A brand new wave of Bubble milk tea is hitting into Klang valley for year 2019. With a new term I learn known as the Boba Tea trend. The first wave was about 10 years ago, where Chatime make a big hit (now known as Tealive our own homegrown Bubble tea brand). Most of these outlet have their own signature and own style. I called it a new innovation of flavour especially brown sugar milk base. Well, here are the current hype of 3 New Taiwan Famous Bubble Milk Tea in KL 2019. (it was suppose to be 5 as 2 more Taiwan bubble milk tea is opening in Kepong) Or currently consider as the Top 3 New bubble milk tea brand that every one is talking about.

I believe the no.1 new brand in many people’s heart is:

No.1 The Alley 鹿角巷

This is the first brand that landed in KL for our new boba trend. When they landed, all Milktea lovers just went besserk. You see heaps of people crazily lining up their SS15 outlet and since that they have expended quite fast around Klang Valley and slowly to other states.

I like both their Royal No.9 Milk Tea @ RM 9.80 and their Brown Sugar Deerioca Milk Tea @ RM 13.80 (if I remember correctly). Their pearl is really good. Chewy and soft. Quite different kind of texture that I have tried.

I have tried their SS15, SS2 and Kepong outlet. Skip their SS2 outlet is by far the worst, flat and tasteless. Kepong and SS15 quite consistent.

The Alley 鹿角巷

No.2. TigerSugar MY 马来西亚老虎堂

Second brand that landed in ourshore not too long after The Alley is Tigar Sugar. Tigar Sugar is making a huge wave in Taiwan itself and Hong Kong.

I have yet to try this out as the queue in Sunway Pyramid is also 30-45 mins. Shall skip till they have more outlets. Apparently, my friends said it is quite disappointing. Only to try if there is less queue.

Their latest outlet is in Pavilion, located at Pavilion Elite. Same row as TeaLive

Location:
Sunway Pyramid
LG1, Jalan PJS 11/15,
Bandar Sunway, 47500 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
(believe it is infront of Auntie Anne – Old wing)

Fresh from Taiwan as they just open its door about 3 weeks ago in SS 15 as their first outlet in Malaysia and making a huge bee line. Rest assure that the queue will take you about 30 mins – 45 mins to get a cup of your boba. Seen my friend checking out the outlet and it seems they do have little gimmick. Some of my friend mention to me that their franchise cost about RM 300k-500k per outlet. According to my friend that had join on the queue, she said that it is nothing special and too sweet. What will be your verdict?

Location:

3 New Taiwan Famous Bubble Milk Tea in KL 2019 that I have known. If you do encounter more, do share with me as I will make this list longer. Enjoy your Boba then~

September is definately one a very rare month that we get to enjoy lots of holidays and it is indeed Once in a Blue Moon. Matching perfectly with the theme that had been set by Grand Dorsett Subang for upcoming Mid Autumm festival with their settings of mooncake Once in a Blue Moon.

Mooncake these days are getting more variety of flavour, however there are some classic that is still not to be missed. This year Master Chef Alex Chan from The Emperor Chinese Restaurant, Dorsett Grand Subang, handcrafts the classic mooncake varieties with a twist. The hotel’s signature mooncake for this year is the Crystal Skin Pandan Lotus Paste with Single Yolk which embodies the Dorsett identity with its snow skin in blue.

Once in a Blue Moon (1)

Blue? Yup, it matches back to their theme Once in a Blue Moon as we were being showcase by the chef on the making of the blue snow skin.

Blue Crystal Skin Pandan Lotus Paste with Single Yolk 蓝冰皮单黄翡翠月饼 @ RM30.00/pcs with the actual size of normal mooncakes. (as picture shown above is for tasting portion only.)

The mooncake is free from artificial colouring as it is derived from ‘Bunga Telang’ extracts. Bunga Telang; also known as Blue Pea Flower, carries antioxidants which can lower blood pressure as well as enhancing memory and brain power. If this filling is not your prefered choice then you can opt for red bean paste filling @ RM28.00/pcs.

Once in a Blue Moon (6)

These handcrafted halal mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival comes in a box of two (2) and four (4) pieces with elegant packaging featuring Dorsett’s iconic Tiffany Blue matches with luxurious gold colour emprinted.

Once in a Blue Moon (7)

Of course not to miss out the classics flavors also their new nutritious baked mooncake flavours – Six Coarse Grains Paste, Coconut Pandan Paste with Single Yolk and Green Tea Paste with Single Yolk.

Once in a Blue Moon (11)

Coconut Pandan Paste with Single Yolk 香甜椰奶单黄月饼 @ RMRM30.00/pcs

The Coconut Pandan Paste combines two familiar local flavours with the aroma of Pandan leaves and the sweetness of coconut. Pandan leaf extracts have been thought to reduce fever, relieve indigestion and flatulence while coconut is known for protecting against heart diseases by increasing good cholesterol.

Once in a Blue Moon (13)

Six Coarse Grains Paste 六谷粗粮月饼 @ RM28/pcs

The Six Coarse Grains Paste is rich in Omega 3 as it contains walnut, melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, rolled oats, black sesame and sunflower kernel. I do not know how to enjoy nutty version still it is one of my old folks favourite. As for this, it is less sweet and has mono-unsaturated fatty acids to lower cholesterol.

Once in a Blue Moon (10)

Green Tea Paste with Single Yolk @ RM30/pcs

Once in a Blue Moon (12)

Pure Red Bean Paste 香甜红豆沙月饼 @ RM26 /pcs

Walk around quite a while and had decided to eat Twins Dakgalbi which is one of my favourite home cook method till I stumble this huge awesome Korean decor which is a new outlet, OUTDark, SS15.

OutDark (2)

OutDark (5)

OutDark (6)

OutDark (7)

This is one of their signature dish – Cheese Kingdom @ RM 79 – with their special sauce base, generous amount of cheese, fried chicken , toppoki, kimchi side and mini rice.

OutDark (8)

OutDark (9)

OutDark (10)

I can only say for this concept, they are currently one of the best that I have come across in KL. Definately top in my list at the moment as I love the special sweet spicy sauce, yet chicken fried to perfection along with toppoki is perfect. chewy yet not too hard to my liking.

Will definitely come back again to try out their other item.

I discover Whup Whup at Ss13 when they first started to run their business by converting industrial yarn factory to industrial like contemporary cafe.. If I remember correctly, they were about 2 weeks old at that time and there are few recommended items from some online influencer on their menu, therefore we decided to swing by.

Upon placing order, was quite disappointing where came here for their scallops as they mention they were out of stock, and also another item, Duck 3 ways that we wanted to order was not available too.

WHup Whup (13)

WHup Whup (14)

So I ordered their The Original NO Cream Carbonara @ RM 20 – covered with cheese, duck bacon for meatballs & sprinkling of leaves.

WHup Whup (15)

Since the order weren’t available so another dish we turn to Lil Miss Nibbles @ RM 25. Salmon fillet, scramble egg, sauteed erynggi mushrooms, pan seared tomatos and toasted curry bread. Upon serving of this dish, it was quite a turn off where the presentation is this plan. Assemble truely like when you are at home while you are paying RM 25 for this where we at least expect something slightly more than this. .

WHup Whup (16)

Meals on that day were rather disappointing as I did not elaborate further on it and left to hunt for other food after that.

Hopefully they have improve along the way.
