Tropicana is one of my favourite mall for movies based on convinience in parking, much less people and cheaper by 10%. One of the reason its nearer to my house and office. Well, there are actually some eatery in Tropicana that serve pretty decent food that I small little shop that I have dine pretty often is Tuan Yuen that serve Taiwanese food at Lower Ground, same area as Tea Chansii or Carrefour Level.

[UPdate – No Longer in Operation]

Bare in mind that Taiwanese food are mild in taste, not as heavy taste as our local food.

Taiwan (1)

This little shop is a small family business that operate by both the ‘tau keh so’ and her son along with 2 worker. The owner herself is from Taiwan that had migrated to Malaysia and starting up this business to promote Taiwanese food. Since I came back from Taiwan, this is something that is quite near to Taiwan food taste and sadly to say she is tweaking the taste to suits our local taste bud.

Taiwan (2)

Price is pretty decent that starts from RM7.50 and quite a huge range of Taiwanese food that you can choose from.

Taiwan (3)

One of my favourite is the dumpling that you must order, Me and ken love it alot as we find its pretty similiar to Taiwan. Something simple to start off with.

Taiwan (4)

Taiwanese sausage is pretty simple and direct whereby you can eat it in most of the night market . . .

Taiwanese Style Extra spicy Beef Rice @ RM 11.90

Taiwan (6)

One of their signature is this Big Meal Beef Noodle, Extra Spicy @ RM 11.90 that I often order. Colour of the soup gives you the impresion that its not spicy and after a few sips of the soup, it will make your tongue numb as, spiciness are more towards Szechuan style. Loving it~ noodle are not cook consistant as it is suppose to be smooth and thin while eating and it have to depends on who cook it. If cook by both the owner or the son it taste good, and if its the worker, it would be usually overcook.

Beef slices are soft and goes well with noodle. They do prepare tissue for you on the table for you to wipe your sweat off. :D, Those who could not take spicy dish, it is not adviseable to order this, or maybe you can request the owner to toned it down for you.

Another thing that its a must order in here is their Winter Melon Tea. One of the best by far that I often came here to make a take away. I personally feel that it beats any of the bubble milk tea shop out there.

One of my personal fav Taiwanese shop.

For people whole love homemade fish ball, Tang Pin Kitchen located in SS2 directly opposite Esso station had become one of my frequent place for dining. Also apologize that the name of dish is not complete cuz I lost the receipt.  . 🙂

Tang Pin (1)

I usually drop by here for lunch as its fast, simple and easy parking around the area as it is located at the edge of SS2 heading towards Seapark.

Tang Pin (2)

A simple modern kopitiam style that filled with marble tables and chairs. .

Tang Pin (3)

Tang Pin (4)

Price in here is consider cheap and with quality they served match the standard overall. . .

Tang Pin (5)

One of my favorite dish is this Mee Pok @ RM 6 a simple bowl of noodle that filled with mince pork and lots of lard on top of it. The noodle is thing and the texture is very different, with its a bit springy yet do not taste like koay teow or pan mee. That’s the unique of this noodle that I like it. I always love mine to add on with chili that is placed on the table and just mix it all together, the taste is whoola~ – Recommended

Tang Pin (6)

A side order that we order is ‘Bitter gourd fish ball soup’, as I find that the bitter gourd taste is not pungent enough to my likings, but a few of my friend already said its quite strong and some don even drink it.

Tang Pin (7)

For a small bowl of porridge like this that cost around RM5-6 if I am not mistaken is simply got rip off. . . Taste wise, nothing to shout about.

Tang Pin (8)

for a value worth around RM7.50 I have no complain on this with the amount of ingredient they added on . .

Tang Pin (9)

Besides their simple menu that they are offering, their ‘Tong Sui’ is pretty recommended by me too. Among the tong sui I have come across, I quite like theirs as its flavourful and not expensive. Start off with this Soya Bean . . with more like homemade taste and I love my soya bean a bit thick in texture, and they add on with old ginger that makes it very warm after drink it.

