SOP (Same Old Place) @ Paradigm Mall

I have not been to Paradigm for quite a while till recently I was invited to attend the new launch of this bar SOP which is good to know that they are now more complete as on their outdoor walkway which is filled with restaurant now is filled with bars also. SOP, an abbreviation for Same Old Place, is a newest western restaurant and bar added into the area.

Love the interior of the bar which would be one of an ideal place to hang out as its pretty cozy  . .

On the night itself, the showcase different types of alcohol for us to experience.

One of my favourite for the night is definately this. Godnet Cognac Antartica. Sadly I only manage to have a sip as after my dinner and came back for a full shot, it was already finish.

then I move on to other brand to try out, with a few XO for us to try.

Then came to this counter Bruichladdich Single Malt and its available with 12, 18 and 21 years old to try out.

Found my friend here Tziaa as she is working and taking care of the 18 years old and turns out to be the best among others. Smokey enough yet not too strong and with little spicy end.

Arran Single Malt is not bad too . .

Right after the whiskey tasting then we reach on the beer section as SOP offers different types of Germen beer from dark to bright golden lagers, the German beers are the touted to be the main attraction here.

(Top Left and Clock wise)

#1. Wernesgrüner

Brilliant golden yellow with a light, white head – the unmistakable appearance of Wernesgrüner Pils Legende. This beer is characterized by an intense aroma of hops combined with a whiff of malt, reminiscent of the smell of ripe grain and fresh white bread just out of the oven. A lean, fresh flavor on the palate, with natural sprightliness. Subtle fruitiness reminiscent of apples and bitter-sweet hop aromas that linger harmoniously.

#2. Bitburger – Germany’s No.1 Draft Beer brand ~ “Bitte ein Bit”

#3. Köstritzer Schwarzbier  ~ “All about taste”

A mahogany colour, and a lasting, a cream-coloured, finely pored head are the defining features of Kostritzer black lager beer. Its expressive fragrance evokes a range of intense spicy aromas, including sage, roasted chestnuts, dark honey, bitter chocolate and fresh farm-baked bread. Dry on the palate, and marked by bitter-sweet herbal and toasting aromas. The intense aromas are balanced by the gently sparkling carbonation with freshness and elegance. With delicate bitter tones and malty sweetness, it finished slowly on the palate. A complex, many-layered black lager beer that tastes lean and refreshing with its abundance of flavours. Kostritzer produces more than 400,000 hectoliters of Schwarzbier, making it Germany’s number ONE black lager beer brand, a position it has held for 20years now…..

# 4. König Pilsener

König Pilsener was the first German premium Pilsener beer to gain widespread acceptance, its quality of the highest order sets the standard. No other brand combines success and excellence as perfectly as König Pilsener – the king of beers. The finest, carefully selected ingredients and the knowledge of generations of the best master brewers provide the basis for the success of the unique taste of König Pilsener.

#5. Benediktiner (no picture)

Like luminous amber suffused with orange highlights, Benediktiner Weissbier sparkles in the glass, with an opalescent appearance lent by the natural cloudiness of the yeast. Its rich, white head is characterized by a good density and fine texture. The pot-pourri of aromas combines strong caramel notes, with hints of honey and fruits, chief among them bananas and raisins. Each gently sparkling sip melts on the tongue and palate, bringing a distinct sense of refreshment. A full body, with a harmonious balance of sweet and a discrete bitterness in the background, creates a smooth, creamy mouth feel.

#2. Bitburger

Germany’s No.1 Draft Beer brand ~ “Bitte ein Bit”

Note first the bright, fresh golden color and rich frothy head so typical of this elegant Pilsner beer. Its refined herbal notes are delicately poised, followed by a nutty and honeyed aftertaste. The overall impression of this gently sparkling beer is one of deep harmony, with the unmistakable bitterness of the hops balanced and contained by an agreeable, mellow sweetness in the body.

there are total 5 different types of beers for the night. Each of the half pint cost about RM 28-RM 31 and each of those mini 5 L barrel cost about RM 288.

For beer then ended it with Sapporo . .

One the final stop, we stop at one of the most damaging liquor and one of the most unique mixer which totally looks like drug making. Place a cube of sugar on the top then burn it as the base is Absente.

Then follow with the filtration of chill water over the sugar cube to cross over with the mixer to make it 3 quater cup. Its a very dangerous cup as if you down the whole glass in one shot, its good enough to bring you into another dimension. Stronger drinker might need to down 2 glass to see green fairy. 😀

Apart from the beers, SOP also offers a wide range of wines, liquors, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, concocted by its very own mixologists.

Love this new bar, as definately a great place to chill out with your friends or even before catching up a movie.
