Ekkamai @ Batai, Damansara Heights

Batai had become a well known buzz with first outlet that operated in the area, Yellow Brick Road, follow by an anchor tenant Big supermarket. Currently this place is pack with a few F&B and was recently visited Ekkamai that serve fusion Thai Food.

Upon entering the place, you wil be greeted with their luxury Thai settings and a nicely design bar for peeps around the area to enjoy a drink or two during happy hour.

Kai Lan @ RM 18

Kangkung Balachan @ RM 18

Duck & Lychee Curry @ RM 32. roast Duck curry with tomato, lychee & pineapple. This is another dish where we find it nice in flavour, where curry is slightly thick and goes well with rice as it gives you the slight hint of sweet lychee end.

Their Classic Tomyum Seafood @ RM 22 is not as big bowl as what we thought it would be and flavour wise is not as spicy as what it looks like.

First time trying out Tom Kha Chicken @ RM20. soup with young coconut meat, balance with light coconut milk. Tomyum in this version where it is very strong in sourish taste and slightly creamier.

Spicy Calamari @ RM 18 – crispy calamari tossed with garlic and chili pepper.

Pineapple fried rice @ RM 22 with chicken, prawns & Cashew nuts. – this dish is out.

Homok Seafood @ RM 26 – Thai Style otak otak with prawns, squid, mussels and scallops in spicy moose.

Pamelo Salad Prawn @ RM 22 seems to be one of our favourite for the night, where slightly juicy pulp from pamelo with fresh prawns and sourish end of the taste certainly do dance well in our taste bud.

Stuffed Squid @ RM 22 – Grilled squid stuffed wtih chicken & prawns marinated in garlic and coriander.

Phad Thai Prawn @ RM 24. I have had better Phad Thai’s Before.

red Snapper @ RM 68 – steamded with lime juice, coriender and garlic.

Red Rubby @ RM 12

For drinks, this Kedondong Asam Boi @ RM 12 is a must order drink where all the ingredients are punch fresh to abstract the flavor to make it into their signature drink. It is refreshing, and there are alot of ingredients for you to chew. Sour enough and a great mix of flavor.

If you are looking for authentic Thai food to hunt for, I guess you can skip this outlet where we felt that the taste here is more skewed towards international taste bud. If you are here to host some international guest, then it would be an ideal place.

  • Went there last night and we were a group of 7. My bill was RM1350+. I didn't mind paying it as we had ordered 2 bottles of wine and paid corkage of RM70 for one bottle that I brought. Very disappointing experience with the food. Hormok was sold out at 7.45pm so we had a nice but tiny crab spring roll. We ordered a second and they must have run out of crab too as the second order was very obviously was just stuffed with vegetable, not crab. Tofu stuffed with prawn and egg was a tasteless thing in semi cooked fuchok - ugh. The omelette a flat bit of egg - with nothing in it! I can do much better at home. Green curry and duck curry were not bad. Overall the experience was less than mediocre. I will never go back.

  • Heading there for dinner tonight. Thanks for the lovely pictures. I shall definitely order the Assam boi drink. hehe
