Penang Famous Night Market @ Farlim, Bandar Baru

Often when we travel overseas especially in ASIA, one of the places most people would search which is night market. Night Market is one of the scene that you can find nearly everything under one roof ranging from clothings, food, utensils, houseware and hardware. This applies to nearly the same thing as our very own local market.

In Penang, as far as I know, Farlim Pasar Malam or night market that takes place every Wednesday night is one of the biggest and famous yet crowded place to be that is pretty well known to many locals. I might be wrong as there might be another one popping out but from friends information, its one of the cheapest compare to others.

This post will be spam with alot of pictures!

What can you get here? Lets tour around .. .

This is one of my favourite local pizza as till now I do not think I have come across this brand in KL or I might have miss it. Frankie Pizza is one of a classic brand that usually sell at coffee shop/food court or in night market. One of a strong brand stood till now since when I was a kid.

The most impressive is after all these years, their price did not move much.

IF you are here, do not miss this Char Kuih Kak stall as its one of a classic street food in Penang and this stall serve a pretty decent one.

Directly next to it, is this local dessert with a variety of mixture. Do give it a try as they are pretty famous among the locals.

My favourite Apam Manis. Do give it a try too as it comes with 2 flavour, banana or corn fillings.

Do not miss out this stall too as the BBQ pork stick being marinated to perfection, flvour is strong and for RM1, you could not ask for more and their very own homemade sauce is a must to try. Spicy enough to make your tongue numb!

If you love to visit night market, then this is the Recommended place to be. The only problem is transportation problem as this night market is located inside housing area. One of the option you can take cab or bus.

Do give it a try if you do visit Penang on weekdays.

When: Every Wednesday
Time: 6.30pm-11pm
Where: In a field off Medan Angsana road in Farlim (see map below)
How to get there: Take Bus 202 or 203. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Ask the bus driver to let you know when he/she reaches the “Bandar Baru Supermarket in Farlim”. The night market is in the field behind the supermarket (but ask anyone on the street and they will point you in the right direction).

  • I like the BBQ pork satay as well. Curry mee there not bad as well. The only problem is car park. Also, if you notice carefully, there's a hidden graveyard in the middle of the field ;) Thanks for sharing.
