A new outlet that had just pop out in the neigbourhood of Damansara Kim. Tug in a quiet area but it had start to gain its fame thru online platform. We got to know that KomPassion one of a NON-Halal Thai food, then it makes us even more eager to try it out. Then decided to head to that outlet and do menu attack again..

kompassion (1)

kompassion (2)

I love the interior of the outlet which is creatively set up, that is very simple yet look elegant, with zink atap roof, wooden platform chairs on the side with pillows and lights below  . .

kompassion (3)

Water paip s as the support frame of the lap. .

kompassion (4)

A group of us sitting there quietly browsing on the menu, then got slightly excited as they offer quite a range of food to choose from and many new items or signature to hunt for. Price are slightly more expensive . .

As usual, when we go in a group of food bloggers without any invites, the usual still we will be equip with our gear – lights and camera. As the food came, every one in the restaurant were very curious on what we are doing. Then only the owners drop by our table to introduce themselves as Desmond Wong and Tan Huat Jin (who are brothers-in-law). Even better to know that both of them actually  teamed up with Chef Nikom Uatthong to set up this restaurant.

How the name Kompassion came up is they know the chef have alot of passion in cooking hence by using his last 3 character of his name and combine with this and that is how the name being created.

kompassion (6)

We started off with starter. KomPassion Chicken Wings @ RM17.90 A very simple dish that well marinated with spices and I was saying, if order a beer would have been perfect.

kompassion (7)

Stir Fried Kai Lan @ RM15

kompassion (8)

First pork dish and we are all excited, as The Paneang Curry Pork Loin came first..

kompassion (9)

A bit dissapointed on the other end as for the price of RM 35 its a rather small portion. Curry is thick with a hint of basil taste after that. Its not bad to go along with rice.

kompassion (11)

If you prefer something light and more soupy gravy, Green Curry Crispy Pork is the one that you should go after. Filled with basil leave taste, slightly creamy curry gravy and the pork cook along can still taste the crisp of the skin.@ RM35

kompassion (10)

Tom Yum Fried Rice with Grilled SeafoodRM18.90 , is cook in a healthy way with multi-grain brown rice is used and the serving came with grilled squid rings, a medium-sized prawn, crabsticks and salmon fillet. At the price I find this is very reasonable and rice being fried to fragrant and the sauce pairs very well, with seafood is fresh.

kompassion (15)

If you travel to Thai often, then many of us would not miss pork leg rice, as its the same in Kompassion Pork Leg Rice, when we saw this in the menu, its a must order. Pork meat is soft and juicy with gravy and the chili sauce that pair along is mild spicy and sourish end taste.  @ RM25.90

kompassion (13)

One of my favorite which is under KomPassion Special, we ordered the Double Cooked Pork Belly and Soft Shell Crabs with Cucumber Salad @ RM65. The pork skin is awesome, that its crispy on every bite and the meat is tender. Unami sauce that shower into it that makes the taste even better. Soft Shell crab on the other end fried to perfection till crisp and top with ebiko to make it even more bitefull feeling. – Recommended!

kompassion (14)

Tom Yum Fish @ RM45 with a spicy level of 2 (choose from 1-3, 3 being the spiciest). For those who cant really like spicy then would advise to go for level one. As the spiciness doesnt kicks in immediately, will suddenly shot up and I down a glass of water instantly. Its challenging yet I would not mind to go for level 3. 😀 Fish slices that cook along is soft and fresh. – recommended!

kompassion (16)

Tako @ RM10 is one of the signature in the outlet as its better for you to pre-order first when you are ordering your meal. Smooth coconut milk texture on the top and pandan base makes it hard to resist and and Ice Cream with Jackfruit and Red Ruby @ RM10, I find it pretty average..

Cheese cake are complimentary for us to try (bottom left)

In the end our bill came into RM 382.50 for 6 pax. Slightly more expensive than normal dining restaurant but its pretty satisfying with the offering in the restaurant. Surely will come back again as there are a few dishes that I am looking to back for.

