Currently there is this big crazy hype on the biggest Starbucks Reserve coffee in Kl. Sorry I mean Starbucks Coffee PJ, that is currently operating in Tropicana Gardens Mall. A new mall in Kota Damansara.

best single origin coffee

Since they are the biggest Starbucks reserve, of course must order Starbucks Reserve coffee to see what’s the difference.

You can sit at the bench to take nice picture. A  nice contract of white marble with a bit of aqua pale green as a back wall. then sit and watch all the coffee process that they are making for other customers. For me it was super full house hence I only manage to find a side table. Enjoy from far lo.

My coffee in the making. with nice aroma. We were recommended in 2 different single origin beans. Panama best to have it in hot and Costa Rica best to have it ice.

I love both equally lots as it gives both different after taste aroma. Single origin Panama gives you a bit dark chocolaty end. Single Origin Coasta Rica is mild and subtle.

Good luck for your visitation to this outlet. As currently be prepare to queue to go in. however the queue is not that bad. We were like 10 minutes? Lucky us, but we were here for early coffee at 10.15am. Best cafe in Pj to visit? ambiance and single origin.

A new outlet had surface in Jaya One recently with more like a bar heading towards the night, as I often walk thru their premises daily till I come across they do sell Set Lunch and decided to give it a try . .Many of us are unaware of this location as this outlet as BarCode is located directly above Starbucks as there is a small door inbetween Starbucks and Ducking to lead up to this outlet.

[Close down since 2014]

NED_5408

This place would be quite a nice place for after work as they played R&B music or hits top 40’s and over the weekend the crowd is not bad.

NED_5407

One of the set back for lunch on this place is you have to sit on the bar table, as the staff are very accomodative, they can shift outside table to inside upon request as it would be great for many customers.

NED_5498

Bangers and Mash as the mash potato is super good, soft and nice yet I do not mind to have the whole mash myself.

NED_5503

The star among the choices are this Lamb Chop, well marinated, and the sauce pair very well with the marination and there is abit of lamb taste as I prefer it to be. – Recommended!

NED_5502

Chicken Parmigiana fried along with bread crumbs and cheeze on top.

NED_5511

Another dish that I often order is this Spaghetti that prepared well with a bit sourish tomato, cheeze sprinkle and very generous with the amount of sausages given.

Their set lunch are very reasonable with the huge portion they are serving as its available from RM11.90-RM18.90 that comes along with a glass of Ice – Lemon Tea.

I’ve been looking forward to this event since January, when news that it’s landing on our shores started appearing on the internet. The list of acts is impressive to say the least. Future Music Festival Asia It truly lives up to its moniker of “the largest music festival in Asia”.

fmfa_A2_4_linework

Let’s start with the logistics of the event first. Parking was a breeze although I find RM10 a bit steep. There were plenty of portable loos. Like, really a lot. That’s usually the first thing I’m concerned with when it comes to outdoor events like these.

fmfa 2

(This is what you see right before the entrance)

There was a food village with a pretty good selection ranging from sushi, pies, ice cream, and Sarawak laksa. Starbucks and Krispy Kreme were present as well. To complete the experience, there’s a merchandise section and even rides for us. I wasn’t paying much attention to those things as I was there purely for the music. Spotted a ferris wheel though. =)

I arrived at 5pm to catch Flo Rida’s set. I was very fortunate to be given two first class passes so we managed to get in fairly quickly. There were four stages: Future, Las Venus, Flamingo and Gnome. I was mostly fixated at the Future stage with occasional visits to the Las Venus stage.

fmfa 3

(The Future stage setup. I like how they have the white stars dangling at the top, they light up at night)

Flo Rida had the crowd eating out of his hands with favourites like “Low”, “In The Ayer”, “Sugar”, “Right Round”, “Club Can’t Handle Me”, and more.

fmfa 4

(Flo Rida performing “Take Over” with Mizz Nina)

fmfa 5

(Everyone grooving to Flo Rida)

