Over quite sometime there are many Hong Kong dessert that open and close down to the extend some of it are very good ones and I often wonder how come no one took this franchise Hoi Lau Shan that serve superb mango dessert in many version. Guess what?!! Finally one of the best Hong Kong dessert Hoi Lau Shan had put a step in Malaysia and 1-Utama being their first outlet.

I am very sure many of you that travel to Hong Kong will be familiar with this brand as its nearly available every where, something like our bubble tea Taiwan version. I rarely miss this dessert as everytime I went to Hong Kong upon arrival at the air port I would wallop 2-3 cups of these dessert before I take my public transportation. If you are a dessert lover then you would not want to miss it~

Hoi Lau San (1)

Now most Malaysians need not travel to Hong Kong to take this dessert anymore as it available here now, located at first floor in front of Isetan at 1-Utama Old Wing. Its just a few days old and well, I just cant resist the temptation and faster came here to satisfy my crave hoping that what is serve here would be something similar to the ones in Hong Kong. Besides that, if I remember correctly those branches in Hong Kong do not have the word healthy dessert…hmmm , I guess here they serve healthy ones?

As I was sitting and happily place my order, many of passerby checking out their menu and many are skeptical on their dessert. .

Hoi Lau San (2)

Standing there and stare blankly then walk away.

Hoi Lau San (3)

Its more like a kiosk style that smack right in the middle of the new old wing and its pretty hard for you to miss this huge orange sign board.

Hoi Lau San (4)

Menu are the same compare to the ones in Hong Kong as I have just return there 2 months ago . .

Hoi Lau San (5)

As I browse thru the menu one thing that caught my attention so hard is the pricing here, I would that that it cost a bomb to order and didnt know that it is so cheap here. A simple bowl of these dessert cost from RM9.90 onwards? OMG! In Hong Kong the ones that I usually order cost about HKD 48 = RM 24 per bowl here and I can say its at least 55% cheaper here!!!

Hoi Lau San (6)

Staring at the menu, I happily ordered all my favourites and to my disappointment one of my favorite which is with pamelo is out of stock as according to their waiter, he apologize as they are just a few days old and will restock very soon.

Hoi Lau San (6.3)

Mango Juice & Mango Cube – Mango Jelly @ RM 7.90. I usually had 2 cups of these that filled with thick freshly blend mango, top with mango cubes and jelly at the bottom, that makes me slurppp non stop of this. Surprisingly, the taste is like 80% similiar just that its not so sweet compare to the ones in Hong Kong.

Hoi Lau San (7)

Mango Icey Sweetie Ball @ RM 11.90 with freshly blend mango puree, mango cubes and glutinous ball. As near to Hong Kong version itself the glutinous ball is near to pretty hard not like our Malaysian version which is soft and chewy. Some of you might not like it.

Hoi Lau San (8)

One of the thing that you must not miss is this Fresh Mango Mochi @ RM 4.90 for 3 pieces

Hoi Lau San (9.0)

Skin over here is a bit thick yet its still soft that is made from mango and its shove with one huge chunk of mango cubes inside and outer layer is rube with coconut. One of my favourite and for RM4.90 I what 9 of these. Satisfying!

Hoi Lau San (11)

Triple Mango Delight @ RM 9.90

Hoi Lau San (12)

Filled with mango Ice cream, mango cubes, and a layer of mango pudding. The pudding tasted a bit artificial but well, I still enjoy my dessert.

If I get to order my Mango with Pamelo, it would be a perfect order yet nevertheless it is indeed satisfying for the price we are paying.

Upon what I eat today is my recommended list and if you like try others it should be fine, but not too miss these few as I mention to start off with . .

Last round in Hong Kong me and Ken (foodpoi.com) both of us whack this dessert with similiar amount cost us about RM120 which is near whopping HKD 250 just for these dessert itself and now for tonight I pay about RM50 for this whole package! Even my malay friends that went to Hong Kong they enjoy these dessert very much and ta pau mochi back for their parents!

Definately I am coming for more with its price being offered here. Taste is 80% similiar to the ones in Hong Kong as I believe the mango is less sweet and aromatic compare to the ones in Hong Kong. Well, with the price I am paying certainly I have no complain and just to enjoy.

One of the highly recommended Hong Kong dessert now from me!

Remark: After went to this outlet a few times, find that their quality is like roller coaster, sometimes its superb, sometimes it far below par because of the mango quality they have for the day. Its rather dissapointing compare to the first day that I had it. On htis branch, do not put so much high hope yet something to look for. . .

*Updates – 2nd jan 2014 : officially their dessert quality drop from bad to worst

I remember when I came back from Hong Kong for holiday few years ago, and I was craving for Hong Kong desert after that, until I saw one of the outlet that started back in 1-Utama and from that moment the interior was very nice yet the desert was not impressive. Over the years, they have grown stronger and now, that they had a total of 6th outlet with the latest laid in the heart of Kuchai Lama.

My Honeymoon Desert is known for their using finest ingredient to make this Hong Kong Style Desert.

When I walked into the shop, I thought I walked to the wrong outlet as I didnt know they have redesign the whole concept and with this their latest outlet is one of their latest design to be more vibrant, cozy and more young and tredy which we really like the new look of it.

Trust me, you can just go empty stomach in this shop and flip through at this massive range of desert which I think offer more than 70 types of desert.

