On our last night at Taipei, as we hurried back from our road trip to head for next plan that Tina had book this place for us a few days before it and I am looking forward for Taipei Nightlife as we usually seen in youtube or any media that its so happening.Ā Barcode Bar

The public transportation is so convinient that we can take the MRT to the nearest station that heading to Taipei 101 then its about 10 minutes walk from there where the club is nearby the area of Taipei 101.

Barcode

Pak had took his best dress in his luggage to be the best look for the night, purpose to take many pictures…

Barcode (2)

This is one of their latest shopping mall with its elegant classic build up.

Barcode (3)

The busy district of Taipei City for shopping area and nightlife. We reach the area around 10.30pm and the bar is located next to the purple neon light.

Barcode (4)

In this area they have 4-6 shopping malls link nearby that you can shop freelyĀ  . . .my next trip, I definately would want to spend more time heere and head to their club!

Barcode (5)

As what we have been told, Barcode is one of the finest and hottestĀ bar in the area and reservation of a table is a must as its mostly full house during weekend. Barcode is located on the 5th floor on Neo 19 Building which have a side entrance, a liftĀ directly up to the bar.

Remark: to enter this Bar, they have pretty strict dress code, is all guys must wear collar shirt, dress smart! Do call them up to check out more detail on the dress code!

Barcode (6)

As we were there pretty early, the bar is already all filled in . ..

Barcode (8)

I just love the interior of the bar, a porch area, read on a few review that the bartender in Barcode served very good cocktails, or they would prepare anythingĀ that you ask for youĀ shower you with the best drink.

Barcode (7)

As late at night, the people already flock the whole area to full house, with many standing at the side. . .

Barcode (9)

The DJ deck area is pretty cool and dress smart too.

Barcode (10)

another section that they have pool table for you to chill with your friends and a big screen TV to watch your favourite football match.

Barcode (11)

Not only that, they have another large indoor balcony area with another DJ playing in it, here is a bit warmer compare to our section and they doĀ  have another VVIP area I would say as a big guy bouncer standing infront of the entrance and block me as I do not have another chop. Can’t peek in there too as its block with a door.

Barcode (12)

The alcohol for the night that they order was Aberldy 12 years old Single Malt Scoth Whisky. The taste wise, I still prefer more on other brands like Glenmorangie, HighlandĀ Park andĀ Macallen which is still my all time favourite.

Barcode (13)

Pak is the happy man for the night with all the leng luis which is Tina and Eva’s friend joining along. . .

Barcode (14)

Me trying to adapt with Taiwanese Culture posing in pictures…:D

Barcode (15)

Nono and Jennifer with Eva’s Sister and Huang

Barcode (16)

Their best friend .. . is a great and crazy guy too. . .Ā  Met him during our 2nd night during Karaoke Session.

Barcode (17)

day 8

As we left Taipei City very early morning 7.30 am to this place with the journey ofĀ 1 hour and 30 minutes drive. A cloudy morning could not be even better for us under this hot spell. The journey to Taipei County was a pleasent one when about to reach the area, they sure do have a beautiful scenery.

day 8 (12)

day 8 (13)

Lets head to the main attraction of the area which is the Queen’s Head

day 8 (14)

Its quite a walk from the main entrance to all the way to the end of the park.

day 8 (15)

The human compas. . .

day 8 (16)

This is the famous Queen’s Head, only will get a great view if you look it at certain angel. From the front view, it just look like a normal erode rocks. What we got to know that, this rock is falling apart soon with strong sea breeze and it is just the matter of time and yearsĀ  . .. Just take your chance to visit this place while its still standing tall in there.

day 8 (17)

After the first visit of the park we head to this great park YICF 2010 which had last been organize 4 years back during the summer time. Now the new local Yilan Goverment had bring this back to life to promote on their local tourist destination area with the theme Yilan International Children’s Folklore and Folkgame Festival. More like a family gateaway during this hot summer time!

day 8 (18)

In Taiwan, any places is all always about walking, it really give you a good fat burning. From Carpark walk into the main area takes about 5-10 minutes at it is a very big park.

day 8 (19)

this is the entree free for the festival.

day 8 (20)

This is how big the park is.. . . we took about 45 minutes to walk 1 whole round and you just imagine how big it is. It covers alot of area and I sure do wish Malaysia do have something like that on seasonal. Sure going to be very fun and a great boost for our local destinations also.

day 8 (21)