Remark: do note that this is a Fusion Thai restaurant as the taste might not be at your expectation as the taste had been tweak.

If you are looking for some nice Thai food, surely this would be my another recommended restaurant.

I guess there is too much food to choose when you came by in a mall, not until my best friend Kheng came down to KL with his wife then they tried on first round and told me the next day during yam cha session, Bok, got one restaurant served very nice Thai food – Just Thai , you must go try. . . then I said, kia, we go again second round and to my surpise he agree. . .

*note: missing out some price and dish name (lost receipt) 😀

For me, I did not know that there are such a nice Thai restaurant located inside 1-Utama New Wing even though I walk passby 1000 times and don even bother to take a peek until I was brought here.

Just Thai which is located at the Lower Ground Floor which is directly opposite Speedy Video shop that offer great ambiance of dining with more contemporary style instead of Thai deco.

Just Thai with their quote Hospitality with a heart . . You judge yourself ..

Prize in this restaurant are pretty decent with their portion and taste.

Thai iced tea @ RM9

So what chu waiting for. . lets take the fork n spoon and lets eat. . .

Simple stir fried veggie was fried very aromatic and the gravy is just perfect to go along with rice.

Thai Otak-Otak which I hardly miss when comes to Thai Food, with seafood along with finely chopped coconut meat, with the gravy coated on each piece of the seafood and I kinda like it too . . .

Signature FirePot with Tomyam (4 pax)  is the star of the night. Quite spicy, and sour as me and my friends like it to be. Recommended~

One of the dish I seldom order locally because not many places can fried this very good as it cook along with basil leave till a bit dry in gravy, that makes it one of my favourite and do not know what struck me, I order this and turns out to be not bad. . .

Green Curry Chicken as up to my expectation with creammy type of curry and chicken meat was soft and eggplant did not overcook @ RM 15

Water Chestnut with Coconut Milk is not bad, a bit too sweet for me. .

Mango sticky rice with steam the rice first and mango is nice just that find the coconut dressing a bit weird in taste.

Overall, we had enjoyable time at this restaurant. . .which is my friends favourite restaurant.

For the first round I didn’t manage to find this restaurant as double K’s told me is along that stretch of Public bank and just right beside it. I have turn in rounds to make sure the place or I wasn’t too concentrate on searching. After the very next day I told them they said cannot be what, then only realize that the last time the dine was few years back. Maybe change location or Chap lap liau (bankrupt). Google it up for a while manage to locate one just on the junction of that street. Since its nearby, so go and try la, it was good and this posting will be my first and second visits of this place. Its located behind Times Square.

This was my very first visit and I came alone as in KL not many people go vegetarian during this festival. Its only a in thing happening in Penang. For me to try out veggie shop is to try out their curry. As, if they can cook a curry well, means the rest of the dish would be good. That’s what I think. So try out their very simple dish.

‘Curry Chicken Rice’ Love the curry, a bit mild spicy yet the thickness level is there, not too watery and the chicken was cook alike. A great single meal. RM8.90, comes with a ‘Lemon Tea or Lemon Coke’ and Ice cream which I think its a great deal.

Then last night I went there again to try out their stir fried. When we reach we were like fulamak! So many people, full house. Luckily there is a table paying at the moment as I was in the hurry. Then looking at the stir fried menu with picture looks good on a few dish also.

We manage to pick:

‘Honey Pork Meat’. The portion is just nice for 2 person and the first bite you will be surprise how tasty it is. The texture is similar to char siew and amazingly the sauce that they use feels like this dish is also been roasted out.RM10
‘Butter mixed Mushroom’, butter taste is there but the chili leaves had overpower most of the flavor yet we still enjoy this dish as to steal some of the gravy to accommodate with rice. RM15

another dish that would be a great companion of a rice.’Ma Po Taufu’ RM10

If you are looking for something reasonable that serve good quality of Vegetarian food, I would surely say this restaurant is in my recommendation list also. What we had would be just nice for a 3 person instead of a 2 person.
