One thing I am proud of is that Renoma Cafe Gallery is actually one of its kind cafe that set foot right in the heart of Bukit Bintang that makes them the first Renoma Cafe Gallery in ASIA. The concept of Renoma Cafe Gallery in its first outlet is located at Paris with the philosophy of Mourice Renoma, Stylist, Designer and Scenographer who is in sync with the latest fashion and design trends and enrobes this space in his visionary and sometimes scandalous imaginary. Over the years, it had gain its reputation that make them one of the places to be seen in Paris. This is something new to me as lets side backtrack a little about Renoma as during 1990-2000’s, Renoma venture into furniture & crockery.

I always thought that Renoma is actually a local Malaysian brand till now found out that Mr. Mourice Renoma then began his artistic career by breathing new life into men’s Wear during sixties by introducing ready to wear men’s fashion and ladies high fashion, and accessories.

Now with the new outlet that open its door from September 2012 onward had made it a spot for executives, corporate people and cool artist to gather and chill at this outlet. Its a huge outlet with a combination of an art gallery, fashion boutique and chic bistro that make it a showcase for food, drinks, fashion, art and music living all under one roof.

Now let me walk you through the cafe as you walk pass the main entrance,you will be greeted with Champ Gallery,  that have all the latest fashion range by Renoma for Men’s and Ladies.

You can even purchase the item there as they do have a counter ready for you.

Decor and ambiance of the place is unique with some combination. European inspired design with presense of neo-classical sofas and armchairs with a nouveaute appeal. Black and white images featuring its Mythologie series (shot of striking animal heads clad in elegant or casual outfits) where you will see more later, digital printed sofas and tables makes it distinctive a personality on its own.

Head up to their mezzanine floor where on the right you can host your private functions by booking the VIP room.

The room is called George V Suite is a well equip private VIP room with karaoke system and comes with 2 bar person that will be ever ready to make you drinks. Nice visuals on the wall that makes the hidden toilet behind it.

A spacious room that is just perfect to host it privately especially for exclusive events, meetings or any celebration (good for bachelor night :D) with leather sofa .. .

At the same level as you walk accross the VIP room, is Salon Lounge which has a Verandah View of the city.

Sitting at the bar would be ideal lovely as you can order your favourite beer right at the counter.

Take the lift down as you will be nearby the main entrance, greeted with outdoor seating area. ..

As you walk pass the glass door, you will be greeted back the main dining section Salle that is located right after the fashion gallery.

Decorated with different types of dining chairs and unique images hanging on the wall, cozy with chill wind blowing around along with soft music background makes it a perfect place for dining or gathering.

I just love this oval bar .  . what is the best of it?

One is the happy hour that they have is cheap ..

Second is they serve a few types of single malt. .

Upon our arrival, we were serve along with their signature cupcakes first but I decided to keep it last. 🙂

As I open on their menu, they have quite a unique menu with unique names along that makes me explore on the whole menu. . RCG serve French cuisine. . .

Price are pretty decent. . .

Then we were shown to one of its kind in the world is their very own home brand Renoma French Wine – Grand vin De Bordeux. Its a wine that stole all our heart away with its easy to drink, smooth with great body, and pair almost well with most of our dishes. For the first time I found some French wine that I love. Just cant stop drinking.

1) Refreshing Summer Cooler – Virgin Mojito and under this hot weather, its definitely a thirst quencher and refreshing.

3) Classic Margarita Cocktail and if you love this drink its a must not miss, well balance of alcohol which is not too strong that blend very well with the lime. Some of us ended up having more than 2 glass. That shows how  good it is. – highly recommended!

Assorted Canapes @ RM20 featuring “forest, sea and farm” elements. Fresh mushroom ragout, smoked Scottish salmon, beef pastrami and air-dried Muscovy duck on slices of toasted brioches is a perfect way to kick start your meal with. Different blend of flavours that play along on your taste bud.

How we end up ordering this dish is by the name itself and we have not tried before anything with Duck breast. Cured Muscovy Duck Breast Salad @ RM28. When it was presented we were like whoa, egg yolk smack right in the middle and colour of the french duck is very tempting as we been told its cured with cammomile tea. We poke on the egg yolk to let it flow then mix it. A perfect combination with its unique taste with its dressing makes it extra kick. With a bowl of green like that, this is certainly the winner.- RecommendeD!

Nicoise Salade with Scottish Salmon @ RM28 – silky smooth salmon, grilled artichoke, heirloom tomatoes, anchovies, quail eggs and and a robust red wine vinaigrette. If the salad I have tried this first, then it would have been a good dish, as now my mind already stick with the awesome duck salad.