These is what the have for the park with build up a big area with pond and every 1 just get soak wet and great RnB music and dance track played all day long. IT is like a day party. Then on the 3rd picture, its a ghost house in wet version. So tempted to go in but once go in, we all are just going to be very wet coming out as we did not bring any extra clothings.

day 8 (24)

this is what I mean a family great gateway.. . . Feels so Japan in the summer with white sea of umbrella spreading accross the area.

day 8 (22)

Then they do have international cultural performance for the kids and parents to participate. This sure going to bond all the family members.

day 8 (23)

A big bridge walk way for you to overlook the whole park.

day 8 (25)

I just so love this little cafe. Simple and nicely decorated.

day 8 (26)

Some local performance along the way.

day 8 (27)

For kids area, they can dance around with the stage performer, take lots of picture with them. . . or

day 8 (28)

you can let your kids sit in this section, let them sit down and do some paiting on al this cute handicraft.

day 8 (29)

Kids zone also have alot of outdoor things to do, with mini flying fox, burst up balloon area, little moutain climbing, and many more

day 8 (32)

Next destination is we head to one of the main fisherman village that had used to be main fisherman port for Taiwan, with lots of sea vassel park in the area and huge rock build infront of the dock to prevent on the Typhoon.

day 8 (33)

As all of us were quite hungry, then Auntie introduce us this place which is quite pack with people, serve nice food with very reasonable price.

day 8 (34)

Guess what is this. . . .? This is the Fish eye! and you just guess how big the fish is going to be with such a big eyeball.

day 8 (35)

The restaurant is pack with people or I guess is because school holiday, with many people visiting the place.

day 8 (36)

This drink is definately refreshing with my favourite apple that have a bit of the skin and nata de coco alike jelly in there. IT is not too sweet too.

day 8 (37)

day 8 (38)

The food here is awesomely good, most of it very aromatic just that we find the noodle is quite plain. Total damage per pax is around NT300 for 8 which we find it is a pretty good deal for such a big portion.

day 8 (39)

This squid had been steam then put in fridge for a while till its chill and the skin is so chewy by dipping with wasabi is taste sooo good!

day 8 (40)

Done with the meal, we are heading to the temple .

day 8 (41)

day 8 (42)

As we were told that the one of the statue is made of crystal, that overlook all the fisherman to protect them during their journey out when fishing out in the sea. That is what the locals believe.

day 8 (43)

This is where one of the main statue is located. . . .

day 8 (44)

Next destination, we were brought by Auntie to the local souvenir shop to make a take away back for our friends and relatives.

day 8 (45)

As this shop is famous for the ‘Dry Duck Meat’ that you MUST buy back to eat. . . . The price is average and the whole pack is air tight that makes it last quite some time before you open it.

day 8 (46)

This is the famous duck meat in this shop. They have duck meat, duck liver and a few more other stuff, besides that they do sell some other local products that is very reasonable in price too.

day 8 (47)

day 8 (48)

When I saw this building at traffic light, then I thought who would want to build such a weird house up there, then the aunty answer me that, that house is a huge bird nest.. .. Then we were like woah, what a nice build up house for birds. More like to harvest bird nest I guess.

day 8 (49)

2 blocks away from the same strech of that shop, we reach this cake shop which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you to come if you do come to YI Lan City! I guess this place is called Cake Nobel shop cuz I do not know how to reach chinese.

day 8 (50)

What they are famous for? They are famous for their very own style of Swiss Roll which is a MUST buy item in there.

day 8 (51)

Their Signature Item, Swiss Roll Strawberry, which have really fresh strawberry in there and the taste of it, the outerlayer of the roll cake is so soft and the cream is not too thick yet its just perfectly nice to go along with the whole awesome flavour.

day 8 (52)

They have so many flavours and if I do stand a chance I would really want to buy back but it was meant to eat it fresh and can last 2 days. By the time I bring back to Malaysia its already spoil.

day 8 (53)

Their testing plate and one thing I love about Taiwan FnB industry is that most of the retailers are very generous in giving out their item for food tasting. You see the size of it, its quite a huge chunk and they seriously do not mind you to stand there and just eat it like that a few (if you do not feel embaress la).

day 8 (54)

One of my favourite is the YamĀ  . .. . .

day 8 (55)

With lots of creamy cream yogurt base like that. ..Ā  It wont make you ‘jelak’ and I can seriously finish this whole roll by myself without any problem!

day 8 (56)

And I just love their packaging. . .Ā  so Creatively design . . . Do bare in mind that their Swiss Roll are selling like hot cakes and I do even see a guy buy 20rolls.

day 8 (57)

We just bought a few just to eat for the night.

day 8 (58)

Other item that selling in there.

day 8 (59)

We love their bread range too, smells so nice and the bread are creatively design which their bread size and flavours are quite unique.

day 8 (60)

This is the map on how to get there, and its pretty near the train station. Its a shop that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you are in that area.