The atmosphere was electric. He brought some red roses and gave them out to the ladies during one of his songs and even went into the crowd while sitting on someone’s shoulder! Talk about being crowd savvy.

fmfa 6

(photo stolen from Chris Tock cos he has the best shot)

After his set, I checked out the First Class area. It was nicely set up and I had a brief respite from the sweltering heat, sitting in the air conditioned area while chatting with Chris Tock. There’s F&B here catered by La Bodega but I didn’t stay long. I was there for the music yo!

fmfa 7

(First Class area)

On my way out, I managed to watch the tail end of Jalebee Cartel’s set and I liked what I hear. Was a bit sad I missed most of their show. I wanted to catch Eddie Halliwell so I hightailed it to the food village to grab a quick bite and then headed back to the Future stage.

fmfa 8

(Spotted this graffiti wall while on my way to the food village)

Eddie Halliwell was named DJ of the year by leading dance music magazine Mixmag in 2003 and 2005 and I’ve never heard him spin live so I wasn’t gonna miss it for the world. He didn’t disappoint. For me, his set was the best for the whole night. He worked the crowd into a frenzy and had everyone dancing like there’s no tomorrow.

fmfa 9

(Eddie Halliwell bringing the house down. My favourite act for the night. Sorry for the lousy quality, my compact camera sucks at night shots)

Next up was Pendulum. They were highly recommended by a friend of mine. However, I didn’t really enjoy their set. Everyone else was rocking to their tunes. Maybe it’s just not my cup of tea. So I went up to Las Venus to check out Blink & Goldfish. Very energetic duo and it was really nice to see so many people showing our local duo some love.

Tinie Tempah came on next and I stayed on for a few of his songs. Definitely a good performer and it seems that he really loved KL too, constantly telling the crowd how much he likes the country and the city. I didn’t stay long as I didn’t wanna miss the highlight of the night, The Chemical Brothers!

fmfa 10

(Sorry again for the lousy quality & bad timing. That’s Tinie Tempah on stage. You can see the huge crowd though)

I was quite worn out when The Chemical Brothers took to the decks due to the dancing and jumping earlier. I think I stayed for approximately 45 minutes and that was it, I called it a night. It was a good set and there was a massive crowd at the Future stage, spilling out all the way to the back. Everyone was screaming when they came on stage. However, I found their set a bit underwhelming after Eddie Halliwell’s rocking set. For a finale, it wasn’t as hard hitting as I’d hoped.

Still, it was an amazing experience, watching everyone come together in appreciation of good music. I felt it was a very well organised event. The people who attended were mostly very friendly and nice. It’s nice to see an eclectic crowd for once. I will definitely go for the next one.

fmfa 11

(Flamingo stage)

fmfa 12

(Las Venus stage)

30,000 people, 60 acts, 12 hours of music, 4 stages. Freaking awesome!

Some of us would have dinner outside almost everyday. Sometimes, we are just lost in hunting for what to eat on next meal. There is one outlet that newly operated in Sunway Pyramid new wing that sit directly across Starbucks is this famous restaurant chain from Singapore, Paradise Inn. Yes correct! I think you have the same thought as me when I was like huh? A restaurant not a hotel? Well, the word Inn definitely mislead many of us yet it is confirm that its not a hotel and it is actually a restaurant.

Paradise Inn (1)

The restaurant is decorated back into the olden days with contemporary look as you can see at the main entrance is like back to the 70’s style design high class restaurant at that time.

Paradise Inn (2)

Paradise Inn is one of a well know restaurant chain in Singapore that they provide good home cook style food at a very reasonable price.

Paradise Inn (3)

The food in the menu looks very tempting, everything in it looks good~

Paradise Inn (4)

One of their signature is their double boil soup that I can see nearly all tables have this classic pot sitting at their table.

