KAPE 카페 at Kepong is one of a cafe in KL that has “so called” Korean cafe. I honestly thought it was run by Koreans and got excited to go over to check it out. when reach and the language transpire is in mandarin, so I was like oh, Korean Concept.

to me as for Korean Concept cafe, 2 things must get right. Toast and long black.

Interior is something very simple. Near to full white.

cafe in klby picture itself, since it looks more tempting, decided to go with Korean Street Toast, If i am not mistaken it is RM 18. I must say the smell certainly is inviting and One of a better toast that I have come across. Certainly do carry the Korean vibe as it carry strong flavors. with Spam and kimchi egg is certainly something very appetizing – recommended
coffee in kepongThen for me of course must go with Long Black, as that’s that Korean mostly drink on. It is more on the acidic side and it is decent la.

the Lemon Butter Cake is not too bad. moist enough to go as a while set .

KAPE 카페It is not located at the main road as you need to spot Baskin Robin, then side walk next to it. Not a bad cafe for Kepong people to hunt for or even cafe hop. Price is medium range.

Bichii Coffee is indeed a hidden gem in Sungai Buloh. Tug in out of no where in this industrial architecture is pretty interesting. The owner started it off as a photostudio then now tune a notch up with a cafe as part of it. It is a hidden cafe in KL for this.

cafe in kepong The cafe is beautifully decorated with style and alot of corners can be ootd. With only limited space, we have to make reservation for sit in. Best do share to them where you prefer to sit. They have indoor and outdoor. For nice picture, I find that outdoor is more cool, as it is set up with like Camping look and feel at the balcony corner. It is also good that can consider Cafe in Kepong for Kepong folks to drive over.

Bichii Coffee menuCoffee here is pretty decently good for a cafe in Sungai Buloh, that you do not have to travel all the way to KL or PJ. They take beans from a few supplier and one of them is Beans Brother. They changed bean every month. So it could be you like the beans today could be different on next visit.

Recently I see alot of influencers featuring this cafe in UNDERWOOD Bakers Restaurant & Coffee in  Bukit Bintang.  Also, it is not really in Bukit Bintang,  actually behind  Havana  Bar & Grill in  Changkat Bukit Bintang.  Been a while since I last do Cafe Hopping.DSCF6416

Lets go to food. Usually in a menu, anything with broiche i will certainly order. french toastthis is  Eggy Brioche Toast @ RM  28. French toast, beef bacon, coffee caramel, berries, crumbs and mascarpone. coffee caramelOh  well,  do  not  think this dish can go wrong. French toast like undercook that make it like pudding texture. Abit eggy taste (could be to suits its menu name). Coffee Caramel is nice but overall flavour is not balance. It is very separated. ice coffee latte Then Ice Latte @ RM 14 which is slightly on the high side. I believe they are using Arabica beans as the first sip is heavy burnt taste and single dimension. Cinnamon Danish @ RM 7. Its not fresh and its hard!  wood fire pizza Then I saw wood fire pizza stove, pizza should be great as its a sourdough pizza series.

UNDERWOOD Baker's Restaurant & CoffeePizza  ordered half & half to try out flavours : Truffle Mushroom & Trio Meat @ RM 38
Pizza dough is good as it is done wood fire oven. However the base of truffle mushroom was too salty for me and Trio meat jalapeno is not spread evenly with alot  lumps of it.

Overall, a great place for ambiance only. Ambiance 4/5. Food 1/5. One of a new cafe in KL 2022.

Nah nah nah, this is only on my taste bud. Please do not take me as a guideline. please do go try yourself as Google review they got 4.2 star ya. Could be also suitable for those of you have strong palate.

I was a happy boi when I found out that Kuke Desserteriecan at Desa Sri Hartamas can order cake by slices or even their whole cake.. They are local baker that run by passionate husband and wife that focus on their extraordinarily local flavours.

They do not have actual shop as their cakes are bake fresh daily and even pre-orders to delivery you their best fresh quality cakes.

