korean bbq in pj

Hanam Korean BBQ is one of the latest Korean BBQ that just open its door to public. It is located at United Point, KL. I have been aiming them since last year MCO as the hoarding board seems to be there for ages till recently I saw a Korean Tiktoker went there to dine in.

Quickly swing by and found out that they area actually a famous chain from Korea.

Hanam BBQ Menu

Hanam BBQ menu is very straight forward which is only a few pages. Mostltly focus on ala cart bbq meat and some sets.

Hanam BBQ (1)

This is their special side dish. Love their Kimchi as marinated well and have its own taste and texture. Serve with 4 different condiments and their signature is the leave (suddenly forgot what is the name).

Quite interesting as it seems it is like a non stick Stone grill bbq pit .

Hanam BBQ (1)

Order Set 2 (2pax x 2 set) @ RM 96, comes with: (the set is actually allot can feed easily 3 pax)

  1. 1 x pork belly
  2. 1 x stew

There is some one there to assist on the grill meat to ensure you get the right texture and cook meat.

Hanam BBQ (7)

Hanam Korena BBQ Malaysia

This is one of their signature eating style. Korean BBQ meat wrap with their special seasoned leave. It is so good that taste abit of sourish yet the bbq taste is just perfect. A great combination with Soju at the side. Best!

United Point Aeon

Hanam BBQ (5)

Steam egg have to eat fast while the texture is soft and not over cook. Another trick is too scoop up fast.

Hanam BBQ (4)

Their Kimchi Stew is one of the best I have come across. Thick in soup base, yet aromatic, hint of sourish and spicy end. Kimchi veggie is soft and pork belly in it is whoolaa laaa.

Hanam BBQ

another nice Korean BBQ in KL to pay a visit. Currently it is quite packed and best advise to call in for reservation.

Other of my fav Korean BBQ:

    1. Qing He Gu– Uptown or Retail 163, Mont Kiara
    2. Don Don Korean BBQ, Hartamas

It all started off with my Instagram stories as I was looking for a nice Korean BBQ place to try out. Thanks to many of that responded to it and decided to try one of your recommendations in it. Many of you suggested Qing He Gu Korean Restaurant in Uptown Damansara. I am quite surprise not many info about them in Google. I know about this shop and always wanted to try.

Qing he Gu (19)

By the name itself, it seems pretty confusing to me as I would thought it is a China restaurant. However, this turns out to be hidden gem of Korean BBQ in KL. Operate by a couple from Korea.

Qing he Gu (18)

Even premium meat that is special packed.

Qing he Gu (2)

By looking at the menu, I am excited as there are quite number of items that I can order. Will need to bring bigger group to try as they have a few classic dish that I wanted to try.

Qing he Gu (17)

Qing he Gu (15)

Free Ice cream for all of us, which is a nice catch . .

Qing he Gu (14)

One of my favourite Korean rice barley drink @ RM 7. Sweet enough to my liking and quite fragrant.

Qing he Gu (13)

Their signature sauce is pretty spot on for both the sesame oil with sea salt is a must have ontop of your bbq meat. They are using quality sea salt.

Qing he Gu (11)

Rarely you get to see Cow Tongue @ RM 40 and it was a must order for me. Cut to paper thin slice and easily grill. If it is too thick cut, it might become too chewy. Perfectly cooked by the staff to medium. Just a thin slice, add onto the veggie with both their sauces is perfect! End with a sip of soju bomb especially Tsing Tao with Soju (is by far the best combination of all)

Qing he Gu (10)

Pork Belly @ RM 30 which is a piece of meat that I would rarely miss. A nice cut of pork belly and just look at the colour of it. Handling with care and perfectly cooked both side. Meat texture not too dense yet a nice layer of fats in between.

Most of the banchan are pretty good, especially the pumkin honey. I had 3 of it.

Service is pretty good even though they are foreign workers.