As I saw in the menu, the special tea section sure do caught my attention with its photo in it, then I ask the lady to recommend me what is special or what is her favourite then comes this ‘Only You Tea’ @ RM 4. When was served that time, we were very curious what is this bebola so special then the girl just smile and ask us wait patiently, few minutes later, the whole bebola like bloom with other flowery ingredient in it. . .Taste very refreshing, sweet and nice in aroma. . .

Went to meet one of my Pg tuition friends when I was in high school, whereby this person is so hard to come out for a dinner and yet not much time even to go for Pang Sai(go toilet shit) which is her work load is mountain high~ yet manage to kutuk her some and manage to curi her out for a while to dinner at KLCC which yet she claim her time is very precious..(vomit blood)The style of our conversation is always like cat and dog. Kutuk all nite long.
So choose this place to eat as I lazy go to all the way down for dinning. Sure have the Penang Concept and since both of us also from Penang, ‘nyek nyek nyek‘ time to go on commenting. Environment wise is not bad lahh~ cuz a bit high class Kopitiam style yet in KLCC so….cannot complain.

This is the are where they prepare the drinks and my friend peek a bit..’ask her so kaypo ah..wanna go in do iiiziit?’

This is what I had ordered. ‘Curry Mee. One of my favourite in this shop. Well, of course they have to serve halal its because have to be a unity shop…so there are some spare part missing. Still of course the base soup is quite sweet and taste some of the water paip taste but then after I ………
hantam 1 big spoon of the chili inside my bowl, it definitely taste very nice. Spicy yet delicious. I just finish the whole bowl like a small kid or maybe I was hungry tat day as I wait for her till my stomach turn belly(direct translation from hokkien)..The curry cost RM9.80.

Then my friend ordered, ‘Prawn Mee which in Penang we called it Hokkien mee, different from pg totally. This I never really like the taste of it and she also like shake head. Not really good then blame me for bringing her to eat this place. Cis~ RM9.80 for this bowl.
Sit and chat and chat then suddenly she tell me that she crave for Rojak and lagi teruk 1 is she said she wanna have a few nia..cuz fattening..*slap on my forehead. Although the Rojak is not as nice as what we had in penang but cannot compare. So so onli la the the worst 1 is it cost RM7.50. suck blood as what we said and kutuk..lol..

Originally wanted to try another restaurant, when we were there, the restaurant menu was very little so change of plan, in was raining and looking for cover area in KL then suddenly thought of Delicious at Jln Tun Razak as sometimes I pass by the area there are a few restaurant in the building that looks good.

In the restaurant, the concept is the same just that they have a abit of different concept which is dining area and a place to drink or chill. A very relaxing place to dine yet to look for a nice chat for the night with their soft background music this would be the right place.
The bar area that serve alcohol with very nice branches spread all over as the interior.
A cosy dining area with its soft and nice interior.
In the drinks order, there is ‘Pineapple Juice’ RM11.90 without ais as freshly blend from the machine so a bit sour but taste good.
Saw in the menu, look for something unique so I have ordered ‘Frosty Lyche Lime’. Taste very good when the ice is still in there, sweet yet a bit sour and the taste of lyche just taste great. If you left the whole frosty thing melt, it taste differently something like an apple that you had bite and that part turn brown.. RM9.90
This is the ‘Salmon Anglhair. In this branch it doesnt taste good compare to my very first time visit in Bangsar Village. Would say that the food there have QC but not in this branch. Our first bite on it was salty, then 2nd and 3rd bite getting more salty I have requested to change back the same portion but the worst thing is, the chef took the dish and recook it and by pressing another lime in it. So the whole taste of the dish is not the taste anymore. We were very DISAPPOINTED on what they have done. With such a classy area but what they did was to squeeze a lime in the dish. SHIT~ I would say their action was very low class. RM26.90
This is my order of ‘Duck Red Curry’. Looks plain and simple, and the curry taste alright, not to the extraodirany that I would say wah..veli good. Again, Bangsar branch still taste much better than this branch. Compare to that salmon dish, mine taste much better. The curry is mild, yet sweet cuz got lyche in there. Goes along very well to eat it with rice. The duck meat has a very strong smell and taste of the duck. For those who do not like the smell of it, would not recommend this dish in this branch. RM 19.90 for this.
After our meal, we head to the drinking area to have our desert and to have a nice talk. As it was raining very heavy that day, and the shot was taken by my friend with so coincidence that the lightning struck and she manage to capture the light behind it. Though of it is cool to post it up. The drinking area have a mini jazz area as I was told by my friend they played jazz during the weekend. Something to look forward on the weekend.
A very cozy area to sit, chill and talk with friends with drinking just perfect. Can just cam whore here all night long.
Next of course were already disappointed with the main course we had so we decided to at least have a proper desert so the Tiramisu was not really nice as I tried last time so chose something new. ‘Bread Butter Pudding’ was recommended by one of the staff. When it got served, the impression we had on the thing was like ‘oh,no …..seems like beh ki(doesnt taste good)’ then the very first thing I took my fork and try the 1st bite. I laughed then my friend she like stunned. She tried also..she shook her head. Lol… It is tasteless..Total tasteless. The bread is very soft and warm but the bread is tasteless, the topping seems like milk but tasteless and hopeless to finish the whole thing.
This is how we look after continue eating a few bites after. It is just so hard to swallow.
Tadaa… this is the aftermath that I have done as the desert totally hopeless. Trying to find which part to hunt for sweetness. Mission failed. No part or None. This thing cost RM10.90 which is totally not worth it.
Overall the food is bad but I cannot denied that one of the lady staff there gave us a very good service and I must thank you again for that. If you are looking for a place to hang out not for the food and desert, here would actually be a nice place as not many people are there.