Rock Lobster Bisque @ RM32  same with this soup as its slight over saltiness but the winner of it is little medallions of rock lobster decorated on top of the soup serving of fried crispy whitebait along with drizzle of spicy cream makes it good. What goes well with it is the bread.

French Onion Soup @ RM20 Soupe à l’Oignon Gratinée. Caramelized Onion in a Beef Bouillon topped with toasted bread and Melted Comté cheese.

All the 3 soups above its best to go along with bread and dip along that make them stood out perfectly. Without bread its slightly hard to finish the whole bowl by yourself.

Mini Snails Parcels @ RM18 looks weird in the menu as snail as my dish its just a big no no but its a oven-baked Burgundy Escargots in puff pastry with lotus root chips act as the cap of it. Paired with a bunch of micro cress drizzled over with sauce Madere. I just pop one ball into my mouth and it taste hmmm . . impressive with the sauce with slightly salty from the taste of cheeze and the gravy balance it well.

I rarely have Foie gras as main as in this menu its under appetizer section and I am sure this well presented yet heavy or rather huge of 120g portion will knock you off. RM78 for a start I would not say its expensive, I would say its a great value, that grilled to perfection till its still moist and juicy in there, every bite is filled with aroma and the fruits presented along create a well balance taste in your taste bud.

there are 2 version of this with one is  Croque Madame @ RM28 and Croque Monsieur. How do you see the difference? Apparently  the former has a poached/fried egg on top because that fried/poached egg looks like an “old fashioned lady’s hat”!

This classic sandwich serving in here is filled with  Gruyère Cheese, Cured Beef, Muscovy Duck, Turkey Ham & Black Truffle Egg.

With one accident poke onto the egg yolk it will make you a messy sandwich. Burst with plentiful of flavour in your mouth that makes it one of the best sandwich I have come across. – Highly RecommendeD!

Hehe, how often do you see a burger price and your eyes grows as big as an egg. What if I tell you the burger patty is made from grass-fed Beef Striploin (220g), with rillette of Muscovy duck and a piece of foie gras stuff in the middle, served with a rocket salad? How much are you willing to pay?

L’Artisan Burger @ RM 58

A burger you will never regret to order, serve with fresh toasted bread, juicy moist 2 patty and without any sauces it taste amazing as it looks and smell. However with their very own home brand wine, it makes it a perfect combination of all.

Their burger or sandwich comes with hand-cut pomme frites (French fries) and 2 dipping sauce.

Another dish that would fall onto my recommended list is this Oriental Rack of Lamb @ RM60. Price at the rate I would say its a value grab with 2 huge pieces of lamb, stacking on each other that char-grilled to perfection. Its prepare medium and once cut the meat out, you can still see the juicy pinky meat. Well marinated and serve on a bed of saute’ed vegetables and sweet Shimeji mushrooms.

Dish after dish coming and it never fails to impress us by far and every food presentation capture our yes and smell of most of the food just Hypnotize us on keep eating. Boeuf Bourguignon – Slow-braised Beef Cheek @ RM58. If a piece of meat is braise for 8 hours of  with red wine how would it taste like. SUPERB is just one of the word I can define. A gentle poke with fork easily tear the meat apart.

How many places that you eat on steak can grill a perfect one. Handful I would say. For a 220g  Ribeye Wagyu @ RM128 score very high in our list.

With juicy and tender meat that to grill to perfection with wagyu is not easy. I had half slab of this myself. . kekek~ with red wine, I am in food heaven.

Cod Meuniere @ RM62– Wild Caught Cod Fish Fillet Poached in Brown Butter, Seasonal Vegetables, Capers, Kaffir Lime Leaf, Lemongrass & Orange Maître d’hôtel Sauce. Those of you do not take red meat, then this is rather one of the best dish to hunt for. A cod is seasoned with salt and pepper and herbs infuse with Lemongrass and Orange Maître d’hôtel Sauce. You imagine on the taste. . :p

Coq au Vin ( Burgundy Style Spring Chicken) @ RM36– the Coq au Vin is essentially spring chicken slow-braised in red Burgundy wine . Button Mushroom, Smoked Duck, Pearl Onion served with seasonal baby Vegetables is a easy dish to eat along..

As we look thru thoroughly on the menu most of us have the same thought, and next question pop out,  Rock Lobster Thermidor is just classic that long see this offered in a menu. Price at RM148 with a whole rock lobster serving on the plate.

