Recently was introduce to this place Thai Canteen at Macalister Road, Penang that is serving Thai Street Food version. Starting to turn to many people supper place as they currently operate till 2am.

As you walk to the frontage, you will see a few kind classic Thai stalls set up that you will know are  in the right place with simple item like Moo Ping will surely wont go wrong.

Since Penang is so hot, the place is full blasting its aircon and a great place to chill in between the hot weather.

Brought my parents here to so can order more to try.

This would be my first time ordering and trying out Fresh Prawn and Salmon Sashimi @ RM45.90. For this dish, its very important that the prawn is fresh. To my surprise, I have tried individual prawn and salmon each, however if you eat salmon and prawn stack up together, it taste even better. Prawn and salmon on that day is fresh, with its special made sauce give a nice balance of sweetness, sourness and chili padi spiciness.

Hardly for me to say no to boat noodle. that is the usual first time I would order to try. The soup base of Pork Boat noodle @ RM 3.50 turns out to be better than expected. Thai Glass noodle is slight chewy, the thick broth is just right. Add on with some of your own personal side flavouring to enhance it.

The dry version taste a bit more like Thai dry wan tan mee. @ RM 3.50C

Claypot Crab Glass Noodle @ RM 26.90 is my personal favourite for the night. Serve pippin hot, that you have to quickly stir it to prevent the base getting more burnt. As you stir the smell of it just comes out aromatic. Noodle is nice bite, a bit burnt taste to my liking, hint of peppery and decent crab.

Claypot Prawn Glass Noodle @ RM 19.90

Coming with a few friends you can try out  Thai Canteen Signature Platter @ RM45  serve with : Moo Ping, deep fried squid,  Boxing  Chicken,  homemade Thai Prawn Cake and friesThere are variety version of Thai Tomyum and this is more on the Northen Thai Style which is less spicy, more creamy and light sourish. Siganture Tom Yum Noodle @ RM 39.90 (2-3pax)

Thai Seafood Kerabu @ RM 16.90

Deep Fried Tilapia with Mango Salad @ RM 35 is a perfect fried fish. Crispy on the outside, fish meat still remains juicy and soft in there.

I often eat Thai Red Ruby, this is the first time I have it with cendol. enjoy the red ruby here as it is bigger than the usual and is filled with chestnut, every bite is nice. Nangka is fragrant and cendol is soft, yet it is not too sweet. @ RM 7.90

Mango Sticky rice is classic, will never go wrong as the stick rice is warm, soft  with a bit saltiness. @ RM15.90

the food served on that day was better than expected. could be also i start eating early dinner and less people.
