Pan Mee no longer is a stranger to most of us and even some of you guys loving it with the original taste especially with the hand kneaded it out from the flour as that would be the authentic style, that I like  Ah Tee or Jojo Pan Mee. As now, more people are eating healthily, and I got so surprise that when I heard about this shop, House of Ceggo Food Station that located inside Taman Desa it’s a must go for me to try it out, with their unique preparation of soup base and cooking style of Pan Mee.

Ceggo

This shop is not hard to be located which is directly inside the whole stretch of shoplot.

Ceggo (2)

To me, the first feeling is more like those Hong Kong style cafe as what we seen in TVB with those push door and glass panel with two big chinese wordings on the glass panel.

Ceggo (3)

‘Lemon Grass Drink’ as I never really like the taste of the lemon grass but suprisingly the taste is not that strong as it taste quite fragrant and I end up having two glass of it.

Ceggo (4)

As I mention with those Hand Peeled or Hand Kneaded is one of the authentic way to prepare this Pan Mee but as the picture shown in the menu for the types of Noodle available, its quite cute for its description.

Ceggo (5)

Ceggo (6)

‘Fried Sui Kau’ Deep fried with solid mince meat, mix with small chunks of water chestnut, and some finely chopped spinach is good, crispy on the skin and dip with chili sauce is always the best.

Ceggo (7)

We start off with ‘Aunthentic Pan Mee’ which you can order with Hand Peel which is hand peeled from a big chunk of flour or

Ceggo (8)

Flat Rolled noodle as shown in the pictures.

Ceggo (9)

Next that got served, which really caught my interest is the ‘Tomato Pan Mee’ with most of the ingredient added on are the same which is anchovies, mince chicken meat, fried Tau Kee and the most important is the tomato soup base. Rich in flavor that create a bit thick milky taste and the noodle is perfectly cook, I just love it as it had the similar taste like Spaghetti Bolognese but appear in soup version – Recommended

Ceggo (10)

‘Ma Lat (Extra Spicy) Pan Mee’ that we got deceived by the fiery red colour of it and thought that it would be extremely spicy, but it turns out to be a bit of sour and spicy level which is not that Spicy to me and the rest.

Ceggo (12)

Another star of the night is ‘Pumpkin Pan Mee’ that I have always love pumpkin soup but now it had add in noodle and its not that milky and thick in taste as the soup serve purely in the restaurant as this had some modification that makes it blend very well with the soup base and the noodle. – Recommended

Ceggo (13)

If you are yam lover then you would want to miss their ‘Yam Pan Mee’ that used huge piece of yam cook inside the soup then cut into pieces to serve along with noodle and you just imagine, the yam fragrance and the soup did taste a bit ashy from the long boiled yam in the stove. Good Soup base I would say.

Ceggo (14)

Opt for something healthy or you dont feel well on that day, ‘Spinach Pan Mee’ is the one you are going after with finely chopped spinach that blend with flour and it is more like 80% pure of veggie in it that serve along with authentic soup base.

Ceggo (15)

‘Curry Chicken Pan Mee’ after shooting and it was gone in seconds. Thick Curry Chicken that pour upon the dry noodle that mix with black sauce just mix it very well, chicken is soft and juicy.

Ceggo (16)

‘Loh Pan Mee’ cook in the form of thick soup base, that do not taste very salty and a bit like shark fin soup taste but if you eat it pure the taste would not be that good, the trick is add in vinegar, it will pull up the taste and we add in the available vinegar given to us and finish fast.

Ceggo (17)

On that night it was Lionel Birthday and Sunny had prepared a Passion Fruit came for him.

Ceggo (18)

Lionel the happy guy for the night~ and of course it was a great discovery for us that we found a new nice place to eat and certainly I am going back for more that I would be recommending this place, as it is very reasonable in price starting from RM5.50 – RM9 per bowl.

After our Taiwan Story Land stop by, next destination which is Ximending which is a must go place for all teenagers and young adults if you love shopping. A place which is colourfully light up and surely looks like one of the best place to be. This place is seriously huge with many streets to walk around. One thing you just need to prepare which is money!