Tang Pin (10)

Soya Bean with Tong Yuen that is my favourite of all. . .

Tang Pin (12)

At the base of it is filled with a layer of black sugar which I assume would be homemade as it is quite thick in texture and a bit sticky. . If you drink it directly without stiring it, it taste pale and after you stir the black sugar it turns very nice, and you can see mini slices of old ginger in it. Then ‘Tong Yuen’ is soft and the skin is not thick that filled with sesame fillings. – Recommended~

Tang Pin (11)

Gingko Fu Chuk Barley is another one that I like, that the barley was not over cook, ginko is soft enough and the fu chuck been boil till very soft and mashy type.

Overall, this is surely a great place to dine with their simple parking and the price and quality that they are offering and my fav of all is the Mee Pok and order a simple bowl of homemade fish ball to eat along ..

It had been so long that since I last step into this shop as it was not until recently I pay a visit again. No doubt that they do have their signature roast chicken which is a must try item when you are in the shop. Kenny Rogers

As for this round, I head onto their latest promotion that caught my attention with Chicken and Pasta Meal promotion. Looks huge in size that makes me think, will I be able to finish this dish?

Usually with limited edition menu, there must have limited edition drinks also. I grab myself with Minty Green Tea Mocktail (RM7.50) as I always love green tea. Taste is quite refreshing and with strong hint of mint flavour that might have overpower the taste of green tea. Love the gassy taste of it.

Then when my friend ordered Minty Passion Mocktail (RM7.50) I find that this had taste better compare to the other one.

Previously my friend did told me about this place, never really got a chance to try out. Just so coincidence that happen to find my friend around Wangsa Maju area and I thought of this place for lunch.

The outlook of the shop which is kinda hard to get spotted cuz its located at the very corner.

Their plain menu with all black.

The set lunch menu to be choose from RM7.90 – RM15.90. After ordering my food, I decided to walk around to see its very own 4 section. What I have in my thought its someting like Quattro club. The restaurant occupied 2 story.

So start off from the top floor, which I came into this room. Interesting~ Definately suits me, but the section was closed, open more for dinner. This is their ‘Winter Room’

Pretty amazed of their interior, with this the sofa area sure very comfy.

The other section of the winter.

Walk out from winter room, this is ‘Autumm’ which is under the sun light. For smokers, I think this area sure will be a nice place to hang out, especially at night. This section also opens at night only.
Followed by the ground floor which lead by the spiral staircase to this ‘Summer’ area. The decoration of fan, lighting and the coconut tree sure makes the environments feels more summer.
This is the ‘Spring’ area which open up for lunch. Have a very nice interior which is pretty comfy and enjoying your lunch.
All set lunch comes with this set of appetizer. From very left is the
Jack fruit desert: not much taste at all, the santan is very diluted. The jack fruit is not sweet.
Cake: hopeless, its a bit hard, the chocolate top more on powdery taste.
Watermelon: okay lah~
The karipap: One word. Taste Geli!
Given a complimentary ‘Green Tea’
This is the extra side order which is ‘Vietnamese Cripsy Prawn Roll with Mango’. Mentioning with mango, the first bite, we could not detect any mango taste only can see a mango slice in there, the prawn is just average and the roll was friend to perfection with sesame seed around it. With the sauce in there, we feel that the taste does not really match as it covered up the mango taste. RM 8
My lunch order ‘Chicken and Cheeze Pasta’. Which noting much to comment on it. Just taste very normal. RM 9.90

The next order is ‘Chinese Style Roasted Chicken Rice’. Quite a large portion with the chicken they are giving consider alot. They sauce taste quite mild, just nice to go along with the chicken, the chicken meat is soft as were given breast part, to eat it with white rice perfectly goes along very well. RM 9.90

The next order is ‘Americian Club Sandwich’ RM14. With the price tag slap on the sandwich, sure it is not a disappointment. It is very nice, the veggie is fresh, the turkey ham is nice, fried egg and some chicken pieces and with the dressing the put on, its a sandwich you would be asking for.

