Pumpkin Soup

Browsing

Another new discovery for me as I seldom come to this Bangsar Shopping Mall. First discovery was a dining outlet next to this, WIP is pretty good and worth recommended the now after being invited to Nokia 501 Asha Launch with dinner incuded, I must say the 3 course meal of food quality is quite impressive at The Press Room.

pressroom (1)

Pressroom is an interpretation of a vintage European brasserie. The emphasis is on simple Anglo-French brasserie food made from the finest ingredients.

pressroom (3)

Love the ambiance, as its interior is modern European style.

pressroom (2)

Since there are 2 of us so I order 2 different sets of dinner.

pressroom (4)

pressroom (5)

I have never put any expectation in this dining as usually the food catering is pretty let down and start off with Pumpkin Soup. I must say I am suprise with how good this soup is. Slightly thick and creamy that good enough with well balance of taste. Not too strong or thick with pumpkin and well mixture of little cream that they are using. It was gone within seconds. One of the best pumpkin soup I can come acorross in KL.

pressroom (6)

Casear Salad is pretty decent.

pressroom (7)

Pan Fried Sea Bass with Spiced Chick Peas and Tomato Ragout. Fish is freash and being pan fried to perfection that the skin is slighlty crips with mild salted end along with fish meat is soft. Season spices chick peas pairs well with tomato ragout and fish. I put 3 of the ingredient onto my fish that burst in flavours. Loving it.

pressroom (8)

Grass Fed Rib Eye with Mixed Salad and Black Pepper Sauce

pressroom (9)

For such a place, I never thought that the Rib Eye is awesome. Soft and juicy. Serve medium and top into our list too for steak now.

pressroom (10)

For Carrot Cake, its one of the best I have come across, moist enough, not too dry and the icing is not to sweet. Perfect to eat along with a good coffee

pressroom (11)

Apple Tarte Tartin

pressroom (12)

Latte for the end of the meal.

For a nice dining or catch up with friend, this outlet had fallen into my recommended list also. Price are reasonable. Easily RM 40-RM100 per head depending on what you are ordering.

I get to know KL Live as a place to hang out for events with their huge club space on second floor. As the place now had went over major renovation and currently host a few F&B outlets that is quite promising. One of the outlet is Dirty Nelly that serve nice Non-Halal Meal, that is quite well known over their Damansara branch. I guess, by opening at this place is good news for KL people or those who work nearby.

Dirty nelly (1)

I got curious about their name and ask how did they actually come out with the name itself and here is how the story goes:

Over a hundred years ago, a middle aged farmer and his faithful pig, Dirty Nelly lived in a small village in Northern England which was engirdled and secluded, for the most part untrodden as yet by tourist or landscape painter. It was a fact known to all that Miss Nelly was the oldest in the land, even the border Reiver clans of Southern Scotland had no doubt on the subject.

One unfortunate day, the village was cursed with famine. The crops were dying and the villagers were starving. Having nothing to eat himself, the farmer stood before Dirty Nelly, and contemplated. Finally, he made up his mind to sacrifice Dirty Nelly for the sake of the people. It was a relief to the others for Dirty Nelly was so large that she fed the village for an entire week which regained the villager’s morale and uplifted their spirits.

Yet, at this new age, few understood and still fewer knew this but with that, that little village went on to prosper… [Sourse from: Dirty Nelly website]

How many of you actually dine before Mexican food as not to mention those commercialize  ones, as there is one that serve near authentic Mexician food which is Frontera Sol of Mexico that smack right in the heart of Jaya One. One of the few outlets that hard to miss if you are around the area.

What is in the house today is their Christmas menu, as you might think its early but nope, its just about a month away where is just nice you start to offer Christmas menu.

Frontera (1)

Frontera (2)

Frontera (3)

its a place that normal pack with families and friend to come by to get their favorite dish.

For their Christmas menu, they are preparing the food to be as authentic as possible, that will differ in individual taste.

Frontera (4)

One of the thing that I sip non stop is this Watermelon Agua Fresca – Non Alchohol drink, that had a bit of soda, sweet watermelon and mild lime taste as the end is just thirst quenching.

Frontera (8)

Next, head to the  most classic drink of all is this 1919 Sangria an Alcoholic drink origins from Spain and, different restaurant, pub and bar prepare this drink differently, what you taste here might not be the same as other outlet as they have their own recepi on creating it.

Frontera (5)

Traditional Tamales (Choice of chicken / Beef)

Frontera (6)

Find that this is the Bak Chang in Mexician version. Like sticky rice, that have lots of ingredient inside and the taste is quite different but rich in ingredient.