Paradise Inn (5)_resize

I love the drinks that they are offering with a very light hint combination of the flavours and my fav is the one in the middle, which is one of the best seller (I suddenly forgot the name) then follow by Lavender Tea filled with some natural herbs and flowers like chrysanthemum too.

Paradise Inn (8)

Traditional double boil soup – Clam with pork ribsRM39.90/pot

Paradise Inn (9)

since every one order this, we were serve along to try it out along. This pot is enough to feed for 2-4 pax.

Paradise Inn (10)

Very clear in taste yet boil till the soup is aromatic, something that I have miss for quite some time and now I know where to hunt for nice double boil soup that is added into my list.

Paradise Inn (12)

Crisp-fried Crystal Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk one of the must order item. A prawn that had peel all the skins out and cook along that the whole prawn meat chew in your mouth blends with aromatic fried salted egg along just burst in flavour in your mouth. I always prefer to have prawns that already peel off its shell so can get the full taste of it. @ RM 29.90

Paradise Inn (13)

Crispy fried Fish With Preserved Bean Paste (Nam Yue) – Dory Fish fillet battered with preserved bean paste that fried till crisp on all side.

Paradise Inn (14)

Sliced Tea Smoke Duck is something for you to go for a start and chew, well marinated and finely cut slice is just enough to keep you going. @ RM 12.90

Paradise Inn (15)

Another one of my favourite which is Crisp-fried Crystal Prawns in Wasabi Mayo Sauce. Sauce is not too watery that is just at the right texture to coat along with the prawns and at the end of the taste a hint of spiciness that just burns your nose a bit.  @ RM 29.90

Paradise Inn (16)

Seafood Supreme Fried Rice is cook with ‘wok hei’ till its a bit dry and best part is you wont see a fried rice that cook along with Ebiko. Its unique. @ RM19.90

Paradise Inn (17)

This is one of my all time favourite, that I had this so often when I was in Melbourne and came back not many people can cook this well. Certainly Poached Chinese Spinach with Egg Trio and Minced Pork in Superior Stock is one of the recommended dish also that cook along with 3 types of eggs (Century egg, salted egg and normal egg) and mince meat. @ RM16

Paradise Inn (18)

The melt-in-your-mouth meat dishes, the Stewed Pork Belly Served with Lotus Bun

Paradise Inn (19)

It would be best to order along this Fluffy lotus bun as it is made fresh upon order.

Paradise Inn (20)

This is how you eat the stew pork with the bun, its one of the way and if you prefer to eat it without the bun also would be a perfect pair with your rice, because of its great sauce.

Paradise Inn (21)

I never like eggplant before because of its soft moist texture and after I have try good food when I was in Hong Kong i fall in love with this dish. Stewed Eggplant with Minced Pork and Salted Fish in Claypot that will pair along very well with your rice as the taste of it just absorbs. @ RM16

Paradise Inn (22)

One of a unique dish for the day is Coffee Pork Ribs, its a bit bitter at the end taste as that’s the result of coffee flavor. Very well prepared as the coffee taste do not over power their sauce that cook along. @ RM 19.90

Paradise Inn (23)

Crisp-fried Shrimp Paste Chicken crisp from inside out. @ RM18

Paradise Inn (24)

Braised Vermicelli with Pork Trotters is something that I used cook often when I am at oversea and now they have it here too. Its not too salty as it looks and the taste of pork trotters is in it without the vermicelli fried too dry. @ RM19.90

Paradise Inn (25)

Braised Tofu with Crystal Prawns @ RM25

Paradise Inn (26)_resize

At the end of the dinner, how can we not have desert when I scroll thru their desert page I am tempted to order all to try. So I guess my wish was granted and we have all it here. Corn and Barley, Mango Desert and Chilled Lemongrass Jelly with Lemonade

Paradise Inn (27)_resize

Mango Pudding, Black Sesame Paste and Almond

Paradise Inn (33)_resize

Double-boiled Hasma with Red Dates and Longan and Black Glutinous with tong yuen.

