Fancy for Satay? Just got to know that there is another branch of famous Kajang sate in Damansara Uptown, that according to my friend, this outlet or brand is one of their favourite, so this round they tag me along too. In Google, you type it out only I realise they actually have alot of branches every where. Guess this is another franchise chain or family own business? Sate Kajang HJ Samuri.

KJ (1)

KJ (2)

Nevertheless, it is always 80% full in this outlet and the amount of customer make the take away is amazing like 100 sticks, 200 sticks to ta pau away.

KJ (3)

This is how busy their sate grill er place will be that been preparing and cooking non stop.

KJ (4)

According to my friend, what makes them keep returning back is their secret chili ingredient which is quite spicy if you add more and just add the perfect kick in it. Peanut sauce is grind till ashes and add some peanut pieces still able to chew.

KJ (5)

Besides satay they also sell other ‘Goreng food’

KJ (6)

This is the pricing of Satay that usually a person would eat at least RM10 per pax averagely as 10 sticks of satay as your main meal would be just enough.

KJ (7)

Chicken would be the perfect order as grill and marinated to perfect as the meat is soft and nice. . .

KJ (8)

Then order extra with Kambing (Mutton), Daging (beef) and Perut (stomach) – I prefer the beef more tender and taste is pretty good!

KJ (9)

This is the stomach if not mistaken.

Overall, the taste is pretty good and they certainly have many returning customers like my friends, at times can dine 2-3 days in a row .. *faint

A famous sate stall that worth a try as the brand inself already famous in the community.

and Selamat Berbuka Puasa to all my Muslims friends.

After our quick dinner at Maha House as I mention we do have a few places to visit for the night, then next we head to Kampung Gajah, bandung to take a quick tour as this place already close for the day, as my friend recommend one of the places to visit during day time. Then I google up what this place have to offer as it is more like a friends and family gateway to enjoy their activities such as Flying Fox, Swing and Swing, and of course some restaurants. For more info can check out at their website : KampungGajah

daun

Just spend a few minutes to take a quick snapshot then we heading to Kampung Daun which is Highly Recommended by me if you do visit Bandung. A place that filled with very classic traditional filled with their culture ambiance that located right in the middle of the forest that had transform to a perfect dining area.

daun (1)

a big New Year Eve party was organised here and heard my friend said that it was a blast.

daun (2)

daun (3)

daun (4)

All the dining area are build in their very own unique way and it is really a huge place to walk around. You would like to dine in a very homey ‘Kampung Style’ dining, then can go for this kind of ambiance, that seated with a table of 6 and if you have more pax they have bigger place.

daun (5)

As we walked further up at this chill and fresh environment with the sound of waterfall flowing, we feel so fresh and relax. . .

daun (6)

Another type of dining area which is more casual that be seated on a ‘rattan’ style with pillow to support. . .

daun (7)

With the natural water flowing from the top of the hill, they had make it as the heart of the restaurant as hut or dining area can hear the sound of it. . .

daun (8)

Then we choose a hut that filled with mat paved on the wooden flank, then just lye on the cushion enjoy chatting and the ambiance of it, with the group of new friends. . . .

daun (11)

daun (9)

daun (10)

Ginger Cinnamon Tea. . . .

daun (12)

daun (13)

Then discover the top of the place, is this huge area that can host private functions too. . .

We are looking forward to return to Kampung Daun to try out their Indonesian Cuisine, as my friend said its not bad. .

After spending 1 hour at this cozy place, its time for us to get even more relax as we were brought to this Hot Natural Hot Spring at 11pm at night and the weather around the area is around 21degree which is just perfect to dip in this warm pool.

There are 2 pool which is 1 about room temperature and the other pool which is warmer.

Do bear in mind that to come to this place, will need to bring your own clothing, trunks or swimwear, and of course towel, if not to purchase there, its extremely expensive.

daun (15)

Soaking ourselves for quite a while and on the way heading back, they introduce us a place which is nice for satay especially the meat is ‘Rabbit’

daun (16)

daun (17)

daun (18)

daun (20)

I have always miss the satay in Indonesia as their peanut sauce is a bit different that do add in some of sweet soy sauce and their own spicy sauce. So sad that they do not served Rabbit meat that day as it was their signature if not mistaken, then ordered mutton and beef. It was good too, as it was just bbq as it is.

daun (21)

daun (22)

Their ‘Jagung Bakar’ is always better then our local Malaysia version as they do season it a while in milk + their own sauce then spread with heavy butter and leave it a while there till the butter soak into the corn till its very aromatic .

