Penang Hill famous tourist destination Furnicular Train is up and running

As most of us know that Penang Hill Train Services had stopped for the past 18 months for upgrading projects on improvises of the track and implementing new funicular train made from Swiss to replace the old one.

Penang Hill or known as Bukit Bendera which refers to Flagstaff hill or with the meaning the most develop peak at Penang island some time ago . . It is also one of Penang famous tourist attraction, or a place must visit during stay in Penang.

Penang Hill is mainly hilly granitic mass. The hill system is higher towards the northern part with its highest point at Western Hill, at an elevation of 833 m (2,723 ft) above sea level. Other than Western Hill, there are a number of peaks in the region, such as Bukit Laksamana, Tiger Hill, Flagstaff Hill and Government Hill. Flagstaff Hill is 735 m (2,450 ft) above sea level. A number of small rivers and streams originate from the region. Sungai Pinang is the largest of the rivers, and it starts from a number of tributaries in the area.(source from Wikipedia)

and now the furnicular train had resume its service back few days ago, and I take this opportunity to tag along with my KL friends up to this peak which I have last visited very long time ago . .

Now with the new upgrading area, you will walk through air condition waiting area and which they divided into 2 section. The first section you will walk through this area which tells all the history of Penang Hill and the services of the train, which makes me feel a bit of Hong Kong waiting area for their train service up to the Sky Terrace (click here)

While waiting not that long, we get our chance to sit on this new services that takes about 7-10 minutes up to the peak that can accomodate around 80-100 pax in this fully air condition train.

the speed of it is 3 times much faster now compare to the old 1. ..

As this is the new train service and the look of it and if compare to the 68 year old train, previously, it do not look much different as trying to preserve the look and feel of it just a bit modernise. . .
