Celebrate delicious CNY meals @ Extra Super Tanker at Damansara Kim

When comes to Chinese New Year, what is there extra? One thing of course there would be extra ang pau’s as we only take once a year. If its not enough then head down to Extra Super Tanker at Damansara Kim for extra umph on their food.

I can only say that I discover this restaurant very recently with influence of Pureglutton and Ken. They are so frequent that often saying how good that this restaurant is and its a must come, till last year I follow them for a special menu ordering that end up paying RM135 each per pax. I must say its one of a unique meal and very satisfying, that worth every penny of it.

Till then, we are back again to kick on their Chinese New Year Menu.

This restaurant is actually no stranger to many business or corporate company and families. Most of them are regular here.

Yee Sang with White Bait

Fried to crips and the ingredients use are very fresh. Compare to a few yee sang that I had, its pretty colourful but not this because none of the shredded vegetables was dyed. Toss and toss higher for good health and prosperity. White bait are fried to crispy that I just keep picking it up to munch without added in.

RM68 Half & RM88 for Full Portion.

Many of my divers friend are against on eating Shark Fins and it had begin to take effect on some restaurant that comes out with options. This is definately a clever creation is Mandarin’s Birds Nest with Fresh Crabmeat Soup as a alternative choice. The soup is thick like sharkfin, and fresh crab meat that is prepare daily that enhance the soup taste with bird nest make it taste like shark fin. – Recommended~

RM48 per individual portion

Iceland Turbot in 2 Styles @ RM12.80/100g and the average size of the fish ranges from 1 to 1.3kg.

Turbot fish is a rare fish to have in restaurant. Those of you have not tried would want to give it a try. Flown all the way from Iceland that makes the fish meat texture different. Prepare in 2 styles that the fish meat were carefully slice with the fish bone are all left behind and deep fried. Then can just peel it off and eat it like cracker. Cracking sound is all over the table and it was gone within seconds.

What happen to the fish slice as it ended up stir fried with erringgi mushrooms and fungus. Fish meat are very soft and perfectly fried along. Sweetness of the meat is there.

Those who love yam, then Yam Treasure Trove @ RM48 – Small & RM68 – Large – is a dish you shall not miss. This dish indicates “overflowing prosperity” and in Cantonese it means (“Poon Moon Put Moon”!). Love the mash yam that fried to crispy on outside and super soft on the yam cook along with crunchy vegetable and nuts.

I have eaten so many sea cucumber and I must say this is the biggest I have come across so far. Like how the chef do it by cutting the sea cucumber into half and pile up all the vegetable on top with fresh chewy scallops . Really suits the meaning of “Abundance from the Ocean” sailing all the way from Philippines. Imported sea cucumber definately wont come cheap especially seasons of Chinese New Year.

Tiger Prawns with Chef’s Special Sauce (“Hee Hah Tai Siu”). Love this sauce as its slightly spicy salty end. To pair with rice is the way to go . . RM10/100g and the minimum order is 300g

To me, super star of the night is this Braised Mutton in Claypot… that means “Hei Hei Yeong Yeong” (in Cantonese). Lamb were carefully chop into right small sizes with little bones along. Skin are quite thick and braised with wood fungus together with herbs and spices to cover the taste of lamb that many people do not like. Still the taste and smell of it is pretty obvious as I love it..

RM80 for a big pot of 12 pieces mutton that enough to feed a table of 10 pax

Salted fermented soy bean (“fu yue”) dip was served with the dish. This is to slightly cover the lamb taste and the chef insist we must dip along. Perfect in taste.

Lap Mei Fan @ RM RM70 for 4-6 pax and RM95 for 8-12 pax.

Serve separately with pipping hot claypot then add on all the ingredient onto the pot and stir it.

After stir the ingredient of sliced Chinese sausages, waxed duck, waxed pork and liver sausages blend with slightly burnt taste of the rice, that make the taste even better.

When comes to chinese desert, this takes up alot of effort that first clean the pear out then add in ingredients and double boil it. This is Double-boiled Snow Pear with Hasma

If you do not prefer set, all the dishes above are specially for CNY and can be order a la carte.

Their Chinese New Year Menu Price starts from RM798++, RM988++ and RM1,398++ per table of 10 pax.

I have made my reservation for CNY 3 weeks ago and its running pretty full. Do give them a call before you head over as its usually fully book during CNY..

If you are asking me where got nice Chinese Restaurant that I know, this restaurant currently top in my list and its a highly recommended place.

McD Prosperity Charity Give Back on 19th & 20th Jan

Kicking off year 2013 with a meaningful start by starting to do charity with McD. Was given the opportunity to stand right in their operating kitchen to help out and also to make the customer waiting longer with our inexperience yet challenging to work in the Kitchen to serve the waiting customer. The charity event took place at McD Kota Damansara on 19^th and 20^th January 2013 to raise proceeds for more than 60 local charity homes.

WE are here early before the lunch crowd on the weekend. . .

The banners are all posted in all McD outlet accross Malaysia on that weekend.

