Tokyo Secret

Since the hype of cheese tart is going to be over and I have been slowly exploring on the uniqueness of each tart. As below, I have arrange according to my own personal preference with a list of my top 5 cheese tart in Malaysia. Top in my list would still be:

1) Tokyo Secret

Tokyo Secret (7)

First bite on the crust gives you a very biscuity fragrance and hint of buttery vanilla. Then the cream cheese is so soft and fragrant yet you can taste it is pack with cheese flavour. Super creamy yet if you bite too big mouth, the cream cheese might ooze out from your mouth.

At RM 7.90 per piece as still one of the expensive ones, yet still top in my list for quality of it.

Tokyo Secret (9)

2) Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake Baked Cheese Tart

uncle tetsu (1)

Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake Baked Cheese Tart is sitting at no.2 because of these simple reason. At RM4.50 I certainly do not have any complain on them where they turn out pretty good. Crust is decent as it is not too solid yet best of all, the cheese in the middle do ooze out. Mild fragrant that do not give you the overpowering cheese like Tokyo Secret yet just nice enough. Although the size is smaller, however the quality is there.

3) Pablo Cheese Tart

Pablo Cheese Tart (8)

top 5 cheese tart in Malaysia this brand appears most expensive cheese tart in the market today is known as Pablo. A famous Japanese brand that had just landed in in Malaysia that with a cheese tart is selling at RM 8.90. Those who prefer milder cheese taste yet with a better quality ingredient, this would be the choice.

4) Lavender Harajuku Cheese Tart

Lavender Harajuku Cheese Tart is one of my latest discovery that turns out to be quite decent. Love the colour of the cheese tart, yet the filling is slightly airy and not too dense compare to Uncle Tetsu. It also do ooze out. Love the little mild cheese fragrant lingering in the mouth. Quite a decent piece for RM 6.

5) Hokkaido Cheese Tart

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (4)

Sits right below in my list is still Hokkaido Cheese Tart which is a copy cat of famous chain BAKE. I have tried 3 times over past 6 months to check is there any improvement since my first encounter. Yet in my personal taste bud, they still sits at the bottom as this brand do appear to many people’s favourite. Crust is still too solid to my liking and I find those 4 on top are better in terms of price and quality. Sells at RM 5.80 per piece

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (6)

there you go on my top 5 cheese tart in Malaysia.

Another new trend had begun. The latest hype on food is this Baked Cheese Tart, that my friend bought for me to try out during our met up at Pavilion. It seems like making waves after waves in social media. With both brand Tokyo Secret and Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart launching about the same time, had gotten me very curious over both of them.

Tokyo Secret (2)

Lets start with Tokyo Secret, the Japanese Hanjuku Cheese Tart ( Half Baked Cheese Tart ) which is not originate from Japan but from Hong Kong has landed in Malaysia by opening their first outlet in Ikano Power Centre ( IPC ) Shopping Mall. To look for this outlet, it is actually located inside Mac City and it is undeniable for you not to look for them as the aroma of the tart is capturing.

Tokyo Secret (3)

Upon entering the outlet, you will be greeted with those strong cream cheese smell in the baking, where it is quite similar to those strong smell when you walk pass by Famous Amos that constantly tempt you to buy their cookies. This had similar impact.

Tokyo Secret (4)

Menu is pretty direct where they serve either Cheese Tart or their version of soft serve ice cream.

Tokyo Secret (5)

Tokyo Secret (6)

Look at that pippin hot tart and their crust.

Tokyo Secret (7)

Smell is awesome, when it is served hot. First bite on the crust gives you a very biscuit fragrance and hint of buttery vanilla. Then the cream cheese is so soft and fragrant yet you can taste it is pack with cheese flavour. Super creamy yet if you bite too big mouth, the cream cheese might ooze out from your mouth. I had two pieces of this and ended up to heavy.

At RM 7.90 per piece, this is certainly an expensive tart.

Tokyo Secret (8)

It may look pretty and with each additional toppings at RM 2, it is just not worth it. You can forget about the soft serve, as I had mine with the glutinous rice balls and their recommended sweet purple potato.

Overall, it is worth to give it a try provided if you are willing for the queue as their service is very slow where I heard that, that is their style of serving.

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (1)

Next, I head to Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart that appear on my feed that is located in in front of Serai, Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang. Under this umbrella, it seems that they are going pretty aggressively in both their outlet openings and also social media presence. Since I am on the way back, decided to drop by and check out what is the big buzz about it.

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (3)

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (2)

We bought a box back where current promotion is buy 5 FREE 1 at RM 29 where to by individual tart, it cost RM 5.80 each. By Looking at both the colour and the crust, we knew that they are on the losing end. .Besides that, I love their box presentation that careful slid in 6 tarts at this double story customize box.

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (4)

The crust is light in taste and not as fragrant as Tokyo Secret, quite hard on the edge crust where you bite, it comes out in long cracking pieces, the cream did not ooze out as seen in the picture, and compare to the one I had, it do seem a little slightly over baked. Lack of cheese taste and nothing to shout about.

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (6)

Expectation were built quite high and ended up I have to drive to SS15 to make another take away of normal egg tart, to kill of the tart cravings.

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (7)

Hokkaido Baked Cheese (8)

Just an egg tart comparison where I would rather pay RM 1.90 over RM 5.80 which is over price for such tart.

In both comparison, it is quite clear that Tokyo Secret is the one that stood out more with its perfect baked baked tarts and certainly knew that they use more premium ingredients where price difference only is RM2.10.