Blame on my mindset as I still prefer the shell of the lobster to be serve along to show that actually I am eating a lobster. Fresh juicy meat that serve along with Porcini mushrooms, crustacean veloute and melted Gruyere cheese.

Le Cafe Gourmand @ RM18 comes with a shot of Espresso with 4 other assorted RCG sweet patisseries – Macaron, Mango Millefeuille, Eclair and Croquignole (double-baked biscuit).

Among the deserts, this is one of the desert I would recommend to try. Its a well balance of sour, bitter and sweet.

Among the woderfull dinner that I must say that Chef Alven Tan (Chef de Cuisine) right certainly know’s how to handle all the red meat that makes them every bite of it a awesome dish and Chef Amanda Lim (Chef Patisserie) have her creative side too.

And we got our limited edition Renoma mug that is perfect for my morning cup of coffee and tea. Loving it.

We all enjoy this dining experience, with its great food that the chef can handle, as much as picky as the rest its sure to impress and hope that both the chef’s can their standard. For a restaurant that operate less than 3 months to have such dish is good to impress. Certainly I will be returning more with other friends.

Renoma Cafe Gallery had fall into my recommended list with its overall service and food quality.

In Japan or as seen in a movie, there are alot of small little famous eatery around neighborhood that hidden around a corner. There are a new hidden gem in the heart of KL with many of my friends saying that I did not know there are actually a Japanese restaurant there regardless they walk by that route almost daily. Ozeki Italia is actually a new restaurant that located at Ground Floor of Wisma Cosway, directly oppostive Novotel Hotel. A small little restaurant that operate not more than 4 months that serve pork along that had slowly gaining its reputation among local food hunter.

Its not a huge restaurant that estimated full house capacity about 50 pax at one go. Therefore, to dine here, it is highly recommended to make your reservation. I always love Japanese cuisine and as far I as understand there are actually very less Japanese Chef explore other part of the world to learn other country cuisine and to my surprise  the current head chef had resides in Italy for 30 years and had been travelling around small town to learn their recipe therefore OZEKI Italia is actually a combination of Japanese and Italian cuisine that sparks the interest in me.

The ambiance certainly do give me I am ship to Japan to dine in those small little outlet which alot customers are willing to queue for their good food.

With the quality of chef produce, the price is definitely reasonable and apologize for the blur menu.

IF you are adventourous then leave your meal to the chef as our first dish came out right from chef’s idea is Chef’s Recommendation @ RM58. Grilled Fresh Sanma with Bacon Tomato Sauce. ITs a very unique combination here with first hint of fresh sweetness of seafood is tasted then follow by strong seasoning of green gravy on top of it which is strong sourish salty. Regarding on this dish, it is best to pair with white wine and I think it will absolutely bring out the freshness and taste of it.

I have always love pork burger and this is one of a unique dish, Polpetine @ RM 32. Duck hamburg steak served with spinach sauteed, dry raisin, pine nuts & topped with half boiled egg and chef special Japanese sauce

We were brief by the manager, there are actually 2 ways in eating this. Original purpose,  you will poke on the egg yolk to let it ooze out and pair it along. There are also people dislike the taste mixture, you remove the egg yolk to the side of the plate then only poke as only little part is mix with then only pair along. The difference I got is, original taste without egg yolk taste much better but with egg yolk dipping with the soy sauce on plate makes it better as for after taste.

Home made bread as I whack 3 of this. ITs so good, soft and serve pippin hot which is fresh from the oven. Rarely you will find such a great bread especially the charcoal bread that made in house by the chef.

Something looks ordinary which is Insalata Prosciutto @ RM 28 – Mixed salad, Parma ham, grapes, Mozzarella cheese with Japanese dressing. Parma ham taste, fresh finely slice and mozzarella cheese give the well balance sweetness of the salad makes it a superb dish. Recommended!

Diavole @ RM 38 – grilled marinated spring chicken with Japanese Citron Pepper and Olive oil, served with potato & mushroom sautee, dressed with japanese citron pepper and balsamico sauce. A young age chicken being well marinate and grill to perfection that the meat is juicy and soft with the light seasoning is enough to make the taste awesome~

I have always finding it hard to find good Rissoto. I must say that this Risotto Ostriche @ RM 34 is one of the best I have come across especially from a Japanese Chef that cook it so authentic. Risotto cooked with assorted Mushroom & Parmigiano cheese topped with steamed Japan oyster on Hot Sizzling Plate. Something simple that keeps me digging into it until its finish then I stop. Cook to perfection that its just moist enough and taste of mushroom and parmigiano cheese well balance. Recommended~

Spaghetti Merluzo @ RM 48 .Spaghetti tossed with homemade corn marigold paste, cooked & chopped garlic and olive oil; topped with grilled black cod fish with Japanese soya sauce, sprinkled with Japanese assorted chilli pepper

Indeed it is a very satisfying meal and its hard to find one eatery that offer such authentic food. Not only that before I walk off they have dinner buffet on every Sunday and price is very reasonable. Surely I am coming back for more.