One of the thing that we are looking forward to after a long stroll at the Aborigines Park in Taiwan(click here), we were told that Tina and Eva had already book a very nice restaurant for dinner which served their specializing hot and spicy Sichuan cuisine.Ā Kiki Restaurant is rated one of the best around the area.

kiki

As I was told by Tina that this famous restaurant chain is own by their famous local celebrity Singer and TV host Lan Xin Mei that can only be found in Taipei District. Tina had book this restaurant few days ahead to ensure we get a place in this restaurant which RESERVATION is a must before you head here.

kiki (2)

This building had 3 story and the whole building is fully packed with people. Shows that they do have a serious good business. Their contemporary design with unfancy orangy lighting with wooden and nice chairs to make all of us comfy to dine in the restaurant.

kiki (3)

While we were at Sun Moon Lake we saw this great souvenir to get and give to this 2 great new friends Tina and Eva to thank them for spending so much time with us while we are there. We gave them a token of appreciation of NT 1 mil that shared by me and PakĀ .. .hahaha. . . .

kiki (5)

kiki (6)

kiki (7)

3 of them are just as funny as they are, we had good laughter and crap all the way.

*This post will be alot of pictures –Ā Farmosan Aboriginal Cultural Village (ä¹ę—ę–‡åŒ–ę‘)

WhenĀ you are on holiday, time seriously pass very fast and its nearĀ to the end of our trip already which is the 7thĀ day now. After relaxing on this wonderfull lake side for the night,(click here) Ā waking up very early today trying to catch the sunrise but unfortunally we didnt manage to do it because it was raining, was very dissapointed, cuz this lake had one of the best sunrise view.

day 7 (2)

The hotel that we chose comes with a breakfast, and this is the Taiwanese style breakfast with porridge. It is seriously simple and good! I end up having 3 bowls of porridge with this ingredient. Mild in taste which makes it a perfect day to start off with.

day 7

For the day – we heading toĀ Taiwan famous Farmosan AboriginalĀ Cultural Village (ä¹ę—ę–‡åŒ–ę‘).Ā Ā It just cost:

day 7 (3)

From our hotel, it takes about 10 minutes walk to the cable car station which the cultural village is located the other side of the hill.

Another day by gone and the days in Taiwan sure do pass by very fast and its on our 6th day on our trip and have to wake up early today not to miss the bus ride to Nantou County’s Yuchih Township, heading to one of a beautiful place, Sun Moon Lake as we will be overnight at that place and heading to Aboriginal Village the next day.

Day 6

Waking up around 7am to get ready had a simple breakfast and head to Taipei Bus Station which is located directly opposite Taipei Main Railway Station.

Day 6 (2)

Our bus ticket to Taichung cost NT150 with around 2 hours bus ride which is pretty cheap compare to our trip from KL to Ipoh.

Day 6 (3)

A double deck bus is used all around Taiwan for safety purposes.

Day 6 (4)

Let me tell you one great thing about Taiwan tourism is that all the destinations that we are heading, the will play the main tourist attraction or place of interest to visit in that final end destination and we sure do have a clear idea where to head to when reach there.

Day 6 (5)

Day 6 (6)

Here we are, after we took a 2 hours power nap and we are in Taichung City. Another big and busy town.

Day 6 (7)

As we were walking away from the main bus station, then at first we wanted to take public transportation, Bus to Sun Moon Lake and realise that the time travel is longer by 1 hour and opted taking taxi by each of us paying NT70 difference and arrive 1 hour earlier which is around NT200 per pax

Day 6 (8)

Hop onto the taxi and heading our way to the beautiful scenic destination.

Day 6 (9)

By reaching our final destination afterĀ 3 hours ride, here we are at Sun Moon Lake.

