Dai Ban Noodle is another new hidden joint that we recently discover, that this outlet had been operating for quite a while already. The only thing is I seldom drive pass the back area which is the Wondermilk stretch till friend mention that why not give it a try.

Food selection here is pretty interesting as the shop name noodles gave me the impression that they going to serve lots of types of noodle but its a good mixture, find that their Pan mee would be their signature.

dai ban (7)

We did quite order a number of drinks that night, with many using fresh ingredient especially passion fruit series that caught my attention with lemon and asam.

dai ban (8)

Dry chili with shrimp here is good as we just ate it like that and very aromatic to go along with noodle and not spicy. Next to it is sambal here is definately will give you extra kick as its homemade and spicy enough to make you sweat

dai ban (9)

We order some starter to start with. As this was serve, Salted Egg Squid smells very good with the trail of salted egg left along and no doubht that it taste as good as it smells. Cripsy with golden brown crust outside that fried to perfection. RM 11.90

dai ban (14)

Crunchy Prawn Roll @ RM7.90

dai ban (15)

Smoked Duck is price @ RM 8.90 and I would say its cheap. At that kind of price it give me doubht on the quality of it and the dish itself proves me wrong. The taste of smoked is strong, just the way I like it. Recommended

dai ban (10)

Dai Ban Pork Burger, find that the patty is a bit peppery as no doubt its thick and juicy top with cheese and dark charcoal bun, accompanied by the crispy golden wedges on the side. Not the best I have come across as it can be further improve on the taste. @ RM 15.90

dai ban (11)

dai ban (12)

Traditional Handmade Dai Ban Mee is one of the signature in the outlet for the handpeel series. @ RM 6.50

dai ban (13)

dai ban (16)

This is one of the dish that capture my attention instantly when I was browsing thru Claypot Pumpkin & Pork Rib Congee @ RM10.90. Serve pippin hot in claypot with golden yellow texture and I must say this is one of the winner in the outlet. Very soft and smooth congee, with little sweet end aromatic and pork ribs pairs well. – Recommended

dai ban (17)

One of the highly recommended by me would be Lemon Grass Pork Chop with Fried Rice @ RM 12.90. Pork chop cook to perfection that its not too hard yet season to fragrant and soft and they are quite generous with it as the pork chop is pretty huge. Fried rice pairs well with it. I must say its one of the simple dish I have come across.

It has been a long long time since I last came back here and hunt for Chuan Chiew Bak Kut Teh in this area. Used to be one of my hang out spots when I was studying, till I have a few disappointed bak kut teh hunting around my housing area till have to come back here for a decent one.

bkt ss14 (1)

SS14 is already quite well know with a street filled with Bak Kut Teh with many offerings. Every shop have their very own customer base and down till which stall you prefer. As too many years back and little did I remember which one was the best and start off with 2nd outlet on the street which is Chuan Chiew.

bkt ss14 (2)

Early dinner it is as the uncle already busy preparing all his ingredient and cutting it off for waiting customer.

bkt ss14 (3)

To dine Bak Kut Teh of course the ambiance must be in Kopitiam Style ..

bkt ss14 (4)

2 types of soup base, one which is all the ingredient being boil along and another one is to mix it around.

bkt ss14 (5)

After mixture or order, and putting it into claypot, its left on this stove to boil till pippin hot.

bkt ss14 (6)

I quite like the Dry Bak Kut Teh here as its cook along with dry shrimp, taste of squid that make the slight saltiness and thick soy sauce to make it thick, along with chili padi to make it slightly spicy. Just perfect.

bkt ss14 (7)

My pippin hot claypot bak kut teh ..

bkt ss14 (8)

I have a mixture of meat, variety of parts, meat is not too tough yet cook till soft as i prefer. The sad part is always remember to order your needle mushroom to be separated if not the taste of it will over power the taste of the soup. As I order another portion without it. Soup base here is mild not so herbal which most of the locals prefer. Soup definitely can be refillable. I prefer mine to be strong in herbal taste but this is good enough to satisfy.

bkt ss14 (9)

Overall came up to RM61.20 for soup with portion of 4 and dry bak kut teh with 2 portion and 3 of us just whack it.

Although I don really come to Desa Park City, it certainly is one of a nice neighborhood place to chill in. Everything seems so calm and peaceful, with people jogging around, playing tai chi, taking their dogs for a stroll and just feel nice to be here. – Soi Thai Restaurant

[UPdate – NO Longer in Operation]

Not only that, as Desa Park City also have a little eatery place that smack right in the middle of the field and host quite a number of restaurant. One of the restaurant that I previously went that serve pretty nice food is a Italian restaurant right at the corner. Now, dropping by here again is a new Thai restaurant that open its door since last year October and heard quite good feedback on it.

soi thai (1)

Soi Thai Restaurant its like a hidden gem in this neighborhood that serve nice authentic Thai Food. I got lost when I first look for this restaurant as it always appears in my mind that all restaurant are only on ground floor, as this restaurant is located on the first floor.

soi thai (2)

Soi Thai offer very pleasent dining experience with simple interior and their staff is very helpful

soi thai (8)

Pandan Leaf and Lemon Grass Drink, Thai Ice Tea,

soi thai (13)

