Its been a while since you get some food which is umami. Hungry Bacon at Uptown Damansara in PJ is surprisingly one of them. An eatery run by husband and wife along with some of their family recipe is something to look after.

AS the name says, bacon as this restaurant is all about PORK!

hungry baconA cosy space for family and friends gathering. So are you a hungry bacon, stress bacon? DSCF3220hungry bacon menuMenu is not large but good enough for us to hunt. I was shared by the introductory of the menu and below are some of their signatures we ordered.hungry bacon drinksbacon roll

This is indeed very intersting when it was serve onto the table. Bacon Cones – stuffed with bacon chilli con carne &  topped with sour cream , cheese sauce, pico de galo, &  Jalapenos.

Creatively they presented it in a cones and if you do not realize it like my friends, they thought its actually a cone till I said no, its bacon wrap and perfectly baked till crispy. the flavors of this is burst with overwhelming flavors. I was told that this is their mini version of their signature best seller Nachos. One of a entree that certainly worth to order.
Definitely one of a buddy for beer.

Bacon Lolipops , Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Chicken drumettes on mayonnaise & bbq sauce. Slight twist from the classic to give you a layer of crips and porkie taste wrap over drumettes.western food in pjWild Boar Peratel , served with white bread and papadoms.

This is also a dish worth for you to discover. Eating itself without any sides, the flavour might be too strong. Best advise to go along with its toasted bread that turns the flavour well balance. First eat might be hit with strong flavours of spices and saltiness however with bread just balance that out. Love it serve in claypot as it still grill abit along the way. We endjoyed some of the burnt edges
pork nasi kerabu

This is not your usual Nasi Kerabu. This is one of their signature Nasi Kerabu with babi percik, blue pea flower rice with solok lada, salted egg, fresh ulam, fish cracker, budu, and sambal belacan.

Beware when you pour in the sauces. It is highly advise to pour in bits by bits to suits your palate. If you pour all into the plate, the taste will be too overpowering. After addin the sauces, mix well on the rice. The best is the fresh pork lard that is added that gives you a nice balance of crips, oil fragrant and herbs. A nice plate of piggy.

pork burger

Pork Burger with Bacon , 180 gram pork patty, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, caramelize onions, served with US potato fries. patty is grill nicely that did not overcook it. Soft and juicy while the cheddar gives the hint of saltiness it needed. NIce and well balance.

pork steak klMighty Tomahawk is only available limited portions a day. If you are looking for something unusual, then this is another dish you can hit after. Brined 48hours and lightly smoked then, slow grill to ensure the juiciness of the meat. best pork steak pj

As you cut thru the  meat, you know its soft and juicy. Each bite is even better if you put some garlic and the sauce on top with hint of smokiness, It gives another level of flavours.
western food in klbest lava chocolate cake

Ending our meals with high note as I have less expectation of this. Most of the people overcooked it till that the lava of chocolate is not Lava’ish.

Chocolate Lava , served with 40 licks vanilla ice cream. Love the bitterness and pair well with the ice cream.

Great start for new discovery of restaurant and certainly will come back to try some of other items in the menu, one of a nice fusion western food in PJ can aim for.

What a big news piece for MCO 2.0. One of a world best chef Gordon Ramsay will be operating one of his famous chains Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill at Sunway Resort KL. Making this the celebrated multi-Michelin starred chef and TV star’s first Malaysian restaurant. Looking at Sunway official page, it mentions that the restaurant will be starting to operate in June.

I certainly looking forward for his Beef Wellington in the menu and certainly, hopefully, cross finger it will be in there. Have been aiming this since the day I saw it in Hell’s Kitchen.

How often have you guys start dining out. ? Me quite often, whenever there is opportunity. Envi Skydining at Menara TA One or just right opposite KLCC had open its door back to public dining with careful social distancing among diners. Best of all, it is a place where you can dine in and enjoy your dinner at affordable price while enjoying the mighty tower Petronas Twin Tower, KLCC.

One of the latest hype brunch place is this Rise & Shine by Tapestry located in Chow Kit, KL that sits right opposite of Hotel Stripes KL. A place currently well known for its insta worthy brunch place in KL. A place is indeed crazy for long queue over the weekend. If you are here inbetween 9.30am – 3pm, do prepare to queue for at least 60-90 minutes.