It was the 5th day on our trip (day 4 click here) and we had a slight change of plan in our schedule that we should visit this place, Window of China and all agree to visit this place which located at Taoyuan. Again we had been waking up early every day around 7.30 am to head for new destination and exploration. We took MRTĀ  to Zhongli Railway Station, then you can continue by Hsinchu Bus (bound for Leofoo Village & Window on China Theme Park) to the park but we have optedĀ pre-arrange cab to pick us up at the train station to Window on China with total journey around 1 n half hour from Taipei Main Station. Another option you can go isĀ by taking a high speed rail bullet train from Taipei to Taoyuan station.

d 5

d 5 (2)

The taxi guy is very very friendly, telling us all about Taiwan and what are other places of interest to go. After a few days here, I find that most of them are very friendly yet very informative. A good way for Taxi to promote their local destinations also.

d 5 (3)

Not long after that, we reached Window on China Theme Park and there are alot of cars going in as the school holiday just started. Most of the family would want to bring their children here, as not only you get to see minature building most of northen Taiwan but also there are a theme park in it. In the Theme Park also have the tallest fume ride with 12th story high, Taiwan’s first 360 degree spinning “Rocking Boat,Ā  and many more. (click here for details)

d 5 (4)

For Entry it cost NT499 each which you can check it out more at this website Taiwan Themepark

d 5 (5)

They are so cute that dress in Doraemon in the theme park world and if you do follow the comic. . .

d 5 (6)

You can buy the mini helicopter hair band to fly around the park . .:D

d 5 (7)

When we reach, a cultural dance is going on in Taiwanese Art Folk Center.

d 5 (8)

Then we walked in to the world of Xiau Ren Guo which is the other meaning of Window on China.

d 5 (9)

you can see how minature the building is. Most of them are all the historical building build around the world.

Window on China Theme Park has the tallest water flume ride in Asia. It is 12 stories high, and it is very exciting and scary. In addition, there are many different rides in the amusement park such as “Thunder Rain”, “Nile beach”, Taiwan’s first 360 degree spinning “Rocking Boat, cute “Strawberry Ferry Wheel”, “Flying Planes”, “Jumping Stars”, etc. European Castle Amusement Park is a kids’ favorite. No matter rain or shine, kids can enjoy themselves there.

It has more than 20 rides such as kids’ favorite “Merry-Go-Around”, Taiwan’s only indoor roller coaster, crazy UFOs, Bumper Cars, and so on. There are many varied and interesting rides in the park. (source from Welcome to Taiwan)

d 5 (47)

On the way heading out we were recommended on this brand of Taiwan Muarchi which is seriously good. Recommended if you do come here.

d 5 (48)

Overall I find that, the only main attraction that attract me very much is the Doraemon World, I would recommend to go other places of interest if you do have the time as there is nothing much to see, or maybe I went to the Shenzen Window of China before which is much bigger and nicer that makes me think like that.

If you are looking for more ThemePark Attraction around Taiwan, this website certainly helps us to plan the trip, Themepark

After the tour, Ian’s girlfriend plan to visit back her town when she used to study at Taiwan, then we head to Taoyuan townĀ for makan makan (food hunt), as we were inform by the auntie that there is a lot of nice food to offer there.

d 5 (49)

Our very first stop of the place is this desert shop which is highly recommended by the auntie, Meet Fresh as when I first saw this shop it instantly link me to our local famous Taiwanese desert, Snowflakes is because both of them have veryĀ  similar concept.

d 5 (50)

The concept started off withĀ a old-fashioned sweets-filled upbringing on a farm in Taichung County’s Fengyuan, a pair of siblings decided to open up a candy shop to share their sweet talent with city dwellers. Johnson Fu and Ms. Fu, a brother-and-sister team, create nostalgic treats with fresh taro and other natural ingredients. All of their sweets are handmade without chemical additives and are cooked right in the store on a daily basis. Their creations include flavors like taro jelly, bean jelly, grass jelly, and several different teas (NT$30-50). The siblings recommend their grass jelly drink, which has a very smooth texture. –By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee (source from Taiwanfun)

This desert shop is so famous that now it had around 130 outlets just in Taiwan itself and become a legend of the Two Elders

d 5 (51)

This place is a hit among many Taiwanese and they had a few branches around Taiwan Country and now had extended as far asĀ SydneyĀ which Grabyourfork blog about it..

d 5 (52)

The price is definately reasonable with the portion of it and range is more than Snowflakes.

d 5 (53)

d 5 (54)

d 5 (55)

d 5 (56)

For taste wise, the taste is abit mild compare to Snowflakes as they had edit according to our local taste bud. This is their famous signature desert with taro, red bean, grass jelly and finely shave ice at the bottom.

d 5 (58)

d 5 (59)

Then the auntie went to tapau for us a famous fried chicken for us that is famous in the neighbourhood but I still find that on the first day what we eat is better. (click here)

d 5 (60)

Taste not bad, crispy, as I love mine spicy and have to eat it while its hot.

d 5 (61)

