Clumsy person like a few of my friends, I find that their phone casing OtterBox are well protected. Some are even willing to spend bout RM350 for one casing. Reason, they often find their phone end up on the floor. That is why. With my latest review on Samsung Galaxy S4 (click here) we certainly need a good case to protect on the phone as I find the phone is too light.

There is this brand OtterBox which is the no.1 selling case for smartphones in the U.S had recently launch their latest product line of protective case for Galaxy S4.

otter (1)

I got one sample on my hand as this is the Defender series, as this brand comes with another 2 more series which is Commuter and Reflex.

Defender series which will be very good for people who are careless cuz it offer double layer protection also known it is rugged. A full protection for random accidents by absorbing outer layer, solid plastic inner shell to protect on the ground vibration.

otter (2)

Here it is. . .Comes in a box and a clip along with 2 case.

otter (3)

Have the back clip that clip on our belt area. ..

otter (4)

This is what I mean, multi layered with inner plastic case to protect from vibration and outer layer of rubber to absorb shock and bump. Good thing about this casing comes with a layer of screen protector.

otter (5)

This is how it looks like after putting into my S4 unit. It gives me more firm grip with more secure feeling as the rubber gives the grip.

otter (6)

Most of the utilities charging area are well covered with a layer of rubber fitting.

otter (7)

As you can see, the cover is slightly bigger and gives full protection as the cover is about .35cm thicker from the surface of the phone as to maximize its protection.

Currently the Defender series is selling at SGD 69.

For more info, please log into their website Otterbox.asia to purchase, also available in 85 stores nationwide.

Here is a video for you to understand more about the case.

As early on Friday morning, that one of my best friend suddenly ccalled me during my meeting and just laugh his ass of without saying anything, and keep laughing non stop till I ask him ‘OOIIII…what happen la? Ki siau ahhh (went crazy iziit) ???!!! Then only he cool down.. Bok, you are famous liau!!! saw you in a forum and soo many people commenting on you~ I stunned and I was like don play la (cuz he was know as a joker and prankster). Then if you don believe, I ask the other guy to tag you..I said okok..wait for your good news. . .

So when another friend tag me in FB then I got shock !! oi.. that’s me in the picture and why got number eh? ask to buy toto number ah? Then called back my friend and ask him what is the meaning of this and he told me its related to MCA. I got blurrr again. . .

Well, my dear friends, this is memang me in the picture and for the past 2 days, the picture had been circulated wide enough to reach my friends that as far from Aus, some called me up , some left me in FB msg with different kind of comment. . .:)

One thing I am impress is that, after the news got announce 2 days ago, and online media had manage to get one of my pic in the blog to created and edit, then they choose the pic that I so ngam ngam got take some pictures with them and put in my blog and one of them picture got from my blog (Tiger Crystal Beer Lauching – Click here) and edit as below:

Remark: I have got noting to do with all this, MCA thingy, just so happen to be a victim in the topic.

To make the thing short and I don know how to read mandarin, by my understanding so far is that, MCA youth is recruiting youth members into their parties and apparently, this 4 young girls are recruited with to show that, in the party got young and old mixture as part of gaining confidence back from the citizen. Well, many reason that MCA is trying to come up with many comments too.

I doubt that girl in both the columm are not the same or maybe my eyesight got problem, anyway, I have no idea.. as that is what being compared . . .

A place that I used to come often when I was a kid with my grandparents, that I cant event remember when was the last time I been here. At this field at the end of the corner, there is one place that host many food. One of the reason, most people are here during lunch to tea time is for Lok Lok. This food court that have 2 different sessions that on the left side as where you see now is selling lok lok, char koey teow, and a few other stuff and during night, you will see another different version at CKLam’s Blog. Padang Brown(click here)

Padang Kota Lama (1)

This place is no longer famous to only local crowds, whereby now it had attracted alot of people from other states and for so many havent been here, decided to take my KL friends to visit this place. I am quite surprise that its super pack that so many people are hunting for tables. Of course when you are talking about, holiday in Penang, most of the hawker center will be packed with people.

Padang Kota Lama (2)

Types of lok lok that you can choose from, frozen food, to fresh meats and of course this were not only the option as the full option can filled up the whole table, as we ask the auntie remove those that we are not interested, and when we wanted, we can just head to their stalls and grab back to our table.

