It was a random walk in as were hunting food in Sri Petaling and found this new shop that just open with their special price. Eat all you can charcoal bbq buffet at RM 29.90 and with drinks is RM 34.90 as their opening special and was a too good bargain in this Meet-ing Point at Sri Petaling. What can you expect. Support new businesses , support Lokal.

When we first stumble upon them, they were just 2 days old . Variety of meat that they offer is pretty decent and just a challenge on how you plan to fill up your stomach! Fresh meat that is prep on that day is ready to serve to you to the table. Pick your selection and get it ready to grill. Pork Belly, pork patty & curry beef was our favourite for the night.

With their special bbq pit, it is not as smokey as what we perceive. Could be also only 5 tables were on that day.

meet-ing point (8)

We were happy with the meat selection and marination werent the best but acceptable for the price we are paying.

meet-ing point (9)

We tried out some of their snacks too.

variety of sauce were offered as they are still on R&D stages.

eat all you can buffet

the owner is pretty open as they ask about our opinion about their food and we gave them feedback accordingly. Of course they are more than happy to listen to most of us and looking forward to further improve their marination base on neighborhood feedback.

meet-ing point

Be kind to business owners, as it is not easy to spend money and run a business in this pandemic. Instead of criticize, why not give them a straight feedback where the owner can improve and we can come back an enjoy again. For the price we are paying with eat all you can bbq in KL, I have no complain at all. Just gave them some feedback what should be add on and also what could be further improve. For 2 days in operation, I certainly hope that they can thrive long for their business.

On and off, I keep thinking where to eat whenever go to Uptown Damansara, and drove pass by this shop Auntie Sim Kitchen uncountable times yet did not make a move to go in till recently. Instantly this place had turn to one of a must go shop in Uptown Damansara if you are looking for Hong Kong stir-fried cuisine.

Auntie Sim Kitchen

I must say, it is a perfect spot for family gathering if you are looking for Hong Kong dai chow in PJ. Train by a chef from Hong Kong and even some of the signature ingredients are flown all the way from Hong Kong.

Auntie Sim Kitchen (3)

As to preserve heritage and a twist of her own, this is a must have starter. Traditional Teochew Prawn Balls @ RM 35. It is a bit pricy but generous with ingredients. A bag full with mince meat, not too salty yet crispy on the outside with the skin and in it I think do have some water chestnut and also chewy juicy prawns. Perfecto!

Auntie Sim Kitchen (4)

Next is a simple veggie soup, with its broth are sweet and perfect.

Auntie Sim Kitchen (7)

Stir fried Angus Beef with Pepers. Very simple yet perfect in taste. Hint of grind black pepper that did not over power the meat yet the beef was cook to perfection. Juicy and tender that it is medium.

black bean fish

This is one of the dish that instantly hit my palate notes that makes them pretty authentic Hong Kong Dai Chow. Claypot Braised Tilapia with Bittergourd @ RM38 upwards. Not many eateries in KL are able to fried a perfect bitter gourd dish especially topped with black beans. One of the ingredients is imported from Hong Kong that makes it quite authentic.

Anything with their claypot bitter-gourd, I guess should give it a try. I am going to come back for their alternative.

fried duck

To me another local classic is their fried Duck topped with a twist of chef special gravy. Crispy skin, juicy meat and gravy to smooth gravy to tone the flavour down is indeed pretty spot on!

sang har noodle

ahhh, highlight of the night is this : Dry-fried Yee Mee with Freshwater Prawns

Auntie Sim Kitchen (9)

This is not the ordinary shang har noodle (so some of you call it that way). as this noodle was serve, the smell of the big head prawn just trail on the air. Makes u instantly hungry. Looking at the springy noodle just makes me want to instantly dig in!

Auntie Sim Kitchen (10)

Very fresh prawns that had been fried to perfection. Juicy meat that sips with the soy sauce to my liking.  I am in love with the noodle texture as it is one of the best reminiscence to Hong Kong food. Then only found out that it is also imported from Hong Kong. No wonder the springy texture, boink boink and the longish of noodle is just there.

Auntie Sim Kitchen (11)

avocado

To end the meal, we try their evergreen signature which is a must-try is their Avocado in Thai King Coconut @ RM 16. Silky smooth blend avocado puree which is quite prominent in terms of taste that did not give you the raw skin taste yet a hint fragrant of coconut taste is there.  – Recommended!

Auntie Sim Kitchen (13)

A perfect place for Hong Kong Dai chow food in PJ. I certainly will come back to try some of their other dishes.

