Sometimes, we are not to sure where to eat and I often go to the few places and friends often ask me, where to eat in Kepong. My only few answer is the usual. Tang Jia Roast is one of my favourite Wan Tan Mee place in Kepong. They used to be at just around the corner before MRT begins construction and they have move to a proper shop since 3 years ago.

where to eat in kepongThis is one of my regular spot on weekend as I often come here for their Char Siew Wan Tan Mee as I find that their portion is quite generous compare to many other places with its price tag. The place is also comfortable as they have its own mini air condition

wan tan mee kepong

This is my usual set as Wan Tan Mee dry comes in springy, top with some pork lard and the sides you can pick what you like. Wan Tan/ Char Siew/ Siew Yuk/ Chicken or all mix also can.

best wan tan mee in klPrice starts from RM 6.90 onwards.

char siew in klChar Siew is simple and direct. I like its caramelize flavour and the sauce is just nice. Chicken Rice actually is equally good too.  I always  order wan tan mee in kl

Here you go on the size of the wan tan. nice mouth bite, soft skin. Perfecto for a simple weekend lunch. One of a wan tan mee place in Kepong for you.

dry chili

Not to miss out their chili. Both their Chicken rice chili and dry chili , I am loving it.

There is some left over from my over bought of roast pork previous day. Then not sure what to do and craving for Kimchi Fried Rice (previous recipe here). then suddenly have they thought why not add in. So I turn it into Roast Pork Kimchi Fried Rice. Recipe as below:

egg

Ingredients:

120g SPAM
20 g Garlic
70 g onion
350g kimchi (2-3 weeks old prefer)
Others:

1 tbl spoon sesame oil
1 tbl spoon soy sauce

kimchi

This round I enhance with more ingredient, like kimchi then final, add in 150gram of roast pork. Do a quick stir fry when your rice is about ready.

kimchi fried rice

Make sure the colour of your roast pork turn to kimchi colour then it is then more than ready to take up. This shows that the kimchi taste had gone into the pork.

Of course need to top up with sunny side up!

There are many pork lovers out there when it comes to food. Just simple type any best pork food related you can see lots of searches come out and with much talk about since quite  a few months back, finally we make an effort to drop by on this much talk about among many blogger friends of mine on this caramelize Toast & Roast Char siew. .

char siew (1)

A place that is well hidden around the neighborhood yet it is very easily to be located as you enter the main road in SS2 Mall then just drive till the end you will see a few shop houses at the end which is a dead road.

char siew (2)

With so many strips of char siew hanging, these are all the temptations that keep calling our name.. . .:p

char siew (3)

char siew (4)

pricing wise on the food is on the average side a bit more than kopitiam but on their specialist on char siew I guess its a good price. . .

char siew (5)

a more clean version of kopitiam that you can expect.

char siew (6)

Here is the char siew as we ordered medium @ RM16

char siew (7)

Look at how well the char siew is coated, as my fave is always ‘pun fei sau’. For the first time I see a Char Siew that roast till so nice, as there are no burnt ends on it and so shinny and moist skin that s very caramelize . This Char Siew definitely stand above our expectation, the meat is soft and the taste just blend in so well, with a bit of sweet taste at the end. I sure do not mind to have the whole medium portion by myself.

char siew (8)

As the Roast Pork do not tempt me that much but my colleague wanted to try so we ordered a small portion. @ RM 4 if not mistaken. a finely cut slice of roast pork. As a comment, don bother to order. . .

char siew (9)

Ordered their Roast Chicken and turns out to be not bad. .

char siew (10)

as many people also talk about their Hakka Mee and one thing that first catch my eyes is the noodle is showered with lots of fried pork lard. Find that the noodle is a bit dry and tasted normal and I mee pork more (Tang Pin Kitchen ss2).

char siew (11)

I cannot remember what is this already as it is the special for the day. The gravy Green Curry is too spicy that over power the taste of the meat and it was serve cold. Not even warm.

If you do come to Roast & Toast, the only thing I would recommend to order is just the Char Siew and if you would want to have noodle to go along, the Hakka Noodle is not bad lah.. If not just Char Siew alone is good enough and here is my another favourite Char SIew Stall which located at Sea PArk (Ah Khai Char Siew) which is another version of roasting. Cannot be compared.

Star of the night is this huge Pork Roll that had been specially hand pick by the chef to cook the best for us.

homecook (4)

Roast to perfection with the skin is so crunchy even with the knife cut thru it, it had a huge crack sound eccoed in the room and every one is just staring at it, just waiting to get a taste of it. Aroma of roast pork filled the room that makes every one even more hungry. The meat is so soft, juicy and the skin is crispy with a bit saltiness where it is suppose to be.

homecook (5)

For just 1 Pork Roll, it is enough to cater for 10-12 pax and depends how you cut it. It cost about RM160 per roll and have to book in advance.

homecook (1)

Next, we were showered with Lamb that had been slowly cook in the oven with her own special herbs that ensure the taste soak inside the meat.

Such a huge chunk of meat and after cutting it, the meat certainly does not look dry and the smell of the oven baked lamb meat when she cut it off smells wonderfull

This gravy is one of the secret to make the lamb even more nice.

homecook (9)

The homemade sauce is perfect that is not too thick, filled with a bit black pepper taste that pairs very well with the lamb.

This is my great dinner for the night with juicy lamb and soft meat pork  . . .
