b.land pjmenya shishidoBeen a long while since I last had my taste of Menya Shishido Ramen in PJ. This round back to try miso soup. i find it okay and maybe the soup is too pungent for me. Of course different people love different kind of soup base.best ramen in pjgasket alley

ramen klmenya shi shi do

This is one of their ribs Ramen series that viral for long time. Only decided to give it a try as the price tag is on the high side. About RM 48 per bowl. However upon serving it I find it is worth it. Huge long ribs and the smell of it is just amazing. Instantly makes me hungry.

Biting on the meat, it gives the melt in the mouth. It is so soft, and cook to perfection. Marination is perfect as have light smoky seasning flavour and match well with my soup base. Spicy + black garlic. Not too thick but just nice. Wash my palate off nicely with their green tea. – Recommended!

Onsen egg is cook to perfection. Slight salty soy marination and inside is just thick runny. Creamy and milky. Perfecto!

Ramen Lovers will be joyful with this ICHIKAKUYA Ramen hail all the way from Yokohama. An authentic Japanese ramen all the way from Yokohama had landed in Subang, Malaysia. Operating in this newly develop UOA business park.

Ken had been telling me that I must come to his current new all time favourite ramen place. After 3 weeks, finally I am here for the ramen.

best ramen in kl

Their menu is pretty standard. what they are well known as they are using exclusive wheat flour, to make ramen noodle from it. For Malaysia, they imported it all the way from Yokohama and made the noodle fresh every morning. making them like Authentic Japanese Ramen from Yokohama.

Japnese Ramen

Do check out their menu as this place offer variety of style in your noodle.

  1. authentic way is of course :
    1. hard noodle
    2. normal taste
    3. normal chicken oil
  2. soup:
    1. soy sauce base
    2. salt base soup (best for first timer)

  1. however we love our taste strong so our order are Max Ramen with Soy Sauce @ RM 25
    1. hard noodle
    2. strong taste
    3. xtra chicken oil

Ichikakuya ramen(8)

authentic japanese ramen

Every ramen shop got their own signature noodle and soup base. I quite like this as the noodle is thicker than usual, however love the chewie’ness of it as I order mine hard. not many locals will like this texture as when I was in Japan, they thought me to go for Hard which is most of the Japanese dine in that way.

pork slice

the thinly slice char siew is perfect. thin like near paper, torch burnt that give the slight burnt umami that I like and the fats is near to melt in your mouth.

yokohama ramen

The soup is quite thick to my liking, punch with flavour as the soup base is being cook for 36 hours. I chose my soup with strong chicken oil that gives a very nice “chicken’ish” aroma (some of you might not like it) but balance well with the soup. The first instant hit is the chicken flavour then after taste is smooth and not too pork bone taste.

The best of all is not their onsen egg but is their QUILL egg. Do give it a try and if you do order add on, I will definitely add on quill egg with Asahi beer.!

First timer, it is advise for you to go everything normal.

Ichikakuya (12)

Ken style of eating is to order Sutameshi Rice Bowl – pork bely rice @ RM 18. We have to eat our noodle till all clear and left with about 3-4 spoonful of soup base, enjoy 1 or 2 bite of this rice then pour the rest of the balance of rice into the ramen soup with rice. (this is how I was taught in Japan too). To get the best aroma of different flavours.

Overall, it is very interesting as each combination gives me different layer of taste. How we eat it, I get to enjoy at least 4 layers of different taste when comes till the pork belly rice. The rice is good cause of the soy sauce used. Damm good!

this is another type of ramen as usually ramen is hard to compare Apple to Apple as every chef have their own specialty. This is definitely one of the top in my recommended list. One of the best Ramen in KL.

This was a week before MCO. A random exploring as wanted to go another round for Tomo Ramen, but the shop did not open on that day and I was craving for a nice bowl of ramen. Remember facing main road there was one ramen shop and decided to head to Ramen Seirok-ya.

halal ramen in kl

Upon reading the menu, I find this fascinating as this is the first time I come acrss Halal Ramen in PJ. Quite rare to get one as the one which is pork free using chicken broth is Kagura in at J’s Gate dining at Lot 10.

