I guess Speakeasy bar is the official trend at the moment. There are a few impressive one and of course there are some that stood out more. Let me introduce you Private Room which will be first of its kind Wine Speakeasy Bar that will be pampering you with a pretty huge range of wine at affordable price.

Private room (1)

It is a bit tricky to look for this place as it is always a little hidden door that would not make sense to you, where will lead you to the secret hideout. As for this, I was walking along Bowery and only realise that there is a hot chick walking to the yellow metal door next to it then only hit my mind, that must be the secret hideout.

Private room (2)

As you walked up to level one, there is a secret password you need to key in and upon entering,  you will need to walk thru two huge curtain to come into this elegant wine place. Fit with luxury leather sofa, racks of wine selection on your left and pretty cool wine and cocktail bar on your right.

We had wine tasting for that launching night and kick start off with French wine – Drechler 2013 and I must say this is one of the best easy to drink white wine. Very unique in taste with sweet end, and girls would love it, we find out that for a bottle of French wine at around RM160 is a pretty good deal .

Private room (8)

Private room (9)

Justin Ho is their head mixologist whom is the champion of Malaysia best  Sommelier 2015 is our main wine guide tasting for the night.

Private room (10)

Follow by a few other red wine.

Private room (14)

This is the best of all, where is the signature of this outlet where if you think cocktail is too mainstream, then try out their signature Wine infuse cocktail drink.

Private room (17)

Indeed it is a very dangerous drink where it is so smooth, hint of sweetness and well balance of alcohol taste with other mixer is easier to knock you off after a few drink. A highly recommended drink if you do head to this place.

Private room (16)

My personal favourite would be the French wine which is the first bottle in this blog post and also not to miss out their wine cocktail.

Private room (15)

Please meet both our local talents: Danny Tai – second runner up best Malaysia Champion also ex sommelier Marble 8 Restaurant and Justin Ho – sommelier champion 2015

Private room (20)

It is a cool hangout place especially if you love wine, and if you feel that you would like to learn more about wine, best advise to sit at the bar and let Danny guide and explain it to you through if the bar is not too busy.

I have know this mall Maju Junction, and never step foot into this mall before. Last round nearly ended here for a review on Pizza and last minute I have to work then I have to skip. This round, we are here to hunt for dim sum. I was a bit skeptical when Chris told me Restaurant Oriental Maju Palace  a pork free restaurant. Mostly for dim sum, in my mind pork is needed as I have tried a few pork free or Halal dim sum, the taste is just not there.

Maju Palace(1)

Here we are on Sunday morning parking at the basement was a wrong decision, as we had trouble finding the restaurant. Really surprise to see the restaurant actually hidden whereby Restaurant Oriental Maju Palace actually operate on the top floor of a car park space inside Maju Junction Mall, you can just drive up the multi story carpark and park right at the front.

Maju Palace(3)

Yet after walking into the restaurant, I did not know its actually quite a huge restaurant as they do offer wedding banquet here too. Not only that as time pass by, more and more customers flocking in.

Maju Palace(5)

Then I walk around the restaurant and found this nicely decorated section that got me curious and walk further in.

Maju Palace(6)

Its actually a section filled with a few rooms cater for private function. This room i huge that can easily host a small enterprise function or family gathering.

Maju Palace(7)

If you find that sitting outside that is lack of privacy then you can opt to reserve a table in this private room

Maju Palace(8)

As I walk to this counter and I am impress. All the selection you get to see on the display counter are real cook food. Food at this corner are made to order and cook fresh for you. Just pick your selection.

Maju Palace(9)

You will be pamper from the selection itself.

Maju Palace(10)

Can see that the ingredients that they use are premium and fresh.

Maju Palace(11)

Maju Palace(12)

Maju Palace(13)

Maju Palace(14)

Maju Palace(15)

Not only that, as what you seen at the counter the food have not included into the menu yet.

Maju Palace(16)

Then it is seriously a huge menu.

Maju Palace(17)

These are the 3 sauces not to be miss especially the chili oil. The chef purposely made these 3 sauce to pair with their dim sum and fried noodle as knowing our local culture we need some sauces to go after.

Maju Palace(18)

The usual, we will kick start off with lighter food then follow by heavy weight.

Maju Palace(19)

Chicken pie not to be miss. . .