Great meat, great banchan and free ice cream (it is not about the ice cream). I would say that this shop had certainly grow into my top 3 recommended Korean bbq in KL. Pretty good and will certainly come back for more. One of the best Korean BBQ in KL or one of the best Korean bbq in PJ.

Good news is that now they have expended to Mont Kiara which is nearer to me. In Retail 163.

I am a big fan for Korean food. However when my Malay friends asked me about where to dine nice Korean BBQ, I am always out of idea and if the question is Korean Fried Chicken then I have a few. Best of all is that SeoulNami serve halal Korean BBQ at The Gardens. Located central of the city.

SeoulNami (1)

Love the ambiance of this shop as mark the latest trend of Korean style, with nice neon lights, chic and hip style of lighthing and ambiance with Korean background music.

SeoulNami (2)

SeoulNami (3)

One of the best picture location.

SeoulNami (4)

SeoulNami (5)

Menu offering is very straight forward, as it is either set or some ala carte.

SeoulNami (6)

For Korean food, actually there are some side dish for you to begin with, and for this outlet, they give radish and veggie which is to eat along with bbq meat.

SeoulNami (7)

For first timer testing out Kimchi, they offered a Kimchi Trio tasting platter @ RM 29. Serve in 3 different types of Kimchi. Original, the fried and the Smoked. Personal favourite will be smoked as it pairs well with the bbq meat. Some different taste in kimchi. For first timer, do try out this especially with original first.

Some of you might not like it, just like me. I learn to like it over the years.

SeoulNami (8)

For refreshing drink, check out their Out of This World Lemonade (must order) or Sparkling Orange Cream Soda

SeoulNami (9)

Crabby Kimchi Jiggae @ RM 49 – Usually I would order this in my Korean food. For this, they have infuse it with Crab to make the soup slightly sweeter. Serve along with glass noodle too.

SeoulNami (10)

One of the platter that you can try it out for first timer is this Beef Platter Board @ RM 119. Serve in 3 different cut. Bugolgi, Beef Rib Fingers and Beef Belly.

SeoulNami (11)

SeoulNami (12)

Another platter that you can share is this Famous Chuncheon Chicken that comes in 4 flavours:

  1. Spicy Hot Pepper Chicken
  2. Savory Ganjang Chicken
  3. Salty Salted Chicken
  4. Sweet Honey Butter Chicken

If you are not too sure which to order, among the 4 flavours – I like 1 and 4.

SeoulNami (13)

SeoulNami (14)

SeoulNami (15)

It would be great if you can add on Korean in Bone-Short Ribs @ RM 119. One of the star dish for the night. Marinate to perfection, meat is soft and juicy. Do not over grill this meat as a slight grill of 2 minutes each side, would be just nice. It is also depending on the flame of your pit. If it is too strong, put it at the edge of it.

SeoulNami (16)

If your grill put is quite messy with the first 2 round of grill, you can request to change it.

SeoulNami (17)

SeoulNami (18)

Lets dig in.

SeoulNami (19)

Final dish for you to mess with. Fist rice @ RM 29. A bowl of classic Korean rice mix with seaweed and mince chicken. You will be given a pair of gloves. What you need to do with it is just put it on, mess the whole bowl evenly then round it circular motion into a ball. You can either eat it off just like that or put it on the grill pit, grill to burn the seaweed a bit burnt then eat it. Gives you different flavour.

SeoulNami (20)

Final step after your grill chicken, ordering a Charcoal burnt cheese will give you extra flavour. Put the meat on top then roll it in.

SeoulNami (21)

Not too sure how to grill your meat, can always ask assistance from the staff on the floor. They are helpful.

SeoulNami (22)

SeoulNami (23)

To end your meal, do not miss this charcoal baked cheese. do not overbaked it like ours. We have overbaked it in the charcoal pit as we ignore the timer being set. This is one of the best closing dessert for the night. Creamy, light and airy. Cheese taste is pretty awesome. Do not mind just to come back for this as a dessert.

For my Malay friends, this is certainly one of the place for you to hit on for Korean BBQ. Might be a good experience for you.