A ramen shop that uses chicken meat and bone as their main ingredient to cook 8-10 hours soup base.

ramen in kl

A recipe from Japan, and if I am not mistaken is also part with Japanese owner, that they want to share their traditional recipe with Malaysians.

ramen in pj

This is indeed a great news for me and my muslim friends where on and off they ask me where got Halal ramen for  them to try. Now I can say that there is one Halal Ramen shop in KL.

ramen in uptown

Price wise is very decent for an operator in Uptown. Starting from RM 15.40 for a bowl of ramen. Mana boleh dapat?

ramen seirok-ya (6)

I am a big fan of Shoyu base. Decided to try out Toripaitan Shoyu Egg @ RM 17.40 with thin noodle. Order their regular style too. Quite like their shoyu base, as it is clear, mild spicy and quite fragrant. Egg I wish it is more flavourful then it would be perfect. Chicken meat is soft and juicy.

ramen seirok-ya (9)

ramen seirok-ya (7)

Of course when in a Ramen Shop, die die also must try their original to see where is the benchmark. Toripan Shio Egg @ RM 17.40.

Different taste of broth. Milky, medium thick but it is acceptable for me, as every ramen chef have their own tricks under their sleeves and I am certainly impress for a Halal ingredient to churn out this taste.

For their black pepper, is one of the best and fragrant. Eat all the original flavour in your bowl. Half way through if you decided to enhance the taste of your soup base, add little by little. I highly recommend their white pepper. Really do enhance the taste of the soup.

Do add little by little as it is very strong in taste.

ramen seirok-ya

well, I would say this is one of the best HALAL ramen shop in PJ that I come across. Good news that all my muslim friend can enjoy one of a authentic ramen from Japan in this shop.

Since now is during Ramadan Period. Do give them a call as saw their FB they do have pick up services.

Super Ramen by rudifook in Sri Petaling is one of a local fusion ramen that is gaining its popularity. From the team of Rudifook previously did make an atas Wan Tan Mee at Kota Damansara as now they have spread their wings into another food catagory.

Super Ramen (3)

with their latest concept, you can enjoy a bowl of pippin hot ramen with a glass of cocktail. Love the ambiance, which is chic and modern. Their service is kinda off interesting, where upon your arrival, if there are tables are not ready, you will be ask to seat around the bar area then they will set up the table for you.

Super Ramen (4)

Super Ramen (5)

try out their Kimchi Ramen. Pork broth is not to bad as it has some unique flavour. Kimchi is not that prominent and not my kind of taste. The onsen egg cook to perfection. Just lack of the slightly brown colour as it does look pale and the flavour of the egg is missing. It could be perhaps their own style. Noodle texture is alright ‘lah’

Do not know what to order, so order this instead. King of Pork Chop Ramen @ RM 26.80 . Serve along with quite huge pork piece. As big as near my friends face. Pork is cook to perfection, however lacking of flavour profile. Broth to me is rather pale and nothing to shout about. Looking for a bargain bowl hunter, then this could be one of your option.

Super Ramen (11)

Super Ramen (12)

Overall, I find this shop nothing to shout about, as social media did build my expectation up. Hence visiting with a certain expectation is bad. Maybe will give them another chance few months later. Believe there are a lot better ramen in KL over this. (but again, it is fusion – so cant expect much)

They still do have their own regular as this place not really my kind of thing. It could be your taste too.

There is actually one shop on Solaris area that serve pretty awesome Ramen. Menzo Japanese Ramen is actually not so new in the area but their ramen is da bomb! More like a hidden gem in this area. I certainly hope that this brand can sustain as I have seen a few brands that come and go.

Menzo Japanese Ramen (2)

Menya Musashi no longer the top Ramen in KL, however there are a few decent ones that is still my favourite such as:

  1. Menya Shi Shi do
  2. Bankara Ramen
  3. Bari Uma

Menzo Japanese Ramen (3)

One awesome thing about this place is that they have the Japanese BBQ and their meat marination is perfect!

Menzo Japanese Ramen (4)

Menzo Japanese Ramen (5)

Classic Pork Broth Ramen @ RM 21 as the pork broth that had cook more than 15 hours. Love the solid taste of it. Flavourful with pork bone and ramen texture is just right.

Menzo Japanese Ramen (7)

Menzo Japanese Ramen (8)

3 of their sauces is good, depending which taste you like.

Menzo Japanese Ramen (9)

Mix mushroom is just quite normal. Nothing to shout about.

Menzo Japanese Ramen (10)

Here you go on their Japanese BBQ. which I always have it along with my Ramen.

I have been here alot of times and one of my favourite Ramen and Japanese BBQ place at the moment. Ramen price is very decent as however the BBQ is just slightly abit expensive. If you are looking for best ramen in KL, this is one of my recommendations. Also consider one of the cheaper ramen as starts from RM 21 onwards.
