Kakigori @ Taman Paramount, PJ

Kakigori is actually a Japanese Shave ice version from Japan. The founders are also the owners of Thirdwave in Bangsar. This little dessert place is located at Taman Paramount, Seapark.

There have been waves of good review about this place from friends we known. .

Love the minimalism concept that they have, that is filled with white walls and some wooden seating area, especially in the center , there is this little garden area with bright natural lights coming through.

Place your order at the cashier, find a spot in the cafe . .. .

wait for your number to be called where your dessert will be serve through this shelves or known as your pick up zone.

Upon finish or before you leave, please leave your empty bowls back to this little area and do give them a ring. Everything in here would be self service.

This is how it will be serve. Do be careful upon pick up as it feels that the ice is gonna drop onto the floor.

Order their signature : Watermelon with Rose Espuma & Red Fruits @ RM 17

Elderberry with Elderflower Espuma & yogurt Cranberry pudding

Then add on another order which is their Avocado @ RM 18 as many people recommended.

I think overall, I will only come once as I have tried better ones before and my expectation was built over the roof. Of course this could not be the comparison as it is from one of a famous Bangkok Cafe operator – After U which come out their new concept – Maygori Dessert Cafe that serve Kakigori Dessert.

Of course watermelon is very pretty in presentation as overall of the 3 flavours, I find too bland for me.

  • Stumble upon your article while searching for this place's review as I am planning to bring my friends there this weekend. My friends & I spent our university years in Japan before coming back to KL and we really miss kakigori a lot! I love how the japanese do their kakigori using fresh fruit in the season. Sometimes u get sweet strawberry, sometimes sourish when it's by the tail of strawberry season.
To be honest, i've tried the kakigori at Maygori, Bangkok last december. The kakigori they served definitely no way near the one we used to have in Japan. Cheap ingredients, artificial colouring, sickly sweet syrup and tasted somewhat artificial :( The one they served at After You were even worse! I think that kind of ice texture and milk powder ice are more like bingsu than kakigori. I hope this dessert bar at Taman paramount will do a better justice to authentic japanese kakigori, the photos on their social media looks legit. well at least no artificial colouring.
