Chulo Restaurant & Bar @ Jaya One

In Jaya One, many people know this place as F&B area, with a few restaurant to dine in then follow by drinks after that. One of the most recent place that I visit is Chulo Restaurant & Bar that located upstairs Brussels. The place had been run by a new management for the past 9 months and they had revamp their menu too.

You can consider this as a hidden place in Jaya One as they are located upstairs but their lobby area is brightly lighted up and hard not to notice if you do walk pass. .

If you are a draft lovers, then here are a few options for you to choose from as they carry Carlsberg range.

Dining place is pretty comfy with dim lights and most of the customer just sunk into their comfy sofa comfortable and enjoying their beer after long working day. Not only that, this place had consistently gain its regular customer with one main point that they can smoke indoor. That turns this place not a so friendly place for family with kids as most of their regular are working adults.

Hot Wings (half dozen) @ RM14.80 is perfect to go along with beer. slightly spicy yet with sour lime end.

Smoked Duck Breast Salad @ RM18.80

Prawn Cocktail @ RM22.80

The Prawn Cocktail comes with huge slices of lemon, fresh tomatoes, and layered with a creamy cocktail sauce. Fried to perfection that we have to finish it before it gets cold. The sauce is just nice as its not too much yet light enough to start off with.

Potato and Leek Soup @ RM12.80

Sauteed potatoes and leek cooked with garlic mixed double cream and served with a slice of chulo’s ver own homemade garlic bread. Creamy enough yet not overpower by the creamy taste just that its a bit salty for me.

Cream of Brocolli Soup @ RM12.80

Interesting Brocolli Soup accompanied with garlic croutons.

Minestrone Soup @ RM18.80 has slightly salty end, yet the portion is pretty huge for a soup that is filled with pasta, celery, carrot, and an inevitable rich stock.

 Butter Fish Fillet @ RM34.80

The Butter Fish Fillet is a seafood comes with an a good mixture with prawns, squid and mussels, in a tomato homemade sauce. For the sidesm you can choose either creamy mash potatoes or garden salad.

Chicken Meat Loaf @ RM24.80

Chicken Meat Loaf here is alright that is filled with, minced chicken wrapped with beef bacon, assorted vegetables and creamy mash and served with spicy capsicum sauce.

Rack of Lamb @ RM45.80

The roasted lamb rack is served with roasted potatoes, slow cooking tomatoes, caramelized onions, steamed vegetables and rosemary jus.

New Zealand Lamb Chop @ RM23.80

Among this two, I prefer this better as its more classic, the taste is more punget and well marinated. Its serve with fine slices  french fries that make it so addictive, seasonal vegetables and rosemary jus.

Spanish Seafood Paella @ RM24.8

Spanish baked rice cooked with an array of prawns, mussels, calamari, braised fish fillet with tomato sauce. This is prepared upon order, allow 15 minutes for preparation. I find that its a bit too moist for me as my impression towards paella is slightly more dry, yet quite salty for me. Well, some of them love it. I guess its very subjective then.

Chocolate Lava would be a great dessert to go after your meal or upon drinking. As many people told me, anything with chocolate is hard to go wrong.

Right after that, is drinking time and tried off with their signature shot – Cockaine. you should give it a try too .. 😀

I am not a big fan of Gin but this bottle certainly change my perception towards Gin and its one of the best I come across. Not many outlet carry this brand – Hendricks Gin as they give you fresh slices of cucumber to pair with along. Great taste yet smooth. Recommended!

For Chulo, its certainly one of a comfy drinking place and dining. If you looking for a place to chill in Jaya One, Chulo would turn out to be one of a good spot.
