Taiwan Trip Day 6 – Sun Moon Lake (日月潭)

Sun Moon is the largest body of water in Taiwan as well as a tourist attraction. Situated in Yuchih, Nantou, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu. The east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the name. (source from wikipedia)

Sun Moon Lake is located 748 m (2,454 ft) above sea level. It is 27 m (89 ft) deep and has a surface area of approximately 7.93 km2 (3.06 sq mi). The area surrounding the lake has many trails for hiking.

While swimming in Sun Moon Lake is usually not permitted, there is an annual 3-km race called the Swimming Carnival of Sun Moon Lake held around the Mid-Autumn Festival each year. In recent years the participants have numbered in the tens of thousands. Other festivities held at the same time include fireworks, laser shows, and concerts.

The lake and its surrounding countryside have been designated one of thirteen National scenic areas in Taiwan. Wen Wu Temple (文武廟) was built after rising water levels from building a dam forced several smaller temples to be removed. Ci En Pagoda (慈恩塔) was built by late President Chiang Kai-shek in 1971 in memory of his mother. Other temples of note include Jianjing Temple, Syuentzang Temple and Syuanguang Temple. Seriously, the tourist information area had been really helpfull and they can even help you to arrange for accomodation when you are there. Cost of accomodation charge from NT700 – NT8000. Of course the cheaper one’s you have to book very early to enjoy it. In Taiwan, the cheap one’s are very clean and nice too.

We choose to be part of our itenerary is to relax ourself and tie ourself with beauty of nature and soak ourself just like that.

The small town up in the hill is very merry too, with alot of souvenir shops as this destination is one of the main tourist attraction too.

Walking to the pier to wait for our boat to transfer us to another side of the lake to do our check-in’s.

While waiting, we are very hungry and of course will take some of local snacks delight. Taiwan Sausages which is very chewy and taste awesome. I had 3 of this with orignal flavor.

Another delicious snack, fried mushroom with mine i add extra hot, and trust me, it was gone within minutes this cup. So purchase another 3 more.

The owner of the shop being very friendly keep thank you us as we kept praising how good the snacks are. Lol

Pak also had one by himself.

Drinks, needless me to promote, when I drink it, I directly pass it to them and all of them also order the same thing. Honey, lemon lime with white pearl. Gosh, under this hot weather, this is what we need!

 

Heading to the pier and this is where the beautiful lake is situated. A seriously BIG lake!

Welcome to Sun Moon Lake. .  When comes to this very nice place, only one thing we must do. Photoshoot!

When we saw this place, and also a pre-wedding photoshoot going on, we were so excited that we can just take a lot of pics here all day long and what we felt that the best weather to come here for photoshoot is autumm or spring with perfect weather and nice clear scenery instead of summer hot like crazy. For those who plan to do a photoshoot, definately here is one of the place to consider in Taiwan.

The first stop for the day will be at this Wen Wu Temple (文武廟).

One of the most expensive hotel on the island according to the ship captain which is usually newly weds will come here for their honeymoon. Great hotel rooms and environment according to her.

See, they even tell us that they are famous till google can search for them with keyword, Sun Moon Lake Egg which had been operating for more than 100 years I guess 1893 is since from that year till now. . 😀

The business is so good that every one just buy more than 1.
