Cocott @ The Greens, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

For this food hunting, @yukikotan just mention that she need to introduce me to this place for catch up. One of a better casual French dining around KL area. I was never a fan of French dining for Malaysian market but this place, Cocott at TTDI did change my perspective a little.

Hidden right at level one or I would consider this a hidden gem in TTDI if you do have some extra money to hit on some atas food. You would not notice this outlet at all if you do a normal drive by through the area.

It is indeed a very casual dining space with high panels of glass that gives you loads of natural lighting.

complimentary bread to start off with and butter is good.

We start off with wine by glass starting from RM 26 onwards with variety of choices available. (click here)

I have no idea but makes this few items top in my list when comes to French dining. Onion Soup is definitely one of them. @ RM 24 – croutons & gratinated cheese. Love the strong flavour that they cook along, it is like a strong soup broth that cook for long time that gives you different aromatic profile. Enjoying every sip of it.

Another item is Baked Escargots @ RM 38 (half Dozen) – with garlic and herbs. nothing much to shout about, as it is just add on with garlic and herbs.

Foie gras Terrine @ RM 57 (single) – fig, pistachio, salad, toasted brioche, tamarind jam. This is impressive where the foie gras is handle with care and cook to perfection. Just a nice thin cook layer outside that gives you the slight burnt look as it needed and it just melts in your mouth. The light seasoning is spot on.

Ratatouille is one of Yuki favourite that is a must order item in their menu. I would second on this. A simple dish that cook to perfection where smooth creamy top that gives you a layer of smoothness and the base is tomoato. @ RM 24. Pairs very well with my white wine.

I was debating to order Beef bourguignon and Stewed Lamb Estouffade (RM 47 single/RM 89 double.). Ended up with Lamb where the guy said this is one of their signature dish. A dish that is pack with flavours as lamb is braised in a cocotte with confit of cherry tomatoes, Kalamata olives, raisins and cashew nuts. Gives you a bite of flavour with salty, sweet raisins and crunchy texture as the meat is just so soft. . .

Over a few French dining, I guess I can summaries it in a way that French food gives you a strong flavour profile. Best is to share. This place will be one of my recommended place if you are into French Dining. All the dishes that we ordered turns out to be above expectation.

You can check out their menu here