They have wide range of selection for single slice ordering. Feel free to explore more. https://bit.ly/KukeCakes

They have a few flavours which is local inspired and to my surprise, my personal favourite is both their local inspired flavours.

kuke cakes

Puteri Jendol @ RM 17 indeed taste like cendol which is also one of their best seller. A cake that is soft and fluffy on both top and bottom yet a slightly dence creamy that holds the cendol on the middle. As your fork punch thru the cake, the fragrant of the cake comes out together. Top is pandan and bottom base with gula melaka base. Best it is not too sweet .

black glutinous rice

My next recommended flavour is also their one of their best seller which is also local inspired. The most interesting is this Hitam Manis @ RM 17 which is from our Chinese thong sui. “Hak Loh Mai” . It do resembles near to the dessert. Surprisingly good. IT sounds weird and looks weird at first but trust me. A bite of this will get you addicted to continue. (that is for me). As I finish both slices of Puteri Jendol and Hitam Manis myself.

mont kiara

Burnt Cheese Cake I find it better than many available out there also. Of course there are alot of versions on how they make and depends on what you like. I like slightly burnt outside with top and bottom is slightly hard and middle is moist. This is how they make it. The Saint @ RM 17

Honolulu @ RM 17

hartamas

Last 2, is 5 shades of chocolate @ RM 17 as some of my friends ordered this and they love it. It is really 5 layers of different chocolate with 1 layer a mix chocolate in it. It is rich yet not too dense but just nice. You have both hint creamy and bitterness from the choclate. Layered well in flavours.

Triple C @ RM 17 is like I called the unique version of carrot cake. That’s how I interpret it. a hit of cinnamon and a nice mix of bites in it.

Feel free to explore more. https://bit.ly/KukeCakes

I am sure many of you know this famous Therefore Cafe for their instagramable place in Menara Symphony, PJ. A cafe that have nice pink frontage that captures many of our attention. Yet their food is a local fusion kind of menu that bring it a notch up to your not so usual cafe dining.

My usual will be Latte to kick start.

Tex-Mal nangka nachos, with a local twist, I think this is pretty impressive for me.  A dish that I think I would recommend to order as it is topped with tortilla chips with shredded jackfruit. An Asian-style salsa, guacamole, sour cream and cheese sauce @ RM 20

Sistem Buttermilk : @ RM 29 – boneless chicken breast roulade deep fried with seasoned flour batter, served with a creamy curried buttermilk sauce, sweet potato fries and mesclun salad.

And soft shell crab topped with waffle. I think its a dish that try too hard.

Overall, food and price tag okok la. This place do capture a few regular but overall food there are some hit and misses as everyone’s palate is different.

The Hub in SS2 seems to be the new flock of F&B joint with tons of cafe are now fully operating in this new area that creating a long beelines among your favourite cafe. I have read quite a few reviews on Flakes in The Hub SS2 and decided to give it a try.

cafe in pj

This is one of a cafe in PJ that famous for is their croissant. Their sweet series seems to be quite tempting.

Flakes (4)

Flakes (5)

Under this new norm, it took us 30 minutes to get a spot here over the weekend.

Flakes (6)

It is full house, and it is quite noisy where the ceiling is low and no carpet in between. So be prepare to talk louder than another table. weekdays will be peaceful here.

Flakes (7)

Try one of their sweet series – Pistachio. RM 9 if not mistaken

Flakes (8)

Flakes (9)

Flakes (10)

Flakes (11)

It seems that their signature is avocado and egg mash. Nothing to shout about, where you can just grab a croissant of the shelf and make it at home. RM 23 if not mistaken

Flakes (12)

For their pulled beef series and caramelize, onion is also the same. (RM 18 if not mistaken)

Both 3 of the croissant is not flaky as many written out there and also quite disappointing. It is bad to read reviews that create high expectation and come out with disappointment.

ss2 hub

Overall that I find the croissant series is so so only over the hype that had been created. Not flaky, fragrant and seems like bake twice. It could be not my choice of croissant and of course to many of you out there. this place is out for me. Certainly there are better cafe in PJ.