Frontera (7)

Roasted Butternut Squah Soup With Sage Pesto, as after I finish the whole plate, as I thought it was pumpkin soup and I am a bit suprise that its not. It is butternut, anyway, I still enjoy the soup.

Frontera (9)

Mesquite Smoked Turkey with Broccoli Florets Topped with Chili Con Queso

Frontera (10)

This is one of the main star for the night that, when ask, do you prefer fish or Turkey. Instantly 90% of them order turkey, as during Christmas period, we have been taught from small is that Christmas = Turkey (must have dish). Turkey meat was well marinated, soft and prefect pair with gravy and the best of all to pair along that you must not miss is the pinkish Cranberry Chipotle Relish (a bit sour sweet and very unique in taste, I sure do not mind to have more of that), pair along with sweet potato, yes its sweet potato not meatloaf.

Frontera (11)

Since every one opted for the Turkey, so I try out their Veracruz-style Fillet of Red Snapper with mexican rice & sonora vegetables. Usually, I do not take fish and its quite beyond my expectation that the fish is good, soft fish meat and the gravy is abit sour and you eat along with jalapeno which is not too spicy, that balance up. After effect will make your tongue a bit numb. 😀

Frontera (12)

Peach Tres Leches Cake

Frontera (13)

Key Lime Pie

Do not know where to head for our Christmas, then can try out some Mexician Food.

To me, one of the place that I used to hang out often is Solaris KL and recently I discover a new place drink and dine or would be another new area of F&B at Mont Kiara Area is this Solaris Dutamas. The place is 90% complete and there are quite handful of F&B already operating in the area. On the Table

on the table (9)

At the far end which is the private area, that one good concept that I love about this restaurant is ‘On The Table’ that allows us to order something off the menu and try to give us experience variety of cuisine available in the world to be available on the table, just that have to make booking and let the chef know that you will like to dine something off from their menu. They have great combination of a few chef with different expertise in different cuisine that trying to fulfill customers satisfaction as much as possible. You can even asked them what is the fresh ingredient you got for the day and ask them to cook along that line or they will play around with the fresh ingredient and come out something special for you.

Then we were caught by surprise when we were told that the person lead by  Executive Chef Riz Redz that have vast experience in Italian cuisine at oversea for more than 10 years and also son of our very own local celebrity Chef ‘Chef Wan’

on the table (10)

As one of the latest crave for a foodie is hunting for Non-Halal food which is mushrooming especially on pork burger or for to hunt for a satisfied porkie meal. It was on a trip recently to celebrate Karen’s Birthday and again I was put in charge for hunting ground, a suggestion came up by Kebbie mentioning Sanbanto then I went to Google it up that they do have good reviews from bloggers and decided to go there. Then a restriction came up that it takes time to travel there as its in SS2. Then after a while I found out that they have a branch now in Puchong at IOI Boulevard that is called the Pork Place which is one of a upcoming center for FnB heaven that I think its very similar to Sunway Giza.

.

i  just love this picture with 2 cute piglet on the tree. . .. Do not be suprise that there are alot of painting of piggy on the wall.

blup

I was out for Sunday lunch to Low Yatt that Simon the founder of Blup Blup and we were shower for token of appreciation by being a member of Blup Blup, they had organize lunch at EspressSOUP, and treat all the members a meal which is more like a mini get together.

blup (2)

Most of us when we head to dine in any restaurant, soup comes in a set or we would order the soup separately if we find that the soup we want is not in the list, but one of the owner had come out with this idea that why not soup for everyone? By creating idea to life, this is how EspresSOUP been set up, and that made them the first Soup Kiosk in Malaysia.

blup (3)

This is one of their signature bread that they are using this farmer bread which is made of wheat and rye flour that is oil, sugar and preservative free. In the Kiost, there are a few choices of soup to choose from and other food like sandwich and spaghetti.

blup (4)

Ways to eat the bread when the soup is pour upon, and the ingredient guide that making the bread.

blup (5)

‘Clam Chowder’ which is creamy and can taste the clam in pieces, dipping it with bread its good.

blup (6)

‘Mushroom Soup’

blup (7)

‘Pumpkin Soup’ that I had made the wrong choice on the bread, which me and my friend think that, if put mushroom soup in would taste much better. The bread is a bit hard is to hold on the soup in there.

blup (8)

Then you cut it ooze out from the bread its like a burst dam, then you cut the bread into pieces and dip along to eat.