Tapestry (9)

When it comes to food, there are hits and misses as alot people say it is over hyped and not worth it. I have different views as there are some items worth to order and some are not.

Tapestry (11)

Alot people are here for one of their well known signature dish – Rise & Shine Egg Drop @ RM 22 . Indeed I would rate this as a must order item. Filled with fluffy soft-scrambled free-range kampong eggs with cheddar, caramelised onions, sriracha aioli on a hot cross bun. We ordered both to try out and thinks that the normal one is suffieicient to hit a satisfaction spot. The Sarsi-glazed beef at Rm 8 does not do much impact on the taste.. – recommended

Tapestry (14)

Tapestry (10)

LINGUINE with battered edamame, seasonal vegetables, tomato stew, served with freshly grated Grana Padano choose to add lamb meatballs. For a simple dish as dish, they have done it well.

Tapestry (12)

As first we were skeptical on this dish as we already ordered most of the item. However most of us are still not full from the first round order and decided to make this FRIED CHICKEN as add on. Lightly-battered fried chicken brushed with honey sriracha glaze and served with a side of fries and fennel salad. turns out to be better than we expected. The glaze is good, fill with mild sweet, souries and bitter taste that suits on the sauce and also fried to perfection. – recommended

Tapestry (13)

Tapestry (15)

A typical breakfast for RISE & SHINE EGGS BENEDICT, on bubble and squeak, poached eggs and bunga kantan hollandaise. you also can choose one of the 3 options below:
1. Beetroot-cured salmon
2. Sarsi-glazed beef bacon
3. Halloumi (v) @ RM 28

Tapestry (16)

The rest of the dish below are all sub par or so so  such as:

MEATBALL SUB Lamb meatballs drenched in tomato stew finished with Grana Padano shavings on a sub roll served with onion rings @ RM 28

Tapestry (18)

FRENCH TOAST, with fresh berries, mixed berries compote, Earl Grey gula melaka (v)(s) choose to add Sarsi-glazed beef bacon or ice cream. A dish which is not too bad which I think at this price they could have do much better.

Tapestry (17)

Tapestry (20)

PANCAKES, with mixed berries compote, fresh berries, edible chocolate soil and Earl Grey gula melaka (v)(s) choose to add Sarsi-glazed beef bacon or Halloumi (v) @ RM 25. Pancake is dense and hard. not the fluffy type. Give this a pass if you can.

Tapestry (19)

Tapestry (21)

Love their coffee as we ordered total of 8 different glass as it was a big group of 10 of us for birthday celebration. flavourful Long Black @ RM 10 & Latte @ RM 13. Coffee is pretty good and we all agree to it

Tapestry (22)

Tapestry (23)

Cakes were alright as there were 4 options on that day.

Tapestry (24)

If you are looking for some nice brunch place to try in KL or a nice cafe to chill after 3pm, I overall think this is not too bad. But if to wait for 60-90 minutes for a table I would say it is kinda waste of time.

3 item if you are not sure what to order and I think it is worth to try for first timer are:

  1. Rise & Shine Egg Drop
  2. RISE & SHINE EGGS BENEDICT
  3. FRIED CHICKEN or Linguine

The rest will be depending on your personal taste bud and they might improve along the way.

Since there are variety of meats for you to dig in, remember to get some sauces to pair with. each of the sauces have their own uniquness. I quite like all 3 of them as pairs differently with each meat.

Bife (17)

end with some local delicacies for desserts.

Bife (19)

this is where my main section are, Fresh from the charcoal pit as you will be filled with plenty of meat from the server. Each server will move around the restarurant by bringing different cuts of meat. If there are any meat that you wish to have, you can always request them to bring over. Garlic beef is not to be missed.

Bife (20)

Just look at the juicy meat that had been charcoal grill properly. It is fragrant from the marination and perfectly cooked. My personal favourite is their lamb and the beef cut as below – Picanha:

A perfectly coooked beef that is medium rare. Eat it at it is, already pretty good.