At the end of the meal, I was so full and satisfied, as rarely a Chinese restaurant that would serve quite a good range of food and taste is control best of all the price is very reasonable.. Definately I am looking foward to come back and dine here.

One of a recommended Restaurant!~

Well, since I am back to Penang for the weekend and decided to join the latest hype in Penang is about this newly open Charlie Brown Café which is first in Malaysia at Straits Quay which will become one of the hottest spot for F n B area. I am quite surprise that they choose to open in Penang first instead of Kuala Lumpur.

When I see many people check in this outlet, I have no clue who is Charlie Brown until I saw Snoopy in it. I guess we do know who is Snoopy since when we are a kid then I google bout it and only realise that Snoopy is actually a pet of Charlie Brown, well, till date I still called it Snoopy Café which I felt more suitable for it. 😀

Charlie Brown (1)

it was Monday for public holiday, many people throng Straits Quey for a family gateway or tea with friends.

Charlie Brown (2)

Charlie Brown Cafe which is easily to be found as they are located directly above Papa Rich as once you take the escalator up here, you will see alot of flashes and once you are up you will be greet with lots of Charlie Brown n gang on the wall . .

Charlie Brown (3)

Charlie Brown (4)

Charlie Brown (5)

The whole place is decorated with Charlie Brown n gang that many pictures you can be seen right like the comic feel.

Charlie Brown (6)

Big and spacious place for you to hang out.

Charlie Brown (7)

and there are 2 counters for you to line up to place your order, as they do not have menu on the wall something like Starbucks, their menu is a booklet menu place right beside the cashier, while waiting you can just pick it up and look at it where by it will cause the long queue because not many people notice on that.

It was quite okay, as in the chiller, they offer cakes of the day, and cashier was very friendly to introduce what they have for the day and what is their signature, I would say, she over promote the cakes but good efford. 🙂

Charlie Brown (8)

You can be also seated right at this sofa area that can enjoy the view of the harbour  .. . .

Charlie Brown (9)

Charlie Brown (10)

Charlie Brown (11)

Charlie Brown (12)

Charlie Brown (13)

If you do plan to by any souvenir, they have this souvenir shop that you are able to purchase their product directly.

Charlie Brown (14)

Charlie Brown (15)

Charlie Brown (16)

Charlie Brown (17)

and if you do plan to have little kids birthday party, I guess this function room will be the right choice to host on it, and also can do discussion . ..

Charlie Brown (18)

Charlie Brown (19)

Charlie Brown (20)

Moost of their table are decorated with different Charlie Brown Character.

Charlie Brown (21)

One of the most interesting thing is, I love their menu, as they do it in Comic Style. . .

Charlie Brown (22)

and their cake section, with all the colourful design of cake that filled with individual character.

Charlie Brown (23)

So what I say the cashier promote this Blueberry Cheese Cake as I find it very tempting also, as honestly, its just the look only. The cake tasted so so with too much sponge cake in it and the cheese taste is not impressive yet the taste of it was spoilt by the solid glitter candy which is too sweet that overpower the taste of the cheeze and blueberry. RM 9 (if not mistaken)

Charlie Brown (24)

Charlie Brown (25)

Here comes my ‘Mocha’ that turns out to be not bad, as I didnt expect it to be good as usually this kind of cafe do not serve good coffee. Just that the milk is burn, that makes it too hot to sip . . RM 11 ( if not mistaken)

Charlie Brown (26)

This is one of their signature drink, as I cannot really remember the name of it as its more like a Oreo drink, I would say I have tasted much better ones. RM13.90 (If not mistaken)

Well, I do heard feedback from my friend saying that their food did not impress and I would say that, if you love camwhore and taking pictures, this would definately a place to come by and enjoy. For Food and drinks, I have no comment as with the price I am paying, I certainly can find much better one.

– I forgot to take my receipt and price n name is just base on my agak agak memory .. .