Maju Palace(20)

Pan fried radish cake

Maju Palace(23)

Maju Palace(24)

Har Kau here sure looks huge as when it was serve some of us were like woahh, what a huge prawn in it and its a fresh prawn not frozen prawn.

Maju Palace(25)

Pork free bun – char Siew Bun that surprise me how good it taste like without pork and taste the same as those with pork. Bun are just so soft.

Maju Palace(26)

Huge Big Pau that can easily feed for 2 pax.

Maju Palace(27)

Comes to steam selection . .

Maju Palace(28)

Poached River Carp Medallions

Maju Palace(29)

This is what happen when every one is busy taking pictures when our table is filled with lots of food that spread over to next table. We have 10 pax but eat like 20 pax.

Maju Palace(30)

Deep-fried Codfish Rolls

Maju Palace(31)

Maju Palace(32)

Maju Palace(33)

Maju Palace(34)

Maju Palace(35)

What attracted me to order this is Double Boiled Superior Soup with Beef and Enoki Mushrooms. Rarely come accross that enoki mushroom is double boil. Not to be miss.

Maju Palace(36)

Braised Noodles Village-style

Maju Palace(37)

Fried Radish cake

Maju Palace(38)

One of a unique item is water chesnut cakes

Maju Palace(40)

Their porridge range is superb cook till its soft and silky smooth that is very similiar to Hong Kong Dim sum that I had when I was travelling.

Maju Palace(41)

Crab porridge taste simple, sweet and good. I add in a lil soy sauce and its perfect.

Maju Palace(42)

Other types of noodles also available

Maju Palace(39)

Comes to the last section which is desert. I will never miss desert during dim sum with its huge selection. Aloe Vera Tarts

Maju Palace(43)

Lemon Grass Jelly

Maju Palace(44)

My fav that I will definately order is Lui Sar Pau – steamed custard buns has the hot golden lava-like salted egg custard oozing out by gentle pealing the bun. Please do not eat it by one bite as the filling in it is extremely hot that will burn your tongue easily.

Maju Palace(47)

Ginger soup, sesame glutinous rice ball.

Maju Palace(48)

This is another unique item not to be miss. . .Steamed egg with Bird Nest. Light in taste, slightly sweet at the end and a perfect way to end my tim sum. After all the heavy dim summ, I am seriously stuff with food and even skip dinner on that day.

I never thought that the dim sum here is amazing that is really hidden in the carpark. As it was full house and their normal weekend crowd is pretty good. Filled with families.

There is no doubt now that I can even recommend my malay friends where to have nice dim sum already as they often ask me where got hunt for nice one. If you are asking me, definitely this restaurant is one of a recommended restaurant for dim sum!

One place that I do visit couple of times on my friends cafe in Subang Empire is Vanilla Place that located in front of Toys R Us, not till recently I got an invitation to sample a Chinese restaurant in Empire Subang Hotel, Di Wei. That make me scratch my head, that do a hotel actually exist in this shopping mall?

As I walk the whole building little did I recall there is any entrance to the hotel and only realize till the day when I attend this event. There is actually a hotel in the shopping mall which the entrance is on the top floor of the shopping mall that you need to take a stairs up to the lobby.

Empire (1)

Di Wei Chinese Restaurant is located on the shopping mall wing on the first floor. It is hard for you to miss it as the decoration is very Chinese contemporary look on the entrance of it.

This would be one of the Chinese Restaurant in the Hotel that serve NON-Halal food and you can expect nice pork to be serve as before I came here, my friend already told me they serve nice Dim Sum over the weekend at a very reasonable price.

Empire (2)

I am impress with the whole interior design that look so modern yet the touch of olden days is there. This would be the waiting area if its full house.

Empire (3)

This is what I mean with wooden floor panel and sliding classic door in between to create privacy for rooms

Empire (4)

or even a private room for you and your guest that they have wall of Chinese Emperor era materials display along to make the ambiance.

Empire (5)

They do have a full rack of wine to offer. .

Empire (6)

If you have bigger families or group you can walk towards the end and there will be a few tables in the room itself to seperate you and public guest.

Empire (7)

Empire (8)

Open Kitchen concept to prepare some fried food and steam dumpling area.

Empire (9)

Steamed Shrimp Dumpling

Empire (10)

Steam to soften on the skin which is thin layer that cover the whole inside filling, and a huge prawn was sighted not long after a small bite. Dip with soy sauce and chili make it perfect.