Started off with usual Thai dining with kerabu, Green Papaya Salad with Dried Shrimp and Peanuts. I just love the taste of it, sourish which is good for stomach before heading to main course and its quite spicy with little chili padi being  mix along, and a bit of salty cuttle fish just blend the taste well.

soi thai (12)

Soi Thai Combo

This is a combination of pandan chicken, fish cake, thai wantan and croquette platter.

soi thai (17)

One thing to hunt for in this plate is the Pandan chicken. Well marinated and fried to perfection as the meat is ginger pale yellowish with a bit hard crust on the edge and its soft yet aromatic.

soi thai (9)

We ended up order another Thai Style Otak-otak as it is so good that each of us took 2. Steam to its softness like near eating jelly to my likings, and some prefer it to be harden abit. For me, I am okay with either version.

soi thai (10)

Thai Green Curry Chicken pairs well with rice.

soi thai (11)

Steamed Siakap with Lime and Chili Sauce sourish with lime base and we drank it like soup. Spicy yet its good till my tears nearly drip.

soi thai (14)

Something that you must not miss is their Signature Fire Pot with Seafood Tom Yam (4 to 5 persons). By the smells of it already thrill us to drink in asap with its sourish spicy smell that poke thru our nose is something that we can wait to put our hands on. To our delight, the taste is as good as what we smell. Spicy yet the soup is filled with seafood taste and sourish after taste. Just a perfect pot of Tomyam. – REcommended~

soi thai (15)

This is something worth to recommend Thai Red Curry Roasted Duck mild in curry taste, with duck meat is quite soft.

soi thai (16)

According to my friend, this is a very rare receipi that not many restaurant in Klang Valley able to cook this dish – Choo Chee Deep Fried Fish, is actually one of a signature dish in the restaurant. Deep fried fish shower with mild spicy flavor and skin is crispy with soft meat filling. – REcommended

soi thai (18)

Pineapple Fried Rice

soi thai (19)

Thai Style Kicap prawns

soi thai (20)

One of my favourite dish that I would not miss to try out is Authentic Pad Thai. Turns out to be good as the glass noodle is thin and small which it is suppose to be and fried with ‘wok hei’ covered with omelet. Mix all up is exactly the taste I have in Bangkok.  Just that Malaysia version do not add sugar. Recommended

soi thai (21)

soi thai (22)

Coconut and lemongrass jelly with passion fruit

At the end of the meal, since we are few days ahead and decided to celebrate Ken’s Bday along. 😀

Cannot deny that, this Thai restaurant is quite good around the neigbourhood and its worth to try as we are quite surpise with the taste that they can offer. Certainly will come back again, along if you ask me where to hunt for nice Thai food, this restaurant will falls into one of my recommendation list. 🙂

I guess recently I really eat a lot when I am not in KL, went back to Penang for a short trip to cover one event, then meet a few of my friends that I didn’t manage to meet during Chinese New Year and one of my best friend brought me to this place which I do love Yam Rice at Bukit Mertajam and which is one of her favorite stalls. I never came this far for this only in Chai Leng Park, Butterworth (click here on previous post).

This place is not that hard to find as you need to be very aware which turning to turn in, as the alley to tunr in here is very small . . .

All pork spare parts are available and see which part you like and ask them to boil for you into this ‘kiam chai’ soup.

More like a kopitiam style and its not very hot as they have  a few big fan on the wall to keep us cool . . .

To come till so far, yam rice is a must order as they rice is a bit dry as it needs to be and a few chunks of yam are in the rice, flavorful with a bit of dry shrimp taste too. The best is the soup, quite sour with the ‘kiam chai’ as it needs to be and the soup is not that clear and with sweet taste of all my favorite pork spare parts.

There are a few other mini side dish to order, my friend ask me to try on their ‘Tu Kar Chor’ which I find it nothing to shout about.

A must order is only the Yam Rice and mixture of pork spare parts into the soup.

If I do go back to Bukit Mertajam, it will be one of the stop I will be stopping by. Recommended

Last week, Jonathan came back and tell us, that he went to a shop in Balakong that serve good steam fish and wanted to bring us there, so it was weekdays on lunch time, suddenly do not have the mood to eat on the canteen, all of us just agree to eat out. It was 15 minutes drive from Bukit Jalil to Batu 11, Cheras. Lan Jie Stim Fish When we reach there, it was hard to find parking space as it was lunch time and a mini shop lot area.

Picture on this post will be abit off as I forgot to bring my camera on that day and use Canon G7 to take on it.

Lan Jie

Lan Jie (2)

We were there early and still alot of tables to choose from.

Lan Jie (3)

This is my favorite vegetable, which is stir fried with fermented bean curd, is just nice. Not too salty yet it’s very aromatic with the flavor and goes along very well with rice, ended up ordering another plate.

Lan Jie (4)

‘Stir Fried Four Angle Beans with dry Shrimp’

Lan Jie (5)

‘Fried Wantan’ is very normal

Lan Jie (6)

As you see most of the table in the coffeeshop, each table will have the signature dish ‘Steam Tilapia Fish’ topple with shredded ginger, finely chop cili padi, dice garlic, soy sauce and chili bean paste. Perfectly steam and its very fresh, till eat along with ginger and dip in the soy sauce its very nice, those who prefer their fish to be spicy, can request it to be more spicy, as I love their version of more spicy compare to the normal one. The fish vary in sizes but is price from RM14-RM18.
