Isabel Restaurant and Bar @ Jalan Mesui, KL

Alright, I do not know how did the time flies and now is already mid April and lets rewind back to early this year. Isabel Restaurant and Bar is one of a recommendation from Faridah that sits just right next to Feeka or just a stone throw from Changkat Bukit Bintang that I should visit this place and here we are. Celebrating both our birthday here over dinner.

This place is rather new as they operated since November 2017 when we visited the place. Love the ambiance of it as they turn the classic place into modern touch.

What I read from other reviews, it seems that this place is also well known for their cocktails. I have no idea. Maybe you guys can try it out and let me know.

Just look at the marble table and also the cutleries. Some of my friends would go “yaya: on this.

Weekend over here is kinda packed up especially on the bar area. A place which is really chill to have nice conversation.

Menu is not huge but they are more like fusion food menu, with combination of local, thai and western cuisine in “Dai Chow” format.

As I was hungry while waiting for the “kakak’s” to arrive, I started myself with Bao. Soft fluffy bun top with a long slice of beef. Not too bad.

We always have wine for our gathering and this bottle of house wine turns out to be good. Frutti young wine, soft finishing at your palate yet not too dry and great to pair with their food too. We ended up order another bottle.

Here come one of the recommendation from the lady owner I believe. Steam mini octopus which is special of the day. Did not over cook it, yet it is very fresh. With some lime juice top on it and it is just perfect to pair with their house wine.

Lamb Massamam – Southern thai New Zealand lamb stew with peanuts, cardamom, staranis & Cinnamon @ RM 54. Price maybe on a very steep side but rest asure that you will be blast with the quality of it. creamy enough to my liking, very fragrant with spices that did not over power your palate and lamb is cook to perfection that near to melt in your mouth texture. Put the gravy onto the fried rice, and wine. Well, shall leave it to you to describe then.

Egg fried rice @ RM 12. The most simplest dish of all yet it is the most perfected cooking style of all. Very similiar to the one I had in Hong Kong that filled with “wok hei”, rice is fragrant and the egg taste is just so prominent. We ended up order 3 bowls for this as it is hard to find such quality cooking. Simple and so good.

This was also another recommendation from the lady boss. Prawn Sambal tumis @ RM 48. Cleverly play with local ingredient. Freshness of it is there. Add some lime drops to enhance the taste.

Lala @ RM 28 is normally what we have on most of the restaurant. you guys should give it a try for my malay and indian friends. As good as a “chinese dai chow” place

Grill chicken @ RM 45 is well marinated with chef special sauce. Add on lime and dip with the sauce given, you would just want this plate by yourself. “Nando’s atas version.”

As for meal closure, we tried their cakes. Varlhona Chocolate cake with butter cream @ RM 17. You will love it, and good to pair with coffee. Rich in chocolate taste, yet cake is not too dense and butter cream give you the light flavour that is needed to balance up.

Mini Pavlova of Blueberries and Strawberries @ RM 20.

There we are. 2 of us with Farida as Jan baby and me as Feb baby. Of course thanks to Eunice and Leon for the dinner eh~

overall, the food here is pretty impressive as for a Fusion restaurant. A great place for celebration too and have become one of my recommended place if you are willing to dig deeper into your pocket. Per pax here would easily from RM 60 onwards. However I am not too sure did the taste change as we come on mid Jan.