Before I end this, a new discovery is that, in this restaurant they have chef that specially cook to cater on our local taste as they have discover that different people especially Chinese have stronger taste bud therefore the food cook on the day will be specially for you as in the kitchen they are being inform its Chinese guest. If it is Japanese diner then it will be tone down according to the authentic taste. For me, it is best to let the restaurant manager or the person that took your order saying you prefer authentic taste. Again it is up to you as you cant complain as you wish to try it out.

Highly recommended restaurant if you wish to try out some authentic taste and please bare in mind with food that you are not familiar with, please request the manager how you enjoy best of your food.

One of the functions I tested out with my toy Samsung Smart Camera NX 210 is the HD-recording that I have recording a few in different functions. Its pretty impressive so far. . Finally, I am able to take some time out to write about one of my trip this year. (its a long post with many pictures). It was a great deal that we have gotten for Golden Palm Tree Resort & Spa that located at Sepang which is about 1hour drive from KL city.

In Malaysia, we sure do have one of the most pretegious hotel that have attracted many people around the region local and near. This resort had capture my attention for quite a while with its iconic the Palm Tree that is similar to another mega development in Dubai also known as Palm Tree.

Our Malaysia version is much smaller scale than the one they had there. Nevertheless, this resort had also gain many recognition such as The Malaysia Book of Record and CNBC Asia Pacific Property Awards in 2008 for Best Interior design. I did my homework before I came here and with such recognition being awarded, of course expectation had being set high.

It is only about 1 hour drive away from busy district of Kuala Lumpur City or its very nearby Air Asia LCCT airport. Golden Palm Tree is a huge project that that contain 4 types of water villa which is Royale Palm Villa, Ivory Palm Villa, Canary Palm Villa, Travelers Palm Villa and Premier Travelers Palm Villa that have about 400 rooms in total.

Its A five-star sea resort, the our villas stretch out nearly a kilometer into the sea facing the sheltered waters of the straits of Malacca. Right when we reach here, we are all excited to visit this place as we even have count down in our chatroom for this trip.

As you arrive you will be greeted with guard post, as the main lobby area are for drop off and pick up only. There are designated parking area for guest and public whereby a service van will pick up to head to the main area.

It was public holiday when we visit this place, and the place is pack with visitors which I am totally surprise  then found out that it was fully book another surprise.

We bring snacks and what we can think of to ensure we wont be hungry at night.

Wakaka, we found out that there are noting much to do around the area, then not to bored ourself, we brought our own game, Drinking Roullette Set. . :p

As we wait in the main lobby, ,waiting for the buggy service to travel us to the next main check point right at the heart of the resort to head to our respective room.

I was told that the main lobby the long stretch that ferrying us to our main hotel room area is about 800m in stretch and have yet calculate the branches out. That could be easily 1km walk if right from main lobby to your room.

Our hotel room reservation for the trip is  Canary Palm Villa that is about RM1800 per night if I am not mistaken. (rates changes on season)

As we enter our room, we love our room turning our air condition into full blast in this hot weather .

This magnificent villa with 82 square meters of space comes with two bedrooms with a combination of a queen-sized bed and twin beds, a separate luxurious marble four-fixture bathroom, and a lounge with spacious living areas. With its high thatched roof and warm wooden paneling, the villas exude rustic charm, a comforting and languid setting in the midst of natural beauty.    I have a huge toilet with rain shower head that I have no complain

This is the toilet in my friends room that occupy the queensize bed that have shower room and also a bath tub for you to enjoy your evening.

As we quickly change and head out to check what are the facilities that they have to offer.

We head back out to the main lobby area and took service van head to their extreme park. To have fun on the go cart ride is RM30 for 5  minutes if I am not mistaken.

We are all gear up with Tatt’s little cheeky nephew.

Ready to go . . and for children that under height or age, they have a pair seating whereby they can enjoy the race with more mature people to be driving the cart. Kids get to enjoy too . .

We were brief with safety measures before the start of the race and this round we have at least 8 riders.

5 minutes is really fast.. a few laps habis ..

Next all of us head to ATV ride where by is also about RM20 or RM30 for 1 lap, since all of us did not ride before we decided to make it a group trip. . .

