In Japan or as seen in a movie, there are alot of small little famous eatery around neighborhood that hidden around a corner. There are a new hidden gem in the heart of KL with many of my friends saying that I did not know there are actually a Japanese restaurant there regardless they walk by that route almost daily. Ozeki Italia is actually a new restaurant that located at Ground Floor of Wisma Cosway, directly oppostive Novotel Hotel. A small little restaurant that operate not more than 4 months that serve pork along that had slowly gaining its reputation among local food hunter.

Ozeki (2.1)

Its not a huge restaurant that estimated full house capacity about 50 pax at one go. Therefore, to dine here, it is highly recommended to make your reservation. I always love Japanese cuisine and as far I as understand there are actually very less Japanese Chef explore other part of the world to learn other country cuisine and to my surprise  the current head chef had resides in Italy for 30 years and had been travelling around small town to learn their recipe therefore OZEKI Italia is actually a combination of Japanese and Italian cuisine that sparks the interest in me.

Ozeki Italia (1)

The ambiance certainly do give me I am ship to Japan to dine in those small little outlet which alot customers are willing to queue for their good food.

With the quality of chef produce, the price is definitely reasonable and apologize for the blur menu.

Ozeki Italia (5)

IF you are adventourous then leave your meal to the chef as our first dish came out right from chef’s idea is Chef’s Recommendation @ RM58. Grilled Fresh Sanma with Bacon Tomato Sauce. ITs a very unique combination here with first hint of fresh sweetness of seafood is tasted then follow by strong seasoning of green gravy on top of it which is strong sourish salty. Regarding on this dish, it is best to pair with white wine and I think it will absolutely bring out the freshness and taste of it.

Ozeki Italia (6)

I have always love pork burger and this is one of a unique dish, Polpetine @ RM 32. Duck hamburg steak served with spinach sauteed, dry raisin, pine nuts & topped with half boiled egg and chef special Japanese sauce

Ozeki Italia (7)

We were brief by the manager, there are actually 2 ways in eating this. Original purpose,  you will poke on the egg yolk to let it ooze out and pair it along. There are also people dislike the taste mixture, you remove the egg yolk to the side of the plate then only poke as only little part is mix with then only pair along. The difference I got is, original taste without egg yolk taste much better but with egg yolk dipping with the soy sauce on plate makes it better as for after taste.

Ozeki Italia (4.0)

Home made bread as I whack 3 of this. ITs so good, soft and serve pippin hot which is fresh from the oven. Rarely you will find such a great bread especially the charcoal bread that made in house by the chef.

Ozeki Italia (9)

Something looks ordinary which is Insalata Prosciutto RM 28 – Mixed salad, Parma ham, grapes, Mozzarella cheese with Japanese dressing. Parma ham taste, fresh finely slice and mozzarella cheese give the well balance sweetness of the salad makes it a superb dish. Recommended!

Ozeki Italia (10)

DiavoleRM 38 – grilled marinated spring chicken with Japanese Citron Pepper and Olive oil, served with potato & mushroom sautee, dressed with japanese citron pepper and balsamico sauce. A young age chicken being well marinate and grill to perfection that the meat is juicy and soft with the light seasoning is enough to make the taste awesome~

Ozeki Italia (11)

I have always finding it hard to find good Rissoto. I must say that this Risotto OstricheRM 34 is one of the best I have come across especially from a Japanese Chef that cook it so authentic. Risotto cooked with assorted Mushroom & Parmigiano cheese topped with steamed Japan oyster on Hot Sizzling Plate. Something simple that keeps me digging into it until its finish then I stop. Cook to perfection that its just moist enough and taste of mushroom and parmigiano cheese well balance. Recommended~

Ozeki Italia (12)

Spaghetti MerluzoRM 48 .Spaghetti tossed with homemade corn marigold paste, cooked & chopped garlic and olive oil; topped with grilled black cod fish with Japanese soya sauce, sprinkled with Japanese assorted chilli pepper

Ozeki (3.1)

Indeed it is a very satisfying meal and its hard to find one eatery that offer such authentic food. Not only that before I walk off they have dinner buffet on every Sunday and price is very reasonable. Surely I am coming back for more.

Before I end this, a new discovery is that, in this restaurant they have chef that specially cook to cater on our local taste as they have discover that different people especially Chinese have stronger taste bud therefore the food cook on the day will be specially for you as in the kitchen they are being inform its Chinese guest. If it is Japanese diner then it will be tone down according to the authentic taste. For me, it is best to let the restaurant manager or the person that took your order saying you prefer authentic taste. Again it is up to you as you cant complain as you wish to try it out.

Highly recommended restaurant if you wish to try out some authentic taste and please bare in mind with food that you are not familiar with, please request the manager how you enjoy best of your food.

