Chicken rice is a very common food in our country. I am sure every one do have their very particular chicken rice stall including my best friend Ken. I found out that whenever his favourite stall is, its sure sardin pack, well hidden and of course expensive. Well, Restaurant Choon Yien or known as James Chicken Rice is no stranger to many foodie and despite I work nearby I did not know this place is famous for chicken rice till my friend curse me how could I not know. .

For most of famous place there are only 2 types of service you getting. One is super good or excellent near to first class service or another type is bad. This place certainly fell to errrr .. . Special case. This place is very well known for the boss being very ” lansi ” (snobbish) as he will scold his customer if :

1) they do not order properly

2) no patience you can leave

3) Please wait your turn

4) Please do not double order as I am still young and have good memory. You will make my process line Jam

the list goes on. Most customers will turn off or just walk away when the cook or server is like that but this place is very unique as despite people being scold including you are DATO, Tan Sri or who every is still same treatment yet keep coming as you can see branded cars park nearby.

Here comes our order, as the rice is fragrant. . .

Salted, spicy sour vegie soup is well balance with sourness of veggie that do not overpower the dry chili and asam skin cook along to tone it down. Nice~

I cannot deny that this stall here definately have one of the best char siew with lean meat being cut in between and can you see the balance of fat in between the meat is just as I love it. Caramelize edge with slightly burnt is something that I enjoy alot~ Recommended!

Chicken meat is pretty decent as what makes it good is the soy sauce base that the chicken had roast then soak along that make it good. Mix with its fragrant rice is just perfect not to miss their own chicken rice chili which is not too spicy and little sourish end is just the right combination.

Chicken rice is cheap in most kopitiam but not this stall. Total damage per head on that day is RM20 and being price at that way, it had shot up to first spot in my list for being the most expensive Chicken Rice stall.

You have to reach here early as stuff here sold out pretty fast. Best advise reach before 12.30pm and Char SIew is very limited per day. Most of them call in to reserve!

Remark: is it best advise not to visit here if you do not have the patience or got scolded by James. That is how he is~

Greedy Ghost (贪心鬼见鬼) Movie Premier

I have been to a few movie premier but not as official as this. As I was lucky to be invited for a movie premier that host it with cast and director came out for appearance. . As Chines Hungry ghost month is approaching soon as where you can see upcoming release of movies into the cinema will be a few films on ghost movie Greedy Ghost.

One of the latest one that had just open Greedy Ghost, that is, directed by Boris Boo from a story planned by executive producer Mark Lee which is no stranger to us in most if you do watch Singapore movie, along brings together a cast of Taiwan’s Kang Kang , Singapore’s Henry Thia, Malaysia’s Jesseca Liu and Brendan Yuen.

On the premier itself, all the main movie cast appear and they are wonderful, friendly and entertaining, especially Henry Tia or known as ah Hui in most of the movies. As most of him we seen him act in the movie is already funny and you should see him talking to the rest live. Very entertaining person and the rest telling how they felt about the role in the movie.

Didnt know that Jessica Liu is from Malaysia, as she is just stunning and pretty that amaze most of us on that night. She holds a role as Brendan Yuen’s girlfriend and you must see how she got splash with rubbish water in the movie. Yeww!

Signing off on the movie poster and here we go and be prepare to scream with laughter.

Genre: Comedy/ Horror

Lim (Kang Kang) which had been a very unlucky person, that what ever he do always end up bad! As he is having bad times in struggling career and life, while complaining to Fat and Hui on their steamboat dinner below their flat, then suddenly a person jump to his death landed on their eating table. A book fell next to his bag and took it without realising.

After his bath and on his fan to cool it off, when the book start flipping and suddenly he see’s numbers in it. Then voices been calling his name to buy Toto with the number he had seen. He did not believe the numbers and while watching the tv, a programm where most Singaporean will sit front of their tv to see if they hit jackpot. Unbelievable, the number he seen is all correct! AS the night itself he seek on ‘Wordless Script’ to give him numbers again, and the book forewarns Lim that he will have to pay a heavy price, should he wants big winnings. Blind by greet, he obey everything. Many Things happens after that.

For most of the guys, we always do have a wish list that a few items that we must have. One of the item in my wish list is definitely a nice glam watch when I can afford on later stage in my life. Funny Mountain offer best Soya Bean & Tau fu fah @ Ipoh

Last Hari Raya Break was quite a long break for me as it is pretty boring to to stay in Penang all the time, and I cant really remember when is the last time I had breakfast with my parents, and decided to drove them down to Ipoh for Tim Sum at Foh San which I havent blog about it yet, then head to a few places before last stop, stopping by at this Funny Moutain Soya bean which is highly recommended by my brother.

