being deep fried to perfection as every bite is filled with cracking sound if the pork doesnt soak too long in the dark sauce. Can taste that the yee mee noodle is more like a homemade version, springy and we ordered another plate of this with a comment “wah lau, can finish meh” ended up finish also. Highly Recommneded~

126 (3)

With Something soupy, we  were introduce with mee hoon with fresh ginger chicken. The soup definately taste ginger spicy as they cook along with lots of ginger, and its very nice. Next round I would order less mee hoon more soup.

126 (4)

Kai Lan with Garlic slice.

126 (5)

126 (6)

Order Fish slice, with mushroom and vegetable.

126 (7)

Wild Boar Pork Curry is another dish that we are enjoying with light spicy and pork being slice thin and cook to perfection.

126 (8)

Second in our top list for the lunch is this Marmite Pai Kuat, well caramelize with sauce and its satisfying. Recommended.

126 (9)

Who can read the bill please help me translate too. It comes with a total with this for 8 pax. Still cheap.

If you wanna make a turn before Genting, you sureby can stop at this area if you coming from KL, as this row of shop house is located right after Genting Tunnel and you have to drive another 15 mins down hill to find the next U turn. It would be another great pit stop for food. Recommended!

Bar above hotels or know as Sky Bar are a boom in Bangkok as there are tons of it. In Malaysia, one of the bar that I have first visited when its available is Luna Bar that sitted on top of Pan Pacific Hotel. Being first time here back many many years ago, I was like so excited. Till date its still one of my favourite hang out spot.

Luna Bar (1)

Taking evalator up to 35th floor and upon arrival you will be greeted by friendly staff. If its on weekend you will need to pay cover charge which is about RM50 if I am not mistaken. We were here on Sunday, therefore its free entry. Just walk up the staircase then you . . .

Luna Bar (2)

reach Luna Bar. Its a modern chic bar and been quite a while since I last drop by. Slight renovation had took place that now DJ deck looks so cool on top left. A pool that well light up, and staging right in the middle for some private function or special events.

Luna Bar (3)

Bar design still remain the same and the sad part is my favourite indoor space had now turn into a restaurant.

Luna Bar (4)

Luna Bar (5)

This is one perfect place to hang out with your love ones especially sitting at the side deck here with comfy cussion, sipping your wine or cocktail and chat throughout the night is just perfect.

Luna Bar (8)

Then you will be overlooking the colourfull lighting of KL view on one of the side. These sitting are available in both wing, depends where you would prefer.

Luna Bar (6)

This is one of a bar that overlook both towers of KL, one which is KL tower and the other side is Twin Tower but you cant look at both at the same time.

I have know this mall Maju Junction, and never step foot into this mall before. Last round nearly ended here for a review on Pizza and last minute I have to work then I have to skip. This round, we are here to hunt for dim sum. I was a bit skeptical when Chris told me Restaurant Oriental Maju Palace  a pork free restaurant. Mostly for dim sum, in my mind pork is needed as I have tried a few pork free or Halal dim sum, the taste is just not there.

Maju Palace(1)

Here we are on Sunday morning parking at the basement was a wrong decision, as we had trouble finding the restaurant. Really surprise to see the restaurant actually hidden whereby Restaurant Oriental Maju Palace actually operate on the top floor of a car park space inside Maju Junction Mall, you can just drive up the multi story carpark and park right at the front.

Maju Palace(3)

Yet after walking into the restaurant, I did not know its actually quite a huge restaurant as they do offer wedding banquet here too. Not only that as time pass by, more and more customers flocking in.

Maju Palace(5)

Then I walk around the restaurant and found this nicely decorated section that got me curious and walk further in.

Maju Palace(6)

Its actually a section filled with a few rooms cater for private function. This room i huge that can easily host a small enterprise function or family gathering.

Maju Palace(7)

If you find that sitting outside that is lack of privacy then you can opt to reserve a table in this private room

Maju Palace(8)

As I walk to this counter and I am impress. All the selection you get to see on the display counter are real cook food. Food at this corner are made to order and cook fresh for you. Just pick your selection.

Maju Palace(9)

You will be pamper from the selection itself.

Maju Palace(10)

Can see that the ingredients that they use are premium and fresh.

Maju Palace(11)

Maju Palace(12)

Maju Palace(13)

Maju Palace(14)

Maju Palace(15)

Not only that, as what you seen at the counter the food have not included into the menu yet.