Its a quick one lap like duck walking in a line, slow and being control by the warden. Not so fun as I thought. Apparently, if you want to have a ride with yourself, you can also challenge on the rider there.

Infinity pool is pack with people and definitely not suitable to come during public holiday.

Rule number 1 is to have a quick shower only jump to the pool.

Right after quick swim we change and prepare to head for dinner as all of us are freaking hungry.

Then my friend didnt book the restaurant, and its full. Then we walk back to Sepoi Sepoi Cafe for a quick dining as we need to wait for 2 hours before our turn.

Food price is not cheap in this restaurant. .

Tatt and nephew are very hungry so the dine first, best food (opps not best food, edible food is Chicken Rice)

this is my seafood spaghetti which is very disappointed. After one bite, none of us would want to continue further. Other food that the rest order, never bother to write about it.

Then we walk back to Stimboat Food Garden for our main meal.

our steamboat set. Seafood is not fresh, soup is tasteless that we have to modified ourself, waiter and waitress here is very slow and we pity on the Manager as he have to work double hard as the rest are just plain lazy or don wan to ‘LAYAN’.

Wake up early next day to get my breakfast which I wont miss and do wake up early if you come here during public holiday as its gonna be filled with heavy crowd.

Food in here do not expect that much . . as long as it can fill your stomach then okay-lah!

Overall of the stay in this resort, wasnt so pleasant as the room is hot, and only single air condition being-used which is not enough to generate the coolness for the room. Most of us woke up middle of the night and complain why is it so hot!

With a 5 star resort and awards being won, dining was a bad experience especially on food quality with the price being charge is way too expensive along with their service. My friend event commented on the structural quality that they have.

To pay ourselves for a room RM1800 surely we would not, its because we manage to grab a good deal over a website, yet its still far expensive. I find that many other resorts in Malaysia will offer more and better service and with that rate I can easily compare to Pangkor Laut or any 5 star Hotel in Langkawi that worth every penny.

I will spend my money some where else but of course everyone will have different experience.

Remark: do bring Mee in the cup there as it taste much better than any of the hotels offering that I have dine, (comparing to the 3 dining area I have been)

Coffee industry in Malaysia is picking up, as there are more and more of these stand alone outlets that offer different kinds of coffee to consumers. One of the latest brand which is Chilla Cup is growing fast around Klang Valley.

Tried their outlet in Solaris area which I have passby a few times. Right before my road trip, decided to drop by for coffee.

Design of the outlet are nice and simple with brick wall with sofa seating area.

I must say that I am impress with the manner of the outlet manager not only that, as he found out that I am a blogger, Suprise.. besides that he is nice friendly and know what is the best offering in the outlet.

Order came in with some of my friends that went to the outlet before, Chilla Cup Pretzels is a must try, order my classic flavour Cinnamon pretzel. It was prepare fresh, right from scratch that need to wait for 5-10 minutes, soft, and nice. I must say its good~ no wonder they love it.

Fruit pancake was recommended and looks great at its presentation. Not long after that, the whole thing turn soggy pretty instant because of fruit was use that cause water generate down to the pancake, we only finish half of it.

Latte large to start of with, it was rather dissappointed with the froth being in this version, not only that, it taste no comment.

Mocha large was next, at least it taste slightly better and there are room for improvement. I only can comment that different barista will brew different quality out. They still need lots room of improvement to make a good cup of coffee.

Overall, it is not a cheap breakfast with paying nearly RM 40++ for 4 items. With the price being spent I could easily find other place that offer better food and coffee.

It has been quite a while I have watch Hong Kong movie which I nearly gave up hope on them. With the latest flick Cold War that do massive publicity before even the movie screening and huge superstar line up like Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Tony Leung and a few others for this movie had make them an advantage. Huge praise over these 2 new director had made the action film industry a U-turn.

A movie about Asia’s most safety country are to be tested. This round their system are to be tested as it hit mid night, the hijackers possess direct knowledge of police procedures hijack a fully loaded police van carrying the force’s most advanced equipment and five highly trained officers then make them disappeared off the grid. With high ransom demand from the kidnapers, with safety of the hostages or the reputation of the police are at stake, this new case called Cold War being named.

I must say, one of the best movie after long while that thrilled all of us with all mystery puzzle that keep you guessing who is the mastermind behind the cases. Then only realise its . .. . (watch yourself). Some of my friends are confuse on the movie, but just to let you know, there might be a part 2.

Its a must watch movie! Love how the director shoot the whole movie.. . Do watch it in 2-D (quite big difference without 2-D format)