After our lunch, aunty brought us to her brother’s shop that operating Taiwan Bubble Tea which is few doors away.

d 5 (62)

With a small booth like that can operate one good bubble tea stall.

d 5 (63)

Their top 5 recommended drinks for the stall.

d 5 (64)

d 5 (65)

Both that working in here are her cute niece.

d 5 (66)

d 5 (67)

Of course we definately will go for their Original classic Milk Tea with Pearl and Winter Melon with Pearl. I would just say this is so far one of the best bubble tea that we have come accross so far. Very nice aromatic tea brewery and the best is the pearl, chewy- not too solid yet soft which as our liking. . .We just non stop sucking and chewing it.

d 5 (68)

Under this hot weather, with this drink definately is satisfying.

d 5 (69)

We head to next stall accross the street that sells this fried item.

d 5 (73)

This is the shop number and if you can find this shop, you will be able to find the fried chicken also.

d 5 (71)

This is where the Taiwan fried chicken stall is located, which I do not really know how to find in the map, I am very sorry for the location but I got scolded because of taking her stall as she do not want to be in any media.

d 5 (72)

Police cars that look pretty Chinese.

d 5 (74)

After all those, we were all very very very seriously full but the auntie still want us to eat by bringing us to this shop that serve good soup and fried dumpling.

d 5 (75)

d 5 (76)

d 5 (78)

Sour and Hot soupĀ  .. .

d 5 (79)

With a choice of many taste you can mix and match with it.

d 5 (80)

I love this fried dumpling with the skin is thin and fried on one side. The filling inside is solid with meat and a bit cripsy thing which is not water chestnut. . Dip with a bit vinegar and chili oil, taste awesome.

We took an hour bus back to the city, went back to hotel, load in more cash into our wallet as we are heading to warzone destination which I would say a shopping paradise for women.

*remark – Girls, if you do come here, please load yourself with cash! If not you will regret walking out from here and most of the girls came here, did kena a serious damage in purse.

Wufenpu is our next destination, know as a garment wholesale shopping paradise that all the seller here do sell in lose pack and if you would want to buy in bulk definately you will get cheaper price compare to all of us. For girls that love to shop, this place is definately a Big RECOMMENDED place to all of you. For guys, I am sad to say that its quite limited but we still can find something out of here as I feel that 70% for girls 30% for guys. For us as a guy, I did ended up with a few pieces of nice pants and t-shirts which is quite a bargain compare to Malaysia.

If you get Wufenpu by MRT (Kunyang Line) fromĀ Taipei Main StationĀ – Get off at the Houshanpi Station (Exit 4) and walk about five minutes west along Yongji Street to the corner of ZhongpoĀ N. Rd..

d 5 (81)

Here’s a premium shopping trip for you: know that in Taipei “value for money” in clothing and accessories means the Wufenpu Garment Wholesale Area . Located in the eastern part of Taipei City, here your tourist dollar travels far.

The literal translation of “Wufenpu” is “five parcels of open land,” indicating that in pioneering days the first Chinese settlers bought up a large plot here in modern Taipei’s Songshan District in a group of five. To today’s Taipei residents, however, the place name is synonymous with a renowned wholesalers’ district stuffed to the brim with quality inexpensive clothing and related adornments — and stuffed with happy bargain-hunters most every day. It is now rightfully gaining recognition on the tourist map as well. (source from Taiwan Touch your Heart)

The place is quite huge and most of the girls here can spend just half day shopping in this place. So take your time and have fun burning your pocket.

Me I am a happy shopper here at last that I manage to find my nice not so camera bag in this area which I totally like the quality and good bargain.

By shopping half way, we did stop by to Farmosa Chang which is famous for Nu Rou Fan (mince pork rice) around the area for a satisfying dinner (click here) and continue shopping back after that.

By walking too much in the wholesale area, makes us reach back our homestay around 12 am which we took the last MRT ride and feeling very hungry when reach back our place. Then head to our favourite 7-11 store which we hang out here every night to buy food and beer back. The orange juice taste so pure is like 90% blend fresh yet thick in flavour. Umph ah! then the instant noodle have mince pork cubes as the add in flavour turns to be one of our favourite supper now.

My favourite drink before I go to bed, Big bottle of Taiwan Beer is so cheap that cost around NT32 for 1 bottle which is RM3.20 for 1. Love the lager taste of it and for a local beer, definately I am recommending it~

Its time to sleep early and will go to my Day 6 itenery soon which is Sun Moon Lake which mesmerise us of the scenic view!