In our itenery, second day is to wake up early and head to Yangmingsan National Park for a sightseeing which is located in between Taipei City and Taipei Country which can be access by their MRT.

day 2

As most of us woke up late that day, so we went to MacD to grab a quite breakfast and of course not to miss their pork burger. The only difference is that, their bread is a bit softer and there are no tomato sauce available. I just love the moment I capture on that kid which I do not know what he see open till his mouth like so soh soh.

day 2 (2)

Our accomodation which is just a station away from Taipei Main Station under Nangang MRT line, Shandao Temple to start off with and we are heading to Shilin Night Market Station to take bus.

day 2 (3)

Reached at Shilin Night Market station then walk down to the public bus waiting area which is just located next to the station and we have to ask around which bus to take.

day 2 (4)

When the bus arrived, it was an empty bus and the queue is very long to the way back and most of them are old folks. So I guess we are heading the right way, with bus no.280 (if i am not mistaken).

day 2 (6)

Journey to Yangmingsan from Shilin Night Market takes approximately 45 minutes.

day 2 (5)

On that day it was weekend, and we were told by one old couple that usually there is full of family.

day 2 (7)

day 2 (8)

After reaching the main area of Yanmingsan, we have to take a mini bus to tour the whole mountain as it is huge, and was told by the driver it takes about 30 – 45 minutes to round the whole 13 stops and in between, see which are the stop that you are interested in then hop off.

day 2 (9)

The city administrative area includes Beitou District, Shihlin District, Taipei County’s Wanli, Jinshan Township and Sanchi Township. During the Japanese occupation era of Taiwan, it was known as Datun National Park(大屯国立公園). The National Park is famous for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes and hiking trails, including Taiwan’s tallest and one over the extinct volcano Seven Star Mountain (七星山, 1,120 m).

Yangmingshan was originally called Grass Mountain (草山; Taiwanese: Chháu-soaⁿ) during the Qing Dynasty, in reference to Datun Mountain. Official’s during this period were worried about thieves stealing sulfur from the rich sulfur deposits in the area so they would regulary set fire to the mountain. Thus, only grass and not trees could be seen. The first national park was established during the Japanese occupation in 1937. (source Wikipedia)

day 2 (10)

So most of the folks living around the area selling fresh vegetable and fruits and I got scolded for shooting one of the auntie.

day 2 (11)

One thing I like about Taiwan is that most of the people there are very well manner which the line up in all public transportation and respect the elders, pregnant ladies and family with kids that most of the people will give their seats away to allow them to seat on.

day 2 (13)

One our first stop, we were quite surprise by how many people are in the area for hiking, tai chi and popular around this first stop is cycling.

day 2 (14)

day 2 (18)

One of the info and history center.

day 2 (19)

During our bus ride to each station, there are one sight that caught very much of our attention is that the mountain looks like a small hole in and smoke keep coming out and Pak asked one of the locals, told us that, is one of a must visit place if come to this mountain.

Siaoyoukeng is the stop that we hop off and the wind was so strong that day that we cant even walk straight. One strong hit can make us sway to the left or right but it was exciting as we have never encounter such a strong wind before.

day 2 (20)

Then we saw this trail which looks very interesting but what stopped us was the distance, 1.6KM to the peak. . . is somehow too far and not for us to do it, if we were to stay there for a night, we sure will do it and we believe it will be one of a breath taking view if we were to reach to the peak.

day 2 (21)

day 2 (22)

This is the stop whereby Taiwan one of the tallest and extinct volcano which name as Seven Star Moutain (七星山) that stand 1,120m above sea level.

This cafe really reminds me back to those days when I was studying at Taylor where Asia Cafe did not exist yet. It was only like an abandoned area with kampung style deco and a western food restaurant. INTI high rise building were never build yet also. Well, well, back to Asia cafe for food. It is like a hawker center or called it a food court without air con. But sure do famous for watching soccer. Have alot of big screens TV around.
I was so hungry so I ordered this ‘Red Wine Pork Chop rice set’ in one of the stalls in there. Asking me where about, ermmm… it is nearby I don’t know which is which. Ahh..remembered, the stretch that same with the firewood pizza stall or can say that in front of the TakoYaki stall stretch. In the picture display at the stall is sure look very tempting, bout the same as what I took, but honestly the red wine sauce is quite strong, makes it not really good to savior. The pork meat is soft even suits for grandpa to eat and chew. For this dish is RM7.50 (if not mistaken)rating 5/10. okay lah~

This is the Mee Yoke Prawn Mee a.k.a Hokkien Mee, what pg ppl called. Taste very nice, enough salty, and mix with everything you can get, like intestine, pai kuat, and extra added small prawns.RM 5 only. Rating 7/10

I have always in love with the fire woods pizza, as I find it nicer but not to be denied that Franky’s pizza is not bad also. Was walking around like hungry zombie, then look at the pizza like quite alot people ordering so decided to join the crowd. This 1 can’t remember called what but sure do remember it is no.16 in the menu. Got pineapple, ham, cheeze and don know what others already but sure do know that among the 3, this is the best. The aroma of the pizza is very nice, soft, yet juicy with the tomato sauce base and not too thick. Small size of pizza is priced at RM9
