Balvenie Scotch Whisky Tasting with Neil Strachan

It was a great weekend last round where attended a Balvenie Scotch Whisky tasting with Neil Strachan whom is a regional brand ambassador for South East Asia which held at Tate.

Tate is a hidden gem in Intermark where a door does not look like a door with following concept of hidden gentlemen bar. Over the years, they have grown their regular followers for this bar.

As for that night, we were given Balvenie Double Wood, Aged 12 years with tasting note, mellow single malt of nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and delicately proportioned layer of sherry.

Follow by The Balvenie Caribbean Cask, Aged 14 years which definitely have hint of vanilla, sweet oak notes and fruity character. One of the type of whisky which I prefer for easy drinking.

Last to end the night will be The Balvenie Doublewood 17, Aged 17 years which is one of their signature bottle in the making to celebrate Master David Stewart 50th Anniversary. This technique of doublewood  sees the whisky matured first in American oak barrels which impart sweet vanilla notes before transferring to European oak sherry casks where second casks ageging adds rich spicy flavours and a dept of full flavours.

Indeed its a pretty good bottle for a great catch up with friend under such ambiance. 14 years is my preferred bottle and those who love bold and stronger body flavour then 17 years would be ideal.