One unique thing about this outlet is that, this McD have McCafe in it. When I was in Australia, McCafe is all available in most of the McD outlet and in Malaysia is only on selected outlet at the moment as they have plans to expand it further to more outlets soon.

Coffee and cakes are available. .

Coffee in McCafe are pretty decent as price are reasonable too.

We were firstly brief by the outlet manager on the procedure of the whole kitchen operation, on how the counter punching in and to which burger line that will start preparing the burger first. This remind me of a game Burger Rush or something like that that every burger creation are in order.

They event have mini flipcharts for staff that are new in the kitchen to get easy understanding.

I just love their sauce can that located on top. Every click is the right amount of sauce being put onto.

Then comes to the beef patty griller. Look at those juicy yummy slices that been take out from the pan . .

Kitchen operating crew is very effective as every one know where their bay is and their job scope to make it efficient. We were told that to get the whole process from burger right to waiting customer the whole experience should be less than 3 minutes. That’s why its known as Fastfood!

We are all getting ready and excited to be hands on the war zone. We were told that we have to wash our hand for 30 seconds for hygiene purpose and also have to wash again every one hour.

Since this would be our first experience in the kitchen, we are given a easier task, instead of making Big MAc with 3 layers we go for the easiest and also their charity product for that weekend. Prosperity burger that we will be handling.

So we were given 1st round of demo before we being. Bread toasting machine ..

Follow by adding on 10 slices of onions – yes .. that specific on the supervisor but sometimes it may be more or maybe less depends on the staff experience. Then grab the slices of meat in the gravy and top on, pack and ready to go out to customer.

We were told that, every order came in, there are 2 lane in the burger production area. More experience staff will be place in line 1 is also known as priority lane, or fast lane. Line 2 are more for training staff as when line 1 are filled with order then it will flow to line 2 automatically to cut short customer experience in waiting.

Follow by we have our hands on with supervision on second round. .

and jeng jeng jeng. . . we are all by ourself on making burger. Its fun to work in here yet its a bit challenging when lunch crowd is huge and you make the line jam.

After 1 hours in kitchen, we are out to enjoy our Prosperity set.

Available in 2 types, chicken and beef. I used to eat beef when comes to prosperity burger set. This round decided to try out chicken and to my surprise, Chicken taste much better than beef. Black pepper taste is pretty strong to my liking and slight spicy. On that weekend, every prosperity set sell throughout Malaysia McD, RM1 will be donated out to selected charity homes.

It was a great experience to be able to assist in the kitchen and also learn that its not easy to handle all that. It definitely look easy but when you hands on, its different story.

Every year, some of my friend are looking forward for their prosperity set from McDonalds . This special limited edition burger had gain its popularity since 1994 and capture some of its loyal fans throughout the years. This limited edition burger is also only available in Malaysia back in those days and not only that, it has been so successful that countries like Singapore and Hong Kong have followed suit, serving the McDonald’s Prosperity Burger in its restaurants to a growing number of fans around the region.

The McDonald’s Prosperity Burger consists of meat patty made with 100% beef. Dipped in a signature black pepper sauce layered with crunchy slivered onions and tucked in warm sesame bread, all it takes is a single bite to discover the great taste of the McDonald’s Prosperity Burger. Here Comes Fortune

It has been quite a long time since I watch Alam Tam movie and as far as I can remember, the very old film I watch when I was young that he acted together with ‘King Kong’ and the botak guy they all in a series of comedy movie also.

Well, to me it is great to see him re-appearing in the movie screen again, as his action and character is always funny. The same to this movie when he act as The God of Fortune. Then he ask all his deity to go down earth to give prosperity to selected target to each of them. You have to see what device they use. Its very modern and funny to be used for the god and all the given task to the deity that they have to finish it within the time frame if not they will be forever stuck in the human world.

Not a bad movie to watch too as I thought it would be bad but turns out to be quite funny or just me again being mou liew?

Another nice Chinese New Year Movie, it’s a comedy but then as my friend told me, if did not watch TVB you would not know who are the artist but even to me I seldom watch I know most of the artist..

The movie is about 2 best friends going after a girl and many years down the road from best friend they had become enemy over a girl and even open business opposite each other to create stiff competition and promotion. Then came a very rich guy from china plan to buy the whole street and the whole story took a twist and become back good friend.

Chinese New Year Mall Decorations’10

Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Every Chinese is busy replanish stock for other family members and friends to visit them. Traffic and parking is a pain in the ass but another thing that draws alot of people to the mall is to take picture of the deco. The deco in most of the malls now are really putting alot of efford and investment in it. Its very impressive as part of the crowd drawing. Did not went to alot of malls but just went to the very main few ones.

The decoration of 1-Utama is the ‘Fatt Choy Mau’ Prosperity Cat.. When it was setting up, I always keep wonder will the hand move like what most restaurant display.

and recently most people flock to this place for the Christmas Deco and now their Cny Deco also very impressive with alot of ‘Mei Hua’ deco on the side walk at Pavilion