Those who been to Vientnam and tried pho there, you will ended up start to crave for it. To find a nice bowl of pho is indeed quite hard in Malaysia. Is like finding the best Ramen in KL. However, one of the shop that I frequently visit is An Viet, the Gardens. They also recently expanded to An Viet, Pardigm Mall, PJ.

An Viet (2)

As re-opening of the outlet, we get to see a showcase how their signature meatball is made by their Vietnamese Head chef.

An Viet (3)

An Viet (5)

Some of the ingredients to showcase what ingredients are used for their soup base. They also use premium raw ribeye beef.

An Viet (12)

In their menu, you get to choose your noodle size. Usual serving is Normal. You can go less or you can go to large.

An Viet (8)

Not being adventurous yet want to try something signature on the menu, you can kick it off with An Viet Tasting Platter or you can order ala-carte appetizers to pair with your main dishes.

An Viet (7)

My usual bowl of noodle is always the mix. Serve with beef slices, meatballs and brisket.

An Viet (14)

For paradigm outlet, they do have their mini green house. Which usually they do have a pot of basil leaves set on each table, however in this outlet is you can pick the pot and bring it to your table.

An Viet (19)

The beef slices usually are cook half raw, as when you dip into the piping hot soup, then it will be just perfectly cooked.

An Viet (20)

For only beef slices noodle, you get to taste their soup more prominent.

pho

the half cook raw beef. Just perfect.

We end the meal with their signature  Vietffogato. Vietnamese coffee with coconut milk and ice cream. One of my favourite.

One of my favorite private hidden wine bar Private Room at TTDI had now change to Collins Sake and wine bar. A slight chance of concept to iron out their new route towards Japanese. Some good selection of Japanese Gin and Sake you can find in here with many of the Japanese Gin I have not seen before. Of course, you can still pick your selection of wine at the rack.

gin bar in kl

gin bar in pj

They classic Japanese Gin is quite awesome. IF you love variety of Japanese Gin in PJ area, they options are pretty alright. For ladies, you would definitely love the Sakurao Japanse Dry Gin or Yuzu Gin. These two are so easy to drink that the effect will knock you off direct. Both have its own fragrant.

gin bar

japanese gin

My personal favourite is this among the 3 we have tried. Okinawa Gin is in deed a classic yet unique. A flavour that not many will enjoy as it is quite strong and pungent after taste. A bit woody end. This is like drinking Isle whisky which is on the oaky side.

In Chinatown or known as Petaling Street in KL, is a place that used to be famous for a lot of nice eatery. However, most of them had turn into commercialize and taste had change over the years including China Town Seng Kee. Used to be one of a famous dinner place in Petaling Street or hotspot for after clubbing.

Seng Kee had been operating in this area for easily around 20-25 years.

China Town Seng Kee

after drinking at a hidden bar nearby, we decided to drop by this place to check em out again on the food as they are famous for a few dishes.

Seng Kee Chinatown (6)

The original founder of the place is left with this ah ma, where she sits in the shop most of the time. She build this place together with her husband. I forgot who was the chef, is either relative or son.

Claypot Lou Shu Fan

Claypot lou shu fan is one of their signature. flood with sea of mince pork and of course must topped with an egg. (this is upon request where many of their customers prefer not to have an egg) whyyyy????

Seng Kee Chinatown (8)

Another great dish that you should not miss is this Stir Fried Intestine which is one of their signature dish.. Fried with wok hei and it is punch with flavor on every bite. Chewy yet a bit of heat at the end as it is stir fried with chili padi.

Seng Kee Chinatown (9)

Seng Kee famous pork noodle

This is one of their famous dish. The Siew Yoke Mee (Roasted Pork Noodles). It is like a must order dish. The noodle is alright and Siew Yoke is not too bad. I still remember that the noodle sauce used to be darker and their siew yuk is more caramelize which is on the stickier side.

Seng Kee Hokkien Mee

The Kl version of Hokkien noodle is not too bad. Thick noodle which is not overcook and, cook to abit thick in sauce. As above, its quite like their must order item when you come to this stall.

Indeed the quality of cooking and food had dropped. But still decent enough to pay a visit whenever you feel like it. It is still here than better its close down. Support some local businesses to make them sustain is perfect.

If you are a traveler, I think it is worth to pay a visit here if you want some local stir fried street food in KL. Just my own opinion.

raya pullman (9)

raya pullman (5)

Ayam Masak Merah – turns out to be better than I expected. The spices and fragrant  with chili coated onto the chicken is pretty spot on. Soft and juicy.

Among the dishes highlight – I personally felt that Daging Rendang is one of the best dish among the rest. Thick enough and pack with spices to my liking. Mild after spiciness just to bring the flavour up is just perfect.
