I always satisfy my craving for Ramen (Menya Musashi) inside Isetan as this new Japanese Eatery, area EAT PARADISE  was added since Isetan open its door in 1-Utama. I only always walk on the customer service side wing and never did I even bother to walk on the other side, till I read Bangsarbabe’s blog on this restaurant, Tonkatsu by Ma Maison, I was like why did I never walk to that area.

Before you walk into the outlet, they have a huge cabinate located at the near entrance that feature all their food and what you can expect when its been serve. I must say the portion is pretty huge.

tonkatsu (3)

This cozy little area hidden in the back corner of Eat Paradise house this Tonkatsu by Ma Maison. Ambiance is cozy and all staff are friendly.

Menu are pretty straight forward as they only serve Tonkatsu series and there are a few types for you to choose from. I am quite impress that they design the menu and order of food like steak. Small portion with about 180-250G of meat(your choice of selection chicken or Pork), or large with 250g and above if not mistaken. All order comes with rice, soup and unlimited refill of cabbage. For rice we get to choose White rice or Multi grain rice for healthy selection.

tonkatsu (8)

Before you dine, we are given a little ball of Oroshi (white reddish) with tamari dressing to eat before the main course. I read on the pamplets, the reason of this is to help refresh the palate and digestive process. Interesting.

tonkatsu (10)

On the table itself, they have special sauce, soy sauce, sesame, sesame dressing.

tonkatsu (11)

tonkatsu (12)

On the table there is a guide for you to show how should we eat our meal.

tonkatsu (9)

I ordered extra with Potato Salad @ RM 5.90 Something simple, not to heavy mayonnaise and its a perfect balance. Love it~

tonkatsu (13)

Here comes my Nameton Set @ RM 32.90

tonkatsu (14)

Its a mix with fried prawn, pork loin & Pork fillet. Both the prawn and pork were fried to perfection with crisp on outlayer and pork is still moist and juicy. Prawn is very fresh and pressing lemon brings extra taste in it.

tonkatsu (15)

Dipping with Mayonnaise is not one of the best option for pork but goes well with my prawn.

tonkatsu (16)

The miso soup is way too salty for my liking.

tonkatsu (26)

On my set also comes with Tonjiru, noodle is cook well, warm enough to finish the whole thing in seconds.

tonkatsu (17)

 My healthy multi grain rice.

tonkatsu (18)

On our tray we have a sauce tray that we follow on the instruction for our pork cullet dipping area.

tonkatsu (25)

with Salt, spicy sauce and original sauce.

tonkatsu (19)

Jumbo Rosu Katsu Set @ RM 28.90

tonkatsu (20)

Jumbo means you have your pork loin in bigger cutting.

tonkatsu (21)

and look at how the pork is being fried, will still pale red meat left behind  and with well balance of fats in between makes it yummy!

tonkatsu (22)

Love the wasabi mustard that pairs uniquely with the tonkatsu.

tonkatsu (23)

as all our set comes with finely cut vegetable and of course dressing for it is to enhance the flavour and I ended up refill twice. The sauce is perfectly good~

tonkatsu (24)

Since our sets doesnt have  Tonkatsu house special miso sauce I ordered it and try. I prefer their house special sauce. @ RM 2.

tonkatsu (27)

It looks pretty decent when it was serve and Anna end up cannot finish her jumbo Rosu which is about 300g of pork.

Tonkatsu is not bad but certainly one of the best I have come across so far. Price I think its slighlty expensive compare to the normal ones. Worth to give it a try.

A new outlet that had just pop out in the neigbourhood of Damansara Kim. Tug in a quiet area but it had start to gain its fame thru online platform. We got to know that KomPassion one of a NON-Halal Thai food, then it makes us even more eager to try it out. Then decided to head to that outlet and do menu attack again..

kompassion (1)

kompassion (2)

I love the interior of the outlet which is creatively set up, that is very simple yet look elegant, with zink atap roof, wooden platform chairs on the side with pillows and lights below  . .

kompassion (3)

Water paip s as the support frame of the lap. .

kompassion (4)

A group of us sitting there quietly browsing on the menu, then got slightly excited as they offer quite a range of food to choose from and many new items or signature to hunt for. Price are slightly more expensive . .

As usual, when we go in a group of food bloggers without any invites, the usual still we will be equip with our gear – lights and camera. As the food came, every one in the restaurant were very curious on what we are doing. Then only the owners drop by our table to introduce themselves as Desmond Wong and Tan Huat Jin (who are brothers-in-law). Even better to know that both of them actually  teamed up with Chef Nikom Uatthong to set up this restaurant.

How the name Kompassion came up is they know the chef have alot of passion in cooking hence by using his last 3 character of his name and combine with this and that is how the name being created.

kompassion (6)

We started off with starter. KomPassion Chicken Wings @ RM17.90 A very simple dish that well marinated with spices and I was saying, if order a beer would have been perfect.

kompassion (7)

Stir Fried Kai Lan @ RM15

kompassion (8)

First pork dish and we are all excited, as The Paneang Curry Pork Loin came first..

kompassion (9)

A bit dissapointed on the other end as for the price of RM 35 its a rather small portion. Curry is thick with a hint of basil taste after that. Its not bad to go along with rice.

kompassion (11)

If you prefer something light and more soupy gravy, Green Curry Crispy Pork is the one that you should go after. Filled with basil leave taste, slightly creamy curry gravy and the pork cook along can still taste the crisp of the [email protected] RM35

kompassion (10)