Maju Palace(16)

Then it is seriously a huge menu.

Maju Palace(17)

These are the 3 sauces not to be miss especially the chili oil. The chef purposely made these 3 sauce to pair with their dim sum and fried noodle as knowing our local culture we need some sauces to go after.

Maju Palace(18)

The usual, we will kick start off with lighter food then follow by heavy weight.

Maju Palace(19)

Chicken pie not to be miss. . .

Maju Palace(20)

Pan fried radish cake

Maju Palace(23)

Maju Palace(24)

Har Kau here sure looks huge as when it was serve some of us were like woahh, what a huge prawn in it and its a fresh prawn not frozen prawn.

Maju Palace(25)

Pork free bun – char Siew Bun that surprise me how good it taste like without pork and taste the same as those with pork. Bun are just so soft.

Maju Palace(26)

Huge Big Pau that can easily feed for 2 pax.

Maju Palace(27)

Comes to steam selection . .

Maju Palace(28)

Poached River Carp Medallions

Maju Palace(29)

This is what happen when every one is busy taking pictures when our table is filled with lots of food that spread over to next table. We have 10 pax but eat like 20 pax.

Maju Palace(30)

Deep-fried Codfish Rolls

Maju Palace(31)

Maju Palace(32)

Maju Palace(33)

Maju Palace(34)

Maju Palace(35)

What attracted me to order this is Double Boiled Superior Soup with Beef and Enoki Mushrooms. Rarely come accross that enoki mushroom is double boil. Not to be miss.

Maju Palace(36)

Braised Noodles Village-style

Maju Palace(37)

Fried Radish cake

Maju Palace(38)

One of a unique item is water chesnut cakes

Maju Palace(40)

Their porridge range is superb cook till its soft and silky smooth that is very similiar to Hong Kong Dim sum that I had when I was travelling.

Maju Palace(41)

Crab porridge taste simple, sweet and good. I add in a lil soy sauce and its perfect.

Maju Palace(42)

Other types of noodles also available

Maju Palace(39)

Comes to the last section which is desert. I will never miss desert during dim sum with its huge selection. Aloe Vera Tarts

Maju Palace(43)

Lemon Grass Jelly

Maju Palace(44)

My fav that I will definately order is Lui Sar Pau – steamed custard buns has the hot golden lava-like salted egg custard oozing out by gentle pealing the bun. Please do not eat it by one bite as the filling in it is extremely hot that will burn your tongue easily.

Maju Palace(47)

Ginger soup, sesame glutinous rice ball.

Maju Palace(48)

This is another unique item not to be miss. . .Steamed egg with Bird Nest. Light in taste, slightly sweet at the end and a perfect way to end my tim sum. After all the heavy dim summ, I am seriously stuff with food and even skip dinner on that day.

I never thought that the dim sum here is amazing that is really hidden in the carpark. As it was full house and their normal weekend crowd is pretty good. Filled with families.

There is no doubt now that I can even recommend my malay friends where to have nice dim sum already as they often ask me where got hunt for nice one. If you are asking me, definitely this restaurant is one of a recommended restaurant for dim sum!

I have heard a lot about this restaurant about their food quality and the best part is food from Taiwan. I just do not know why when mention about food from there, I would like woaahhhh, its like when people mention about Penang = Food. The term for me is Taiwan = Food as this would be my very first visit to this restaurant, Din Tai Fung.

This is their newly renovated and just open its door to public just before Chinese New Year with having another outlet they have is at Mid Valley, which I had walk pass a lot of times and its always full. To my surprise, this restaurant was ranked as one of the top 10 restaurant in 1993 by The New York Times. Not only their outlet in Malaysia, as their franchise spread over to Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States.

Din Tai Fung

All the chef are busy preparing the Xiau Long Bao’s in the open concept kitchen.

Din Tai Fung (2)

With all the ingredients are prepared and measure correctly to ensure their food quality is there. What I was inform that, they do have daily QC check by their master chef as to ensure that their taste is the same and fresh ingredient are used to get the satisfaction out of it.

Din Tai Fung (3)

Din Tai Fung (4)

The new outlet interior design which is another total new concept that very different from the branch at Mid Valley as that branch with more of its crowd are family and the new branch decorated with modern classic style on the front section and the back section is all about back to the past with contemporary interior. . .

