Traditional Malay cuisine at Songket Restaurant @ Jalan Yap Kwan Seng

Virgin Mojito, White Hibicus @ RM15

Cucur Udang @ RM10 is a snack that I usually that I would ‘ta-pau’ for my tea time which is actually, deep fried prawn and vegetable strips in light batter then add in alot of chili sauce. In Songket, they make it very cripsy from outside and very soft inside then dip with their homeamde chili is absolutely delicious.

Pegedil @ RM10 is actually Fried potato patties with minced chicken, served with homemade chilli sauce and as the meat is still moist. Just nice. . .

Besides that 2 snack, in Malaysia street snack Satay is a must try or have as for 8 huge juicy skewers of chicken and Beef flavour that marinated in spiced honey @ RM18, it was perfectly grilled over the fire as the meat is soft and the peanut sauce is a bit thick and spicy just add the kicks in it ..

We often eat Nasi Lemak that is white in colour yet I have come across anything green which makes it Pandan Nasi Lemak @RM6. a very fragrant plate of nasi lemak that cook along with lots of pandan leaves to make it green and the rice is a bit dry, filled with aromatic pandan flavor and quite ‘Lemak’ (filled with coconut milk to cook along makes it lemak)

As I tried once in food court on Nasi Kerabu it was blue in colour, however in Songket is different in style that they did it white rice tossed with finely chopped raw vegetables and herbs@ RM8

Among those 3, I love Nasi Minyak the best as it is simple, very fragrant yet (minyak in malay means oil)  not oily. .Stood bu itself with the Acar is already nice to finish the whole plate by myself. .  RM6

Pucuk Paku Goreng – Wild fern shoots stir fried with chili, shallot and garlicRM15 certainly pairs very well with my Nasi Minyak, as the vegetabl was fried till very fragrant and a bit of wok hei and spicy . .

Ikan Bakar Kuah Percik  – red snapper fillet marinated with turmeric and ginger, chargrilled and drizzled with a spiced coconut gravy is also one of my favourite as the fish meat is soft and a bit burn taste on the side that goes on very well with the gravy.  RM36

The best of all, or star of the night is this Rusuk Panggang @ RM60 – Chargrilled marinated short ribs served with pegedil, spicy sweet soy sauce and sambal belacan. The meat is so juicy and soft and just by using fork you are able to clean the whole piece of meat easily . Its a must try in Songket – Recommended!

Kerabu Mangga is sweet, sour and a bit of spicy @ RM12,  young mango salad tossed in a spicy homemade dressing

Masak Lemak Ayam Nangka – Chicken pieces & young jackfruit simmered in a rich and spicy turmeric curry @ RM23

Masak Lemak Udang Nanas , fresh prawns are cook along and I like the soupy taste of it with hint of pineapple in it as u further dig up from the base you can see chunks of pinapple ..@ RM45

This grilled chicken is also one of my liking that grill along with herbs and spices that makes it juicy inside out, that makes grills till chicken meat is soft then dip with the sauce is good!

Korma Kambing – Braised lamb shank in a mildly spiced gravy with potatoes that pairs very well with any of the 3 rice available .. RM55.

Durian Tiramisu @ RM15

I have never come across on my favourite desert to be made of durian, as it is something new to me, while you putting in mouth you can even get to bite or chew some of the durian flesh.

Pandan Pudding is one of my favourite too, that its very fragrant.

Coconut Cream Caramel –  Cream pudding of coconut milk with caramel syrupRM10