Padang Kota Lama (3)

In this area, there are about 3-6 lok lok stalls and I guess their difference is their satay sauce. Usually I mix all in, as the smaller bowl is to add in more spicy, that I can even sweat after having a few sticks.

Of course one of the reason that many people are here is that, Padang Brown Lok Lok are consider one of the cheapest rate, whereby my KL friends also got shock on their pricing.

Padang Kota Lama (4)

Next I was hunting for other food beside Lok Lok then I saw this stall located at the very far corner are packed with people, is this little Yong Tau Fu stall. Of course when you mention that Yong Tau Fu, mostly will relate back to Ampang, but Penang version of Yong Tau Fu is very much different compare to the KL version.

Padang Kota Lama (5)

So I decide to join the crowd and wanted to test how nice is this stall since its packed with elderly also, and I guess its something healthy? :p Price is very reasonable as its stated up in the board.

Padang Kota Lama (6)

and I can tell you that, all those ‘kiasu’ uncle and auntie is like rushing in clipping the choices of food they want, whereby its like a closing down sale!

Padang Kota Lama (7)

So you queue up in one end, take a bowl and chopsticks, then with all the choices available on the table like pig intestine, pork ball, taiwan sausages, homemade fish ball, bean curd, that many more to offer, then you just pass your bowl to the owner and let him cut.

Padang Kota Lama (8)

After 25 minutes in the queue, finally, this is my super big bowl of Yong Tau Fu filled with lots of ingredient, that I bring over to the table, the rest of the 4 of them their jaw dropped and ask me why so big bowl! Cuz I find it cheap and only cost me RM17 for this whole bowl.

Once I put down, they whole bowl starting to get drained out, the soup taste so good and sweet, that they keep drinking on the soup till the last drop and, homemade fish ball is superb, bouncy and soft, their own homemade items, I guess its a must take item that all make it very nice!

No wonder the queue is so long as this is one of a nice Yong Tau Fu stall that I have miss those kind of taste~

Its a highly Recommended stall if you do drop by at this area!

Continuation of my Road Trip to Hatyai , after overnight at Penang for a night for some leisure and food hunting, and next after at the boarder getting stamping and head to a very nice restaurant introduce by Karen and quite well know to a lot of Malaysians too which is a restaurant by the lake side (click here).

IMG_7198

This is the kind of queue that you can expect at the boarder but we were there early and a day before, therefore it is not a hassel. Took us about 35mins to get through.

IMG_7200

IMG_7201

The whole gang sot sot, as early morning already went to the duty free area and hantam beer already as cannot deny that the beer is very cheap with a large can of Heineken for around RM7 if not mistaken and each of them already had 2 cans each.

IMG_7299

After lunching, we drive up further north into the city of Songkla to check into our hotel. It took us about 35 minutes drive to reach. With no choice to choose from the list as this trip was a pretty last minute decision, the only hotel left that nearby the city was Hotel Daiichi and the rest in the city center are all fully booked as mostly a lot people from far and local came for this festival.

IMG_7300

When we went into the room, I was so shock of the room condition as if the floor had not vacumm for the past 5 tenants as I can see nuts, and it is very dusty, with my barefoot step onto the carpet, this is the first time I feel gross. With charges of RM175 for this festive season, I would say we have no choice but to bare with it for these two nights. Only one phrase would never return back to this hotel again.

IMG_7302

One of the most famous transportation in Hatyai or Thailand is this mini car, which they called it ‘Tut Tut’ with a charges of 20baht (= RM 2) per trip regarding on the distance within city area, it is one of the most convenience transport that they have as its everywhere and every corner.

IMG_7303

We were exhausted from driving, as for the first thing to do when we reach in Hatyai is to do massage first. They offer one of the cheapest massage.

IMG_7308

IMG_7315

‘Siam Traditional Massage’ was one of the place introduce by Karen. If you compare the rates in Malaysia, your jaw will drop not only the time frame but with the RATES! RM24 for 2 hours, can you IMAGINE that… for the whole 2 hours for only RM24 as I could not believe it myself. In Malaysia it can be easily RM 80 – RM100.

While we are waiting this is what we do. . .

IMG_7311

Madammm . . . and hanndsoommmeeee.. . . . .