Tom Yum Fried Rice with Grilled SeafoodRM18.90 , is cook in a healthy way with multi-grain brown rice is used and the serving came with grilled squid rings, a medium-sized prawn, crabsticks and salmon fillet. At the price I find this is very reasonable and rice being fried to fragrant and the sauce pairs very well, with seafood is fresh.

kompassion (15)

If you travel to Thai often, then many of us would not miss pork leg rice, as its the same in Kompassion Pork Leg Rice, when we saw this in the menu, its a must order. Pork meat is soft and juicy with gravy and the chili sauce that pair along is mild spicy and sourish end taste.  @ RM25.90

kompassion (13)

One of my favorite which is under KomPassion Special, we ordered the Double Cooked Pork Belly and Soft Shell Crabs with Cucumber Salad @ RM65. The pork skin is awesome, that its crispy on every bite and the meat is tender. Unami sauce that shower into it that makes the taste even better. Soft Shell crab on the other end fried to perfection till crisp and top with ebiko to make it even more bitefull feeling. – Recommended!

kompassion (14)

Tom Yum Fish @ RM45 with a spicy level of 2 (choose from 1-3, 3 being the spiciest). For those who cant really like spicy then would advise to go for level one. As the spiciness doesnt kicks in immediately, will suddenly shot up and I down a glass of water instantly. Its challenging yet I would not mind to go for level 3. 😀 Fish slices that cook along is soft and fresh. – recommended!

kompassion (16)

Tako @ RM10 is one of the signature in the outlet as its better for you to pre-order first when you are ordering your meal. Smooth coconut milk texture on the top and pandan base makes it hard to resist and and Ice Cream with Jackfruit and Red Ruby @ RM10, I find it pretty average..

Cheese cake are complimentary for us to try (bottom left)

In the end our bill came into RM 382.50 for 6 pax. Slightly more expensive than normal dining restaurant but its pretty satisfying with the offering in the restaurant. Surely will come back again as there are a few dishes that I am looking to back for.

Remark: do note that this is a Fusion Thai restaurant as the taste might not be at your expectation as the taste had been tweak.

If you are looking for some nice Thai food, surely this would be my another recommended restaurant.

There are many pork lovers out there when it comes to food. Just simple type any best pork food related you can see lots of searches come out and with much talk about since quite  a few months back, finally we make an effort to drop by on this much talk about among many blogger friends of mine on this caramelize Toast & Roast Char siew. .

char siew (1)

A place that is well hidden around the neighborhood yet it is very easily to be located as you enter the main road in SS2 Mall then just drive till the end you will see a few shop houses at the end which is a dead road.

char siew (2)

With so many strips of char siew hanging, these are all the temptations that keep calling our name.. . .:p

char siew (3)

char siew (4)

pricing wise on the food is on the average side a bit more than kopitiam but on their specialist on char siew I guess its a good price. . .

char siew (5)

a more clean version of kopitiam that you can expect.

char siew (6)

Here is the char siew as we ordered medium @ RM16

char siew (7)

Look at how well the char siew is coated, as my fave is always ‘pun fei sau’. For the first time I see a Char Siew that roast till so nice, as there are no burnt ends on it and so shinny and moist skin that s very caramelize . This Char Siew definitely stand above our expectation, the meat is soft and the taste just blend in so well, with a bit of sweet taste at the end. I sure do not mind to have the whole medium portion by myself.

char siew (8)

As the Roast Pork do not tempt me that much but my colleague wanted to try so we ordered a small portion. @ RM 4 if not mistaken. a finely cut slice of roast pork. As a comment, don bother to order. . .

char siew (9)

Ordered their Roast Chicken and turns out to be not bad. .

char siew (10)

as many people also talk about their Hakka Mee and one thing that first catch my eyes is the noodle is showered with lots of fried pork lard. Find that the noodle is a bit dry and tasted normal and I mee pork more (Tang Pin Kitchen ss2).

char siew (11)

I cannot remember what is this already as it is the special for the day. The gravy Green Curry is too spicy that over power the taste of the meat and it was serve cold. Not even warm.

If you do come to Roast & Toast, the only thing I would recommend to order is just the Char Siew and if you would want to have noodle to go along, the Hakka Noodle is not bad lah.. If not just Char Siew alone is good enough and here is my another favourite Char SIew Stall which located at Sea PArk (Ah Khai Char Siew) which is another version of roasting. Cannot be compared.

Was early on the Saturday morning and called Chris where was he. Told me that he is in mechanic shop and ask him wanna go out makan or not. He asked me to go find him and bring me to 1 to eat ‘Siew Yuk’ very nice 1. So he brought me to this place in the housing area dalam dalam. Never been to this area before. As Chris told me that during the weekdays it is very hard to get a seat and have to wait very long to get your turn. During weekend a bit easy.

It was only 11.50am when I reached there and to my surprise the coffee shop already full of people and the que of ta pauing is already there. At least 5-7 ppl in the que.

This is the famous roast pork that been the signature of the place. As I observed all the tables around there, all the customer at least would order 1 full plate of ‘Siew Yuk’ the same goes to all the ppl tau pau.

This is what I have for my lunch, ‘Mix'(char siew, siew yuk and chicken). Not cheap for a small portion which cost me RM7 and the pieces of it can also count by fingers. It is like 4 pieces of siew yuk, 4-5 pieces of char siew and 4 pieces of chicken. WTF!!! The char siew is okay okay onli and the chicken is noting special.

Totally cannot denied that why the business is so good. The Siew Yuk’ is totally crispy on the crust itself its like eating chips, the the fragrance in the meat is just nice along with it. The fats on the siew yuk and the meat is just perfectly the right blend. Not too much fats and not too much meat. Must get a taste on it. Highly recommended