Ximen

Ximending has been called the “Harajuku of Taipei” and the “Shibuya of Taipei”. Ximending is the source of Taiwan’s fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture. This area is in the northeastern part of Wanhua District in Taipei and it is also the most important consumer district in the Western District of Taipei. The well-known Ximending Pedestrian Area was the first pedestrian area built in Taipei and is the largest in Taiwan. (source from Wikipedia)

Ximending also can be easily access by the MRT that’s stops at Ximending station which is located directly in front of the place itself.

Ximen (2)

This place is just flock by alot of young people and you wont feel old at all.

Ximen (3)

Ximen (4)

Ximen (5)

I have been told by a lot of my friends that travel here so far and if do drop by this place, once of the food shop that I must visit is this Ay-Chung Flour Rice Noodle that had been establish since 1975 and had become a trend.

Ximen (6)

This shop is located directly infront of Addidas and Nike Boutique and its hard for you to find a place to sit down and the only place you can sit is on the floor, or the plastic chairs which is available or stand.

Ximen (7)

I have never seen this guy stop his work and the que is consistant with people eat in and take away.

Ximen (8)

Sauces to add on are the Vinegar, Garlic and Chili.

Ximen (9)

It would taste much better if you add all of the sauces. One Small bowl cost NT40.

Ximen (10)

Ximen (11)

You can eat it either stand or squatting down.

Ximen (12)

I just love the texture of the noodle which is silky smooth, and the base is thick that near to gummy side. The best part is, instead of using Oyster they are using Pig Intestine that had been cook so soft to chew it like fish meat. Taste of chili and garlic just add in the extra kick in it, just beware the chili is quite spicy. By the time I finish my cup of Mee Sua we are all drench in sweat. Recommended stop for food.

Ximending Branch: Ximen Station, Exit 6. No.8-1, Er Mei St., Wanhua District. +886-02-2388-8808 ay-chung.com

Xinyi District Branch: No.2, Lane 17, Sec. 4, Zhongxiao E. Rd., Xinyi District, Taipei City

Ximen (13)

As we were still hungry and walking around through this busy district then we came accross street snacks available.

Ximen (14)

It sure looks tempting to us and too bad I do not know how to read chinese but certainly my friends can.

Ximen (15)

It is like Roti Canai Taiwan version that have many choices to choose from as topping to wrap around as ingredient.

Ximen (16)

You can choose from bacon, egg, corn, and a few others to make it up.

Ximen (17)

Certainly they do have alot of toppings also, ranging from sour till sweet.

Ximen (18)

The taste is so good till that now I still remember the taste, soft and aromatic with pan fried cover with yummy crispy bacon with egg wrap add with some chili powder. I don mind to have 3 of this. NT35

Ximen (19)

Next then we were a little curious on what is this guy selling that have so many mixture of chicken parts available and some are in cold version.

Ximen (20)

It was more like a mixture of chicken sparepart of everything and some other veggies and we order a mix packet that have all the available ingredient mix in it.

Ximen (22)

Ximen (21)

mix everything into the bowl

Ximen (23)

add on some powder and shake it and mix it by hand

Ximen (24)

The end result of the total mixture, which includes some cold ingredient but it suprise us how good it taste, with a bit salty, not too strong in taste of pepper, chili powder and another secret powder that kicks the taste even better and Pak just finish most of it by himself and keep praising how good it is. Indeed it taste good!

Ximen (25)

We have Chinese Pancake in Malaysia and they do have Taiwan Chinese Pancake I would call.

Ximen (26)

Available in rolls, flats, thick and flavour to add in are red bean, cheeze, peanut, jam, mixed seafood and a few others.

Ximen (27)

Taiwan Sausages are available in many many flavour compare to our pasar malam and the types of the original sausage also gives us hard time in choosing it.

Ximen (28)

This is another shop highly recommended by two friends that is a must go shop if I am there, sure its packed with people.

Ximen (29)

What is available in the shop is more on chicken parts.

Ximen (30)

With chicken legs, inards, feet, liver, ass and many more.

Ximen (31)

Price ranges from NT20 – NT70 depends on how many grams you take.

Ximen (32)

One of the many things that we would buy back for souvenir is this compress ‘ Taiwan Tie Dan or know as Iron Eg or Naught Egg’ that an egg had been compress till so small that had a bit of herbal taste. Many people can just finish one pack like that but I just cant. NT100 per pack and available in Original and Spicy. Both taste pretty good and if are a spicy lover just go for the SPICY!