Honestly, I would give them second chance for their food, most probably would try to dine at night to see what is the difference but of course I would say that this would be one of the best spot to hang out with friends especially the Winter and Autumm area. Dissapointed on food of that day but impress with the ambiance.
All the price are nett~

Noting to do and was doing some shopping at Mid valley, then walk across the road saw this shop. Since the lighting out there caught my attention and it is Ipoh chicken rice.

Walked into the front area saw this guy was so hardworking doing his preparation. The funny thing is that the other guy told him that, be cool be cool, just act normal, ppl from magazine taking you. Yau yeng arleady. I was laughing inside my heart and walking in after that.

The display chicken sure do look tempting.

The menu is simple. 1 page settle the thing. The most funny thing in the menu is NO PRICE. I was sitting there thought of SHIT…don know will kena how much already. What the heck..just try la… There are quite a number of selection in the food especially the ‘Siew Yuk’ seems like a lot ppl ordering as me the only 1 there. Cannot finish. Will be next round.

While waiting just snap the interior…normal high class kopitiam style. Without car passing by.

They asked me what I want as usually go to Ipoh of course try the Hor Fun’ . It is quite oily on the too and can see like a layer of it but sure it does taste good as compare to the one in Ipoh, not much difference. RM 2 for this
Heee, as usual as any where got ‘Pork Ball’ I will order. My favourite. It is good though and it is big in size. 1 biji hantam into mouth will be too big. Like this very much. Only RM4

This is their Signature dish. ‘Chicken’ . With the price of RM7 they are charging and only a few pieces I feel that it is abit pricey. But the chicken is not as soft and the skin is not as smooth as the 1 in Ipoh but no complain. Not bad.

The funny thing is that the service to me is extra nice and like there is 1 waiter standing on the other side waiting to serve me. Maybe they saw me taking pictures of their dish and thought I am some magazine or newspaper ppl. hahah~ cannot denied that enjoy that privilege. Just that no Disc. Was hopping so.

Mid Valley(opposite Star Bucks Ground floor)

This cafe really reminds me back to those days when I was studying at Taylor where Asia Cafe did not exist yet. It was only like an abandoned area with kampung style deco and a western food restaurant. INTI high rise building were never build yet also. Well, well, back to Asia cafe for food. It is like a hawker center or called it a food court without air con. But sure do famous for watching soccer. Have alot of big screens TV around.
I was so hungry so I ordered this ‘Red Wine Pork Chop rice set’ in one of the stalls in there. Asking me where about, ermmm… it is nearby I don’t know which is which. Ahh..remembered, the stretch that same with the firewood pizza stall or can say that in front of the TakoYaki stall stretch. In the picture display at the stall is sure look very tempting, bout the same as what I took, but honestly the red wine sauce is quite strong, makes it not really good to savior. The pork meat is soft even suits for grandpa to eat and chew. For this dish is RM7.50 (if not mistaken)rating 5/10. okay lah~

This is the Mee Yoke Prawn Mee a.k.a Hokkien Mee, what pg ppl called. Taste very nice, enough salty, and mix with everything you can get, like intestine, pai kuat, and extra added small prawns.RM 5 only. Rating 7/10

I have always in love with the fire woods pizza, as I find it nicer but not to be denied that Franky’s pizza is not bad also. Was walking around like hungry zombie, then look at the pizza like quite alot people ordering so decided to join the crowd. This 1 can’t remember called what but sure do remember it is no.16 in the menu. Got pineapple, ham, cheeze and don know what others already but sure do know that among the 3, this is the best. The aroma of the pizza is very nice, soft, yet juicy with the tomato sauce base and not too thick. Small size of pizza is priced at RM9