It was quite a tiring journey as in a short span from 7.30pm – 1.30am we went to 4 places and the journey in between is not near. . .

Penang as my hometown, neither did I know that, I actually made another great discovery that thanks to Lingzie that brought us here. I have always known that Kajang Satay which is very famous to folks in KL and Selangor but I just got to know that Ah Basri Satay is actually very famous with local crowd especially during lunch hours as its nearby the industrail zone.
In the afternoon you can expect this place to be full house even though its far away from town and nearby the industrail zone but nevertheless, its a great discovery.

Ah Basri

This shop actually is a combination of what the 1Malaysia concepts truely are. Behind this shop, there are actually a few partners which is Chinese, Malay and Indian owner that had come out with this concept which I am really proud of.

Ah Basri (2)

and yes, they are actually moving to a new premises which is bigger, new concept, air condition and brought the satay to another whole new level. You can expect more variety of satay choices and what is that, is for you to find out at their new branch as when the tauke told us about it, I was already hoping to try that new flavour.

Ah Basri (3)

Their special pit area of bbq’ing their satay.

Ah Basri (4)

Turning the satay under the warm charcoal that making sure it does not burn the meat and add on with their own special oil to bring up the taste and make the look of it, yummy, delicious and cant wait to salivate.

Ah Basri (5)

You can expect quite a huge range of satay compare to the normal hawker stall on the road or kopitiam. You can expect such meat as chicken, beef, lamb, deer, ostrich, horse, rabbit, duck, turkey, squid, prawn and fish. It also offers normal, black pepper and also tom yam flavoured satay.
and the price would be :Original Chicken RM1, Tomyam Chicken RM1.20, Black Pepper Chicken RM1.20, Original Beef RM1.40, Original Lamb RM1.40, Horse RM2.00, Squid RM2.50 Prawn – RM3.00 Cow Stomach RM1.50.

Ah Basri (7)

The most important of all in satay is the gravy of it, filled with nice thick peanut sauce that rich with flavour and add on some of their chili to bring up the taste of the gravy is truly aromatic to dip along with the satay.

Ah Basri (8)

Lamb & Tomyam Satay

Beef & Black Peppered Chicken Satay (borrow this pic from BBO)

Ah Basri (10)

Chicken Satay

Ah Basri (11)

Squid Satay

Ah Basri (12)

As the satay is very flavourful, and we requested to ask Sunny to be our very own embassador that he is enjoying every bite of his satay. My most prefered which is Lamb and Black Pepper Satay which had been marinated and bbq very perfectly, juicy and soft yet aromatic and besides that, do not look down on this place that the waiter and waitress here had been profesionally train and they have excelent customer service.
With them moving to their new location, I would not mind visit their new stall for the very next round and their satay stick is actually big in size.

I have always heard that Kajang stay is good and how good but thinking of travelling there is always stops me from going to that area till few weeks back, when we went for a food testing to get a tender for new Canteen operator and since we were half way there, we decided to go there for lunch then. SATAY!!!!! In this kind of situation, I surely support 200%. 🙂

When we reach there, I were told by my friends that the like this stall compare to another restaurant. Their taste and my taste is about the same so I will trust their selection.

After we place our order, an old uncle was standing start to grilled the satay. The stick looks so tempting as its well marinated, judging from the looks of it.
If you were eating satay, one of the thing that you must not miss or the extra kick to the satay which is the nut gravy. The add on a bit of the sambal in the gravy gives the extra kick in it and I just cannot stop eating by dipping with cucumber and onion. Then I request the guy to take another 3 small bowl for me.

Here comes my juicy satay as we order:

Chicken RM0.60, Beef RM0.70, Mutton RM0.90, Duck RM0.90

Chicken is soft and well marinated. The beef did not grill till very hard still taste good. Mutton is my big time favourite with its stink lamb taste with its marinated sauce with its seasoning. Recommended. Duck meat taste like lamb cross over with chicken but still thumbs up.

‘Hailam Noodle’ A bit salty but still edible.

‘Wat Tan Hor’ taste normal, nothing to boast about.
I cant remember this name but copare to those 2, I would prefer this one. A bit salty too but at least well fried.
For me, I can just hantam the satay for 20-30 sticks only withouth eating the nooodle. Sure gives me the satisfaction. I will sure be returning to enjoy the satayz and Jonathan told me that the ‘Fish Satay’ is the best choice among those all(surely I will be ordering next round). Even though travelling quite a distance, but paid off.