Yes, you are right, the name of the stall is called Funny Mountain, and I wonder where exactly this mountain is. Those who are always down, or no motivation and I guess if this moutain do exist, then they should head there. :p

To hunt for this place is pretty easy as this little shop is located opposite Lou Wong Chicken Rice, where not you can see a huge banner right across the chicken shop which people queuing up that make the traffic a little jam up, is too hard to be miss.

I read many blog that they mention, try to be there early as the taufufah is one of the best seller in the shop and always finish pretty early, whereby try to be there anytime before 2pm on the day as it mention there, operation 10.30am till finish.

you can see many people do make a take away as this shop do not offer any place for you to sit, which is a small little lot that enough for them to move around and sell their items.

No wonder it attracted huge crowd, as I cannot deny that, this is by far one of the best taufufah that I have come across, that it is so silky smooth and so soft that you need not even to chew that with instantly melts or you swallow unnoticed.

Soya Bean, is very fresh and I like the texture of it which is a bit thick in taste yet very soothing, a very simple and refreshing for me in early morning. I always like mine to go with white sugar, as my bro and sis like theirs in black sugar.

This place is definately not a stranger to locals and if you do by chance to head to Ipoh for food hunting, then this is one of the shop that you must not miss. Highly Recommended~

Movie Review: Nasi Lemak 2.0 & Johnny English Reborn

Genre: Comedy

This is another one of our local production that by the director name itself that makes no stranger to all of us, Namewee which had been trying hard to make a film since when he came back from Taiwan, and much effort after 2 years, he finally make his first movie Nasi Lemak 2.0 that feature some of our local celebrity with another main cast Karen Kong that got famous over Youtube singing and Dennis Lau our very local talented violinist, also along with malay celebrity.

A movie is about Chef Huang graduate in cooking school from China and is back to spread the cuisine around the area, his restaurant is not popular but himself is very popular among the neighborhood because he helped alot people. Then Karen Kong’s family having some issue and need to find a chef till found him and surprisingly her god mom nasi lemak is very famous along the street and Chef Huang hate it so much. After much of Chef Huang downfall, Adibah Noor show him the way how to cook one of the best nasi lemak and from there the adventure begins.

Its a funny movie to watch, and the best part of all, its a movie that truly reflect 1 Malaysia. Find that he certainly can improve more on his next movie. Just support our local productions.

Johnny English Reborn is another funny flick by Mr.Bean himself that he had failed from last mission and they got no choice to get him back and do watch the first part of it back to 2003.

This round he is back with more funny movie that you will laugh from begininig till the end, where he is out to become an agent again, to a mission and got frame by one of the agent then solve the mission.

So if you feel blue or down, so just buy a movie ticket, watch, enjoy and laugh

Remark: sit till the end of the movie, there are another short sequel which I have miss out. .

Delicious @ Straits Quay, Penang

Straits Quay in Penang had turn to one of the latest attractions to many FnB outlets to be opened in this area as it is considered one of the first in Malaysia to have a shopping mall at the sea front that make it one of the hottest place for dining at the moment.

With another one to add in is Delicious is the latest addition to the area and had attracted alot of Penangnites to hang out in this restaurant which is definately is no stranger to people in KL.

One thing that KL outlets do not have is outdoor area with sea front view that you can sit and chill outside here at night, sometimes with sea breeze blow till you have to hold on your hair. . :p

Interior is a bit different from KL branches which is more casual here. . .

One thing of course you would not want to miss when you come to Delicious is this fridge, that host many types of cakes and delicious is also famous for its deserts.

On Sunday afternoon, its super pack with families to come here for lunch and just do bare in mind that, please do your reservation to avoid any dissapointment or long queue.

For big parties or gathering, they do have this area to host you up on your special request. . .

I always love the ‘Speghetti Carbonara’ in Delicious, which cook til quite creamy and a bit thick in sauce yet with some soupy base which is how I like it. RM23.90

Then my mom order this ‘Chicken Leek Pie’ @ RM 20.90.

For a pie in this size to stuff all the ingredients in there, I would say its good, puffy crispy outside on the crust, moist inside and best to eat along with the gravvy. –reccommended to order~

My dad order this ‘Duck Confit’ which is the worst of all, solid meat, a bit tasteless and its super small in size that cost RM32.90.

Just to be on the safe side of the food, just order what is the usual in the menu, do not be adventurous at this moment.

Overall I would say, KL branches taste much better than Penang Branch have alot to improve especially in terms of services and management of seatings. Numurous of complains by my friends and I would just say, give them 3 more months.. which is lack of floor staff to handle such crowd.

and best of all is do be aware that, they have this section called Desert Section ONLy where you are able to order desert n eat if you do feel you want to order some mains to get along, they have to shift you.. which is just nonsence. I guess they are limiting their earnings in this restaurant.

Besides that now, Straits Quay also have weekend market now which is quite huge with 2 types of market available on last weekend of the month .. Have fun