Empire (11)

Steamed Siew Mai always serve as there is nothing much to shout about, but it is always the feel and texture of it as I just love this alot!

Empire (12)

Stir-Fried Soft Shell Crab With Dried Chillies and Garlic,

Empire (13)

Deep-Fried Vietnamese Rock Melon Prawn Roll With Mint Sauce

Empire (14)

This is another unique dish that being carefully deep fried to crips that the crust of the standing tower, with each bite you can feel the crack inside your mouth and the special mint sauce is mild that perfect to go along with it and hint of sweet rock melon at the end just pairs well.

Empire (15)

Steamed Cod Fish With Spring Onions and Coriander Sauce Topped With Crispy Ginger

Empire (16)

Cod fish is very soft and one bite you can felt the slices cut inside your mouth and with the pot being serve, it kept the whole thing being warm and I just finish it within 2 bites. 😀

Empire (17)

Mongolian Style Braised Crispy Pork Ribs in BBQ Sauce

Empire (18)

Lemon Grass Jelly with Lemon Sorbet

Empire (19)

anything with lemon grass jelly top with sour sorbet I just love it. some of my friend don understand how I love sour stuff. Its chill and very refreshing after all the dish we had. Satisfying!

Empire (20)

The person who is behind all the food in the restaurant is Chef Chin

To many Penangnites, I am sure with the restaurant name like Tao Authentic Asian Cuisine that offer buffet range, that have 3 outlets spread accross 2 in Penang and 1 in Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara KL (click here) and now this restaurant chain have opened up another new concept which is rather interesting that located in Penang Times Square called Yea Japanese BBQ & Shabu Shabu Buffet.

One of the reason that visited this buffet was my dad saw some blogger post that circulate in email and he had been asking us to come for the past 2 months since it had open till now we decided to come along.

yea (1)

It is very interesting to see how the whole new concept that they have build to another brand with very Japanese exterior and interior. ..

yea (2)

yea (3)

You can be seated in a few sections, this is a private room that can host up to 10 pax and you have to remove your shoes and put outside.

yea (14)

yea (4)

this section would be their outdoor area. . .

yea (5)

as me and my family was quickly seated, I walk around the whole restaurant to check out what is there to offer.

yea (6)

The range of food that they offer is pretty interesting. One of the best is not to miss on their homemade, fish, sotong and pork ball. . .

yea (7)

Fresh Oyster, Salmon with huge piece, scallop are all in this fridge for you to finish. Another fridge with lots types of seafood, for you to choose from.

yea (12)

This would be the best section to me with variety of meat to offer. I have tried all the meat and those lamb, lean pork, pork bacon, korean style pork are the one you must look out for. . .

yea (13)

yea (8)

Soft drinks counter and you just need to request a glass with ice in it.

yea (9)

Desert counter.

yea (10)

Variety of sauces available as one of the reason that, you are going to mix and learn to cook on the  on with their grill charcoal stove on your table.

yea (11)

ice cream that alot of kids attack on.

yea (15)

We ask on the waiter what soup is good and he recommend that most customer would opt to try their signature soup which is the clear soup base ‘Shabu Shabu’ (昆布柴魚湯)

yea (16)

In your table you will be provided with this utilities for you to play with . .

yea (17)

My meat plate..wakkaka~ and more that I have had till my parents surrender. 😀

yea (18)

What is so unique about this whole new concept is that they have this charcoal grill stove smack right in the table for you to bbq your dish. Most of the meat or things available are already pre marinated and now you will look like a cool Japanese chef in training.

yea (19)

put all the item that you would want on this grill and just turn around as you want.

yea (20)

You can put your huge chunk of salmon, prawns and other seafood to cook along.

yea (21)

Huge scallop to be stim on ..

yea (22)

and this is what happen to our pot of shabu shabu, as my mom loves it.

yea (23)

Each table will come with all these few basic ingredients, one of the reason if you do dine in Teppanyaki restaurant you see those chef add on those pepper and salt, now you are your own chef to do it and play around with these to make your food tastier.

yea (24)

This are the Opening promotion that they have now, and if you can really eat and do not mind getting fat, join their Supper happy hour which is Buy one Buffet at Regular Price and 2nd person 50% which is really worth it.

Among many buffet out there, certainly I am recommending this to go with its price smack on at RM48++ that comes to about RM55 per head that offer lots of seafood and meat for you to eat on. Having great sessions with friends I am looking forward to come back for another round.