Din Tai Fung (6)

Din Tai Fung (5)

Besides that, they do have VIP sections or area to cater private function and only this 2rooms had the perfect view directly to KLCC and special menu can be cater upon request or budget.

Din Tai Fung (7)

Din Tai Fung (8)

Our setting and menu for the day and being greeted by the very warm and friendly host cum onwer Meng Lim.

Din Tai Fung (9)

Din Tai Fung (10)

Start off the meal with their cold appetizer.

Din Tai Fung (11)

Din Tai Fung (12)

This arrangement of tower is the ‘Japanese Cucumber’ had been season a bit and its very crunchy covers in a very very mild taste on your tongue. RM3.80

Din Tai Fung (13)

‘Taiwan Century Egg’ as the texture of it is different, softer and the egg base is very nice in taste eat it with ginger is the perfect way to start off with. RM3.80

Din Tai Fung (14)

‘Spicy Jellyfish’ is served cold and I love the texture of it which is chewy and covered with the taste like mild thai sauce yet it’s a bit sour, definitely appetite opener. RM6.80

Din Tai Fung (15)

It’s the same like Hong Kong or China food that they do have ‘Chili Oil’ as to accompany some of the dish to pull up the flavor of it.

Din Tai Fung (19)

In Din Dai Fung, all QC and staff training is regard as priority to ensure customer satisfaction, as the focus a lot on staff culture and ethics had been professionally trained as this girl is send by the Taiwan HQ to trained on all the new staff and making sure that everything is in order, as this is to ensure that their brand name served with tip top condition and all the branch you go around the region is the same.

Din Tai Fung (16)

‘Crab Meat & Pork Xiao Long Bao’ served next as it was perfectly steam and the soup in it is hot filled with the juices from the steam that ooze from the pork in it. Very sweet in taste yet a bit salty that stuff in some ginger with vinegar, it tastes perfect. RM12.80(6 pcs)/ RM23.80 (12 pcs)

Din Tai Fung (17)

This is the way how to pick up a Xiao Long Bau with the tip of it so that you wont damage the delicate yet soft skin on the side as you can drink on the soup too.

Din Tai Fung (18)

‘Shrimp and Pork Dumpling’ is huge and stuff with compact ingredient. RM12.80(6 pcs)/ RM23.80 (12 pcs)

Din Tai Fung (20)

This soup get me all excited as it smells so good. When the cover was open up I was like haaa…?? So simple yet so aromatic, ‘House Special Chicken Soup’ had been steam in high temperature for 4 hours using Kampung Chicken with a proper arrangement of the meat in the bowl to enhance the maximum taste of it and cook with some simple Chinese herbs. It is something very simple yet the taste is top notch, and burning hot with the way just as I preferred. RM13

Din Tai Fung (21)

The chicken had been boiled till very soft and dip it with simple soy sauce. It taste good.

Din Tai Fung (22)

I am a big fan of ‘Hot and Sour Soup’ as no matter I spotted this, I would order, just a big fan of this soup. In Din Tai Fung, the soup is RM7.50 for small and RM11 for big. Its mild in taste as it suits people who do not like strong taste yet can get to enjoy hot (which is not too spicy) yet the sour is vinegar side yet the texture of it is just nice, not too starchy.

Din Tai Fung (23)

‘Cha Jiang La Mien’ is done very nice with serving for a simple dish that top with mince pork, taufu and peas as some soy and chili oil added in.

Din Tai Fung (24)

The trick to eat this noodle is to add on some vinegar instead of chili oil as it totally taste different and much better. RM12

Din Tai Fung (25)

‘Pork Chop Fried Rice’ as the fried rice is simple but fried with wok hei and the egg taste is soft and blended well with the rice, with the perfect deep fried pork chop eat with chili oil is excellent. RM14.50

Din Tai Fung (26)

‘Baby Green Beans with Mince Pork’ as if you eat it randomly like that, it would taste abit salty but a perfect companion for rice. RM16

Din Tai Fung (27)

Even though we are full, there are always room for deserts as to me, I find this desert quite special as its in the form of Xiau Long Bau, as the back basket is ‘Mini Sesame Buns’ RM5.50 and ‘Red Bean Dumpling’ RM7 (6pcs) / RM12.80 (12 pcs).

It was a great lunch and informative too from the great host Meng Lim and invites from Sidney. Of course, I will be returning to try out their other dish.