Ximen (33)

Then we did try out all the available parts in the shop the taste, is mind with a bit herbs and not that salty. You try it out then you tell me. We finish the whole bag like piranha.

Ximen (34)

If you are looking something cute to buy back as souvenir for your friends or gift for your love ones, then this shop, Sophisca would be a shop you would not want to miss as they are candy and gift shop. They sell all those cute and uniquely packed gift available for you to choose and I sure do hope that Malaysia do have this kind of shop.

Ximen (35)

All those packed are they Pad? selling womens Pad? Nope, but sure do looks like one rite?

Ximen (36)

You need condom in chocolate flavour that has extra chocolate?  With this Choco is better than sex!

Its time to get sweet tooth and the wall is very funny, are all white papers and you can just do a shout out by writting on the wall who are you with, welcome, relish an anger note, just anything that you can read alot of funny note.

Ximen (41)

Snowy version of Taiwan with many flavours to choose from.

Ximen (42)

I just love Tina how she always look in camera with alot of cute and funny expression.

Ximen (43)

My order will never always go wrong with Mango toppings and ice cream flavour. Taiwan mango taste so sweet, soft and very very aromatic of mango flavour which is quite different from Malaysia. In Malaysia just cant get such a sweet mango.

Ximen (44)

Mix Fruits.

Ximen (47)

While I am walking back, this shop sure catch my attention as I have heard Forever 21 but this shop is name Forever 26.

Next post will be one of the famous area or a must visit area if you do go Taiwan, which is known as JiuFen.

In KL, there are a lot of famous pan mee, most of the stalls they do have variety of flavours to choose from and I still like the authentic ones not until recently Ken introduce us a very kick authentic pan mee located at Old Klang Road. Ah Tee Authentic Pan Mee The stall is park under a very small hawker center which has no name but painted green in colour.

The recipe came from his grandfather that had been selling pan mee for the past 30 years and had pass down to the dad, mother in laws and now the son, had taken over to operate it for pass time, and need not to support their kids anymore.

Pan Mee

This is how the stalls looks like by the road side.

Pan Mee (2)

Besides selling Pan Mee, he also sell ‘Home Made Or Kuih’ and ‘Popiah’.

Pan Mee (3)

The ingredient that going to add into pan mee, just so tempting that I just cant wait to have a bowl by myself.

Pan Mee (4)

The owner with the name Ah Tee is preparing our hot bowl of pan mee, I just feel that his hand is made of metal, that such a big flame and his hand is able to just right above it in adding in the ingredient.

Pan Mee (5)

While waiting our pan mee, Ken order ‘Or Kuih’ which is very soft and filled with yam and dip with the chili sauce is yummy~ and the ‘Popiah’ I have tasted better ones before.

Pan Mee (6)

One of the secret of this stall which is homemade ‘Sambal’ as there are 2 types of it; one which is not very spicy to dip along, but what we find it interesting is the one behind is recommended to all of you who loves very spicy which is the ‘flaming hot sambal’. Eat it with care, that might choke you easily because of the spiciness and once you got choke, you will be very high! Tears all over and 3 glass of water would not help you to ease it.

Pan Mee (7)

This is our ‘Pan Mee’ and add extra anchovies for extra  umph! The noodle can be ordered according to the size you one, but the authentic way is to eat by hand peeling from the flour.

Pan Mee (8)

I just love the taste of it, as it is very flavorful and strong anchovies taste as one of the secret that I found out was, he took the fried anchovies to blend it till ashes and while cooking till the end, he added it in and stir to dilute the ash anchovies to blend into the soup, then add in the marinated pork slices.

Next step, you can either eat or dip along with the flaming hot sambal or add the sambal into the soup to make you sweat all over and tears flowing out.

As the stall operates by himself, he sell ‘Tong Sui’ only or you can order some drink by the coffee shop next to it.

Pan Mee (9)

‘Fu Chuk yi Mai’

Pan Mee (10)

‘Lo Han Guo (mata kucing)’

Cannot deny that, this is one of the best Authentic Pan Mee that I have eaten so far, and we have went back a few rounds continuously after that, as it was rainy season and eating a bowl of hot  aromatic pan mee is hard to resist as RM 5 for a big bowl is very cheap.