Food taste is pretty good and did not disappoint us.

Best advice to call in for reservation that will convenient you.

***Remark you need to spend at least 2 hours to eat cuz of the grill time it takes to cook. Me and my family find that 2 hours is not enough cuz we went for late lunch as they were to close for that hour.

Parkroyal (7)

Parkroyal (8)

I just love the special tea that was served to us, that filled with 8 types of ingredient in it. It taste so unique that I cant just help by sipping it so regularly. A bit sweet in taste at the end yet some taste a very bit of saltiness, all I could say that the blend of those specially mix ingredient mix up the taste pretty well. – Recommended!

Parkroyal (9)

Tropical Fruit Yee Sang at Si Chuan Doi Hua

Parkroyal (10)

Normally we have Salmon Yee Sang, this would be one of the most unique yee sang that I have come accross that used Tropical fruits to mixed along. Fresh fruits are place on the plate and ready to be Lou Sang and the taste of it definately gives me the feeling that I am eating healthily. A unique venture. Give it a try . . .

Parkroyal (11)

Braised Sharks Fin with Fish Maw and Crab Roe in Superior Stock

Parkroyal (12)

It is quite a huge portion for a soup that are served with generous amount of ingredient. Every spoonfull are filled with 70% ingredient and less soup as you can see in this picture. It was served like a candle pot with a candle burning at the bottom to ensure our soup is always warm to get the best taste of it.

Parkroyal (13)

Fried Rice with Baby Abalonefried till the rice a bit tad dry as it is suppose to be and nicely top with baby abalone which is a bit chewy.

Parkroyal (14)

One of my favourite dish of the nightWok Fried Prawns with Golden Crispy Oat’ that the prawn is so fresh and juicy, perfectly prepared and work fried till the gravy is nicely coated at the prawn then add on with some cripsy oat that brings out the extra aroma of it. I just cant stop eating this dish. Recommended!

Parkroyal (15)

I do not normally eat fish, as when this dish was served, I said, ‘Siau Liau’ filled with so many chili. Right after my first bite, it naturally continue with 2nd and 3rd. The gravy was showered on my rice, it was just perfect. Do not let the look of it scared you as the spiciness are just mild. Recommended

Parkroyal (16)

Steamed Chicken with Garlic and Preserved Chilli is another dish that served with gravy and lots of chili. Chicken meat is silky smooth and soft, I just love my bite with spoonfull of gravy and the chicken meat to eat along.

Parkroyal (17)

Braised Broccoli and Dried Oysters with Dried Scallops on Steamed Egg White

Parkroyal (18)

Szechuan Peppercorn Tenderloin

Parkroyal (19)

For me, Szechuan Food would not be perfect withtout this dish. You have to eat with care as once you bite on the spicess, your whole tongue would be numb to all taste. You might feel that this is seriously a unhealthy dish with the amount of oil topping it, once you start eating the beef soft and tenderness, you will just continue eating non stop. It is a bit more spicy compare to other dish yet it is still at my spiciness level. ( I cant really eat spicy food).Recommended

Parkroyal (20)

Fried Glutinous Rice Cake on Crispy Lotus Root

Parkroyal (21)

Crispy Pancake

Parkroyal (22)

It is my first time to eatHomemade Fine Beancurd with Wolfberries’ that turns out to be very good. The fine beancurd is soooo smooth in texture and the black sugar that cook with wolfberries is just perfect. I added it with alot of wolfberries. Recommended at the end of the meal.

For restaurant Si Chuan Dou Hua that served authentic Szechuan food, is one of the restaurant I would recommend for Chiense New Year gathering or family reunion to induldge some different taste.. The food is nice and the spiciness level had tone down.

There are many restaurants booming out especially on Shabu-Shabu with in my list (click here previous post), still Nagomi stands out compare to others fake shabu-shabu available out there especially on their normal soup base. Whenever I think of Japanese steamboat Nagomi will always pop out in my mind and with their outlet of Jaya 33 being refurbish, of course there will be changes in their menu and now they are moving to more fine casual dining with more ala-cart dish are placed in the menu. With their latest menu in line for this festive season is their Chirstmas dining menu. So do not be suprise like me and some of my friends, with the expression ‘Huh, got such  thing 1 ah? I thought shabu-shabu only?’

[No Longer in Operation]

Nagomi (1)

Their new outlook with more feel of Japanese Garden on the outside.