IMG_7312

If you do need any masseur we do have important with very good energy and inner power which is ‘Sui Mak Mak’ that you can choose from. All the local massuer are not available as they are fully book. We have Karencharak, Kenji Pom Pom, Lingnon and Bokrachak.

IMG_7317

This was not the best massage that I have gone but no complain with the rates, would go to another parlor to try out. After the little nap and laughter during the massage, we are now fully charged and going to raid the city.

IMG_7318

This is one of the main street that hosting this festival. If you feel you are too dry, then stop by.

IMG_7320

Most of the stalls are selling water gun as I have not got mine yet. Still looking for better rates and bargain as what I heard from my friends, they can go as high as RM80 per gun during the actual day, as it was eve of the day, the guns still sell around RM30 for 1.5L tank.

IMG_7322

Asking the rates but the gun colour and shape did not interest me. Till now, only me and Jon have not get the gun yet.

IMG_7323

walked towards one of the famous landmark in Hatyai is Lee Garden Hotel which is the complete area with food, and shopping paradise.

IMG_7325

behind me is all the street food and street shopping that you can get a t-shirt as cheap as RM5.

IMG_7328

All of us were very hungry as it is around 4pm after the massage and hit on the streets as Hatyai there are a few street food you must not miss .. . . . .

IMG_7327

which is big prawns selling for 100-200 baht depends on the size.

IMG_7330

Young coconut. . 10 baht for one.

IMG_7332

And three of them are on casting to host for upcoming makan makan channel that introducing what is nice as we going to shoot for fun ourselves. 3 of them pass!

IMG_7336

what is next?

Street Shopping. . . .

IMG_7341

Since when I was a kid that my parents brought me over to Hatyai for the very first time, I was so amaze with the air gun here and hoping with all my hear that I can actually own a few for my own collection and the price is very cheap, RM45 jus for one piece.

IMG_7337

But one of the good thing is that sometimes preventing from people owning one would be a good cause for example case like this, one would be eating too much that cause him to suicide cuz cannot support the input of the other half.

IMG_7339

This is the area where you need some drink and prepare used all your bargaining power to buy cheap stuff.

IMG_7355

Next as this is one of the market nearby Lee garden which is about 10 minutes walk (about 3 blocks away)

IMG_7353

In this area, it is more compact and easy for you to look for the food and stuff you wanted to buy but the alley is just ngam ngam 2 person walkway.

IMG_7356

After everyone been happy shopping, and stomach started to play drum, we went for another street food hunting again next to the market and wanted to go for restaurant which is highly recommended by Jonathan( which I will blog later).

IMG_7357

‘Fried Chicken’ @ 15 Baht

IMG_7360

I don know what is this, but it looks like Taiwan sausages.

IMG_7362

unique in taste but of course do not mind to try it out. 10 baht

IMG_7364

Next is we head for the fried pork bacon. A pack of full small pastic size only15 baht. Bite till your jaw got numb.

IMG_7363

IMG_7365

One of the best street food that you must not ever miss is the ‘Mango Sticky Rice’ 20 baht per pack with one full mango inserted in it.

IMG_7366

this stall has unique sticky rice and its very flavourful.

IMG_7369

2 minutes walk from that stall we saw this kuih stall with so many people then we also stop by to look at it. My gawd!

IMG_7368

So many variety of it and all also look tempting. Then we bought every thing one piece as the owner previously reluctant to sell us in that order as he sold a packet of 3 pieces in it. 10 baht per pack.

IMG_7372

If you do eat ‘Chai Kuih and Bangkuang Kuih’ in KL or Malaysia, then this is the Thai Version.

IMG_7370

They pan fried it till both side of the skin are cripsy and the season ingredient in it are pretty similar.

IMG_7371

but it taste awesome that we regret did not buy more.

The street food above are along the road from Thanon Supasamrangsan till junction of Thanon Pracharak.

Map

IMG_7399

The night version of the ‘Tut tut’ is very different. This one that we took is lighted with blue neon and one of their favorite song that would blast away is Vengaboys – Boom boom boom. . . if you still remember this song.

IMG_7404

IMG_7405

Went back to hotel to drop all our heavy load of shopping bags and round back to Lee Garden there to see how their night life is.

IMG_7406

With the army team lead by fierce and not so human Karen to the war.

IMG_7411

and without weapon we could not go for war and here finally I saw the gun that I like with white and blue colour.

IMG_7409

Buy –> store –>> load with water and prepare to go war!

IMG_7412

With this very nice guy he is selling us each gun for 250 bhat which is a good bargain so Jon bought one too.

IMG_7413

the very yeng seller that constantly shoot by kids.

IMG_7414

This is the eve of the water festival and every one is already at war! We went back to HQ (hotel room) to take the rest of the gun and declare war with these people. . . . !!!!!

Food in Hatyai is very cheap cost from 50-500 bhat! with our currency which is RM1 – 10 Bhat
How we go for war? look out for next post!

I did heard about at Bukit Mertajam there is one famous Char Koay Toew stall located along a road side. Then went over to find my friend she do not really know the place so ended up in this stall which is she familiar with. It was quite late though around 1.30am looking for my supper over the mainland..hehehe

I do not know what is the name of the stall call but then there is a Chinese name I also do not know how to interpret.

The funny thing is that when I went to took the picture of what they were doing, both of them were actually trying their best to pose for me. This is how they ended up look like.

The place was rather empty because of the time.

When the plate was serve, I was quite shock that this is actually my very first time I seen a ‘Char Koey Teow’ add egg is the bulls eye type instead of fried it along. The taste is so so, nothing to boast a bout yet it is a bit oily yet cannot duck egg been fried doesnt taste much diff compare with normal egg.

Today was a special day, suddenly a person treat us to eat. So happily we search for a nice Vegetarian restaurant to eat. While browsing through, then my friend was looking through at a list of restaurant and ask me to check with her and suddenly I saw this name, Kechana which I remember a few blogger had review on this place before. So quickly check it out and yes, it was the place that they have review before, so we have make our decision to go there. Kekek

Review the catch, was today, our Director suddenly said want to treat us for lunch, so we were a bit shock and surprise but what the heck just go la.

After reach and park that place, while walking there and near towards the entrance as I walked quite fast then I overheard this, ‘Wah…!!! This place gonna cost me how much?’ got replied by, not that expensive only la. Reasonable.

After reach and park that place, while walking there and near towards the entrance as I walked quite fast then I overheard this, ‘Wah…!!! This place gonna cost me how much?’ got replied by, not that expensive only la. Reasonable.

Sorry that there is no picture of this place and the food its because my director is there. So better skip this action and keep a low profile.

I like the place and interior, a very comfortable place to dine for a dinner and I can say, it’s the most classy place I have ever been for a Vegetarian Restaurant. Once reach lunch time, the crowd start to flock in, filled in the place quite fasts.

While looking at the menu, they do offer daily set lunch with a very reasonable price. Then we choose the Wednesday Set Menu cost RM119++ if I am not mistaken.

It served with ‘Goose Meat’, oh~ one of my favourite that I would not miss during this season. So far this is the best I have eaten. Well fried and dry up which you eat its not juicy(with oil) yet covers with ‘fu chuk’ taste as it is suppose to be. A lil crispy on the skin which is just nice.

‘Toufu Mince Meat’ is a great companion with a bowl of rice, with a lil spicy as the gravy base and the dish is well fried.

‘Sweet and Sour Pork’ which we enjoy it a lot, as it taste as good as eating the real one. A bit solid and chewy and wasn’t too sweet and sour. Just the right taste level.

‘Butter Mushroom’ is the best compare to the rest. It taste like fried squid on the first bite. A well prepared soft fried on the mushroom yet preserving the taste of it, covers with a very fragrance butter dressing on top of it. Highly Recommended.

‘Vegetable’ was something pretty normal, nothing much to brag about.

We did order extra ‘Mutton Curry’ as recommended by the waiter and its consider one of their signature dish. I would say again, one of the best too during my Vegetable hunting so far. Mild, with soft juicy tender mutton look and taste alike. A great dish for meal opener.

As I feel the body heat pilling inside me, so I decided to order take away ‘Gui Ling Gao’ for tea and guest what. It is the most expensive thing that I have ever come across. RM7.50 for a size of baby’s palm size which you can finish it in one mouth or bite. Nothing special too.

The total bill cost RM180. After a few days of eating, this would be one of the restaurant that I would recommended but with the price of course slightly higher but with the quality they are serving, I do not mind as its hard to find nice vegetarian dish or restaurant.
